Hi Nancy, I hope all your ❤ loved ones are safe from the fires. In 1967, I bought the YOLT 45 record with LEE and you on the flip-side performing JACKSON…and I still own it! I excited to hear your stories of working with Billy Strange and the CREW on the changes to this cut of YOLT vs. the JOHN BARRY soundtrack cut. Thank you for sharing your talent with us all. Such an interesting story. I'm glad you're immortalized with the other illustrious, select few who sang Bond movie theme songs...your voice keeps me coming back for more, Nancy
This is a timeless song. It was the moment any of Nancy’s versions were released. The song itself is one of my favorite passions… I mean that in finding new (to me) cover versions of this classic song… from vocal versions to instrumental versions from rock to punk to downtempo… This song is one of those songs which I always stop to listen to… And it all started with Nancy’s two versions. Although it really would have been cool if Frank Sinatra had just done a version for posterity. ❤
I remember meeting her in the lobby of a hotel and I was wearing my “these boots are made for walking” t-shirt, I was thrilled but she was more thrilled than I was... this was in the late 80s. Unforgettable moment. One of my best celebrity meetings in Los Angeles.
Nancy always had an almost modern Mae West quality. STEAMY. A great career. I used to live next to the Tamarisk Country Club and liked that the Sinatras were often nearby.
Saw Nancy in the Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh ( her first solo show in the UK apparently) In 2002. Nancy and Kick Ass Band where Ace! Also have this on Video Remember them??
The single version is way over done. Too many vocal tracks, too much instrumentation and over produced. The original soundtrack version is by far the best.
Nancy couldn't sing...she was a nepotism phenomena. John Barry had to piece her performance together because she couldn't even hit the notes - it was a nightmare session for all involved, including Nancy. The single version ended up being an over-processed mess. Lee Hazlewood made Nancy Sinatra a pop sensation with songs she could belt out with a country-music-style monotone. Bubblegum pop muzak recording is still very much alive today so that many less-than-talented folks can still have a hit song.
What rot. Nancy and Hazelwood achieved success over many years. Not even Sinatra would claim to be a top singer. She was chosen for the film ahead of far better vocalists. Her father repeatedly turned the producers down. Nepotism cannot sell millions of records.
Beautiful song, so iconic
My Favorite James Bond Song❤Great Nancy Sinatra🎉
Also my favorite with close second All Time High by Rita Coolidge.
One of the best Bond themes.
Her voice makes the song twice as nice.
Wow! I was unaware of the single version!
What a beautiful song. Great vocal by Nancy, of course, and that opening is something else, to!
Majestic and marvelous!
John Barry's film version is the ultimate take , far more elegant and evocative than the single version
Yes. 1000 times Yes. Plus, the film intro montage is riveting.
Thank you for sharing this Nancy! ❤
The single version is one of my favorites from that era. Thanks for the background information on how it was recorded.
One of my ultimate favorite songs!
Thanks for this! 🫂
Love the single version. Lee was a genius.

One of the best Bond themes, along with Live and Let D!e, and A View to a Kill.

Remember them??
Don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone.
I have the single, but much prefer the soundtrack version.
much prefer the movie version
Has the first instrumental part sampled later? It sounds very familiar.
mad men season finale

Like Cher said in Clueless, "That was way harsh, Tai!"
