    I had both and ended up selling my steam deck. I didnt get the steam deck to have great amazing battery life at low wattage games such as indies and story narrative driven games I can use my switch oled for that. The ally offers the other half of my games including steam and other launchers and game pass. The value of the steam deck is there for sure but I dont plan on dual booting the steam deck its a wonderful device as it stands. for 699 the ally wasnt really a bad price for what you get and sure they couldve released a cheaper model without a 512gb. For comparison the steam deck 512 is a 50 dollar difference, on either device i still upgraded the memory 2tb because i just do really use micro sd outside of my switch. I havent had any issues really with my ally and aside from setting up my ally i dont really have to navigate through windows much but since its a windows device i was able to make a better game library not using armory crate and running emudeck was easy and all of my games are in one neat organized spot. Glad to have both options. Not to mention being able to walk into best buy and just get my device or return it is a nice touch. Also you can emulate steam os with chimera but i dont really need to. And i do like the 120hz 1080p 100%srgb display its just stunning. Both devices get similar battery life on AAA games but they perform much better on the ally. Id say they get around 90 minutes on there highest tdp settings. Steam deck wins on low wattage older titles but again those also can be played on my switch. Great video but ally wins for me as of now. Not to mention the ally runs a bit cooler and is much quiter even at 18 watts you can barely hear it. I do not use the track pads on my steam deck either so no biggie for me but i can see that for some. I also felt the touch screen responsivness is much better on the ally. I just hope that Asus continues its support. Good time to be a gamer. I have a desktop pc so set up was no different really.

    I don't think the rog ally is more future proof than the steam deck it only has slightly better integrated graphics and a better screen plus windows is a more demanding operating system so a bigger chunk of ram is needed to run in steam os is more streamline so more of the GPU/CPU power and ram can be dedicated to running games both systems might need more ram in the future since they have an igpu Wich uses some system ram as video ram and both only have 16gb of ram not sure if the ram is soldered to to be board or users replaceable.

  • @gs8494

    On specs it's the Ally all the way, but I'd go for the Steam Deck everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Asus have had some terrible PR lately with some very underhand anti-consumer practices over a faulty motherboard frying cpu's, short version they pulled some warranty bullshit and got caught and called out on it, plenty of info online if you want to check it out. There's also a heat issue with the Ally causing issues with sim cards and causing the sim card slot to fail.
    The Ally might have the performance advantage and a v.good display but it comes at a price, even though the Steam Deck is a ips lcd 720p display it's not a deal breaker for me, I've played around with my brothers and I quite like it, I don't really have a need for one so I'd probably pick up on cheap sometime but I was pleasantly surprised by the Steam Deck overall, that Ally screen though is nice.

      @WarbotAkaDankSinatra On the ROG x670e and some other AM5 motherboards there was an overvolting issue with AMD Expo that burnt out cpu's, that it was happening wasn't the issue, it was the fact that Asus had to exceed the recommended limits set by AMD on the Ryzen 7000 cpu's to get the performance they boasted on the motherboards coupled to the fact that they knew it was an issue and added a line to the bios info on the updates page they were releasing to fix the issue that said you voided your warranty if you installed the bios update to get the motherboard to work.
      They got called out for it and claimed it was a "clerical" error, it all happened earlier this year, there were reporting issues with earlier AM5 motherboard releases but they were thought to be user errors or minor early adopter issues.

    This video should be titled what are the differences between the Steam deck and the Rog ally, you did not even remotely answer the question of which is better

    • @SuPeri_yt
      @SuPeri_yt  Год назад

      I actually did...and the answer is (it depends on your preference) do you want more affordable with known good support or do you want a powerhouse handheld that is still new on the market so we do not know how often Asus will be updating it.

      @SuPeri_yt  Год назад

      @@XxSYNDROISxX it's not that I didn't have balls. There just really isn't a definite answer yet...because, as I said, Valve is doing a great job with updates and stabilizing the system where Asus ROG Ally is brand new so we don't know if it'll be something they support for a little bit then give up on and move on to the next project. If the ROG Ally wasn't soo new and we were like a year in at least there might be a better answer since we would know by then if they are still heavily supporting the Ally. Do u kinda see what I mean? From a hardware perspective the Ally wins...from a technical standpoint (at least as of right now) steam deck is supreme. But, to conclude and as I kinda already stated in the video. If Asus continues going strong with the Ally just like Valve is doing with the deck then hands down the Ally will be the true definitive winner for sure!

    The thing is from a longevity POV the deck is presented as a console, not a laptop in a different form factor. Some developers have deliberately targeted the Deck and tuned their games performance for the deck. I think longer term because Valve is treating the Deck as a console AND is a developer themselves. There's more certainty around how long it lasts. The Ally probably gets an upgrade when the next AMD APU comes out so for developers there's 0 incentive to target the Ally specifically. Whereas Valve are wanting double the perf in the same performance envelope which isn't probably likely until RDNA4 or even RDNA5 given that RDNA3 is nowhere near double the perf of the deck unless you double the power going into the APU.

      Actually I will say...Asus has been pumping out non stop firmware updates I literally updated like 2 days ago went on again last night and there was another firmware update available lol. I think they know they have their competition and not to mess this up haha

    • @alexzaza12
      @alexzaza12 11 месяцев назад

      @@SuPeri_ytMore accurate would be Microsoft and AMD are pumping out updates, Asus doesn't really care that much. If they really cared they would fix the sd slot issue before anything else. Which is really a shame, if not for that one issue I would be downloading games to the ally right now.

      Yeah but there's also cons to that as well....not everything is going to run flawless...call of duty MW2 had massive issues (internet wise) playing on the deck...I was rubber banding a lot during the match and I looked it up and apparently it wasn't just me experiencing that issue on the deck either. Also, you are getting a massive hardware increase with the ROG Ally. Now, I'm not biased towards any company but, the Ally will definitely have more longevity over the deck as long as Asus keeps pumping out stuff from a technical standpoint like bios updates, firmware updates and overall quality of life hot fixes.
