No one can ever play the role of Doc Holiday again. Because, Val Kilmer, Owned it!!!
I'm your dingle berry
That's real sweat.
I'd say Kilmer's Doc Holiday was arguably the best western character performance ever!
@@Ange65230 Arguably?
Who stands a chance?
absolute perfection ... an Oscar - like performance !!!
The way he smiled and said “ I wasn’t “ sends chills through my body.
and Ringo's
It was such a Cheshire Cat like smile…Val gave a great performance.
Val Kilmer should have won an oscar for his performance in Tombstone . That movie was EXCELLENT frim start to finish ! The whole cast was perfection at its best
I feel the same way. Val Kilmer Owned the part of Doc Holiday. Tombstone may have been the best casted move ever.
@Charlie Montana Yes you are correct. Mickey Rourke not winning an Oscar for The Wrestler is a perfect example of what you are saying. He nailed that part. He gave it everything he had and more thanks to Darren A. the Director who brought out the best in Mickey. At least he won some other awards for that great performance. The Deli scene in New Jersey was my favorite. Forget about it.
I beg to differ, Kilmer deserved an oscar for this scene alone.
Where was that deli in New Jersey? Which exit?
Agreed, this is the best movie I've ever seen him in. Best Western ever. All of em did a ell of a job but these 2 are my fav
Val Kilmer killed it! Mad props for the "I'm your huckleberry" and "I 'm afraid the strain was more than he could bear" Still kills everytime.
brilliantly timeless !!!
bear
@@watchgoose thanks RUclips Grammer police. It was auto correct. You really are a watch animal.
@@watchgoose grrr
Most awesome gunfight scene in American history !!!
Ringo: " I was just messin about."
Holliday: " I wasnt."
Not even close! Van Kilmer & Michael Biehn’s performance was stellar. When Johnny said, I was just fooling and Doc’s response, “ I wasn’t “ was priceless.
Within 3 months last year I met both of these guys. :)
Michael Biehn (Ringo) is such an underrated actor.
absolutely took them both all 3 to make this scene have such impact, and then the preppy ACT-robatix recreation that follows is appreciable for the boldness to do so. Been some dark places in my life, seen some death, seen some disbelief, "did that happen?", haha, great film though some say, Ringo was another bad boy in bad times gone awry, a lot they say of Billy the Kid, and the James Brothers too. Versions always good to see from every point of view. Think Kilmer did better here than in Real Genius? Haha... ok, joking... Biehn always brings it, many forget he was the real power star of Terminator, guess we all have our roles to play, best regards... ~RaVen~
@Wesson Steel you should check him out as Smokey Banks in The Ride.
@Wesson Steel Oh man I almost forgot about that one, even Bill Paxton was deeper in that than usual. Michael Biehn, we do expect to flesh out his characters, and he never fails to carry a scene, or a movie as well. I like the tale of Ringo, yet there are other tales that suit his character as being the anti-hero, one by Ponderosa-made famous Lorne Green (yeah he sings and plays like Marty Robbins, awesome feel). I'd love to see Biehn in the Ringo role in a more favorable view. The guy rocks. Be well...
That instant of panic in his eyes when he recognized Holiday ... that's tougher than crying on camera.
He was brilliant in this movie. Obviously this was Vale film, but everyone that was in this film turned in a masterful performance.
Played wonderfully by both actors. From the moment Doc spoke, you see the worried look on Ringo’s face. He knew he could not win, but he also knew he couldn’t run.
Very true... both actors were excellent in this scene. You can watch this repeatedly to catch a lot of subtly and nuance.
But, credit where credit's due: the cinematography and direction help make this scene what it is. The close-ups, catch details that would be lost in a wider scene, but really help convey tension and emotion.
And, the lighting for the reveal of Doc (at 0:25 in the above clip) is phenomenal. The rim lighting on Doc, followed by the fill lighting as he walks out from among the trees is quality work.
@@marmstrong True
@@marmstrong The big four things need to be perfect for the film overall to be perfect: the writing, the directing, the acting, and the cinematography. Right behind those are the editing and the musical scoring. Tombstone nailed em all as well as the casting and production design-a truly great film.
Right ringo said I was just fooling around. Doc said I wasn’t
This second version does not do that scene justice when Val said those lines you could feel the anxiety permeating in the room on the other side of your TV screen as if you were there in the moment and only anticipation was making you wait this scene may have been imitated but NEVER! duplicated!
notice....doc never even dropped his cigarette!!! cold as ice!!
A true killer
No he knew was the faster draw. Can you comprehend that? He put a bullet in his head before he could even reach for his gun. I loved that scene.
I've also noticed one more thing: the guy playing Ringo in recreation of the scene looks like John Malkovich :)
One of my favorite movie scenes of all time.
