Personally I still think most of the dessert parties are a bit overpriced. I like the idea of them and would love to do the frozen one someday. But I think they should be somewhere around the $40-$50 dollar mark, not $70+

Don't forget, at the Frozen Ever After party, you get special viewing glasses that make the fireworks look like snowflakes.. pretty cool! It was a pretty good party, food, drink were good, and going on the ride was a very nice addition! Doing the Star Wars one on my trip in October, so really looking forward to that one!

I've been to the happily ever after, frozen ever after and star wars dessert parties. By far, the star wars one was the best (especially if you are a fan) they had character interactions, interesting food and a gift at the end

I think you missed a lot of info. When we went to Star wars, it was open bar and they had frozen nutella ice cream. Freeze dried. Also charcters walk around and interact with you. I hear now you can see Kylo and Chewy. Its also in doors in AC then you walk out to fireworks.

@@eyenocynema just went Wednesday and it's bottomless drinks. They even give you one for each hand as youre walking out. Kylo and stormtroopers were the interactive part, but the line for chewie was empty at that time of night so we could have easily jumped over there to see him during the party

We went, and it was open bar. After my first 2 drinks, I went over to the bar station and was sure to tip the bartender. My next 2 drinks were in taller glasses. :) The specialty drinks were DELICIOUS.
The frozen Nutella icecream was amazeballs. That action station took a scoop of the ice cream, then dropped it into a big bowl of liquid nitrogen. It fizzled and was all smoky. Very fun effect! Then, the cast member scooped it out and put it into a bowl. Then, with both hands, smacked the bowl down on the table. That altered the super-frozen ice cream and it turned into this really cold, super mousse-like treat. Then you could add either raspberry sauce or chocolate drizzle on top. It was delicious.
We had meet and greets with Kylo Ren and Chewbacca AND BB8. Very short waits, 2-3 minutes at each. Disney Photographers were at all and took our photos.
The stormtroopers mulled around and interacted with my daughter (21yo) and she did NOT expect that! They had a little padewan area and when the stormtroopers led us out to the viewing area (which was fantastic), the little padewan kids held up their light sabers and were right behind the stormtroopers. The seating was perfection. We had little low circular brick planter 'wall' around the perimeter and I sat there. Others chose to sit on the pavement. It was very comfortable and the projection show fills your entire perifery. It was breathtaking. The fireworks were minor, but were timed with the action in the show and it was truly spectacular.
This was WELL worth the $79. Our 'gift' was a Darth Vader stein. Oh! when we arrived, we were given special lanyards with a large plastic VIP dessert party sign (fun souvenir to bring home). It also listed all the desserts on the back. The dessert tables were very nicely staged and there were a few hot/savory options as well. Being inside, with air conditioning in the hot, late June evening, was a huge relief. By the time we finished and went outside, the sun was down and it had cooled off quite a bit. Don't miss this one!!

I got to experience Happily Ever After with the seats under the Tomorrowland Terrance and we watched the show during a thunderstorm! Everyone was stuck in the rain for the fireworks, but we were lucky enough to stay dry and actually enjoy the show!

I disagree about the Frozen ever after just because there are SO many good viewing spots for illuminations and many places where you can sit, back in the UK at the fish and chip shop, the steps in Italy, Spice road table restaurant. Id rather spend that $79 at Les Halles or Kringela Bakery and get better stuff. Though I tend not to be able to eat very much at once so any buffet type things I generally dont find worth it. I do think getting good views of Happily ever after if more difficult. So it might only be worth it is you only have 1 chance to see the show, but if your there for a long trip or can go once a year its probably not worth it.

