While two solids can not go through one another, without some funky quantum mechanics, just the act of stepping would be enough to sit into soft ground, as that is essentially putting force behind an object. If two objects are still, yes, but walking exerts force and the slightest amount of force would cause something that heavy to be able to penetrate. There are also rules that are bent sort of with the rules of matter. Dirt for instance is made up of all three states of matter...
