    Man you amaze me everytime. Just shows going back to basics can catch you some decent fish. Can't go wrong with a bit of garlic and chillie hot sauce.. tbem home made boiles took me back to the late 80s early 90s.. when I used to watch the carp angalers as a kid. used to hear them talking about being up all night preparing home made bait. I only got into carp fishing myself 2 years ago nearly. I've been buying boilies by the kilo like 12£ a go. I'm still unable to fish myself, man I got so excited for you on that mirror and on a homemade bait. My brother your killing it. 23lbs common was 🎉 a big bonus after the mirror win. Golden mate. Just need to bag a ghosti or a nice Linear carp.

      Thanks as always Spoony and it was pretty rewarding catching both the mirror and the 23 common on the homemade boilies. Such a simple recipe too but I think I'll experiment and maybe add some chili powder to it. A ghosty and linear would be welcome in my net lol. Thanks again brother!

    Got my first mirror 1 week ago today and it was a freaking mirror faintail! Was literally shaking once I realized what I had just caught. Been carp fishing for 2-3 months now and both you and Outside with Tom are my main watches these days, thanks for sharing what you do and congrats on the amazing fish!!!

      Congrats Jay on your faintail mirror! That's awesome! And I appreciate the support. Tom is a great guy. Straight up and real and very informative. I need to try and get out one more time at least before the ice sets in. I just started carp fishing last year and absolutely fell in love with it. Such an awesome fish.

      @@AmericanCarpAngler Garlic has worked great for me as well-but I can't get away from the chili/spicy mixes! Tom has me always carrying a can of chili beans and some chili powder with me whenever I go carping. Happy Thanksgiving though enjoy the holiday!

      @jaypauketat6896 Happy Thanksgiving to you too Jay. And I tried a mix last time I went fishing of garlic and chili but I got skunked. I don't think it was the chili though. Just the fish weren't there or weren't biting. I plan on experimenting a bunch more next season. Kind of half the fun is playing around with new baits 😊

    I had never even heard of a Mirror Carp before until someone in the comments a few videos ago asked if you ever caught Mirrors before. That’s pretty cool, wondering are they a totally different sub species or a genetic mutation, I’m gonna have to Google it. A slow day made a lot better when you catch a first. Those small guys really fight but can you imagine catching a smallmouth that size. Still a great way to spend a day and to get a 24 pounder near the end of the day …. Sweeeeet ! The garlic boilies we’re working and the cats liked em too. Good day Fitzy !

    • @AmericanCarpAngler
      @AmericanCarpAngler  Год назад +1

      I'd love to catch a 7 or 8 pound smallie. I couldn't imagine the fight that would give ya. Yeah, Don, I think the mirrors were kind of bred from commons that had scales missing to increase that genetic pool to make for easy cleaning when they were still being used as a food source hundreds of years ago. Thanks buddy!

    Try Pepperami or frankfurter flavour.. I had my pb using Pepperami. Small piece which i stabbed using a baiting needle and topped it with a fake piece of corn. It weighed 33,1oz

    Awesome session Fitz! Even though a slow day, your first ever mirror on a homemade garlic boilie was worth it all. Conrats brother on the mirror, still trying to get my first one as well, but the rarity makes it even more exciting. Cant ever get away from those dang o channel cats, but the garlic worked. Looking forward to seeing more boilie recipe experiments. Good luck out there. Tight lines brother.

    Another cracking video 👍
    As regards to the mirror, some people would argue that's a leather carp. Personally I'd say that lonely scale right behind the gill plate on its right side makes it a mirror. Either way a nice catch 🎣

    Hey Brother, how long do boilies last stored? Just wondering ive always fished for carp with a cornmeal dough bait that my grandmother and dad made. Would like to try the boilies. Thanks for the good content. After watching your videos ive got the bug to go catch some big carp in my kayak.

    • @AmericanCarpAngler
      @AmericanCarpAngler  Год назад

      Haha landing them in the kayak is chaotic but exciting and it's cool gaining access to some spots you wouldn't be able to get from shore. Not sure on the shelf life of the boilies but yoi could always freeze them for storage until yoi were ready to use them. Thanks!
