- In today's episode of Dr Nora, I take a close look at the 3200 Littmann Bluetooth Electronic Stethoscope and see whether it's worth the hefty price tag of $700AUD.
My primary reason for adding this to my stethoscope collection is to record heart sounds directly and share them with my RUclips followers. Prior to this, I had been recording heart sounds through my manual stethoscope by placing a microphone lapel into the ear piece, a very cumbersome experience. With this stethoscope giving the ability to record twelve 30 second tracks, I thought it would be ideal. Watch on to see what's included in the box, what it sounds like and how to transfer the tracks onto your computer.
PROS
- 12x 30 second clips can be recorded
- Can toggle between diaphragm/ bell or both
- Comfortable ear piece - 2 sizes in the box
- Reduction in ambient noise
- On screen display on heart rate
- Battery powered x1 AA (included)
- 2 year manufacturers warranty
- Easy transfer of files to computer
CONS
- Pricey
- Limited colours available - black, burgundy, navy blue.
- Heavier
- Can't transfer files onto a mobile device.
- Doesn't work as well on damp skin
CONCLUSION
This is a great tool if you're interested in learning more about particular heart, lung or bowel sounds. It would be a useful aid for exam preparation and it looks futuristic. I'll certainly be keeping mine to film more beautiful sounds of the body.

Purchased it as an open box item. As an older paramedic, I’ve suffered a bit of hearing loss and this stethoscope has allowed me to be able to assess lung sounds that I would normally miss. Great review!
I'm so pleased to hear that Matthew, best wishes :)
Nice video dr nora
litmem 3 classic sounds softer and much clearer hearing
Your every video i am watching big fan please . Love you
Hello Dr. Nora, I hope you are well so far? I had a question for you, are you by any chance going to test the Littmann® CORE
Digital Stethoscope? I found the video with the Littmann 3200 very good.
Best regards & have a nice day
The stethoscope listens to the heartdrum because i hear it it was like music😂❤️
Is there really a Mac Version of StethAssist Software for the Littmann Stethoskop Modell 3200 . I am searching for a place to download
i find the recorded sounds extremely quiet when listening to it on the computer and as an exported wav file. Is there anyway to increase the volume as loud as you hear it from the stethoscope?
Does it allow the live play of sounds besides recording? the idea was being able to auscultate one COVID19 suspect keeping safety distance and hands away from the face... thanks
Hi Vitor, unfortunately the Stemoscope has not been cleared by the FDA to be used as a medical device and as such, is not recommended to use in a clinical situation. Stay safe.
Wao amazing...
Please more heart beat videoss
I certainly will be Franco, in fact, next up is a video listening to the heart during exercise and comparing this with men and women. Following this I'll have another exciting video with a patient who has a heart condition. Thanks for watching ❤️
@@drnora but it would be interesting if you could share the audio of your heart beating fast after exercising in a video.
Best wishes.
Heart sounds good! Or at least your aortic valve does. Nothing wrong with that valve.
(As I'm sure you can guess, I can hear it better with the manual stethoscope.)
I'll be doing a few more comparisons on different heart sounds (during exercise and male vs female) as well as a female patient with a heart condition, so stay tuned!
@@drnora Ah, yes, I am aware that women's hearts tend to beat faster than men's...
Hi dr Nora !! Finally heartbeat sound video 😍, is amazing video compliment you are a very amazing doctor !! But you said that record a video with female patient and how listen her patient with stethoscope !
See you 😊
That'll probably be next week. She said she was finalising it.
Hi Lollo, thank you for watching, I have some very exciting videos coming up, listening to the heart during exercise and another with a female patient too so stay tuned!
Quite right Peter, I have a number of exciting heart sound videos coming up over the next few weeks, thanks for watching 😊
Looking for a stethoscope, but I found love
I am hard at hearing due to perforation in my tympanic membrane, is littman digital 3200 useful for me?
Would have thought so....that's the reason I might buy this.
i've been using the 3100 for years and about to receive the 3200 in a couple days. upgraded to see the waveforms! yes it's a great stethoscope. i have significant low tone hearing loss and it's been a career saver ❤️ highly recommend this electronic stethoscope over any other!

Have you had a chance to use the Littman Core Digital stethoscope. If so, how would you rate it against the 3200?
I have not, however I'll try to get my hands on one to test :)
Unable to setup my Littman3200
how will digital stethoscope will be for someone with hard hearing ?
Hi Joseph, the sound can be amplified on this particular device.
You know...that mic that's clipped on your jacket. Is technically a stethoscope.
Is there no connector to a PC for live recording?
Not with this one
please suggest where to buy now
Hi take a look at the links in the description.
Can you hear when it is set off?
Hi Fredson, the stethoscope must be turned on to hear any sound.
@@drnora Thanks Dr Nora.😊
Maybe it's because of RUclips or something, but honestly the acoustic stethoscope sounds way better! The digital sounds pretty crackly and muffled, but the Classic sounds crisp. Would love to see/hear more comparisons, maybe longer and maybe after exercise?
Thanks for watching Benson, it could be RUclips, but it could also be that to record the manual scope I used a professional mic which may have transmitted the sounds clearer. I'll be doing some more comparisons in my next video with longer cuts and the differences during exercise in men Vs women. Following that, I've got a very exciting video of a real patient with a heart condition to share so stay tuned!
Thanks for watching Jane, stay tuned - I'll be doing some longer cuts in my next video and would love to hear your thoughts on the comparison!
litmen 3 classic sounds more soft and clearer for listening to the heart
Thanks for watching Bailey, it could be RUclips, but it could also be that to record the manual scope I used a professional mic which may have transmitted the sounds clearer. thanks I like watching your videos because I’m in grade 8 and I want to be a doctor when I grow up
That's great Bailey, stay tuned for more videos on the heart and another coming soon about getting through medical exams at uni to give you a taster :)
Hi, are you a GP working in Australia? You sound British?
Hi Lookatcha, that's correct I'm a Brit working in Oz.
New sub
Your Heartbeat video please ♥️😅
Thanks for the sub Josu, stay tuned for the next vid with more heart sounds :)
it seems like that the electronic one's sound is.. not natural... I do not like this term but I don't have another one...
Thanks for watching Alxander, it could be RUclips, but it could also be that to record the manual scope I used a professional mic which may have transmitted the sounds clearer. @@drnora thank you for your reply Dr. Nora! I can't wait to see them all
I’d rather stick with the litmen classic 3
Is that your real heart sound?
Yes it is AI, what did you think of the two different stethoscopes?
The electronic most def.. I hope we get more of your heartbeat clips
That must've cost a fortune. Or two. Or three. Especially since it's a Littmann as well as being electronic.
Stethoscopes seem to be more expensive if they're Littmann, and much cheaper if they were made in Ireland.
Fun fact: although the first stethoscope was invented by a shy French doctor who really didn't want to have to get too close, the modern binaural stethoscope that you recognise today is actually an Irish invention.
Interesting fact Peter, thanks for sharing!