We were fortunate to do all the dessert parties except, the river of lights during our last trip. My favorites being the Star Wars dessert party and MK dessert party.
The unique thing about frozen was that my daughters got to “lead” the group to the viewing area however, we felt a bit rushed for the amount paid and no characters =(. The perk of not needing a fast pass for frozen ever after was nice but, I don’t feel it was worth the amount.
Star Wars overall experience, character visits, desserts designs and souvenir cup made it my favorite. Viewing for the show was comfortable.
Happily Ever After, before party was my next favorite. The convenience of the spacious seating and not having to hold down a spot for an hour makes it worth it to me. However, check in time was a bit early to be consuming desserts for my family.
Our upcoming trip we are doing the after dessert party at MK. I actually think this will be enjoyed more. We can really sit down and enjoy desserts while, avoiding the leaving crowd. Also, will be attending river of lights dessert party. Excited to experience that.
Overall, I think they are all worth atleast one visit for the experience however, I would recommend Magic Kingdom dessert party for every trip. The reserved seating area is the icing on the cake!

I enjoy your blog and videos but I'm a bit confused because the star wars dessert party was amazing for my family. What set it apart was the character meet & greet just for those attending the party. We got great interaction and pictures plus the opportunity to see all the star wars artifects from the movies. Not to mention the specialty alcohol drinks which we loved as adults and the fireworks viewing area. Worth every penny😊

I’ve only done the Happily Ever After dessert party with plaza garden viewing, and I 100% agree with your review. I went during opening weekend of the show, so having reserved spots was absolutely worth the expense. However, the desserts themselves were mediocre at best. The action stations weren’t around during my last visit, so it’s nice to know efforts are being made the make the experience a bit more worth it. I would only book this again if I know I’m visiting the park during peak season.

We're doing the Rivers of Light Dining Package, since with that we get the reserved seating and a character breakfast for $39/adult. I think it is the better option than the dessert party you mentioned they also have. We look at it as free reserved seating for a meal we would be paying for otherwise.

HSH H My daughter (teenager) and I went in July. The one thing she said she wanted to do on the trip was see the Happily Ever After fireworks. I knew you need to be able to see the castle because of all of the projections. So, for a special treat we went to the dessert party (garden one). Totally worth it! We were able to enjoy must try foods I heard about from DFB and it’s comment section without having to go to special restaurants. The Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake was fantastic! And they had cheeseburger egg rolls! The best part was the special area we were escorted to. It was roomy and had a fantastic view of the most beautiful fireworks. If you have small kids it’s nice too. A bunch of little ones were having a bubble party with their bubble blowers. The kids could be a little active and you didn’t have to worry about them getting lost in the crowd. Enjoy! I’d do this again.

We had a great time at the Star Wars dessert party. Unless it has changed since I went, one big bonus was the Star Wars characters were all available to go meet. My little cousin got to meet BB-8, Chewbacca, and Kylo Ren to his heart's content. We all took turns accompanying him and it was super fun! Also, you get the Storm Troopers too. This might have changed, but I felt that was a nice bonus.

The only thing I feel compelled to point out, while Rivers of Light is nice, it does not rise to the level of the other shows. It reminds me of a smaller illuminations with no pyro and brighter colors. If you have not seen it, I would do it once, but if you are doing just ONE party the experience doesn't rise to the levels of the other and I would not put that one into the mix (my vote is Tomorrowland Terrace, especially during peak time when the courtyard is so packed, that reserved seating is worth its space in gold...) Also worth considering, if you are on a meal plan, you can eat a larger lunch and use the dessert party savory options to fill up that night instead of perhaps a TS meal and save a credit for later or a 2 credit venue, offsetting some of the cost of the party)

I feel that since they *couldn't* use fireworks it forced them to be more creative and really push the envelope. I was hoping for more information regarding the relative views. For example, it looks like the Magic Kingdom party seating is off to the side - does this obstruct any of the projections onto the castle? And did AJ mention the view at Hollywood Studios Star Wars at all? I'm blanking now. LOL For the cost and the relative tameness of the food items, a seat and a really good view would be the essential components for me in deciding which party to do.

