12 Salvation is found in no one else, other than Jesus Christ for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
Thank you for helping me feel better. I wish you could hear my confession one day.
Father, you are not the anti-Christ. Thank you for this video.
I miss praying morning prayers with you.
A priest once said that bad thoughts are like bill boards on the hi-way ,you see it but keep on going ,then it’s not a sin unless you stop to act on it ,🙏🏻
Thank you father. I appreciate it this talk. God bless you always. 5:20
When my mind gets distracted during my rosary, I back up a # of beads and start praying again.
Yes!
Distractions in prayer 00:22
Lustful thoughts 2:03
Distracted during Mass 4:40
❤thank you
I find confessing the lustful thoughts helps because it feels as if through the reconciliation process I am delivered from them and I have renewed strength to combat those thoughts and disregard them for a time.
When I get distracted in prayer or at Mass, I quickly say, “Satan, get away from me!”
I actually just stumbled across your channel as my parish in Northern Ireland is also called All Saints, thank you so much Father for your homily God bless you always from Northern Ireland 🙏🌹❤️☘️
Wonderful! You are welcome! God bless!
When I get distracted, I switch to this prayer: “Ever present God, here with me now, help me to be here with you.” I learned this prayer in a meditation from the book “The Mindful Catholic”. It works beautifully for me.
Thanks for sharing!!
Ive missed your homilies. So grateful to hear your homilies once again that help me understand my faith.
What happened to this priest? Did the Bishop silence him?
I am not a Catholic but I am a believer in Jesus Christ. I had the opportunity and privilege to be a musician in a Catholic church for 4 years in a regular Sunday evening mass and I can confidently say that from the first mass I attended I was struck with how beautiful and worshipful the mass was, and I felt the same way four years later when we parted company. I found that there were many sincere Christians in the church, not just church goers, and we had some great fellowship in Christ over the years. I still stay in touch with many of them to this day. Thank you for sharing these principles, they're good to know whether attending confessional or not.
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, father, for this spiritual information, I have in the past fought these situations myself. Oh God, please help us all to re-focus when are minds drift away from you. Please God, make us all the saints, that you, Lord God, created us all to be. Amen. Sometimes I’m not very good with words, but it is from my heart. Amen
That was a great homily from a brother priest.
For thirty years the great Saint, St. Theresa of Avila, counted the Church floor tiles out of boredom and distraction. I was so happy when our parish priest told us this fact. There's hope for all of us (and me) to become great saints. Thank you Father, great homily, God bless you 🙏🙏
Lord, forgive those who hate and are self righteous. We have all sinned. We have all fallen far short of your glory. We can only hope to embrace your mercy. Humanity is broken, all of us are wounded. In your mercy Lord forgive us. All of Christendom needs to seek forgiveness.
All of thst makes sense. God is so magnificently just and understanding that there is no way He would hold us accountable for something we have zero control over .. unless as was clearly explained here, that we willingly entertain those thoughts further and ruminate on them.
So great to see you Father; missed your insightful homilies!
Im praying that all 51,000 come the first night.we need this type of gathering.i am so happy you are at the altar again.
GLORY TO GOD FOR YOUR HEALTH FATHER.PRAYERS GOING YOUR WAY IN THANKSGIVING.
With all the evil in the world.. we have faithful Catholics that confess those things…. The world needs salvation
Catholics aren't the only Christians. We confess are sins directly to jesus 1John 1:9. If we confess our sins he ( jesus) is faithful and just to forgive them. I think we must humbly approach God and want to forsake them...No intermediary is needed. No one else can apply their blood and remove your sins as far as easy is from the west. No one else can say your sins are forgiven
@@jacquelinepage43How does Jesus forgive your sins without a Catholic Priest?
Thank you Father in Heaven for Confession and for Great Holy Priests to here them....
Thanks for listening
Thank you for such a practical homily!. God bless you, Father. Your homily is presented for the greater glory of God.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you father. Please continue to upload your homilies in the Internet, so that l who live on the other side of world can benefit froom it
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. And Thank You. I enjoy good news. Where ever it is from. Bonnie
My understanding is that if we do not immediately dismiss a lustful thought and if we begin to encourage or "entertain" them then we have sinned.
I always say the St Michael prayer when distracted.
