Just watched...such a deep emotional film. I really like your honesty in how you explain your review. I don't even feel like it is a review, but more just what you thought about it, in a very intelligent and beautiful way. But off the cuff and genuine.
I am very glad I found your channel, it is a refreshing way for me to almost discuss the movie with you, if that makes sense.
    Thanks for your videos! 8)

I agree. I like they way she reviews. I don't see him as an alcoholic drug user. I saw that in another review and thought this person did not watch the same movie as I did.

This film completely caught me off guard. I did not know the director either and expected generic indie dramady 101. This shit broke my heart then rebuilt it. I've seen it 3 times now and I'd place it on my top 10 all time list. Beautiful, life affirming and incredibly memorable film

I thought it was just me, wanting to see it again. It's so sad, but the acting is so incredible to watch.

Thank you. This is maybe my favorite review I’ve seen you do yet. I love this film. Even though it’s sad I smile about it, when I think about it.

Manchester by the Sea is the best movie I've watched until now. It will always stay with me forever and I'll never recover from it.

Manchester By The Sea is one of the greatest films I've ever seen. I'll never get over it. It's also beautiful, realistic, and at times extremely funny. My heart gets broken every time.

I just watched this last night, I love slow burn but I really sure what I was getting myself into. But that ending scene, it was perfect, everything made sense after that. As someone who has been through grieving, I resonate a lot with both Lee and Patrick. Cassie Afflect turn in an outstanding performance, there were some real strong competition for best actors but ultimately he won and I’m glad, even though on a personal level I felt like his character is a lot like himself so he’s basically reaching inside to get the performance out. Nothing against his Oscar, well deserved.

I feel like if I was ten years younger I wouldn’t apppreciate or relate to the film as much.

I wouldn't say that Lee is an angry person, he's self destructive

You should watch and review Nocturnal Animals. It's easily one of the best films of the year. I'd say it's even better than Moonlight.

Margaret is the best American film of the decade so far for me. It's messier and more complicated than Manchester.

What hepled deliver this film is the classical music played through out the film. Manchester by the Sea has many layers. One has to pay closely attention to the character(s) action and the dialogue being discussed in each sequece in the film.

It kinda was exactly the things you said it was not... being super real to life with a real story does not always make a good movie...

I loathed this movie. Casey Affleck CANT act. He just CANNOT. His facial expression never changes the entire movie. Oh wait...was that just his taciturn character?! I’m a complete dimwit!

This movie was horrible with no plot. It's literally a looong documentary not a live action film lol. *Spoiler Alert: it has the worst ending scene ever, it left the theater speechless like WTF just happened?

    • @JakeG-gp4qt
      @JakeG-gp4qt 7 лет назад +8

It seems like you didn't get what this film was trying to do. It tried to depict life in a very real way. It's about tragedy, and overcoming obstacles. The ending was perfect because, like life, not everything will work out and be a happily ever after. You won't always have things wrapped in a little bow. This film showed that perfectly.
And also, movies don't need plots in order to be good. Boyhood is a phenomenal film. The best example of a phenomenal film not having a plot is Pulp Fiction. You can't really describe what Pulp Fiction is about, but it's a goddamn masterpiece.

Jake G 2187 hmm maybe it's just a self preference for me to, for a film have a plot with a climax and acts. Also to sit in a theater for so long is just way too long but again my opinion. I mean I got the point of the film and it has great acting, it's sad, but it feels more of a documentary as we are just following the main character during this time. I dunno maybe I'm not articulating it right.