Love this video! Had to watch because I have only worked the Magic Kingdom dessert party! I'm visiting Disney in May and had to check out the other dessert parties 💜
When I worked for the Tomorrowland Terrace, I personally thought that the after fireworks DP was better because
    1. You can get your wrist bands first and go pick out a spot for the firework show
    2. There's less people that do this tier
    3. You get to relax and eat food while everyone is trying to get out of the park
    4. You can watch Once Upon A Time comfortably while eating
The terrace is great, the seating is (in my opinion) good most of the time. It's based on first come first served. This is just my opinion, I loved the idea of this dessert party tho 💜💜

On my last Disney trip, I booked a dessert party and it was the best way to end the day! I remember the lady from Disney saying she never saw anyone from Brazil there and I thought I had AJ to thank for!
I am excited with these new additions! I missed salted goodies on my party last time! Lucky I brought some Mickey pretzel in or I couldn't get that much sugar all at once! These dessert parties are also great for allergies. They have a list of everything on the buffets and lists of a huge number of allergens. Some of the buffets actually give you the list to walk around with, the others will just have the chef go through it with you. Many of the dessert buffets also give you a really cute paper bag covered with Minnie and Mickey (same theme bag at all parties) and it's filled of extra items that are safe for your specific allergy (dietary restriction). Handy to know. We did all parties at each park during our last trip, noted the allergy and were well taken care of at every dessert party. Was very impressed (as always with Disney and their excellent handling of allergies/dietary restrictions). We did Fantasmic dessert party too and they do have an allergy food box that is a little different to the regular one.

I liked the garden view - we actually could lay down and stretch out for awhile before the show. It was such a prize getting to LAY DOWN and relax in the MK! the Dessert is fine. We do it for the reserved seating really. It’s so good to not stress over finding a good viewing area and after the show the MK is sooo crowded trying to get out of the lake- we were able to stay and chill in the garden viewing area away from the crowds. Priceless !

We did the Pirate and Pals Fireworks Dessert Voyage, so you meet Hook and Smee (and someone else flies in after the show), the eats are cheap and not really the focus, it’s a good one for kids but you cannot always see the fireworks well, when we went we were sat on the side of the boat further from the castle so you couldn’t see some of the higher fireworks because of the boat roof (request to sit on Left-opposite side to which you board). You obviously can’t see the projections on the castle so I would suggest see the fireworks close up first then later in the holiday do the boat. The boat trip is fun, there is a quiz with little prizes, songs and jokes. Also if you are with people who like pirates head over to Caribbean Beach resort they have some activities and the pirates (not hook or smee) someone come around and sing at dinner.

Not sure about Star Wars but Jingle Bell Jingle Bam also includes special closer viewing area which is really important if you don’t want to wait forever to get a viewing spot that’s further back. Also it’s great to get that Frozen FP but there are so many viewing spots for illuminations around world showcase especially seated viewing at restaurants like Rose and Crown and La Hacienda, that the dessert party with seating isn’t as essential as it is at MK.

We did the Star Wars Dessert Party. Our main complaint was there was no seating in the dessert area. After a long day at the park, it would have been nice to have some chairs. You also get to see the Start Wars Movie clips and then the fireworks which is great. One other nice touch is that a pair of stormtroopers escort you to the viewing area. We got a silver Captain Phasma stein. That looks great as opposed to the Chewbacca stein which we think looks creepy! lol.

It's interesting that you say the Star Wars party doesn't have a lot going on, and then recommend the MK dessert party, because they seem pretty evenly-matched to me... And if anything, Star Wars has a slight edge because of the souvenir, all other things being equal. I think what matters here is the fireworks, and which show means more to whomever is visiting. If you have Star Wars fans, like we do, there is NO contest. I'd actually bought tickets for MK because they didn't release Star Wars party tickets until so late, I thought maybe they weren't going to do it anymore. My husband and I attended the Star Wars dessert party. The food options were okay, but nothing great. The over-21 drink options were "cocktails" akin to kerosene; no wine or beer served. Bar-height small round tables were set up, but couldn't accommodate everyone, so many folks wandered around with a paper plate full of sugary desserts and a drink. The food, drinks and venue were disappointing, and in my opinion, not worth the price we paid. We did enjoy the dedicated space to watch the fireworks show, but that too was standing only.

