This is worrying... If you haven't yet, check out the short animation _Fox Fires_ here on RUclips! I think you will like it, it's based on a Finnish folktale. In case you didn't know, _Spirit of the North_ is based in landscape on Iceland, hence the geysers and tundra.
New theory (I'm not sure): (Judging by the few paintings)maybe the spirit fox went to go defeat the valcanic ash but got corrupted? The spirit fox needed to stay there near the valcanic ash to keep it going (maybe the spirit fox was controlled at the time?) So those people Seri has been helping reunite, those might have been the people of the spirit fox whom must've got worried when they couldn't find the spirit fox? So they ventured all the way out there but died trying. I think at the end the spirit fox got controlled again by the corruption. Like I said at the beginning, I'm not sure.
I think that people stacked the stones to guide the spirit fox in hope of it saving them! That also explains why you know which way to go based on the stones.
This is my second time watching this playthrough and I just noticed that the stone slab on the wall has both the spirit fox and the spores. I think that was the biggest hint that there were two foxes, but something happened to one of them. EDIT: I also noticed that when Seri fox was holding the staff, the magic on the fox glowed through the muck. I bet the staffs access the flower energy and strengthen the Spirit Fox as well and that's why only the robed beans can be trapped/freed: the spores attack the fox magic because they're weak to it. EDIT: "For the first time, one of these people helped us." You forgot the very first one you found opened the cavern to the Spirit Fox-

Now I have to both get the energy AND solve the puzzle. All because i wanted to get bread at the store, UGH!" lol

Seri, you should give the fox a name so you don't have to keep referring to them as "the fox". And also name the spirit fox so you don't have to refer to them as "the spirit fox". From other people I've heard that "the fox" is male and "the spirit fox" is female but you could really make them whatever gender you like! - Female names: Arcadia Althea Artemis Athena Rune Ember Aurora Echo Citrus Sorceress Dahlia Azalea Gaia Persephone (since they bring life to the land by curing the corruption and the goddess brings plants/life to the land during spring) - Male names: Apollo Blaze Flame Zeus Hermes Soul Lost
( i really hope the spirit is okay...) also i have a theory on it the story... since through out the game there were only two animals that we've seen in the game, the fox we play as and the spirit. the spirit (in my opinion) is the ghost of a fox that was deemed to end the corruption, but died in the process. (the corruption was something thats been going on for a long time) and because of that many animals and humans passed away because of it, but the foxes survived they mainly hide through out the corruption, but a fox tried to save man kind and animals with the help of a group of people. by building things to help the fox, but sadly the fox passes away (from starvation or something) leaving the group of people to wait for the fox, passing away in the process. and so the spirit of the poor fox waited for another one to come and try to save what was left of the world. while waiting the spirit got corrupted, but kept waiting. then the fox we play as wanders around exploring finds the poor spirit and they go on together to try to save the remains of the world, through out this time the spirit gets more corrupted until... you know what happens. so now the red fox will try to help his spirit friend, then who knows what will happen... also i just realised that there already is a part 16 and 17 maybe more... but this was just a theory A GAME THEORY (sorry >:3 )

Am I the only one who is still bothered by the fact that Seri didn't activate the other stones and get rid of the corruption pimples (because they look like pimples) and OH NO the poor little Spirit orbe!
what if the spirit fox had a sister/brother and they went bad? the spirit fox leaves a trail behind it when it flys, correct? the sister/brother might have awoken from the mountain and decided it was its turn now and told the spirit fox it would take good care of its followers and it could rest? and the spirit believed it? then, might it have left the mountain and left its own trail as the spirit fox slept? or, what if it promised the people a better life in return for he spirit foxes place, and then never gave them what it promised? can you comment if you agree or disagree please i'v never actually had any of my comments been commented on by anyone
