Smiling link productions Telephone is a game that either keeps it’s initial message or turns it into a misinterpreted version. Mgs’s whole story involves people trying to fulfill the Boss’ legacy, but all of them misinterpreted her ideas and made a mess out of it. While her goal was to revert things back to the way it was, Big Boss and Zero for example were trying to make a new form of peace.

It's even more funny when you consider he dresses fancier for an inspection of the Metal Gear Rex project in the middle of freezing Alaska than he does for meeting the President lol.
I expect him to sin a character whose name is literally the acronym for "SIGNALS INTELLIGENCE." It's so on the nose it's absurd.
All of the boss fights were orchestrated by the Boss to make them easy for Snake to win. Which is heavily hinted at when Volgin finds out about transmitter planted on Snake. So this whole "why is the Pain fighting him in this cave" thing can be answered by "because he was ordered to".

@@joshmarsh3640 There's a lot of mistakes, the one that annoyed me most was the comment about the helicopters being taken out by the nuke.
The miniature launcher is real, it's called the Davy Crockett, and it has an unbelievably small explosion size, think of the fatman from the Fallout series. The weapon's lethality purely comes from how far away it can provide a lethal dose of radiation (just under a kilometer if I recall correctly), while the actual explosion is more akin to a howitzer impact. Those helicopters were without a doubt out of range, in fact I'd have sinned how bright the explosion appears, the real thing isn't much to look at when it goes off.
@@TheChaosCorvid I was referring to the mistakes made by the guy sinning the game because he didn't pay enough attention to what he was actually sinning. If you're talking about "mistakes" in a video game where things aren't realistic, remember it's a game man, no game in the world has ever been realistic enough to replicate real life, especially a metal gear solid one where people with abilities like Psycho Mantis does. So your comment about of the explosion wasn't a mistake it was intentional for the purpose of adding drama by the game's developers.

I just finished replaying this game so I have some few comments to make
"So was that bullet blank the other times you tried to shoot Snake with it?" Yes, yes it was. Ocelot is a triple agent working for the CIA and maybe the pentagon too (the post credits scene is still a bit confusing), he is the Adam that was supposed to meet with snake but couldn't because the CIA couldn't get ahold of him in time and Eva showed up before him.
The shagohod doesn't require the runway to shoot the missiles, they had it built because they were still on the test phase, you can see some videos in game where they drive it alongside the runway without shooting anything, I assume the competed mass produced version wouldn't need the runway since it has the augers for that (the hangars and personnel required would still be spotted from satellites though)
Khruschev is the only one who bothers with the Russian accent because he's actually speaking in English to the president, the rest of the soldiers are all speaking in Russian but we hear it in English for our convenience. Yeah I know it's kind of a bullshit explanation so keep in mind that the games are originally in Japanese and so the Japanese gamers hear it in their language even though most of the important characters are American or British and speak English. Also Kojima and Snake's Japanese voice actor Akio Otsuka were planning on having the characters speak Russian and Otsuka even started taking classes but they were shot down by production and the other cast members because it would be too complicated
"Sigint later becomes the darpa chief his personality changed quite dramatically" Well yeah, a young adult can become more mature after 40 years, go figure. Also the DARPA chief has been dead all along since the beginning of MGS, the one we met in that game is decoy octopus
Hah found another detail: Sin 28 conflicts with the time spent in the game if you were to skip time during the Ends bossfight (which you shouldn't because this fight is amazing).
If you skip ahead a week in order to kill the End by his old age, it would mean that the time you set forward to would equate to the time spent inside Russia as it has a profound effect ingame, clearly overstepping the deadline.
So fun fact, when you cause a Time Paradox and Campbell yells at you isnt actually Campbell, even though a lot of people cite that as evidence for Snake Eater being a VR experience (maybe for Venom Snake to gain Big Boss's memory IDK), but in fact it's not supposed to be Campbell at all, see the Japanese voice actor for Campbell is actually the dub actor for Doctor Brown from Back to the Future so in japanese it's just supposed to be a fun wink to one of Kojima's most beloved movies, but for whatever reason, in translation they got Campbell's English VA, kinda ruining the reference

It actually is Campbell. It's the same Japanese voice actor as the previous games. Takeshi Aono dubbed Doc Brown in one of the various Japanese versions. That's what the reference is.
16:51 - About that "unexplainable reason", it is actually explained in an optional codec call with Sigint. They were originally planning to infiltrate the ranks as Raikov but was scrapped however Sigint kept the mask simply because ... he likes it.
Not only does SIGINT like it, but it’s also the first mask that can blink! According to the wiki anyways. He didn’t manage it to get it to open its lips though.