During my last trip in November of 2017, we did the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing. I loved it. We got a wonderful see to watch the Happily Ever After show. The only con o had was we had a dinner reservation before the party. We were all full and didn’t eat a whole lot. But it was still worth it.

My husband and I the sit down Happily Ever After Dessert Party as a date night. It was worth the price for us because it was a nice break from our kids but also not being around a ton of people. We loved it and it revived our excitement for the rest of the trip. I wouldn't pay the money for my kids to go but definitely a good date night for couples. We want to try the Star Wars one next time or just do the Happily Ever After again.

I did that last night for my friend's bday and loved it!!! I am a huge, die hard fan of ROL. I have seen all the shows multiple times and it's hands down my fave. I feel like fireworks are a shortcut to being impressive. Just because it's brighter and louder doesn't mean it's better!! And if you have sensory issues or PTSD it can kill you. I dunno, just seems like this "has to be bigger and louder to be the best" is lazy and cheap. Quiet and subtle can be amazing!! (Maybe I'm weird though. Who knows?!)

It *sounds* like they're getting better at doing these, we've done the dessert party at Magic Kingdom when it was just the terrace twice - seating was reserved but the balcony on the terrace was clear so basically after desserts you went up the balcony and hoped you got a decent view without too many people in front of you (on the same balcony - woe if you're short like me!). Interesting changes! We're dithering on doing them again. They did take care of me for my allergy issues, so be sure to let them know when booking you have an allergy. We did the Illuminations dessert party when it was relatively new and (before it became frozen ever after) and we had a horrible experience with the checking in and getting in - one cast member was telling people (we didn't remember who it was and couldn't find her after the checkin to identify her) they could just come back when it was time and another one was sending people to line up somewhere nearby in a marked off area that we didn't know about- so it was a mad dash to the tables - and despite our being early to check in we had an horrible experience getting in. I'll never forget that, that ruined the magic for us and after complaining to the cast member who we think was in charge, it was basically 'sorry, we didn't tell people that' which was not true, another family next to us said they had the same happen to them. So sounds like it's better organized now...

We just did the Frozen Dessert Party on Feb 1, 2020 and I was VERY disappointed! 2 food tables with subs & hummus and one with desserts. THAT WAS IT! 7 choices on the main tables and then they had the alcohol, coffee, tea and soda and the frozen hazelnut ice cream and well as some fruit and a cobbler. We paid $100 each for this and the firework show was 11 minutes. Prices keep going up and quality is going down. Paid over $700 for our party and we should’ve done an after hours event instead.

I have to say... We THOROUGHLY enjoyed the dessert party we attended when we went last year. For me, it didn't seem like it was priced too outlandishly to add just one special event for the family, and we got great viewing for one of the light shows. For me, I'd probably skip the one in Epcot (just personal preference) because the Frozen ride was among my least favorites and because there are so many good viewing areas around Epcot that you really don't need to reserve one. (It's one of the reasons I love Epcot's show so much. No standing in line for it!)
We did the Fantasmic option last time, and while it's not as much food as the others, it was still a lot of food. I took home half of my box. The huge blue margarita that was included was good and in a souvenir light up mug. (We also got bottled water.) For the price, I feel like we definitely got our money's worth-- a show, some snacks, and a souvenir. Next trip, we'll probably skip but only because I want to do the Star Wars party instead. We'll probably also go ahead and add the Happily Ever After show with seating. I'm holding out on the Animal Kingdom party-- mostly because of the no seating. If they did add the Flight of Passage ride (or both Pandora rides) and some seating, I would absolutely be IN.

