    At last you have done some scratch building! Well done Matt ! For anyone wanting to attempt scratch building the sprues from your model kits are your best friend. You can stretch the over heat for thin lengths of plastic. Or use the frame its self for building material itself.
    For more elaborate stuff for scratch building. You will need Styerne Sheets and Rods of various lengths. Which you can find in your local hobby store or through an online hobby supplier. Now I want see Matt scratch build missing detail on an aircraft kit (like on an older kit missing cockpit detail) or something to that effect. Great video Matt!

    That project turned out very well! It reminded me of when I walked under a real Lancaster, at an Air show, and was surprised at how large the bomb bay was. If you want to bend wire for future projects, try this: cut a piece of scrap wood into a cube that is the approximate size of the shape that you need the wire to be. Then file and sand it until it is smooth and about the wire's diameter smaller than the piece you need. Then bend the wire around the wood form to shape it, and cut off any extra with your snippers. Then gently file and sand the ends of the wire to level off the end, so it looks good. This way, you can make as many parts as you want and they will all be straight and exactly the same as each other. I have used this method to replace grab handles on model tanks many times, and it works very well. Keep up the good work. 👍

    Well done Matt! This is your best so far! A suggestion for 1/72 figures : it is very hard to do the eyes but a brown wash on the face will make it more realistic and create shadows. Then the face colour mixed with some white can be used to highlight the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. There are tutorials on this around RUclips.

    When you do spray clear coat even with making tape how to you stop the canopy from fogging ?

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  2 года назад

      i've found that some clear sprays have acetone in - if they go on your canopy they can still potentially react because it either soaks into the masking tape or the fumes could possible find their way in the little gaps

    Dear Sir
    Your Lancaster diorama was simply superb just the right balance. As I understand it the producers of the softer plastic often use a waxy sbustnce to assist in ejection from the mold. In such circumstances pre washing is recommended, this may help with the flaking. Other than that you have brought a beautiful and accomplished build together with a fantastic painting example to anther level please give us more.
    Yours faithfully

    Wow what a nice build and the diorama. One of the best I have seen on this channel. You could add a Raf jeep in the future too from airfix if you like to make it even better. Tho I have a question. What is the airfix 1 flying hour on the box?I heard something about a code to get another model. If you could explain to me how it works it if you know. Thanks and happy modeling

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  4 года назад

      Thanks for the suggestion. The flying hours on airfix boxes are tokens. You collect them then can redeem them against more kits if you are a member of the airfix club. You send them off and only pay for postage- but the airfix club is currently no available so i'm just saving them all up for now

  • @SoymeScaleModels
    @SoymeScaleModels 4 года назад +3

    Looks good, but there’s a few things I would do to improve the base. Most notably, when doing a rectangular diorama, always position your aircraft and scenery at an angle, it adds a lot more interest to it, and gives a more realistic feel, as everything doesn’t look straight and perfect, as it certainly wouldn’t have been in real life. Also, try using thinned down paints to add some shade to your grass. Just a rectangle of one colour grass isn’t very eye catching, and again drops the realism. It’s much easier to do this with an airbrush, but it should work nicely with darker green, and brown colours thinned down like a wash and put down on the grassy areas. I’ve recently done a Lancaster diorama copying a photograph - I’ll upload a video soon - and experimented with placing a grass shading, and the general rule of thumb with dioramas is angles, angles angles angles. It always adds much more interest! Please take this as constructive criticism, and not me bashing your model, because you’ve done a lovely job 😁

    Im doing similar project but need alot of tips as ive been dabbling deep into an old hobby of mine since Covid19 hit and i went thru my folks basement and found a huge amount of 1:72 super detailed army guys(some are what you're describing rubbery soft plasti that i can imagine paint may not do well on as u were sayin)and those vehicles that were in an orange box made in Austria most are a dark olive drab cant remember the brand name, but more than enough to come up with some great ideas(too many,which seems to be a problem) but i just finished one of my favorites, a Typhoon and have an old US jeep that i put a twin 50 cal on that was from an old B-26 model that was to busted up, and i have the British anti aircraft gun and crew, forgot the name of it,bummer i couldnt find the small truck that towed it? And the aa gun is missing the legs and wheels but i made a basic stand from sprues so im thinkin of doing a very similar set up as you did here(fantastic!!! by the way)besides creating a ditch some how for the aa gun? Ok so now to hunt down your video on your figures because i have a bunch of air crew workers but i dont know there nationality.thanks for the tips! sorry sucha big message

    • @ModelMinutes
      @ModelMinutes  4 года назад +1

      @@Blitzzx_x personally I have no problem mixing those two scales as they are so close. The difference in size is hardly noticeable, but some people just prefer not to mix scales. • @ModelMinutes

      Nuln oil is a black acrylic wash. I found this link Citadel Shade: Nuln Oil (0.4 fl.oz.) by Games Workshop smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BH66KSQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_U.TlFb7Q1DKZX but if you’re not in the UK it may not be available to you, but you might be able to find something similar. I bought this kit a long time ago when I didn't know anything about painting and gluing... so i primed the whole model before building it. • @ModelMinutes
