First time I saw EC live was in 1977. When Layla started, he stepped back into the shadows and let George Terry play most of the lead. The fact that he could willingly share the spotlight was when I realized what a true professional EC was!
Eric you must live for ever, because whe you go, there will be a enormous Hole in the Musicworld. You are the best ever. Happy Birthday from a Fan who have everything you ever played. Thank you very much !
Been listening to Eric almost since he started. Never seen a bad concert yet! Best in the business and so much class compared to most of the trash offered nowadays. All these folks are great in their own right and nothing but the best for Eric! Eric Clapton is and will always be the best! So many have learned from him, including Hendrix, what a great legacy!
The amazing music Eric Clapton,Has created and played will be remembered and loved long after much of the 'noise' produced today will ever be. Most music today is trash and noise. It is not melodic whatsoever. Thrashing on,a,guitar?, sure it takes some degree of talent but nothing like putting together lyrics, meaningful with great rhythm and precision, the, way Eric has always played. When he leaves this world he will have left behind a ton of great music, with friends, many friends, who have listened to his music, played his music, played along with both his and their music. He is an ultimate professional and gentleman. Although one of the greatest, he is always willing to take the back seat and let others step out front while he stands back and lets them shine, even, when he is the More talented player. God bless you "slow hand" for the many many years you have given such great God given talent to all of us who love and appreciate the obvious work it has taken you to become a true master of guitar and all genres of music. You will, always be the king.
If I had one wish it would be to see Eric Clapton before my time is over. He's been on that bucket list, but only playing in Japan. Please come play in the states again close to Tennessee so I can be blessed with the only thing left on my bucket I haven't gotten to do since finding out the I'm in last stage. What a gift that would be ❣ I'd get get on my knees and beg, just please play the stars again , like Nashville please sir !!! You are and have always been my very favorite !!! Happy 70th !!!
John still looks like a 15 year old playing in his bedroom with those concentrated guitar faces. Kinda wholesome considering how OP he is at almost 40 years old in this video.
Damn...You are straight on. Derek stops everything to listen to what is so right. God...I love Jimmy, Derek, Nathan, Eric and the blues. These folks are my Ministers of Music!
I saw this leg of the tour in Nashville. Paul Carrack sang the encore " high time we went ". It was awesome. Marcus King, Doyle Bramhall, Jimmie Vaughan and ERIC CLAPTON on guitar. 🎸
+Michael Gorman Turning 70 Isn't A "Have To," It's A Pleasure. Wisdom And Apprecistion Come With Aging. I Thought I'd Never Live To Be 50. I'll Be 71 In April 2016. +Brian Day a early well earned happy birthday!! I am 4 years behind you 4 7 49 born date. I see we have some things in common, music and life. Live long , be free & rock on, we deserve it !!
+Brian Day *I think you are taking my comment too literally there old son, I'm coming up to 58 myself, and yes growing old is a privilege-not everyone gets to experience it, it was a flippant comment, relax.
happy birthday!belated Mr Eric Clapton the one only king and the legend man to the music rock and roll..he is one of my favorite guitar artist.. God give you a long life and create more, song and recording music...God bless you more,power....
I think Stevie would be ashame of his brother… so many years and he still didnt learn how to play! I dont know why Clapton is so called Slow Hand. Jimmy Vaugahn is the real Slow Hand !
It's so awesome that clapton has Nathan East and Steve Gadd in his band man, they're probably the 2 greatest legends in their instruments today. And damn, do they sound perfect together. They should play as a trio, that would be something special.
Bravo, Bravo !!!
A classic Joe Cocker/Chris St ainton song from 1971!!! Chris really tears up the keyboards on this classic , only thing missing is Cocker on lead v ocals!!!
I am trying to figure this out myself. He changes the lyrics during his vocals and Eric, Derek and Jimmy start laughing. Derek is holding back a laugh after that. Would love to know the inside joke..
Jimmy told Terry Kath ( Chicago's lead guitarist, died before getting recognized as a great ), after watching the band do " I'm a Man" live, that he - Terry- was the greatest guitarist he'd ever seen! Arguments about the " Greatest" guitar player will always be around....
I hope really that Mr. Clapton will stay with us for a long time, having a good health ,lots of fun, but everybody will go when the time has come. Nobody is God.
yeah since the road to Escondido Eric's kind of taking Johnny Boy under his wing every now and then gave him basically a second chance. John had his own thing going we know but you also have to remember he was also a big douchebag with star power acting like it during the late '90s and to the early 2000s until he pulled his head out of his ass and realize he's actually a damn good guitarist and he needs to focus more on that!! and he has grown up quite a bit. so when you first start out with on that album with a credit people start to look you up more and they realize hey who was playing this song on there that was mayor I'll be damned and then he got invited out to crossroads and people kind of came around and you know said yeah he's a pretty damn good axeman
Everyone sounds incredible here, and when Jimmie soloed.....woah......went right through my heart...brought tears to my eyes....he is such a deep cat.....
Class act!! Derek could have took his little solo to a place where his fellow musicians onstage would have looked like beginners... but nope! A gentleman AND a prodigy!
Your watch has sold Eric... Your guitars are sold... Now your passion for Jesus Christ must show.. Mention his love everything you do..... May God bless you and use you...
I NEVER get tired of this MUSIC!!!!
Eric knows how to step out of the spotlight, and share the stage- he's a true gentleman.
First time I saw EC live was in 1977. When Layla started, he stepped back into the shadows and let George Terry play most of the lead. The fact that he could willingly share the spotlight was when I realized what a true professional EC was!
Damn...Doyle can sing up a storm! What a great vocal on a killer song... I saw him solo in Connecticut a few years ago, and he did an amazing show...
Eric you must live for ever, because whe you go, there will be a enormous Hole in the Musicworld. You are the best ever. Happy Birthday from a Fan who have everything you ever played. Thank you very much
!

Strangebrew
Have to add in Man I love Jimmie Vaughn here. What great licks. The real blues deal.
John still looks like a 15 year old playing in his bedroom with those concentrated guitar faces. Kinda wholesome considering how OP he is at almost 40 years old in this video.
all hail chris stainton on piano. And look how Trucks closes his eyes when Vaughn plays. The man loves the music.
Damn...You are straight on. Derek stops everything to listen to what is so right. God...I love Jimmy, Derek, Nathan, Eric and the blues. These folks are my Ministers of Music!
Do you know the writers of this song? One of them is Joe Cocker, and the other is?
Chris Stainton. Probably on piano in the group on stage.
@@rogerwhaley6980 yes indeed. Eric doesn’t leave home without him.
I saw this leg of the tour in Nashville. Paul Carrack sang the encore " high time we went ". It was awesome. Marcus King, Doyle Bramhall, Jimmie Vaughan and ERIC CLAPTON on guitar. 🎸

On the B-3 Hammond organ, Paul Carrick playing a song from his days with Mike & the Mechanics. I bet I've watched this 100 times since it posted.
OK Doyle sings a line, and it cracks up the guys. ~"I think I'm going to find myself on the floor." Can make out what he says before.
I am trying to figure this out myself. He changes the lyrics during his vocals and Eric, Derek and Jimmy start laughing. Derek is holding back a laugh after that. Would love to know the inside joke..
Truly amazing!!!❤
They say he is the 2nd greatest guitarist. I think he is the BEST...ever!
Jimmy told Terry Kath ( Chicago's lead guitarist, died before getting recognized as a great ), after watching the band do " I'm a Man" live, that he - Terry- was the greatest guitarist he'd ever seen! Arguments about the " Greatest" guitar player will always be around....
