    I was surprise that it was responsive when I tried to keep up w/ my faster friends. Might used for long runs with a few marathon pace portion. Was also thinking of purchasing the Kayano 30 for my long runs but as you said its hard to increase the pace on that shoe. Maybe the Kayano 30 can work as a recovery shoe instead or I'll get the 29 for more flexibility.

    Great review! I have found the Glycerin 20 GTS a great shoe as well. Wanted ask if ever use orthotics in your shoes? I have had multiple foot issues and wondered fi you have had any luck w/ insoles. Thanks!!

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  Год назад +1

      Hey Tim! Thanks!....I actually used to wear orthotics back in high school and college, and tried them again about 3 1/2 years ago. For me, they actually made things worse! Same thing with after-market insoles! I walk barefoot all the time at home, and over the years my feet and arches have strengthened vs my younger days, however I feel the biggest reason I no longer use them is that today's stability shoes are so much better than in the past. The science is now moving away from severe motion-control as some pronation is necessary (natures shock absorber) to more gentle support. As for the insoles themselves, I find the included insoles have more than enough arch support for me in todays shoes. As you can see from my reviews, I can even wear some inherently stable neutral shoes these days, especially for racing!...As I'm not a Podiatrist, however, I would not suggest ignoring their advice, but would definitely challenge them if they pushed orthotics on me. Just my opinion.

      Hey @Crusty_Otter!....Thanks for the comment! As for your question, the outsole hasn't separated at all. I use the Shoe Goo to build up the worn areas of the outsole to gain extra life. The outsole and midsole is holding up well after 300 miles 👍

      I had no idea Shoe Goo could be used that way, that's handy to know. Can't wait to try these out when they come in, my last real running shoes were all leather Reeboks. Loved the light weight, plush cushion and the durability of the leather uppers. I haven't seen any all leather runners since that pair - close to 20 years ago. I'm still really curious about the Altra Paradigm 6 (?) and the Hoka Speed Goat 5 (?). Maybe when it's time to replace my current pairs.

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  Год назад +2

      Hi Yuvaraj! Thanks for checking out the video!...I wouldn't recommend playing tennis in a pair of running shoes as they are not designed for the lateral stresses that tennis shoes are and that tennis creates. The GTS 20 is nowhere near stable enough for tennis in my opinion. Another point would be that tennis shoes have soles designed specifically for that sport.

    I study voice acting and one thing I can tell you is that you have a nice timbre, which is already light and high enough in terms of pitch to keep your audience engaged. Just be careful not to overdo it with the high-pitched voice, because then you go full on cartoon style (see the segment when you say "shoe goo").
    P.S. the shoes are great :D

    Would you say this is your preferred choice over the ASICS kayano 30 as a long run and or easy run shoe ? I have the tempus and ASICS superblast but want a really comfy shoe for long slow runs or recovery runs and I'm torn between the glycerine GTS. .. the Kayano 30 and the nimbus 25 and yes I know that isn't classed in the stability category .... And thoughts on those choices ? By the way I'm 175cm tall and weigh about 85kg

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for checking in!....I would say the GTS 20 is my preferred choice over the Gel-Kayano 30. The primary reason for me is the comfort of the upper. I have struggled with hot spots in the Gel-Kayano while never having similar problems with the GTS 20. Both shoes are great for long and easy runs as far as cushioning is concerned....As far as the Nimbus 25, I can't say as I've never tried them....I just purchased the Glycerin GTS 21, and will be doing a video review of it and also a comparison between it, the New Balance Vongo V6, and the Gel-Kayano 30.

      @oldmanvanrunning  Год назад +1

      Thanks for checking out my video!...I can't speak specifically to shin splints, but either shoe would work for a moderate arch. Of the two, the Arahi 6 has a more pronounced rocker and is less cushioned than the GTS 20 .

    Great review, how does this shoe compare to the tempus?

    • @oldmanvanrunning

      Thanks for the comment!....This shoe is heavier, less responsive, but more cushioned than the Tempus. I currently have both in my rotation, and use this shoe as my primary long run shoe while using the Tempus for up-tempo runs of all distances. The other difference is that the GTS 20 has a 10mm heel to toe drop whereas the Tempus is 8mm. Overall, the Tempus is the more versatile of the two shoes.

    I went to a running store and the staff recommended this Glycerin 20s. I liked the way it fit compared to the other shoes I tried on. I have some pronation nothing too extreme. A little more in one foot than the other. They recommended this shoe with the Spenco total support max inserts. What are your thoughts on Inserts? Back story I am not much of a runner. In my prime, I did two 3-mile runs a week. I was able for 3 months to run 7 miles once a week which is the highlight of my running career. I did all of this without an insert or knowing much about my arch and pronation. So this time around I decided to do more research before getting back into running. What are your thoughts?

      I think the Glycerin GTS 20 is perfect without an aftermarket insert. I find that it's often a sales tactic to get folks to buy something additional. For me, the only time I would consider another insole would be under the guidance of a Podiatrist. Shoe salespersons are not qualified to diagnose and prescribe. Just my two cents.

      @@oldmanvanrunning thanks for the advice! Not sure about if I have over pronation, but the outside of my shoe wears out faster. Will try them in store.

    Glycerine 20 vs GTS 20 which is better?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  8 месяцев назад

      Only difference is the guiderails in the GTS which adds stability. If you are a stability runner, the GTS is the better choice.

    Le glycerin 19 gts molto meglio delle 20 per la mia esperienza. La tomaia ha ceduto sull'aluce.
    E' stata la prima volta che le brooks mi hanno deluso ed ho dato prevalenza alle Saucony Guide 15 e Tempus.

      He said he preferred the 19 GTS to the 20, that the front wore out, and that he is going to try the Guide 15 and Tempus. And I agree, the 19 felt a bit harder in the beginning but were very comfortable for me in the long run, while my 20 are causing me blisters and I have to wear band-aids. I'm also going to try the Guide 15, as they are half the price of the Brooks (those get almost no discounts in my country).

      @MaQy That illustrates how a shoe that works great for one may not work for another. In the end, each of us needs to find what works for our unique physiology. Hopefully, my experience with a shoe will be beneficial to more people than not....The Guide 15 is a great shoe! 👍 It is on the firmer side, but I have really enjoyed it. Let me know what you think....Thanks for the translation.
