lol.."Hottest day of the year"..and everyone has just about got their knees and elbows covered..If I still lived in the UK I wouldnt be chuckling to myself...I do miss the mister softees with a flake tho...ahh...been years.but I digress.. As always Luke, stellar review, you are one of my fave's out here on the interwebz. A true enthusiast reviewing for us enthusiastic but regular guys that only dream we could have a go on all the mo'sickles out there..keep up the good work!
Yes they do, my buddy's dad has one. Such an awesome bike. Pricing isn't too bad either, he picked his up for a bit under $19K (after taxes/fees) brand new. These things have serious potential too, his bike is now tuned to 200hp with just a racing exhaust.
For instance, the BMW 1000rr has been clocked at 198MPH bone stock with the ZX10r nipping at it's heels, RC8R only has 170-175 HP and tops out around 180-185 MPH with pipe. So if you want straight line look else where. If you follow the crowed and want what everyone else has and don't actually have skills, look else where. However if you have skills you will embarrass most riders with the RC8R because it out handles them all. Better to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow. ;-)
This is my dream bike for a weekend toy. Excellent review, clear and very little "emm"s. Good job Luke. Keep it up! About the exhaust, just imagine you'll be paying 2k extra which comes up to be the same price as the old model....win win!!!
@BarefootArizona Yes, it is sold in the US. Compared to the competition, it can be said that it is still overpriced, but the looks are unique makes this bike worth it.
After watching this video and testing the bike back to back with the Aprilia RSV4 Factory, I bought this, it's awesome and with a JCE exhaust system to replace the original sounds ace, only £650 too ! Yes it's rideable every day.. but with care and a huge grin : )
i would ride it EVERYDAY no matter how uncomfortable it may be..i like my bikes raw, just pure HP and torque! no ABS or other electronic safety crap..I WANT THE BIKE TO TELL ME "HEY YOUR RIDING ME", i like feeling the bike feedback
Great great GREAT review! But it's Marchesini wheels, not marcheNISI LOL. I test-ride one (RC8 2009 methinks, not R) a souple days ago, only thing I didn't like was the on-off response of the throttle, if you're saying they fixed that, then I want one! Urgh, I shouldn't have tested this...
This guy's fvcking hilarious and a brilliant presenter. If there's ever a Top Gear Bikes, or just a bike review programme, this bloke should present it. I've seen some of his videos before linked on autotrader didnt know he had a youtube channel.
3m40s, talking about fuel and RON i.e.octane levels sure Shell V-power is 99, Tesco's super is also 99 and don't BP do a super super fuel which is 102, but is nearly £3 a ltr, so we do stock more than 97 in the UK ;)
Depends on what you mean. If you are looking for top speed performance in a straight line, forget it the RC will get its tail pipe handed to it. However if you are looking for a bike that you can actually ride because you are a RIDER and want to get you knee down because you have actual skill, then the KTM can't be beat. It's a fun bike to ride and it's a perfect dance partner, track day tool that does what you want it to with out all of the nannies on board. Just you and the throttle, perfect
The only Euro bike I have ever straddled was a Ducatti 1199, not bad. My dream bike is the MV Agusta F4 though. I love the front end, so dirty. And I'm a huge fan of Honda, obviously lol.
good video, good explanation a lot of advantages with the bike but unfortunately no disadvantages, and that explains it for us bike lovers WE DO NOT WANT TO HEAR DISADVANTAGES ;-)
This thing has... 170+HP and it is the most adjustable motorcycle of its class. seat height, foot pegs, suspensions, clutch, front brake bar, rear brake peg ... I mean almost everything can be adjusted
To bad you have to get the RC8R Track (which isn´t street legal) to get the WP4618 shock.. WP is, and always will be WP. But the stock 4014 just doesn´t keep up with the 4618 of the Track-edish.
LOL I can't even be mad at that comment. It's one of those bikes that I'm sure if I looked at it more it would grow on me, but I don't want to take that chance HA HA.
What all do u exactly have done to ur rc8r to get 202 whp? I just bought 2012 model and my buddy has a 2012 1199 panigale and he says he'll crush my bike lol, looking to surprise him a bit
Even Ducati's finish is not close to KTM... Japanese bikes are great, reliable and awesome for the price but never close to a KTM... i just can't afford one right now... i'm into naked bikes though.. i like supersports on track only.. no point in having a supersport on the streets
Question. Does the billboard of a number plate effect top end performance? Wow that thing is HUGE! You could advertise porn on the that thing and make a bit o money, maybe enough to afford to buy this beast after the review is done!
202 whp with ECU mod and mapping is net warrior dreaming. WSBK racing ducati that Checa drives has around 200WHP +/- few HP. So please stop with that crap.
the most underrated bike ever!

I have to agree with this one... the looks, the quality, the spirit... Lamborghini of the bike world.
This is my dream bike for a weekend toy.
Excellent review, clear and very little "emm"s. Good job Luke. Keep it up!

WoW, amazing review!! Why havent I seen more of these guys???
@BarefootArizona Yes, it is sold in the US. Compared to the competition, it can be said that it is still overpriced, but the looks are unique makes this bike worth it.