Hubs and I did the plaza garden viewing party on Valentines and it was a wonderful add on. The only hiccup was a man near us being creeptastic and rude to the workers AND his family. The workers were great, I dunno what crawled up his butt.
Note: because it was Valentines they had special decorations on the food and the terrace and it was honestly a little crowded.. also I cried through the entire show (Happy tears, I promise), but still it was 100% worth it since I hadn't been to the parks in 20 years.

Great job, as always AJ! I did the MK Dessert Party about 7 years ago, and it was just "okay". Did it as a treat/thankyou to some friends, so for that reason, as a special treat, was worth it, but probably would not do again. Greta point on including the ride on FEA in Epcot, and suggestion for FOP! That might make it worth it, for sure!!

I did the Illuminations DP and it wasn't worth it. Lots of food and free alcohol, water, juice and coffee but tables with no chairs -just standing. We ended up sitting on the cold ground for a bit when we couldn't find an empty table, and then again when our legs got tired standing while waiting for the show to start. Also it was a pretty cold night - cold enough for me to go and buy a couple of those expensive $60 sweat shirts for the kids - yet the only hot beverage was coffee which obviously kids aren't going to drink. A sympathetic cast member was sweet enough to smuggle a packet of Hot coco mix and some hot water from the cast member breakroom for my son who was shivering amd looking for hot chocolate.
This was my first DP so I should have done more research before selecting EPCOT because the viewing spot was the same as I could have gotten anywhere around the lagoon for free.
A few days later we were in HS and I saw the DP set up there for the Star Wars fireworks and it looked WAAY better. And they had CHAIRS! Even the deserts were better than the EPCOT DP. The viewing spot was good too but just as with EPCOT, I got an even better spot for free...right on the wall directly in front of the Chinese Theatre with no one in front of us.
But I wished I had done that one instead just because of the chairs, better food, and Star Wars character interactions.
I tried to make an on-the spot rez for it on the app a couple hours before the fireworks started but of course it was booked.

I was at the first night of the ROL party. It was only announced about a week before it started. I kept it a secret from my daughter up until we were waiting in line and people kept coming up asking if that was what we were waiting for. This was my first ever dessert party and I didn't know what to expect. We actually really enjoyed it based on that. Since it was Aug in FL our appetite was not high so we hadn't ate dinner so it was a perfect indulgent way to skip dinner. Considering drinks in the park are 10 min if you have a couple drinks (hey, you are riding the bus!) it makes the cost sting a little less for the over 21 crowd. It doesn't look like it has changed much since the first one based on your video. Those cookies were so cute but the taste was boring. There were ice cream bars also. On the night we went they gave us some light up lantern cups to take home so that was fun. They also kept the offerings open during and after the show. We were allowed to take cake pops back with us and I had a beer while walking to the bus. Seeing the other party offerings makes me aware that we did miss out on some things but as a first time party goer I was happy.

Hey guys - love the videos, definitiely fills our Disney deficit in the UK. We're honeymooning in Disneyland Anaheim in November. Any tips for good eats while we're out there? We're hitting 4 parks in one year starting in a weekend in Paris this September then Cali and WDW followed by Tokyo early next year.
Keep up the astounding work - and AJ, if we're ever in the parks at the same time - cocktails are on us x

Andrew Parr there’s an awesome channel called wonderful world of foodies, which is all about Disneyland eats. If you want a very special and expensive meal, you have the Napa Rose. If you want a nice steakhouse, there is steakhouse 55. Most people hit up Blue Bayou because of the view (inside pirates) but I’ve never had a good dining experience there, but it really is beautiful inside.
I’ve never eaten at Carthay Circle, but I’ve heard overwhelming positive reviews. The eats are not as emphasized in Disneyland like they are in WDW, but the atmosphere is more special I think.
      Have an amazing trip!

We went to all of the dessert parties. The magic kingdom (plaza garden for projections) and star wars has the best food and spot. Unfortunately, we had to do the frozen in doors (wasn't even raining but had earlier) so no seating and no pretty decorations ( tables weren't lit up or anything and had to walk back and forth for party, viewing area and then ride) and much less food than others.
