This was fun to see it from the wildcard artist perspective, I have enjoyed watching this show. As a novice watercolor artist, I enjoyed seeing how you captured all the greens, your painting turned out amazing,
Thanks for uploading this video. And fair play for getting this far. I paint myself but didn't throw my hat in the ring as you did. Watching this makes me want to apply for this show. All the best Paul.
I really enjoy the show and really enjoyed your video. Thank you. I live in the US. southern Oregon and we have lots of beautiful scenery out here but I would rather “watch” people paint than pick up my brushes. For now.🤷♂️ it’s wonderful to see all the national trust properties and all of the gorgeous scenery around England and great Britain. Thanks again.
Ha, yes it was so exciting to see myself included on a TV program I couldn't help myself - even if I was merely part of the background! Need to work on my cool for future appearances... 😅 Thank you for your comment!
I most certainly did enjoy this video… Thank you for making it so real and so personal… I watch this show from Boston Massachusetts; it’s a little bit hard to find and so I sporadically… When I do, I absolutely love it… And truth be told, I would absolutely love to be one of the wild cards…
Love this show. Sometimes the wildcards outpaint the actual contestants. Seeing whats going on outside the pods is just as interesting. Thanks for the behind the scenes look! I am however a little salty at the lack of recognition the watercolour artists get. It's a much harder medium imo and doesn't get the respect it deserves.
Well done for being selected as a wildcard draw, its all experience..and it didnt bucket down with rain did it? cheers from Western Australia, BTW I loved your painting of all the green and the bridge. There is a bridge like that in Ross Tasmania Aust...
I literally stumbled onto this video. You made it fun to watch and listen to. Thank you. I really enjoyed it. I’ve never heard of a wildcard competition and that made it even more fun. The added intense wonder as to how well you came out. Even though you did not win I must admit I really liked your painting. Good luck next time.
Thank you - yes perhaps I'll try again another year... It was a great day out and is always interesting to see how other people interpret the same landscape!
@@inspired4nature yeah I think you can win ! I just subscribed to your channel and I’m looking forward to watching your painting videos, I like to paint to, I just started about a year and a half and I love it
Ah, I was a wildcard at Compton Verney also although it seems like it was the perhaps the other of the two days they filmed there. I feature briefly in the episode putting up an umbrella when it started to rain heavily and there's also some b-roll of my hand opening my palette. Fame eh! Like your painting - I chose to look the other way at one of the buildings surrounded by foliage. Didn't get through mind you, a lady who'd done a diptych in oil from our heat went on to be the wildcard semi-finalist if I recall correctly. Was great fun though and I entered again this year but all the wildcard places were gone by the time I tried to sign up.
Ooh lucky you with a hand close up! Ha! That's great, sounds like a similar day then if you also had to scramble for an umbrella... Thank you and good luck getting into future series!
Any chance you bought it from a half drunk, grumpy, Dylan Moran, sitting in a cluttered bookstore with the sign "Black Books" over the door? I need to believe that British comedies are actually documentaries, because it makes your country so much more fun than mine. :)
Thank you! I was allowed to say that I had attended and why but not to give away details of winners, but yes was tough waiting for the episode release before I could show off my work...
Hi! It turned out to be a nice day didn't it? Had you been a wildcard before? I caught the episode via freeview on Sky Arts when the series was freshly airing but I think you can stream the episodes online if you have a Sky subscription.
Can depicting objects as they appear to the eye, limit the artistic possibilities? We are not constrained to painting those objects with the same colors that we see. We can make some changes that create a better 'artistic' result.
That's the fun thing about the TV show - every artist there paints something so different from each other! I like to focus on including the little details that people might overlook in the landscape, like the clover in the grass, but others included all kinds of colours that I did not see with MY eyes. It was great walking around seeing everyone's interpretations to the same place 🙂

I'm still perplexed and, after trying to decipher the mystery, even more delighted.
@@renzo6490 I wouldn't know where to start but I do think I shall try some day, it's always good to stretch and explore beyond what your standard style is. It's great that that art has caught you with such intensity, you write with such passion - best of luck to you in unravelling the mystery (perhaps that process is part of the beauty in art?)...

What a delightful insight into the amateur side of things. And a lovely painting to boot 👏👏👏
The wildcards are always my Favourites! Great job on the painting ❤
Thanks very much! 😊 Yes it seems a lot more fun and relaxed with the wildcards!

Too bad you never show the actual art here. Would have been nice to see.
I show my own art and a little of the winners but don't feel it's my place to feature everyone else's in too much detail here.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your experience as a Wild Card artist. Your artwork is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your vid.