Val absolutely mastered the role of holiday. He should've won a stack of awards for his role in the movie.
agree 100 %.
from comedy scenes, to an action bad ass intimidating everyone, to drama with sickly and dying, "like hell I got lots of friends", "I don't..." in 1 film, with method acting character the whole time.
The look on Ringo face when Holliday said “I wasn’t”... it was the look of pure terror. This was something he certainly wasn’t used to as he was the one who usually caused terror
and Ringo was meant to be the Evil twisted villain in the movie like in his first scene when the cowboys interrupted the wedding and Ringo shot the priest in the head in cold blood makes this scene priceless
Doc never even put down his cigarette
lol, i kept waiting/expecting him to do that! The headshot from the waist... with minimal body movement, was as superb as the onesided dialogue that followed!
Doesn't matter which video I watch via RUclips on the movie Tombstone. With very few words even, Doc Holiday (Val Kilmer) steal every single scene. Well done, and to all the actors too including the man that plays Johnny Ringo. It looks like he's pretty good too
Michael Biehn is the actor who plays Ringo. He was also Kyle Reese in Terminator 1 and Corporal Hicks in Aliens. An underrated actor indeed
i love this scene. val played the Hell outta rhis character
Imri Murphy Without a doubt Val Kilmer's BEST performance!
He didn't even get an award for this movie, it's bull
Defense Mechinsm ...shit
This is an absolute stink pile.
@@WhatTheFoock IMHO, His portrayal of Jim Morrison was just as good! Val is a great actor!
Val kilmer nailed the doc holiday part should have gotten a Oscar
Doc Holliday" was a true friend..100 Loyal to the end" respect..... 🏁
They famously split before the end. Wyatt never visited doc's deathbed.
The recreation went off good. It's a testament to the well written script.
Love the kids toy guns they used.
" you're no daisy... you're no daisy at all" poor soul you were just too high strung" priceless
That gun spin afterwards was so smooth. Great scene.
I wear a t-shirt that say's I'm your huckleberry to the cowboy action shooting events before I put my shirt and jacket on. I'm pretty good, but my son is the real huckleberry. You can always count on him for anything. He's an amazing young man in all walks of his life. He's an decorated Iraqi war veteran. Along with a lot of other men and women, you can count on them for anything. I read in a comment section once that the movie should've been called " DOC ". I'd have to agree!
He never said Huckleberry, that's actually 'huckle bearer,' which is the piece of hardware on a casket that you carry the casket with.” In other words, Holliday was warning Ringo that he was going to put him six feet under.Nov 6, 2020
@@kinglangren that's not true Val Kilmer himself confirmed he says huckleberry. That is a rumor that has gone around for awhile but has been disproven already.
Such a good movie I loved Johnny Ringo and Doc Holliday
The stark fact that anyone would go through such great lengths, and stage such a stellar reproduction is a testament to the sheer power and timelessness of the amazing scene they recreated...
I’ve watched this segment so many times over, both of them deserved Academy awards. I could watch it over and over.
A great scene and well re-created. Good job guys.
boy's
The Moment Ringo realized that it was Doc creeping out from behind that tree, he had already excepted his demise.
Oh sh!t it's Holiday! 😂😂
Excellent screenplay. Thank you Kevin Jarre (RIP. You were cool, big time!!!)
One does miss the good old days, but always remember that These are the good old days.
Val Kilmer I wish I could have given you a oscar for the part you played. You sure got robbed.
Doctor Holliday perfectly cured his patient 👌
Good job on the recreation guys! Awesome acting and exceptional camera work.
Loved it :) great job guys! You caught the scene perfectly
How about that... You guys just made me appreciate the movie much much more...
I just cant see him working as a dentist
Now you know why no one likes to go to the dentist. 😏
I totally agree. Perfection. I just can't get enough of it.
Watching both these clips back to back with all respect to the second team really illustrated so powerfully how much more the pro's bring to their development and presentation of these characters. WOW !!!
Val was a perfect doc holliday...but you guys done a great job recreating the scene👏👍
Johnny Ringo's character....
Did Justice to his part !
He expressively and thoughtfully delivered his lines. ..... on a high level!!
He obviously put a lot of thought and energy into it
( and overcame, the kind of mental blocks one might have,... recreating the great work of art!) .He "took his time"( I must have watched
Tombstone a dozen times,
.... and this is one of the culminations of the movie)
.. people savor the moment
watching it! So well done !
As for "Doc Holliday",...
I believe you rushed through it !!! Not bad but Val Kimler is a hard act to follow !!!!! And the problem with film is that is permanent until you burn it !!! I don't mean to be critical,.... but you put it out there for comments! I'm just trying to help !! You know, sometimes.... "acting" is a "metaphor for life"! Life happens fast, .... but keep your gun in your holster before you pull the trigger!!!
God bless you both :) !!
And thank you both the ♡effort♡ !!!
