As a teen in the 80's, we had awesome music! I remember hearing this song and being blown away. So, I sat patiently until it was played again so I could record it with my cassette player.
YES! We made our own MIX tapes!!!!
I love The Who songs like "Wont' get fooled again" and "Baba O'Riley" but this is just a fantastic pop song. I'm a computer and electronics girl and made my own MP3 doorbell - the chorus of this is one of my door chimes 🥰
Let milo open the door?
Yes we did ❤
I always admired how Pete managed to be one of the best rockers of all time, and then he managed to come up with one of the best pop albums ever. Man has insane musical range and talent.
Sometimes I think he represents rock & roll more than anyone!!
@@davidpunchard140 Agreed. Pete Townshend was possibly the best ever to grace rock, and certainly the best example for what rock is and could be. Rock n’ roll into its finest.
So true!
Sure, forget about him being a pedophile.
Put the crack pipe down
One of the Best Songwriters in the 20th Century!!
Steve Troise I agree! What great voice he has too.
Agreed Pete was a master songwriter of the century
Yeah. I absolutely agree.
Timeless, makes Adams project complete!
the perfect song for such an awesome movie!!!
Why i am here ♡
perfect 💖🇧🇷
AP brought me here
@@michellethomson7153 me too!😀
Without a doubt, this is the best version ever of this song. Pete's emotion just comes through the way he growls out some of the lyrics.
If this isn't proof that he's been saved I don't know what is.... Positively Christian! :) GOD BLESS Pete!!! :) AMEN!! :)
I prefer him doing this song at Jools Holland. But yes this version is okay.
His version on Jools Holland is far better imho
I agree. With him being older here I was not expecting that.
Ironically, this live version is actually better produced than the original album version. They applied some sort of weird phase shifting on the bass guitar on the album which made it less punchy on regular speakers. Can't do that in live settings because live venues are essentially "mono". Centering the bass in the mid/side field really helps the song.
I grew up with the who hands down one of the best bands
From the times where Live performance is better than Studio version ♥️
Released 1980. My life "magic time" (between 8th and 9th grade /born in 67). Thanks for a beautiful song to back up the great memories of my 'tween' life.
‘63 here
This song is the corner stone to one of the best weeks of my life during my early 20s. It involved living in a warehouse in Oakland, CA w/ a bunch of friends, a Who concert, a chef & my first love. Best memories ever!
+Dee Dee I know the feel.
I have to hear this story if you do not mind sounds very interesting
I heard this song was written about you😂
Picked this for my wedding song!😊
What I like about Pete Townshend is that his solo work is so easily distinguishable from Who material. He has a true command of messaging and feel for a song, a band.
Just like Paul McCartney's work with his band Wings was quite distinguishable from the Beatles as well. Both excellent composers indeed.
Yes and he was always my favorite Who member. I love his voice in songs like Go To The Mirror Boy and Sunrise.
Well said. Love his solo stuff. All 4 albums from empty glass to psycoderelict are excellent.......
@@butterfly.933 well said.
Two best songwriters EVER Pete Townshend, Ian Anderson
Ive seen comments ,people saying Petes vocals are no good !! This version is brilliant -- this bloke gets better and better as he gets older !!
Pete gets better with age
that’s crazy talk
Great voice, great performance.
There are SO many artists with not-so-great voices but the songs still come out magical. Its about the whole package.
They don't know Pete
Timeless... This is one of those songs that stands the test of time..
There is something special about Pete and this song. It takes you to a happy place.Love it.
Happy birthday Pete! I finally got to see you 2019 and 2022!
Well, ....... I guess this is what happens, when you got a great song, a great singer and a killer band ...... music magic. Emotion from the knowledge that he has a terrific band behind him!!!
PETE TOWNSHEND MUSICAL GENIUS nothing more to be said. Been listening to THE WHO and Pete Townshend for over 45 years and I will until I die but I have told my son's to put my who and Pete Townshend Albums in with me I am going to want to hear my music
Pete.....should you come across this comment.....THANK YOU for thousands of hours of entertainment. YOU are one of my favorites of all time.
Same here! He is brilliant!
Simon Philips - perfect!
This song was used in so many tv shows movies and commercials from the 90s. This song rings in my ear to this day. Good times
only true class acts sound even better live than recorded, and he's one of them
Can never get enough of this gifted soul.♡♡♡♡♡
This show was amazing, and I was there!!
Not jealous. Much!
Well in that case you would know.
There is no disputing that many of us really like Pete. My teenage self was a bit overzealous but Pete has left quite a mark
Absolutely amazing!!! Wow I think I've had this on rewind for the last hour lol
I love Pete always says he doesn't like performing but he does find it incredibly easy. I think with sodium pentathol you would find out he loves it and finds it incredibly easy . He is a master of his craft writing, arranging, performing and very giving, a true icon, even though he fibs about liking to perform
A true Legend at work
Is it possible to ever get sick of this song?
Mostly thanx to the sublime creative determination of a very few geniuses, who invented the astounding motion picture camera, around a hundred and thirty years ago, surely our greatest invention.
What a great song ! The 'Empty Glass' LP. is a masterpiece.
Also the keyboard intro is classic Pete, he’s one of the great keyboardists in addition to everything else.
This is a really catchy song.
Love it.
Can’t get better than this!!!!
Best love version I've heardcsobfar
Pete’s vocals are so great on this
Incredible drummer! That is a hard song to play at speed.
Pete was a great part of The Who and awesome Solo
Brilliant performance!
The, best, ever! God Bless Pete Townshend! Truly my guitar hero inspiration! 🎸
When people keep repeating
That you'll never fall in love
When everybody keeps retreating
But you can't seem to get enough
Let my love open the door
Let my love open the door
Let my love open the door
To your heart (let my love open the door, ooh)
(Let my love open the door)
(Let my love open the door, ooh)
(Let my love open the door)
When everything feels all over
Everybody seems unkind
I'll give you a four-leaf clover
Take all worry out of your mind
Let my love open the door
Let my love open the door
Let my love open the door
To your heart (let my love open the door, ooh)
To your heart (let my love open the door, ooh)
(Let my love open the door, ooh)
(Let my love open the door, ooh)
The only key to your heart
That can stop you falling apart
Try today, you'll find this way
Come on and give me a chance to say
Let my love open the door
It's all I'm livin' for
Release yourself from misery
There's only one thing gonna set you free
That's my love
That's my love
Let my love open the door (ooh)
Let my love open the door (ooh)
Let my love open the door (ooh)
Let my love open the door
When tragedy befalls you (ooh)
Don't let it drag you down
Love can cure your problems (ooh)
You're so lucky I'm around
Let my love open the door
Let my love open the door
Let my love open the door
To your heart

