35 and never thought I would buy a brand new truck before I retired but the wife has given the go ahead. I knew the discipline would pay off eventually! Wooooo baby I can’t wait!
Dealerships will never allow a vehicle to be sold at a reasonable price. Even if manufacturers can set a low MSRP, the dealers will double the price in some cases due to “market demand”.
The truck that is more retro will be my pick. I do not need turbo, neck wrenching HP, sun roofs, fancy infotainment, tires/wheels, digital controls, etc. Just basic functionality, towing, hauling in moderate ranges, able to put two adults and two kids in truck, good size bed, front wheel drive. If that new hydrogen engine (Astron) specs out in a vehicle size it will be a game changer, else I just need a reliable V6, naturally aspirated with great torque and I will not need more that 4 gears. 80 percent of electronic crap in cabin is worthless. Backup camera is the only good thing. I am old school on maintenance, check my own tires, etc.
Yes the color of the kislux is beautiful and it is a great decision, maybe one day they will add feet and straps. It would be nice to have a bigger bag during the colder months when we have to store gloves, beanies, scarves, etc…
My wife and I liked them so much we bought TWO of them! Alot of people don't know that it's available in Cat "Electric Blue" as well, so mine is yellow and hers is blue. The new 5.0L CAT diesel is phenomenal......... it's so quiet you can't even hear it run. Plus, I'm getting 35 MPG overall, which is even better than our Hona Civic! What a fantastic truck.
I wonder why big motor companies don't heed the trends. Pick-up trucks for a lot of younger people (under 45) involve gadgets and being more like SUV's. They like the sleek unisex/macho look and lots computer and electronic capabilities. Most of us farmers, construction guys, rural and inclement weather folk don't like all the electronics and glitz. Check out the price rise in any pre-2006 used pick-up. Aside from putting $25K to $35K into one and have it completely rebuilt, they don't require the specialized maintenance and godawful wait for parts. You can change your own oil, and do minor repairs that don't involve special tools. Diagnosing any problem on electronic loaded vehicles can only be done by highly skilled specialists. There are a few good innovations like tire pressure warning and anti-lock brakes, but most of the extra features are costly ad ons that do not make the car that much safer. I hear more and more people tell me they don't want to keep diverting their attention to a mid-dashboard screen and then touching something they didn't intend to and have to pull over to readjust it, if they can even figure it out. Very Dangerous! Windows that work with hand cranks are wonderful and simple heaters beat climate control all to heck. How about a simple radio with knob functions to tune it or raise the volume. Some of the radios in today's vehicle require three or four different images on the screen to just change the station. Keys worked for 100 years, who needs the gizmos, fobs and code panels to get in and start the engine. You use your key and in less than two minutes you are on the road. We do like lots of cargo (throw a whole sheet of plywood in the box) space and can live with bench seats that we park our arses on with moderate comfort. My guess is that caterpillar has made a big mistake by ignoring those of us who need a reliable, heavy duty work truck and not a moving entertainment center.
Ford made? Do you have a single fact to back that up? This thing has not even been confirmed by CAT, and it's highly doubtful they would do something like this....DoT regulations.
With all the recalls out there today on, Chevy GM, Ford, and Hyundai.. I would be willing to risk a recall or two on a CAT truck, yep it looks like a muscle truck and a boss of the road.
Need more info. Is it just a re-badge of another manufacturer?? Or do they make their own power train? Also why would they be making a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup and not have a diesel option? Honestly, I think with the name recognition cat has, if they were serious, they should start making these at a loss to get their trucks dispersed. Maybe a base more basic model in the 20k range. People can't afford new trucks these days. Most can't afford a $1,000+ car payment. Screw that.

The “CAT” semi trucks ended up being piles of $h!t with “international diesel engines” same piece of $h!t power stroke engine company Ford uses. CAT needs to make their own compact turbo diesel engine for these.
how is that pick-up truck in any way, consistent with the brand CAT? - sure, the colors, and symbology are correct, but everything else is inconsistent with the brand's purpose. and, the purpose isn't simply to 'sell' - but to sell, exceedingly well, based on the brand-niche that CAT represents...not the smartest CEO...