J.Ringgo: "I just fooling about"
Doc : " I wasnt... "
J.Ringgo: ....
That face 1:00 holy crap... i bout to die
Nice job guys great production and promising acting performances
Love you man thank you for putting this on what a wonderful thing we have that we can put stuff like this on such art best scenes ever
They took a classic western masterpiece of a scene, and defiled it.
Nonsense! They’ve not yet begun to defile themselves
Naw, their effort wasn't perfect, but it was no way a desecration.
Doc was in the need for blood and new just how to bait him in! Pure gold performance by Val!
Wyatt & Doc had the best friendship.
Great recreation! Made me smile. :)
The recreation is sick. Give the the original any day.
in the recreation the guy acting jonny ringo did the best for sure
If you have a friend like Doc, you never need to worry.
I am totally addicted to the movie best group of amazing actors
That was outstanding! Good acting, good cinematography, great production!
I didn't know Siskel and Ebert trolled RUclips. Dudes, this was great! Y'all had the balls to do it, probably had fun recreating that scene. Compared to the original, it was horrible...but I was entertained.
"Compared to the original, it was horrible...but I was entertained." Ditto. Compared to the original it ate my tube . . but I was entertained. LOL
It's like watching a masterpiece only to be followed by a colour by number kmart special.
I truly appreciate this it was good.
Fantastic movie. Love the scene, and the recreation was great!
“Why Johnny Ringo” best part
Outstanding job! I love Tombstone, and you all did a great job with your recreation!
Bravo!!! Loved it!
That's a tough act to follow, but kudos for the effort dudes.
First version perfect. 2nd version hope you enjoyed doing it, fellas because not that good to watch. OK, but no cigars.
Saw this the first time on VHS and my wife finally said enough after I rewinded this scene 5 times
Great scene. Enjoyed the recreation.
2 Jabronis in The End😅🔫🕵️♂️
Good job guys. That was a terrific recreation. Keep at it.
Wow. That was really good. I know I am way late to the game, but you should be really proud of this. It is excellent.
The freakin production, cinematography is damn gold. When Doc says “I’m your huckleberry” how the sun frames him in every way, almost makes him appear to pop out of the screen. I know I’m not articulating my thought here very well but if you go back and watch it again he seriously appears to be almost supernatural
In fact when offered a role in Tombstone. Michael Biehn of course wanted the role of Doc Holliday. A few days later the producers came back and told that they were offering the role to Val Kilmer. Kilmer has more star power at the time. No hurt feelings. Biehn jumped on the role of Ringo then . Both men gave the performances of their careers. You can’t imagine another actor or actors playing these roles.
"Alright longer"?
It's supposed to be lunger
I love this movie. I am not a Western movie fan,but this one here. Yesss
When Johnny ringo's scene Val Kilmer, He knew he was messing with the wrong guy.
They are just fooling around with there own little scene. I can see the fun in it. Its a powerful scene. It really shows the caliber of acting that came from the real actors.
As much as I like the film, historically it's pure Hollywood fiction. The real John H. "Doc" Holliday carried a Bowie knife and a cropped 10-gauge shotgun suspended by a leather tether under his long black coat.
I remember. I was there. I knew Daniel Boone too.
Doc also carried at least one, and sometimes two pistols. One of them a nickel plated Colt Thunderer in .41 Long Colt caliber, the other a nickel plated Colt 1873 SAA model. They researched Doc’s guns and the Earp’s and cowboys guns carefully for the movie Tombstone. Items like the fact Virgil Earp used a Smith & Wesson. They had documented evidence. Virgil was known to have preferred, and often carried, a Smith & Wesson (S&W) New Model No. 3 revolver, in .44 S&W Russian caliber.
That was a cool redo man got to hand it to you good jobs to you both
Much respect for the Fam Recreation👀 😆
Great audio trac, good camera work, slow down your rushing to fast. Needs more emotion build up the suspense. Over all not bad, a little work and this could be really good. Don't let people bring you down. It is not as easy as it seems. IF you work at it, it will get better. I hope to see more.
NO ONE Couldnt PLAY Dat ROLL of DOC HOLIDAY as Well VAL KILMER DID.....He Really kill it,,Every time the Camaras are Rolling there goes my BOY VALL ready 4R action is ON....Like I said NO ONE AT ALL....
LUIS VELASQUEZ ..I TOTALLY AGREE..VAL IS THE BEST..AND I WOULD GO AS FAR AS SAYING..THE BEST MODERN WESTERN EVER..AND THE ACTORS..WELL DONE ...ON A TERRIFIC REMAKE..
He kill it hands down
Damn good recreation guys! 👍👍👏👏👏❤️
Johnny Ringo's grave is about a 45 minute drive from here .
could of left the second ending out.
That was very well done guys. Ignore the idiots on here saying they did not like it as they would never, ever even try to do something like that. Good job.
