    There is a small mistake in the video, let me clarify that. The vent space given in the air starting valve is not used for venting the pilot air, it is given for a different purpose. If the piston rings of operating piston or balance piston is leaking then the leaked air will be vented through this port.
    The pilot air is always vented via the starting air distributor.

    I've a doubt in sulzer 2nd diagram that if the air is acting on above of operating piston then the valve must go down instead of being upside

    In sulzer rtr the air start valve get open by pneumatic control valve by taking air directly from manifold , right? so is their is no pilot valve distributor?

    How the piston will leak

  • @aswinkrishnaks5819
    @aswinkrishnaks5819 2 года назад +1

    you have explained that the pilot air wil be vented out through the vent after activation of cylinder by the leak in piston ring , then can u please explain why it is not going out while it is working ?

      @zyzzz6331 Год назад

      The vent is for air leak from operating piston and balance piston. Pilot air is vented by distributor

    i think pilot air is 7 bar thru a reducer. cause operating piston hve big space area force balance piston to open .

    • @MarineEngineeringHub
      @MarineEngineeringHub  3 года назад +3

      In older engine it used to be 7 bar but now it is 30 bar pressure in new Man b&w engine.

      He's copied the details wrong pilot valve is always 7 bar

      @MarineEngineeringHub what ? Air entering the cimbuspace us also 30 bar and pilot opening pressure is also 30 bar

    What is meant by positive closing?

    • @MarineEngineeringHub
      @MarineEngineeringHub  2 года назад

      Valve is opening against spring pressure if there is no air spring will help the valve to close...so this ensures valve doesn't get abruptly open and this is called positive closing
