Navajo Masani (grandma): YADILAH!! All you need is salt n pepper. Don't make it fancy, just butcher fresh.
    .
    .
    .
But seriously my dude good job with the recipes. I'm full blooded Navajo and I gotta say this looks pretty good. I love these recipes because to me it meant that we had to gather as family. My fondest memories of living close to the Navajo reservation were butchering with my moms side of the family and then preparing the meal. There was no small role while preparing it and it made the experience worth it. In most areas there are no running water or electricity so we had to be resourceful. Before we butchered the lamb we thanked the animal and used everything leaving nothing to waste. The food was phenomenal and there was never an empty stomach.
Ahe'he (Thank you) for sharing these recipes. I see it as a way to share our culture with many people around the world. Often folks mistaken our heritage from the media but that is almost always misguided. Anyway my dude keep doing what you are doing. Keep it up.

Wow, that is amazing how you prepared some Navajo dishes. I am Navajo and it is okay how you made most of the food but the mutton soup usually has no seasonings added to it, the lamb or mutton makes the broth very tasty. The hominy corn, squash and other root vegetables are all traditional addings. The blue corn is on point except on the Navajo reservation juniper ash is added but your's looks very good. The frybread dough is made with baking powder but if yeast is all you have then that is good enough. All the food looked exceptional, thank you for sharing with us. Now, i want to make some frybread.

This is more contemporary native Americans food. The result of tribes being pushed to subpar reservations and given rations. It’s sorta like our “soul food” being different from African cuisine (that isn’t to say navajo tacos or soul food tastes bad, it’s delicious!)
The other person mentioned blue corn which probably means they are more southwestern tribes that still grown some of their old crops.

I lived on a Paiute reservation and we didn’t eat much traditional food besides “Indian tacos” so the only thing I can really comment on is that fry bread is supposed to be pillowy, not crunchy. It all looks super awesome tho. That stew looks similar to what we’d eat but it would be with deer meat, never lamb.

Most of the native cuisine is what we could make out of the rations the government gave us after forcing us onto reservations. Understandable the natives are forgotten because they want you to believe we don't exist. You live in Alberta there are native tribes around you. Living in a country and not knowing about the original people.

      Breadfruit oil down
      Bake and shark