Me too...especially with lustful thoughts
👍👍👍!!! Tks!, Fr Hollowell.
Thank you for listening!
Key comment in the homily for me is the Catholic Church has the answers to human existential questions . Knowledge, or demystifying the truths of Catholicism , does help to draw people in , rather than people just thinking Catholics are nuts and believe in talking snakes, walking on water, burning bushes, dead people resurrecting, 5000 feed on a couple of fish, Jesus is the host at mass, etc, etc, etc.
A priest said to me in confessional, “is that all?”. It shook me to my core and I went back and did a true full examination of conscience. It was amazing the number of sins I committed, often daily. These sins the priest claims to be the top sins confessed sound mild comparatively,
Don’t give up,Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the courage and strength and overcome your fears
Im really feeling like the worst sinner in the world because i have to work im the only income in my house..im exhausted at mass and i am so happy to be there. But i am tired and i beat myself up constantly. Its getting worse daily. This helped me feel a little better.
We are praying for you! Thanks for your comments!
I missed Father Hollowell’s homilies. This was such a treat.
Thank you for the explanations Father
You are very welcome
Father John!!! How glad I am to see and hear you again! What a miracle 🥲🙏🏻 God is good!! God bless you!! 😇
Thank you Father, this has been very helpful! God Bless you!
Glad it was helpful!
PLEASE post more of your homilies! You are the BEST priest!
We will!
Thank you Fr.John for your Guidance and Leadership
Thank you, father! That was so uplifting to hear as a new convert to the church! I am very much looking forward to your next one.
Father, this is the first homily I have heard of yours. I really wish you were in our parish. You must be so wonderful to go to confession to. You speak so , calmly, compassionately and teach so well. I would go to your classes if I could. I think my husband night go to RCIA classes then! I am already a practicing Catholic.God bless you Father. .
May I suggest that after your morning offering, you pray for your parish priest to be supernaturally protected and so filled with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that his homilies will inspire and lead to many conversions 💖💖💖
Thank you Fr Hollowell ❤
Thank you Father praying for you
I pray to the Holy Spirit
Thank you. Excellent video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you Sir! This is exactly what I needed to hear. I've been to Confession twice in the last month to talk to our Priest about getting distracted during prayer, trying to find the right way to do it, staying consistent, etc. It weighs very heavily on my heart and mind. I really appreciate you and your sharing this homily. I shared it with my husband and a friend of mine that's in RCIA right now.
Glad it was helpful!
Beautiful said❤️. Amen🙏🏻.
Thanks for listening
Catholic teaching through good and faithful Priests like you Father is so good for all of us.
The Catholic Church is necessary for our Salvation of the World for she is the True Body of Christ here in this lost world!
What is necessary for salvation is believing in the Gospel message of Salvation. That we turn from our sins and trust Christ for our salvation. For Christ died for our sins so that we through Faith in Him are reconciled with God. It has nothing to do with the Catholic church.
@@spacecoastz4026it had everything to do with the Catholic priest. Only a Catholic Priest can absolve your mortal sins.
@@johnpglackin345 Jesus died for my sins...for no person other than Christ can be my Savior. This is why a lot of Catholics are not saved...their savior is their priest or denomination. You need to read and study your Bible.
@@spacecoastz4026 now you must do your part and join the one True Catholic Church that Jesus established. If you want salvation. Only a Catholic Priest can save you. By rejecting Christ Church you reject Him as well.
@@johnpglackin345 I do not reject Christ, but honestly you need to understand it is YOU who is rejecting the Gospel. The Catholic church will NOT save you. Priests do not save you. Jesus saves you, and ONLY Jesus.
I was born and raised Catholic. I understand and fully know its doctrine, and I also know and understand Scripture. That is why I'm no longer part of that false cult.
Wow . I'm so thankful for this homily and I out honesty
Father it would be such a blessing if you could put these classes online 🙏
😊
Thank you so much, Father!
You are very welcome
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Thank you for this homily as I really needed to hear about the distractedness in prayer. I stay away from reading or watching anything that might have a tendency for Satan to use in lustful images.
Amen! Praise be to God The Father Almighty! Glory to God in the Highest and peace to all the people!
Thanks ever so much
You are so welcome
I sure wish PA. Was alot closer to INDIANA. I would attend your class to refresh my catholic beliefs.
