  • Hey everyone !
    I know I have been making a lot of nursing videos but I could not pass up the chance to collaborate with little sister. Molly just finished her BSN program and I thought we could share both of our thoughts and experiences since I graduated from an ADN program. I hope that we touched on all (most) points. Please like, comment and subscribe below. Tell me your thoughts ! Which program do you prefer? If you already graduated, tell me your experiences !

    My daughter is in last semester in nursing school (adn) and the pay is the same but the job she’s been offered she needs to get her bsn within 5 years. They will pay for her bsn. Out of pocket she will only pay around 2k to get her bsn

      @@ramom2772 I am not an RN, nor have I worked in the healthcare field, but I have friends who are RNs. ASN-to-BSN programs are usually 2 years and it can all be done entirely online. ASN-to-BSN programs, from what I have been told, are all theory classes and is not as difficult as obtain an ASN since most of the important aspect of being a nurse have been covered in the ASN degree, especially the clinical portion.

    I'm in an accelerated ASN/LVN program offered through a University.
    We also need to do Volunteer hours.
    And all of those requirements of science are built in to the School
    Because we get an Associate's degree and
    An LVN certificate upon graduation
    It's a 17 month Course.
    But it's easier to bridge into an ADN /BSN program without any trouble.
    That's the route I chose to take
    But overall it's a great field so however U get it done.

    Great video you two. Was wondering if you guys can give some advice on my situation.. I have a bachelors in exercise science. Graduated with a 2.92 gpa. Want to go the absn route but I doubt I can get in with this low gpa. And I keep hearing mixed thoughts about adn and the job outlook and how most places want a bsn>adn. So just afraid that if I am forced to go the adn route (don’t get accepted into absn) I will struggle with finding a job. I live in philly btw.

    • @aomysirapa
      @aomysirapa  3 года назад +5

      I started with an ADN. I worked in a clinic and a tiny hospital. They were fine with it as long as I passed my NCLEX. But, I live in CA so I can’t say about Philly. But.. most magnet status hospitals will only hire BSN or BSN in progress. I would suggest doing some research around your area. As far as your GPA, most ADN programs minimum is 2.5 GPA so you need to ace all those nursing pre requisite classes and do well on your TEAS exam. Even an ADN program was very competitive for me and I had to retake anatomy to have my GPA be at least a 3.4

      it can take 4 years or longer depending on how long it takes to do prerequisites it can even take some people 3 years to do prerequisites , so it can take 5 years. i know someone who even took 6 years to get adn at a community college.

    Hi I like your video.😊❤️ I just want to ask if I transfer to community college to take Adn but I have some units I finished with my Biology program. Do that means that I'll take again some units I have finished on my BsBiology program if I take Adn?

      If you already took classes in bio that were the same in nursing you should not have to retake it. But it depends on your school

    • @aomysirapa
      @aomysirapa  4 года назад +1

      For me it took 3 years to complete all my pre requisites and 2 years to complete the ADN program. So a total of 5 years

      I just looked the website of my local community college and they have Pre-Nursing (prerequisites) and Nursing ADN (the actual program) the prerequisites should take about 1 year and a half and the actual nursing program should take about 2 years so all together I would say 3 years to 3.5 years. I know everyone is different but there’s no way it should take you 5 years for a ADN. That’s longer then a BSN