Best bike ever. No electronic rider aid whatsoever. Just human controlling the machine. So sad KTM stopped making this bike
i would ride it EVERYDAY no matter how uncomfortable it may be..i like my bikes raw, just pure HP and torque! no ABS or other electronic safety crap..I WANT THE BIKE TO TELL ME "HEY YOUR RIDING ME", i like feeling the bike feedback
@rotorseven Exactly, very ride able everyday. I put 5200 miles in two months on mine.. I just love it.

best looking tail i have ever seen on a bike, hawt ass, and a hawt bike over all.
That a beast of a bike love the colour

Had scene about KTM in 2011 and now I own KTM 200 city naked bike.... This brand has kept up its customers
Very cool video and I love the look of that bike. I like your accent Mr Luke =P
Sounds like Matt Smith(latest Dr Who) to me for some reason.
Nice review. Shell V-Power is 99 RON.
It has rear seats... stock when you buy it. If you remove the seat, it would look like the same in the video
good video, good explanation a lot of advantages with the bike but unfortunately no disadvantages, and that explains it for us bike lovers WE DO NOT WANT TO HEAR DISADVANTAGES ;-)
@BarefootArizona
Of course! :)
KTMs have been around in the States for years and years.
Luke - we've gotta get you on Top Gear somehow as an occasional presenter!
This thing has... 170+HP and it is the most adjustable motorcycle of its class. seat height, foot pegs, suspensions, clutch, front brake bar, rear brake peg ... I mean almost everything can be adjusted
2000 pounds is expensive for an exhaust system, but its only about half of what the insurance would cost me here in Sweden..
the hottest day of the year in ENGLAND! that means not more than 15°C. ;)
yeah i know but on the australian KTM site it thas the specs
nice Brighton!
miss
Oh, and it felt easier on everyday use than my XB12R.

the real reason the rc8r is smoother than the rc8 is they put a heavier flywheel on it.
i just like his style!
The people have spoken!
damn you GB why do you ride in the wrong side of the road, damn you!
NICEEEEEEE I"m Ready to Trade all of my Toys for this baby lol the M3 the kawee 250f and the Banshee LOL , BIKE IS SEXY !!!
LOL I can't even be mad at that comment. It's one of those bikes that I'm sure if I looked at it more it would grow on me, but I don't want to take that chance HA HA.
then what would be a good day-to-day bike?
This bike sounds like a sowing machine.
anyone else think that guy on the bench behind the bike at 0:25 looks like Kevin from the US Office?
not sure how much is it in the us but that's dirty cheap if it's only $12000!
What if I wanna see the exhaust?
@pnevma382 So true bro! Not bad for 15k it must be said!
What all do u exactly have done to ur rc8r to get 202 whp? I just bought 2012 model and my buddy has a 2012 1199 panigale and he says he'll crush my bike lol, looking to surprise him a bit
My dad is gonna buy the black one
Lamborghini of the bike world? WTF was in that ice cream
thats the nicest bike
R6 AND R1 ARE THE PRETTIEST EVER
dats muh dream bike
"lamborghini of the bike world"
thanks
I find it looks very similar to >2006 R6 just my opinion anyway
This dude look like Jack O'Connell, Cook from Skins.
i saw one in california
Except for the torque, never any need to shift out of first gear ha ha.
How does this compare to a 1000 ? Say an.. R1 or something?
pause at 21 seconds, his forehead looks like one of those guys from star trek
Sick!
How much is this bike?
Exactly why I said IMO. I have my own taste.
Yes they do. But there are not arnt dealers.
Looks like it belongs to the RAC..
@pnevma382 Doesn't have to be a dream ... trade in yer old bike for a deposit on this and you could be riding it for about £300 a month :)
does this have the option of a rear seat. im going to pick up chicks with this and i would need a back seat
bad ass..
so much want...
Im not impressed-can't wait until a mate brings his out-with us on hayabusa's ;), to c what its got
I have one thing to say... EBR
no u don't your taste buds are completely GONE... go see a doctor.. i highly recommend it :D
Even Ducati's finish is not close to KTM... Japanese bikes are great, reliable and awesome for the price but never close to a KTM... i just can't afford one right now... i'm into naked bikes though.. i like supersports on track only.. no point in having a supersport on the streets
MARCHESINI, non Marcianesi...
lets try, something like "MARK I SEEN E"
Question.
Does the billboard of a number plate effect top end performance? Wow that thing is HUGE! You could advertise porn on the that thing and make a bit o money, maybe enough to afford to buy this beast after the review is done!
I stopped watching after 240p.
unchanged melody
Austrian not Australian
you wish... :) 10000 pounds = 16k
I actually know something about tuning RC8R bikes. Real racing bikes. And I can say... that is the most stupid comment ever.
Guys, not to give you any crap but I rather listen to the engine of it than to that lame music. Just my two cents.
202 whp with ECU mod and mapping is net warrior dreaming. WSBK racing ducati that Checa drives has around 200WHP +/- few HP. So please stop with that crap.
Umm whats a Marchinesi!!! lol credibility lost
a ktm? no thank you
u think it looks terrible? i've got news for you... you have no taste.
I think it looks terrible. IMO obviously.