I was kinda shocked that a sin wasn't taken off for the addition of CQC. I personally loved the cutscenes with the Boss and Snake using it, it was definitely more enjoyable to watch than Solid Snake doing his signature roundhouse kick.
Just a note, but odd you pointed out Kojima’s symbolism and names and titles... but you didn’t double sin the fact that EVERY traitor/“Double crosser” in the MGS series uses the codec frequency 141.80 lol 🤦🏾♂️

Technically in MGS2, Snake (Pliskin) didn’t betray Raiden cause in the end he helped him all the way. I believe he might’ve been talking about the Colonel being the Arsenal AI. MGS1 though it was Liquid who was posing as Miller.
MGS3, The boss. And In MG2 it was Petrovich. I believe that is the 4 he was talking about. I could be wrong tho.
bc he doesnt play the games to understand he just does it for content, thats why i stopped watching his shit, i just happened to be downloading mgo 2 on my ps3 and was feeling nostalgic, plus people need to remember the MG series ran back on the GBC, so plenty of lore still exists but it really doesnt matter cause people dont count that as canon for some weird reason
@@baileymcmahon7509 Well, Snake didn't betray him (Even though I found the "I never said I was on your side" line hilarious because if you shoot Snake while Sniping he says he's on your side....) but I wasn't referencing MG2 simply because it wasn't "Metal Gear Solid" I know it's part of the franchise,l but 140.80 has always had something with it.. With the exception of Raiden using it in MGS4

Granin actually did design Rex, he sent the schematics to Otacons father in the United States IIRC. It just didn't come to fruition until MGS1.
Although this does retcon Otacon from being a genius who designed REX from the ground up to being a kid with good contacts... Not that future games didn't solidify his genius status anyway.
So Otacon's father was already +40yo when he had Otacon? (He didn't appear so old in MGSV)

Despite his muscle infiltration suit, Old Snake's mission is one continuously repeating "Snake survives this" sin. Heck, he repeatedly gets his bones broken which his suit wouldn't protect him from and yet recovers to combat ready off-screen.
Also minus 50 sins for the Shadow Moses level. No-one saw it coming, it's amazingly recreated fan service chock full of easter eggs, has unique gameplay compared to both other MGS4 and MGS1 levels and the ability to use a railgun similar to Fortune's and pilot Metal Gear Rex in a fight against Metal Gear Ray. But add 3 sins for Old Snake being able to lift the railgun at all, the fight against Vamp, Raiden stopping the Ocelot's ship, Old Snake surviving in the cold without the perptide nanomachines Naomi gave him in MGS1 and how Ocelot got control of the ship and its weirdly all-female crew in skin-tight suits are never really explained.

If you're saying in your not native language fluidly, you can think in it, twist it with your own. Everyone speaks in English in this game, so that's probably Snake translating everything in fly
I believe the whole thing the Cobras is they all wanted a "warrior's death" and since The Boss was going to die at the end of everything they split up to take on her last apprentice in solo fights to achieve that.
As for The Fury and his Imotep thing, you should add more sins cause Kojima retconned The Fury into having been a host to alien energy-based lifeform and after you kill him it somehow later attaches itself to Dead Volgin to make the Burning Man in MGS5.
I was wondering if the Electrokinesis stuff was more "Parasites" like the explainations in MGSV or bizarre attempt of Russian Superscience to make a superhuman.

In regards to Ocelot's bullet being blank the other times? Yes, yes it was. It's why Snake only loses an eye due to the muzzle flash (extremely hot gunpowder going into his eye) instead of getting a bullet in his brain. The real problem is that it's NOT a blank if you purposely miss during that section!

I still feel like MGS4 was the most complete MGS game as far as a single game story arc versus the rest of the series. anyone could pick up MGS4 without having played any other MGS game and have a pretty decent clue of what happened outside of MGSV... though canonically it still works since David doesn't know about Medic becoming Venom a.k.a. the Big Boss he killed the first time around and just assumed he merked John twice during the conversation at the end, with John even alludes to.
17:28 EVA gave Granin those shoes because everybody knew there was a spy among GRU ranks. This way now everyone now thinks Granin was the spy, while in reality is Tatyana / EVA

I was expecting the call with Snake and Sigint talking about the Patriot gun to get sinned, considering they mention that the magazine shape is what gives it infinite ammo. Dartigan could’ve also used the scene of the Boss shooting the pod that Snake jumps out of at night.

