Yes, it was a duel against 62 men in total. However, it was recorded that during the third duel against the Yoshioka clan, Yoshioka Matashichiro, the Yoshioka swordsmen set up an ambush against Musashi as a group as Matashichiro, the head of clan, was too young at the time. (13 or 14 yo). Musashi knew this plan and ambushed them first, killing Matashichiro and some of the Yoshioka members, then successfully ran away. So he was surrounded by at least dozen of men at one point, in which he killed several of them then ran away to live another day. Musashi, however, regretted his action in this fight, as he killed the last remaining head of the clan.
