The Netflix Series "First Love" is a new story that has been crafted through inspiration from two songs by Hikaru Utada: the 1999 smash hit and musical gem "First Love," and "Hatsukoi," released 19 years later. The story follows a couple retracing their memories of their unforgettable first love over the course of more than 20 years and spanning three decades: the late '90s, the 2000s, and the present.
The ultimate love story presented by the miraculous combination of Hikari Mitsushima, Takeru Satoh, director Yuri Kanchiku and the songs of Hikaru Utada

After watching this in 24 hours and emptying a box of tissues, I want to say this was the best series and romance I've watched in months. Each episode made me cry, smile and laugh. And the music at the end finished me. It's slow paced and that's why it's even more powerful. Go watch it you won't regret it!

i cried so hard watching this drama. one of the best japanese drama i ever watched. the plot, stroyline, actor, actress , songs fit so well in this drama. hope there will be season 2
Just finished the series few minutes ago. What a ride. It evokes a lot of memories within me. I smile, laugh and cry with them. And it brings me back to my teenage years when I daydream about my first love everytime I listened to the song lol
I haven't felt this kind of vibe from a drama or movie in ages, I've been waiting for something like this, can't wait to watch it. And of course Takeru Satoh ❤
This song is so iconic to me and I’m so pleased to see it as part of a soundtrack to what looks like a good series!!
Utada Hikaru first love is still good so many years later, from Ghana.
The fact that this a whole series makes me intrigued. Seems likely that there’s a lot of depth to this story. It’s not your typical romantic drama adaptation. Seems like it’s more about the tales of heartbreak and finding the strength to reconcile with departed people in your life.
The amount of times I've already rewatched this trailer is unhealthy

I have watched a lot of dramas but this one is the ONLY series that made me cry because of the pure happiness of being in love. The actors, OST, editing, cinematography and dialogues are all perfect. Definitely the best!
The cinematography and especially the color grading are so nice.

When I saw ‘First Love’ and ‘Hatsukoi’ I immediately thought of Utada’s songs. To hear them suddenly play in the trailer was so satisfying.

The issues are real.. divorce, pain, hardships, career choice, empathy with persons with disability/ sign language, child custody issues, mother & son relationship, talk about porn materials, little nudity, sacrifice, letting go & most especially the drama is on point.

More than the story, (which I really like) it is always this "First Love" song that unlocks all the emotions in me. The nostalgia it brings is too much for me to handle.