Sin #37: Sigint didn't have a "personality change" as you say, because the DARPA-Chief we meet in MGS is not Donald Anderson. It's quite well known that that was Decoy Octopus imitating him to fool Snake. The real chief died several days before and had time to decompose, as Snake finds out once they lock him into the same cell.
And the reason Naomi describes Dr. Clarke as a man is that she never met her. She only ever heard of her being adressed with her title, of course you couldn't discern a gender from that information alone. C'mon man, alot of these are valid, sure, but some of these you're just making yourself look like you didn't pay attention to the games while playing them.
On another way some information need to dig a little and not just fast forward the story. I take time to try to found all the codec dialogues in every games, lot of informations when you take the time. The games have still silly cliché moments but many things are explained ( perhaps it's make nonsense, but I still admire the effort )... I was just a little disappointed in MGSV, kind of too easy on the explanation for finally hop everything...parasites, don't ask.
also, in MGS Universe you cant compare our technology from that time period because in MGS universe they were always ahead of us technologically. i mean the fear had stealth camo. in MGS universe they have clones, so MGS universe has shown us that they have tech way beyond what we had at the same time period. plus this is the CIA, so they should have all the best tech.

Well MGS1 says that Decoy Octopus copies his victims perfectly, even going as far as the blood. So either Sigint really had a big personality change or the game was just giving you bullshit, and Decoy Octopus' imitation of Sigint was terrible.

By giving sins to easter eggs or idiotic stuff like complaining that Metal Gears don't exist yet, but the mask at the start of the game says "metal gear solid".
It's a damn easter egg, it's like sinning Deviil May Cry 3 for having the number of the chapter in every ending scene.

Do you seriously think that every russian soldier is fluent in english?
Everything was "translated" for the player.
Sokolov even says to Snake: "by the way, your russian is superb." meaning that everybody is supposed to speak russian, considering where you are, but for the player's sake, it's in english.
It's not that they speak English, it's that they all sound American. Only one soldier, Johnny, has an excuse to sound American, as that's where his family lives and thus he could have lost his original Russian accent.

@@TeleportToKanye It is like when you watch a movie that takes place in the USA but you watch it in German. The characters are all gonna speak German without an accent because that would just be stupid
I've seen many games do it before, but the foreign characters speak in the accent of the language that they WOULD be saying. It's common practice and just makes sense. It's honestly kind of distracting and a bit ridiculous that Russian characters speak English but with AMERICAN accents.

So many people liked “The Sorrow” boss, a ‘Walking Simulator’, how ironic that a lot of people didn’t like Death Stranding 😏
It's different to have a boss in a game that demorallizes the player by talling up all the creatures and people you've murdered throughout the game, as you try to walk a lake surrounded by their souls and avoiding a ghost's "death by jumpscare" attack.
Than an entire game based on walking. (don't get my wrong, Dst. is a great game, but these are no equal.)
Everything is good in moderation. And DS is shitty not even. Ecause of that. Because it was plagued with stiff like recurring action animations for every little thing, cumbersome menus and laggy unsatisfying combat.

IMO both fascist empires were led to destroy each other and when it looked like Hitler is going to win, USA had to intervene and help the Soviets. After that Hitler was doomed, Soviets got lots of equipment, food etc. while Germany never even had enough fuel.

I've watched the Ocelot and EVA scene countless times, I'm 99% sure he shoots six times unless they just changed it in Snake Eater 3D. One of the shots is two of them in rapid succession.
Just watched it again, to triple check. There's definitely 6; the first three are in rapid succession, the fourth is on its own, and five/six are a bit slower.
As much as Sinking City should probably be covered, let's put Old Snake up to task.

The Shagohod's gimmick was that it didn't need a runway. It was supposed to be able to launch from any terrain, provided it had enough room. Not terribly much to ask if it's deployed in the steppe or a pre existing highway
i spit some of my drink out at around 10:13 ...the straight-faced delivery of 'a pair of boobs are introducing themselves to me', how it fits right in with the rest of these sins, almost makes it sound like some of Snake's Codec calls..."Colonel, theres a pair of boobs here..." ('have you said Hello to them yet, Snake?')...top it all off with a 'niS' sound effect (yknow, the reversed 'Sin' ding...its easier to call it a nis though lol)

Fun fact : there's a codec with sigint explaining how EVA was able to clear that building with the bike , basically this bike is meant to pull a (i think it was ) 300kg side-car or whatever its called , so apparently it has enough HP to make such a jump.

Ugh... The whole point is that Easter eggs are not supposed to conflict with canon. That figure doesn't conflict with MGS canon, because it is from a completely different universe. ZOtE is another fictional world, so you could easily say that a fanbase for such a fiction existed in any other game of any time period with no issues.

