Thanks to the Jujutsu Kaisen Databook there are infinite things to learn about our characters, like did you know that Gege says if Yuji wasn’t a Sorcerer he would have grown up to be a firefighter instead because of his drive to help people? We also learn that Yuji first fell in love with Jennifer Lawrence after seeing her in the Silver Linings Playbook, but speaking of movies we find out that the movies that Gojo rented for Yuji to watch during his training in Season 1 were Leon: The Professional, The Descent, The Host which in particular i’m sure was fitting for Yuji to watch, and The Emperor’s Naked Army Marches on, but the movie that Gojo spoiled for Yuji is called Deep Blue Sea, a 1999 movie starring Samuel Jackson based around a trio who fights a group of intelligent sharks, which almost reminds me of the battle between Dagon and the Zenin’s so that might have been a bit of Foreshadowing there. Continuing on Gege Akutami actually says that he doesn’t really like Yuji, causing his editor to ask him why choose a character he has such difficulty with as his protagonist, to which Gege responds that it’s not like he hates Yuji, he just realizes that he’s not good at handling him but he’s trying to improve and says that soon he’ll chip away at the character so hopefully soon we’ll see what the end result of that chipping will finally reveal.

Most of his fight with Gojo says the opposite, he hates everyone and only loves 1 thing, looking at people cry about it on twitter, which I respect

For me the error of Gege is making Gojo part of the story or give at least make him so OP that can be hard to write around him to make things more interesting and exciting for people who can easily predict what's going to happen next.

It doesn't reference Human Centipede. It exactly references Slither, a movie where a guy turned to a worm monster but his girl still loved him in the end.
He also watched Lord of the Rings, but don't ask me what that was supposed to be a reference for. As a side note + some useless knowledge, I love how in the German version, the voice actors for Frodo and Sam were the exact same as in the actual movie trilogy xD

How though? Just because he gave a bunch of the villains good screen time and are actually effective. Bruh literally half of Suguru Geto's original squad is split up or dead. The Disaster Curses all got killed. Choso changes sides. Haruta Shigemo got pieced up by Nanami and was killed by Sukuna. What more do any of you want? The villains aren't favored over the heroes and are literally getting their asses beat by most of them.
@@milicenty Kenjaku sealed away Gojo, Kenjaku defeated Yuki and Choso using plot armor to survive a blackwhole, Kenjaku 's plan in the Culling Games went flawlessly, Sukana defeats Gojo with minimal damage and a massive power up, Kashimo gets wiped by Sukuna, Sukana doesn't get his Cursed Technique confiscated due to plot armor, Sukana tears through the entire cast after Gojo, Higuruma is brutally murdered after it's shown he has the potential to surpass Gojo.

In the movie Deep Blue Sea, where Sam Jackson stars in, he gets killed off, which surprises the watchers because he’s already a big star at the time (and a cliche where the big stars don’t die in the movie). Very fitting for Gojo’s predicament.

Why does an author have to like every character that he writes? Maybe for Gege it's just like exploring something new that he doesn't particularly like or care about but forced himself to do.
Im rather new to the series, having only started getting into it like 2 weeks go, with first the movie and later season 1 of the anime. and I became an insta-fan of basically the entire cast, including Yuji.

Most of it is people complaining for no reason. The story is still good, most decisions are good and make sense, twitter is being dumb as always(they are still saying that season 2 is garbage even after the latest episode). Some people also complain because they stan specific characters too much

You can tell Gege cares less bout the characters and more about the challenge of writing for them. Which is good! obviously can still have issues but it makes a lot of sense when you consider his distaste for Gojo, it’s too easy to write for him.

This seems to happen often with some mangas/books - the author just loses interest with the characters and the story and you can usually tell at what point they stop putting their heart into it and just start killing everyone.

I like it when writers bring the difficulties of writing, if you look at the other members of the cast you notice how different Yuji is so of course Gege is going to find it difficult to write for the kid
Honestly I’m ok with him not liking Itadori because it’s challenging to write for him (basically he’s challenging himself to improve as a storyteller by getting out of his comfort zone).
Still, seeing how Nanami is his fav character, I think Yuuji’s safe until maybe the end of the series

As a hobby author (and hopefully a real one in the future), I've learned from other authors that "the (good) character who suffers the most, is also the same one the author likes the most". I don't know who's Gege's favourite character... maybe Megumi? Even though Yuji has experienced quite the amount of shlt, it's probably not enough for Gege to actually like him lol. That's a bit sad, but maybe this will change in the future.

I think it’s admirable to have a character you struggle to write with as your protagonist. It helps to iron out those writing faults you have if you put them front and center. Gege comes off as someone like me, a person who really wants their projects to be the best possible version it can be once it’s finalized. That means painstakingly working on all those little details for HOURS until your satisfied with the result. I always say you are your own worst critic and I’m pretty sure the same applies to him.
This is probably the main reason he killed Gojo too. He either thought having an OP character like him still around would null and void any potentially better writing options or found himself stumped as to how he could further advance the character and thought cutting him loose was the best move rather than risk ruining him.
I can relate to some characters being an absolute pain to write and figure out, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like that character. Some characters are just highly complex!!
And this is why Jujutsu kaisen is so interesting

That's super relatable, I DM for quite a few tabletop campaigns, getting into the mindset of some personalities of characters in order to express their feelings thoughts and struggles can be quite difficult, especially when they're so different from who you are IRL.
