The idea of letting an artist just explain what and why he does something is a genius idea...keep up the great work maybe you will win best ost at the game awards xD

"No one cares/notices, but I did it anyway." Aside from how much I appreciate this mindset, I think at least some of us care! I, for one, am ecstatic to learn more about the rising tension in this chapter--something I didn't always notice consciously, but it was there in my head, subconsciously.
Love the fact that Amicia's lines were rewritten to fit the music, this scene in particular gave me goosebumps because of how raw and violent it sounded. It's cathartic, but also so very wrong.

While I think the word "Crazy" is a slightly harsh way to describe Amicia, I do really appreciate the musical theme of her building the rage/wrath within. I think the music used in the stealth section leading up to the big fight was clever. Rather than highlighting the danger the soldiers are to Amicia as you get close like usual, instead it focuses on Amicia's desire to do violence against them.
I think it works really well, as that desire is self-destructive narrative-wise, both in the short term here where Amicia gets herself and Lucas captured when they could have simply left and in the longer term in regards to her own mental well-being and of Hugo's. It is also self-destructive gameplay-wise. The music goads the player to kill/attack the soldiers. But it's a much better strategy to avoid them entirely, both safer and saves precious resources. I like when the gameplay and narrative interlink in video games and the music choices help that for this game.

The barn scene was one of the most compelling moments of the game, and in large part due to the music. Beautiful and exceptional work.

That ‚insanity system‘ is genius. It‘s something that a player like me notices more subconsciously but now that you‘ve explained it, it makes so much sense why I felt so incredibly on edge throughout the entire sequence.
And the barn is just… it‘s so heartbreaking to me. Seeing Amicia loose herself like this. And also hearing it reflected in the music. Just wow
Can I ask: how long did you work on Requiem for? Or maybe you’re gonna talk about that in a later episode. It just feels like there‘s so many details it would take forever in my mind 😂

25:00 the music during this fight brought so much emotion and meaning to this scene and the following cutscene. Truly amazing. The voice actors were amazing on their own but your music was an entire character on its own. This game was extremely lucky to have you compose for it!

First of all I just wanted to say thank you for creating such a beautiful soundtrack. I would probably say that Requiem’s soundtrack is one of the best video game soundtracks I’ve ever experienced.
When I first played Innocence, the one part/piece of music that stood out to me the most was “Beyond the Horizon” during the chapter “Penance” - I literally had to pause the game a moment to really let it sink in what I’d just experienced. It was so impactful, not only the voice acting and scene but the music played a very big part for me too. It was my favourite music track from the first game.
When I then played Requiem, I noticed variants on this piece of music throughout the game. One subtle part was during an early chapter (I believe the piece of music is “The Lost Horizon” on the deluxe edition) and again, it gave me chills hearing this.
But the best for me was the track “Up There” with the heavy choirs on top of that theme. Obviously the scene in which this piece covers too is very impactful but the piece of music literally blew me away. It gave me such chills hearing it. I loved the fact that piece of music was used again but had that added addition of a full choir behind it. Absolutely beautiful.
I would love for you to do a video like this for that piece of music. Again, thank you for creating these gorgeous soundtracks.

This has been my favorite episode of your walkthrough thus far!! The amount of raw emotion expressed, through all methods, be it the music, the voice acting, the visuals...all of it comes together so beautifully. Charlotte McBurney did a stunning job with her lines in this bit. Specifically her line about feeling her mind go...damn near had me in tears.
In regards to the music during the 2nd system, the duality of the "De Rune theme" and "The Wrath" depending on how up close and personal the player decides to get, is so masterfully well done, you put it best: Its Exquisite!
Again, this has been my favorite episode of your walkthrough yet. Your insight exponentially expands the depth and potency of everything that this game offered previously. Thank you, again, for taking the time to play through the game with us!!

I love Asobo and Focus for letting the talented artists of the game upload videos giving fascinating insights into the making. It's like a special feature on a blu ray like the Aliens movies. I want to hear about the tech behind the rat tsunamis and main character models as their eyes are realistic and look like they have a soul

Thanks for doing this, Olivier. As someone who is learning to write music, it's really helpful to see you explain your genius work. I never knew how much detail and storytelling goes into writing music for games with all the dynamic systems and very intentional choices for every scene. Huge respect to you.

25:00 I think for this progression of Amicia into this bloodthirst as response of being scared, the first attack scene of the two farmers in the castle at the very beginning of the game should have been more important. Because the motion capture, that is not shown in the game during the cutscene but is off camera, shows Amicia extremly scared and helpless, pinned down by the two farmers on the ground, choked to death. Without Hugo calling for the rats, she would have died. If you go to IMDB, you can see shots of Amicia, made during photo mode, that highlight that. In hindsight this "lost" moment at the beginning of the game was the trigger for her progression into her aggressiveness.

Did dying light 2 inspire you to keep the dynamic music system? I know its different but its kinda similar concept to make the music tell the story beats where in dying light 2 it plays the game with parkour, no other games does that except the ones you worked on lately

I absolutely heard and appreciated the insanity ramping up. So subtle but masterfully done. The work that has to be done to incorporate into a dynamic medium such as gaming (versus a set score for a movie/cutscene) never fails to impress me.

It’s such a shame this came out so close to God of War Ragnarok….. I feel like it’s overshadowing this beautiful game. If we didn’t have such long waited for AAA games like Elden Ring and GoW Ragnarok come out during the same year and especially Ragnarok so close to Requiem and the game awards… I think Requiem could have easily won game of the year. It’s just hard for a AA (recently indie) studio to have enough attention drawn to thier genre, no matter how incredible a masterpiece it is… to stand a chance against games from AAA studios that zwere literally some of the most anticipated games this generation.

So powerful, that fight scene toward/at the end of the chapter. The music seems to swell and change with the player's decisions and movements, and that is really revolutionary (in my opinion). Such excellent work, to you Oliviere, the actors, musicians, and all - phenomenal job.

I've never heard of a reactive, dynamic soundtrack like this before, and it's absolutely brilliant and brilliantly executed in this game. All my playthroughs will now be so much richer as I can hear the story being told through music as well.