There is a reason for Snake having Raikov's mask, in some dialogue SIGINT explains that it was to be used in a scrapped idea for Snake's infiltration posing as Raikov form the begining but since he worked so hard on the mask he kept it on Snakes loadout.(Sorry for any grammatical error and the lack of the specific time the dialogue ocurs it has been years since i played MGS3 and i am not a native english speaker nor was i formally educated in the language)
I think the reason why they sent Snake in to kill The Boss wasn't because they were too dumb to think that he couldn't pull the trigger on his basically his mother figure, but it was because they were certain SHE would not pull the trigger on him.
It makes sense if you think about it like that. It's like sending a son to kill their mother. In the end that is her child and she loves him and can't bring herself to pull the trigger, so she needs to give her child a reason to kill her.
Except for the countless times she shoots at him during the boss fight but sure

I just watched "The End's" boss fight, and while it is unique it's also kinda dumb that they make you sneak up on him after hyping him up as this "Father of Sniping" like shouldn't that be the end of the fight when you reach him? Instead if you don't see the flashbang coming or even if you do he just trouts away and you can't kill him with one headshot?
To be fair there are many other components to the fight such as how you interact with your environment to effect how you can sneak up on him. The fight was always intended to be an endurance battle and the fact you can skip it simply by skipping the clock ahead 2 weeks is attention to detail I can admire. Another small detail is that if you shoot the End's parrot (it's usually either a top the massive white oak tree or the ammo shed) he doesn't give away your location during the battle. It's a subjective fight but I do admire small things like that.

I think The End is the best boss fight in video game history. Bosses are supposed to challenge the player to play the game better then normal and the End does exactly that. The whole game is about survival and fighting The End is more then a sniper fight, it's a lot like fighting the Predetor in the first movie.
That being said, you can easily beat him and undermind the fight just like shooting Niketa missles into Sniper Wolf in the first MGS

In regard to Snake "only getting a Distinguished Service Cross" for saving the world, its the 2nd highest medal for heroism a soldier in the Army can earn. All things considered that's probably the highest award they could give him and maintain at least some secrecy on the nature of the mission. Since as you mention, knowledge of The Boss' existence and mission would basically never leave the intelligence community, its unlikely they would want any details of that action to enter the public sphere. The Medal of Honor is an in-depth process that requires input from at least 8 different organizations and individuals, including Congressional Houses.
The bigger sin is that when Big Boss goes to salute The Boss' grave, he's in full dress uniform with no rank on his sleeves, but wearing a green beret, which is just odd, given that to be or have been active in US Army Special Forces, your going to be a Sergeant at least.

A little secret not a lot of us seem to know. In mgs3 in the last showdown between ocelot and snake, if you aim at the wall rather than at him it leaves a hole it the wall which ocelot looks at in a little alternate scene. Meaning that if you purposely miss it alters the timeline in a small way.

The Fear should have the same stuff as Quiet, or the rest of the Skulls
Originally, Skullface found The End’s body and that’s what gave him the idea to experiment with the parasites in the first place
The parasites are a retcon MGSV came up with, and it has no connection nor does it sync with any other game because kojima didnt think about making it fit

Another sin for the stupid way you can end a boss fight in a MGS game.
You can literally just adjust your console a week ahead and The End will be dead from "old age".
Wtg Kojima, end a fight with the two best Snipers in your games. One dies of old age and the other gets shit dropped on her head from a few hundred meters away. Although on extreme, she dodges it if you don't pop out every few seconds to distract her from moving.
My vote for the next game to be sinned is MGS 4 Guns of the Patriots!

One thing I want to point out, Snake getting the Distinguished Service Cross wouldn't be a sin. To get the medal of honor, you need congressional approval. If this is a clandestine mission that the public is not to be aware of, DSC would be the highest medal he could get with the least amount of people knowing about it, as only the Secretary of the Army need approve it.

MGS4 had hilariously long cutscenes and a million different plot threads concluding and tying up at any given minute. I still absolutely loved it! Not as much as MGS3, but it's still one of my favorite games of all time.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the fact that she was late into pregnancy/ pregnant at all during the war and Normandy especially. I don't think a military of any country at any time would allow that.

We can prove that The End photosynthesizing with only his head exposed still works. In the game, if you can get close enough to The End and put a gun to his head, you aquire the Moss Camo. Using this, you can recover stamina (also health if i remember correctly) through photosynthesis. Although The End doesn't wear the Moss Camo, we can confirm he has technology at the very least sufficient for the creation of camouflage that photosynthesizes.

It is never explicitly mentioned, but it's heavily implied by the timeline and other details.
During an optional call to sigint he tells you about how Ocelot was the son of a legendary hero and was born on a battlefield. Although Sigint doesn't know who the mother is he knows she had a snake shaped scar thanks to the birth. Before you fight the boss at the end she shows you that scar and tells you she gave birth on the battlefield.
