I love this great man! I'm his size so he is an inspiration for all small dudes with huge hearts and strength! So cool to see a guy that small accomplish so much.
After Duk-Koo Kim he was never the same. That fight, one of the greatest ever. I was devastated to hear the news the next day. The Kim family has accepted Ray into there family, that's pretty cool.
He actually lost the fight before Camacho too, the rematch with bramble. But boom-boom is still one of the all time greats and my second favorite to rewatch only behind hagler.
@@Lord_of_Dol_Amroth he was not a bum, look with Zab Judah, Miky was a boxer who suffered a lot but did not go down he was resistant, he also knew how to bring mortal blows to the body!
I would like to see a duk koo Kim rematch. That was a good fight. I've tried finding his fights. I don't get why it's so hard to find any of them but a couple. Weird. Oh well
He really did. That was his first drag out brawl too. He would've known what he was in for the 2nd time around. I'd like to say he puts arguello away in the 13th. Obviously not for certain, but mancini was that good, before the kim fight tore him up emotionally.
@@LeftHookLegend That is really cool! I remember him when he was fighting. I seen him fight Bou Ali, Boza Edwards, Fletcher and Mancini. Tough guy but whoever was managing him did him no favors. They sent him to the wolves. I hope he is doing well. You should be very proud.
@@constantine7382 I am proud🙏🏾. Emile Griffith was bud trainer but neglected to train because he didn’t like his manager. He wouldn’t come to the gym if my fathers manager was there
Youngstown had the steel mills like Pittsburgh and like Pittsburgh, the mills shut down in the late 70s and early 80s. Youngstown produced 5 boxing champions, Mancini, Harry Arroyo, Greg Richardson, Kelly Pavlik, and Jeff Lampkin.
Many say he was never the same after the incident where his opponent tragically passed, tho Mancini was a true warrior and a classy gentleman… a true legend
One of the best yes, but also the one that changed boxing forever (either for better or worse). No more 15 rounds, and majority of fights since stopped early.

The last word in winging punches. Didn't have a lot of style or craft. Left hand a bit slappy at best. Got involved in the world scene before he got to his physical peak and paid the price for it. A good stiff jab would have put him in his place - good job nobody has one. Here at least...
Peter H (Super man) he almost beat Augerello at 20 yrs old! After his killed the Korean in the ring He got his head messed never the same fighter after!
@@michaeltabor9664 almost beat Arguello? No way he won 4 clean rounds before getting demolished. He was a true blood and guts dude and very fun to watch but I feel the media overrated him a bit. But not a bad fighter
Johns blog Boom Boom would take you out in the first ten seconds. He was a light weight but he hit like a Heavy Weight. I have a friend that Boxed and he never went pro but spared with The Boom and said he never got hit that hard and in head gear. He said no way would I get in the ring with Ray. Ray took them all out except one.
Biggest compliment I got was being compared to "Boom-Boom" after knocking out someone in the school yard.
This gentleman is truly a class act and a really nice guy. Happy Birthday Champ!
Ray Mancini was no joke, that guy came to bring it to anyone that stood in his way, packed dynamite in both hands 💯🔥💪🏾🥊
Hellz yeah!!!🤜🏿🤛🏿😎
I like the fight with Arguello

Tremendous action fighter
One of the greatest!! Still a class act to this day.
Ray’s style is remarkably similar to Marciano
ANIMALISTIC
Ray was better boxer than Rocky never the same gladiator after tragedy of Kim he did Italian Americans proud
More fluid but smaller weight

Definately a true blood and guts style warrior! don't make'em like that anymore!
Boom boom was fun to watch.
Relentless puncher.
The "rib craken power" of boom boom Mancini!🥊💪🇺🇲🇮🇹
A throwback fighter. Converted lefty. Came from good stock......his father, the original "Boom-Boom" was a really tough man.
We LOVED Boom Boom Mancini !! I remember that chant “ Boom boom out go the lights!! 😆
Ray was a true gentleman
Always good watch Boom Boom fighting - nice man outside the ring
Crazy to think he retired at 24, came back years later and only lost on a split decision to Hector Camacho
Not all people can carry on a career knowing you killed a man
That too by robbery

He retired first time 3 years after the Kim fight at 27 years old
Super excited you are coming to the AQUINAS MISSION BOUTS
Christ, his jabs look like lightning bolts.
I love this
I love this video and the song too.
Mancini left hook and head movements remind me Joe Frazier.
He was a champion, but I seem to remember him getting hit a LOT. Retirement might have saved him from some issues later.
He was an aggressive inside fighter, its inevitable
@@danny7456 No disagreement here. But he was also a decent, likeable guy and I am glad he chose the retirement path he did.

thanks dad for the memories of training with BOOm BOOM! at the ripe age of 12 Peace!
