is $25 a lot for a server at a restaurant? I take my family out for dinner and due to inflation it's anywhere from $80 to $100, the tip is $16 to $20, so making $25 an hour seems right? Do people really have a hard time doing that math?

Election denier? Like Hillary Clinton, Stacey Abrams and now Katie Porter? There are more Democrats that claim that the election was rigged against them and you and Maher say nothing. So it is OK if a Dem says an election is rigged but not a Republican, double standard much!
You do realize they did a survey and many Americans are on record stating they would have voted for Trump had they known about Hunter's laptop, right? But the FBI and the DOJ kept it under wraps along with the media. More than enough to change the election outcome. Call it what you wish in your twisted mind. I call that election manipulation.

That’s why mace is a congresswoman! Love both of your comments. I like this overtime. Calm and meaninful conversation without the yelling over each other! Congress used to behave this way and more was done. Our younger generation is beginning to believe this is the way a healthy government operates, and nothing is done
Why is it inappropriate to criticize Israel's policies because "they're their own country," but it's okay to blame Joe Biden for the fact that they're at war? Mace talked out of both sides of her mouth the whole show (like a true politician) with almost no pushback.
I agree with whomever said we give them money so; we have room to talk. BTW, it's Netanyahu who ignored the warnings of an attack. I've never liked this man, period. This is the same SOB, who went to congress and tried to sabotage the Iran Deal now, he's telling the US to F off and has the nerve to take our aid. The least the US can do is call out his horrible polices that lead to this war. The best is either yank his aid or put some strict conditions on it. Israel may be a friend to the US, but Netanyahu isn't. I think his past and present behavior proves it.
Mace is the only honest one. Once again, the US is meddling without understanding the problem. First, there is nothing deplorable about Netanyahu's policies, and to say so is slander. The only deplorable situation is how the far left have entrenched themselves in the courts and the army, so that those for security can never rise to power. BTW It was those leftist elites who ignored all the warnings, because of their mistaken concepts, and illegally did not notify the government of what was occurring.

@scottkessel952 should be. But that's not really debatable. There isn't a massive crowd of people pleading for this man's innocence. Apparently, without a single day in court, with only a meager amount of evidence, Sen Menedez is, in the court of public opinion, guilty as sin. But then bring up Trump, and all of a sudden, there's a nefarious plot from the Democrates to see this man is jail. Never mind the fact that 90% of the witnesses against him are Republicans. Never mind the fact that the very people are witnesses against him secretly recorded this man almost as if they knew he was committing a crime. Never mind the fact that there is overwhelming evidence against him. Why can’t Nancy Mace address the issue in the Supreme Court? She runs straight to talking about the easy target, Bob Menendez. No one called her on it. Eric Holder had just said other positions in government are held to higher standards. Why is it not even possible to make a general statement about Supreme Court ethics without naming names or political affiliations ?
Mace can't address the Supreme Court corruption issue because she is a politician first. (As such, she needs to stay on Trump's good side; and Trump approves of the court's far right/corrupt justices.)
She sold her soul to MAGA for political gain. She is a liar and a shill. Sadly, Ro just sat there and took it. He talked a good game about better messaging, then allows Mace to control the narrative. That said, why didn't Bill cover her BS idiotic ramblings about Hunter Biden on Fox?
Can be done at certain restaurants but definitely not the norm as she tried to suggest. Bill does the same weekly when talking about the economy being in a good state based on stock market and jobs numbers. Ignoring the fact that the vast majority don’t have sizable holdings in stocks nor do they have jobs that as Rep. Mace suggested are easily available for $25 per hr. They both think their bubbles views are representative of the state of the majority of citizens Bill’s advice to us was “ CHEER THE FUCK UP ! “. Our advice to Bill is “ SHUT THE FUCK UP “ we don’t enjoy your life of privilege and financial security. $25 a hour at a restaurant? And a teenager is making that? BULLSHIT! I’ve been working at a restaurant since I was 19 years old and it is my second job to this day and $25 an hour is not what you make at a restaurant. Either she’s lying or her son is being paid under the table.
Mace doesn't think the government should legislate workplace issues? So she's against the minimum wage, the 40 hour week, vacation and sick time, occupational safety, and all the other things that help workers.
32 hour week works in France, has been trialled in Germany, UK, and Australia with an overwhelming result of NO loss of productivity. Over 75% in the trials stating they are going to stick with the program. It works, and only conservative and the wealthy will oppose, quoting freedom of choice, as they want to keep the working class on minimum wage. If you have a spare 8 hours in the week you might take on extra work to raise yourself out of the mire, and that is something they definitely don't want.
Well with all the comments here against maze. I think bill got the point out that she's a liar by letting her talk. Sometimes is better to just let the liar show you who they are by themselves. George Carlin once stated that corporations own the government. This implies that in order for society to invest in human capital, which is necessary to prevent people from falling into a life of crime, corporations would have to influence the government that they own. The government should be incentivized to provide training, education, and a better environment for communities. However, corporations do not prioritize communities, and therefore, the government doesn't either. They only do enough to meet their minimum obligations, and as a result, the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Violence is used as a distraction because corporations want people to focus on that instead of the fact that they are the root of the problem that has afflicted our human society.
George Carlin “But there’s a reason. There’s a reason. There’s a reason for this, there’s a reason education sucks, and it’s the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed. It’s never gonna get any better. Don’t look for it. Be happy with what you got. Because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now, the real owners, the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I'll tell you what they don’t want: They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. Thats against their interests. Thats right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table to figure out how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago. They don’t want that. You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you, sooner or later, 'cause they own this fucking place. It's a big club, and you ain’t in it. You and I are not in the big club. And by the way, it's the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head in their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table is tilted folks. The game is rigged, and nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care. Good honest hard-working people -- white collar, blue collar, it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on -- good honest hard-working people continue -- these are people of modest means -- continue to elect these rich cocksuckers who don’t give a fuck about them. They don’t give a fuck about you. They don’t give a fuck about you. They don't care about you at all -- at all -- at all. And nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care. Because the owners of this country know the truth: it's called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.” ― George Carlin

I can see the argument against abortion in a lot of cases, but not all. There needs to be legal early abortion and exemptions made for special circumstances.