I was there right in the front row at Brooklyn Academy of Music ...Still there anyway anyhow anywhere! Pete is my 💜 💜💜....always .......
I love this song
Pete Townshend is rock and roll. He's the only one who can do justice to that song.
I loved him so much! He was a poet that spoke to my heart.
Past tense is concerning
March 2022 - no more musicians left. All rap or hip hop. Love this song - The Who all the music of my generation - I am 71
Genius.

You're so lucky you have have me around! Couldn't agree more Pete.
Wow! What a beautiful song!🥰😇🙏💞💫💜
He is much underrated, Pete was head of the Who on of the best bands ever.
I have great memories of this song, so much better live. My favourite version is the first Prince's Trust concert with Phil Collins on drums, Midge Ure on guitar and Mick Karn on bass (really unique sound) Pete's vocal was incredible. i recorded it on C60 cassette from the TV and played it until the tape broke a couple of years later. Well worth a listen if you can find it.
This song always cheers me up. Love this song.
Excellent!
I love this video sooo much. You can see his passion for his music when he sings ❤😃

Fabulous Pete! Just love love love it!!!!
As a kid growing up in the 1960s in DC, black folks were primarily focused on Motown and Stax records, but when the British invasion hit, it wasn't only about the Beatles, the Who made its mark, too. Pete Townsend had his respect and now he has reached legendary status. Hats off to one of the greatest to ever do it.
Saw him play Psychoderelict at he the Beacon Theatre in NYC during the same Summer of 1993. Great Show.