Thank you Father for explaining all of this.
So wonderful to be able to hear you again!!
Thanks for listening
Good to see/hear Fr. John again.
Thank You!! You have Read my mind And answered my questions. I have done all 3 non- sins and thought they were sins.
My sister said that is the devil keeping You away from receiving Christ (GOD) in the Most Holy Eucharist.
Because of Your Clear Explanation - I now know that she was right. May you be blessed. I will pray for you. Because the devil hates brave and faithful Priests. Thank you😊❤
Thank you, Father. This is good to know.
You are very welcome
Thanks for exemption. Good to see you again. God bless you always 🙏
Beautiful homily -- pertains to me with such distraction in my prayer life I realize not sinful, however, helpful for fresh ideas to help avoid distraction.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much I needed to hear this
You are so welcome
Great tips on how to gain focus... I will start trying this
Amen!
Now That's What I Call A Real Anointed And Holy Priest!🌺🌺🌺🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦🇮🇱♾️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🦅🗽‼️
Why do you add the israeli flag? Do you know how poorly they treat Christians there?
Father, you seem to have a very holy group of parishioners.
It's so good to hear from you, Fr. We NEED your on-line presence. You are a God-send. Please keep publishing your homilies.
Cool.
I admire Father Hallowells' Homilies, his Sacrifices, and Spirit!
A saint once said to just keep bringing you mind back and not worry about distraction even if that's what you do over and over. The effort is noted.“If the heart wanders or is distracted, bring it back to the point quite gently and replace it tenderly in its master’s presence, and even if you did nothing during the whole of your hour but bring your heart back and place it again in our Lord’s presence, your hour would be very well employed” - St. Francis de Sales
Thanks be to God 🙏 and thank you FR. John Hallowells to your inspiring homilies.
Thank you SO much Father Hollowell! May God bless you into Heaven. Praying for you and your continued health. 🙏😇🥰
Respectfully, It would be nice to hear the Holy Bible quoted as authoritative in such matters rather than just the catechism. Bless you in your ministry as you serve him who loves and forgives all children of God. Thank you for your faith in Jesus.
I needed to hear this. My tendency towards distraction in prayer has actually kept me from praying and trying to cultivate a better prayer life.
Never give up! That’s what Satan wants you to do. He lies to us.
God loves your efforts!
🙏🏻
I've never confessed sny of them as i knew it was from the devil. Though i have felt guilt essentially distracted in prayer snd st Mass.❤
Rosery, pray the Rosery as many times as you can Make frequency in Confessional, and Recivie Communion.
There are 5 Stones for the practice of the Faith. Pray , Fast, and Give alms for the poor,
Confession and Communion . Remember St. Paul tells us to work on our Salvation with much fear and trembling.
If those are the three most common reasons for sinning, that would suggest a lot of liars in my honest opinion.
Thanks for listening!
I love Father Hollowell. A true Priest
Matthew5:28 - But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Maybe we need to read the Bible again
Will the classes be available online? Will they be posted on RUclips?
Yes! Thank you for asking!
Concerning the sin of lust when one looks at another man or woman in that manner...I think Billy Graham said it best...he once said, in his interpretation...the first look is free, but the second look is sinning...
I'm disappointed that this sermon wasn't about ACTUAL SINS. I think we would profit greatly if this were about sin.
Thanks for your feedback!
If you Entertain lustful thoughts and not put a stop to them the best you can. Then it is a Sin. Because Lust in itself is a Sin. Example: Looking upon someone Lustful is a Sin.
Yes. Matthew5:28 - But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Can you offer the classes via zoom???
We will not be offering them via zoom, but we will be recording them.
In Matthew 5:28, Jesus tells us “Everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Clearly I'm not in his parish, his top 3 would be way better...or worse.
There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church. Repent and become Catholic before it’s too late!
I could argue with you about that. All who have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior are saved/born again (as Jesus said we must be). We are all the body of Christ, The Church. No matter which denomination you are.
Sometimes I see women at Mass with yoga pants on, even young teens too with their parents! It's so sad they do not get it how is causes men to have lustful thoughts because they are human.
Muslims have the right idea covering women up
When you get in the sack together you can go wild however
