Check spark plug with test light. You cannot check the plug with a test light. Plugs have a gap in them and therefore no connection is made. The voltage, leaving the distributor to the spark plug is several thousands of volts. Here is what you can do. You can remove the copper strip from the distributor, going to a spark plug. Then place the strip near the terminal on the distributor. If you plug is firing you will see a blue spark jump between the copper strip and the distributor. You should set the gap then start the car. You can move the copper back and forth with the car running using an insulator. However, stay a long way away from this copper strip or you will get a large shock. Very nice video.
I do have a problem setting the timing this way.. the problem is that I do not know how to get the slack of the distributor shaft because I have an electronic ignition but still have the advance lever. So I can not see the positionering when the Points would open. How should I get the slack of then?
Does that mean that all Model As with the spark lever not operated correctly have bad babbitt? I guess it's a good thing that I have insert bearings in my rods at least.

Finally know how to time my car thanks

It's definitely a lot easier to change inserts than have it rebabbited.
Please let me know how can I connect the test light in a model Ford 1929 to check each spark plug... Thanks in advance!!!
Any chance that I could get a copy of the handout?