George Carlin
“But there’s a reason. That's what the owners count on; the fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that's being jammed up their assholes everyday. Because the owners of this country know the truth: it's called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.”

I can see the argument against abortion in a lot of cases, but not all. There needs to be legal early abortion and exemptions made for special circumstances. The issue is rural areas can't support jobs with high wages. A lot of people work for small businesses. The amount of business even at the fast food chains is quite a bit lower than in the cities. It's ok man. Don't do anything drastic. A lot of people waste their lives. I couldn't imagine never making 25 an hour in 37 years but good on you for getting out of bed everyday.
Facts.
No shit, that’s cuz you chose to work in social services. That’s on you. Nobody forced you to stay at that job. I used to serve tables and made good money but wanted out so I learned how to build websites and have been self-employed for over a decade killing it.
I was paid like $6.50/ hr back in the 90s
@@brainchildguru You're not too slick. Her son doesn't make 25 an hour and if he does it's because someone's kissing his ass. He's in High School. Man, that Olive Garden pays good huh?
Most office dwellers don't really work 40h a week anyway, they're just expected to pretend to. At least 20-25% is wasted on boring meetings, team-building events, needless paperwork that nobody reads, casual watercooler chit-chat and other hollow corporate rituals. You can cut 8h of work from my job and there would be no impact to productivity. In fact, we might be even more efficient, since we'd be less burnt out from all the nonsense.
WTF in THIS universe would Nancy Mace know about truth?????
Indeed. I mean the first sentence she said on this episode was a barrage of lies and nobody challenged her on that.
That’s pretty rich coming from her.
Yeah you're right. Let's just blindly applaud the guy from California. Clearly they're doing everything right.
Her son makes 25 dollars an hour? And still in high school? That alone I find hard to believe.
That is the most, shall we say, unique non argument against minimum wage I've heard so far. Right next to _'if it doesn't pay enough, just get a higher paying job'._
And then republicans want to complain about companies that can't get workers to work while failing to admit people don't want or "have" to work for a company that's paying un-liveabe wages.
If the only jobs you qualify for max out at $15/hr then congrats, you've maxed out your skills. A job that literally anyone can do after a week of training deserves what it pays. If I was working alongside someone with Down Syndrome doing the exact same work, I'd probably think long and hard about the amount of skill that my job clearly doesn't require. Want more? Then do more. Get a degree. A REAL degree. STEM, Business, Accounting, etc. Not that art history and gender studies bullshit that guarantees underemployment upon graduating. Or better yet spend considerably less time and money than that by learning a trade and be an electrician, plumber, or utility technician. Bottom line: no one owes you anything just because you want it or think you deserve it, you have to PROVE IT.
Get better skills

You don't think that would make the segment too big? Overtime segments have to be the right size.
This show was preceded by a full hour of Real Time with Bill Maher. But yeah, I agree, this segment was outstanding! I suspect you can find the episode somewhere on RUclips (if you don'/t have HBO)
This segment seemed to end too quicky & was actually better than the one-hour show was!

many trails of 32 hr work week show workers are happier and more productive - I've been thinking workless wednesday would really help those with physically or mentally demanding jobs protect themselves and their body from burnout and extend their working lives
@@rossgeography I can agree with that. The options given to me were 48 hrs over 4 days or 50 hrs over 5 days. Just coming in the extra day makes it much more than simply two extra hours.
If I were able to work 32 hours and maintain my modest way of living. I'd be all for it.
The best jobs I've had were 4 days a week 10 hours a day with ample opportunities for overtime. 32 hours a week with 40 hours pay makes no sense. And 3-day weekends are awesome.
That's crazy! 12 hour shifts are too long, it burns people out. And what happens is, that 3-day break usually consists of the first day off being used to catch up on lost sleep! Hey. In most of EU. There's a 35 hour week. 3 to 4 weeks vacations. They are for the most part happy and the Euro is always valued higher than the Dollar. By the way waiters, bartenders, most service employees have stayed at their jobs for decades because they make a living wage, like 50k plus a year. They pay taxes just like us and even higher in some cases but they get the services for their tax money. Great transportation, wonderful foods not full of chemicals and it doesn't cost that much etc... You can say all you want about this but facts are facts. We can do the same without all the lobbyists involved.
hey! stop confusing murricans with your inconvinient facts!
While I agree with most of what you said, there are some corrections here: Euro isn't always valued higher than the dollar. It should be since you are pulling money from multiple countries that have the economies of our largest states. Service employees do not get tipped (which is fine), but Americans could be making more. Probably the biggest correction is your food costs. Your food is more expensive than the US. Period. I have seen this with my own eyes. If you want to say "because its better, etc", that is certainly possible, but quite alot of things are more expensive in Europe.
Nancy Mace, your kid isn't every kid ! If you also think the government should stay away from your paycheck, then they should also stay out of your bedroom
