It's normal to be scared. But know it's a sport in a controlled environment. It's safe. Be patient and perseverant to turn the uncomfortable into comfortable. Fear of competition will go away by doing many tournaments regularly. Good luck!

Luciano, for safety reasons the BJJ rules are clear under the IBJJF in which it states that the referee has the power and the duty to end the fight if the ref deems the submission is dangerous. In the heat of the fight, the referee doesn't know how a child makes "tapout" decisions. With that said, all players go for submission knowing the ref can stop the fight and at the same time all coaches teach the students the risk of getting caught, even if one is super flexible as the risk of severe injury weights on the decision for the good of the sport and the athlete's safety. All in the rules. For adults, it's a different story.

Boy that won was being nice. He could’ve cranked that arm to force the tap. Watch it again.