It wasn't well done. Truth is a greater value then kindness. And if these boys want to improve, they have to be able to realize where they've failed. This means telling them that the way they read their lines was crap and totally out of character, which flat out ruins the tension of the scene.
Confused Canuck ... You want the truth!? Maybe you can't handle the truth!!
The truth is that "then" does NOT equate to 'than'!! Never did, never will.
In the words of Serge, "Don't be stupid."
Excactly..these idiots think they can do better than these actors..lol
@@TheIslandstyle11 like Pirate Labs said, noone else is even trying it. They didn't claim anything about being better, just played it the way it came out. Next time it will be a little different. Where is your take on it?
@@marthamacanalee1716 I'm just saying, these actors(Kilmer & Biens)did this characters a big Hollywood favor and no others can ever replace this scene well as they did. Maybe they can come up with another version of tombstone but the original is always the best
That was pretty cool love the cuts
Very good reenactment! Bravo!
This recreation? These two guys couldn't act they're way out a wet paper bag!...
I liked it... except the actor who played doc holiday.. I'm sure it was just his nerves though.. but the one that played Ringo.. very good.. I'm sure it was a lot of fun making it... always listen to your critics but never be discouraged by them... some are just plum idiots anyways...
The guy who played Johnny Ringo has some talent!
AWWWW!!! That recreation is so cute!
When Doc stepped out of the shadow and the smoke cleared his face....you could see the blood leave Ringo's face...
How about: I'm your huckle bearer. Listen real close.
Wrong, it's huckleberry, it's in the movie script.
Its huckle bearer. As in paul bearer
@@afa78djd u can hear him say huckle bearer, show us the script.if it says huckleberry proves how goofy this remake is
Nope, it’s huckle, the handle on a coffin
@@willmautino139 Wrong. It's in the script. Val Kilmer's book is titled "I'm Your Huckleberry".
The book from the 1920's that this movie was based on has the first scene in town in it, and in the book Doc says "I'm your huckleberry. That's just my game" Lifted directly from the book.
What you're hearing as "huckle bearer" isn't that...you're hearing a Deep Southern accent. In that, you'd pronounce the word as "huckleburruh" or "huckleburra". But you are saying "huckleberry".
Not bad, but could you have at least gotten a better Sheriff's badge?!
It was not a Sheriff's badge, it was the badge of a Deputy U.S. Marshal.
Love the line about Walking over your grave.
Pretty cool re-enactment. Bravo.
this isn't bad, but it needs more nuance.
ringo is subtle about it, but he's very frightened when he realized doc shows up instead of Earp. While he was quite sure he would kill Earp, he didn't know about doc. They were just too evenly matched.
Also, the guy playing holiday should've played the sickly part up a bit more. tuberculosis is a hell of a thing and weighs HEAVILY on even the strongest person. some makeup would've helped, and a spray bottle of water mixed with baby oil(it drips slowly) would've worked well for sweat.
hope these cheese dicks didn't put you off your path. you got skill, just have a bit more effort of speaking through the character, not just acting out the part and speaking the words.
Hobbes Caltous
AMEN.
Wrong
@@mjhavocktwinez6262 Not wrong. He's visibly shocked when he sees it's Doc and not Wyatt.
Well done, Gentlemen!
WELL DONE!
I'm your Huckleberry!!!!
My personal favorite movie scene ever
This is one of my favourite Wyatt Earp movies out of all the remakes inc, Kevin Costner, Jezibell Anat, etc.
My Surname is Earp and I have entered details into ancestry which has reached back to the late 1800,s early 1900,s, where it is lost as details go back to Californian Grave yards and Paper Church records!
I have often wondered "WHAT IF"?
Not necessary a maybe descendant of the Big man himself but, maybe one of the brothers - cousins etc??
When my son was born in 1995, I tried suggesting names, with Wyatt, Morgan or Virgil, but my wife was having none of it!
I'm retired!
That was actually kinda cool.
Thanks 47 for the great comment on huckleberry. I often wondered what that meant great information in detail. thanks connie
You guys suck, but i love that you went that far.
True huckleberries and daisies.
Best part of your recreation:
"Say when"
Nicely done.
Can't mess with Wyatt when doc's around, he'll be your huckleberry
Seriously??? The recreation was a wuss recreation. Made me cringe. 😂😂😂
It is clearly an amateur recreation. They did fine. Stop being an asshole.
A bunch of young lads having fun. Quite a decent effort.
The boys were having fun. Can't blame them.
I respect anyone who had the gumption to tackle the impossible task of recreating Val Kilmer's characterization of Doc Holliday.
Pretty good recreation1
Jerry Sinclair this is crap
But stay in school
Val Kilmer truly deserved an Oscar for this role and was robbed of it!!!
Best acting of any actor any time
