I moved to Hawaii in 1993 because the Queens Medical Center brought me here to work in the Dept of Radiation Oncology and I never expected to fall in love with Hawaii the way I have. I do not speak/understand the Hawaiian language but being someone that speaks 4 languages, when I hear Hawaiian Music I feel the power and the energy behind it. These Project KULEANA are amazing and they go beyond of the beauty of the Hawaiian Culture and the Hawaiian language. I plan to study Hawaiian. I already have taken courses at UH on Hawaiian culture and find them amazing. We are lucky to live in Hawaii for sure. On July 3, 2023, it will be 30 yrs that I came to these amazing islands, the Islands of Aloha
It is beautiful whenever I hear when a mālihini becomes a kamaʻāina because they love it here. You are just the kind of transplants we love/want. And it is so fitting that you are employed at the Queens Medical Center! If you are here on Oahu, go to Hānaiakamalamalama (Queen Emmaʻs Summer Palace) if you havenʻt already. Kanaʻiaupuni was another name for King Kamehameha I, who Queen Emma was a relative. Kanaʻiaupuni is also my middle name. 😛
Im a Native Hawaiian born&raised, applying for residency this year with aspiration of working in your department in 2 years (Queen’s Rad Onc). I know a few of the medphysicists in your dept; can i connect with you? (Hiki ke kama’ilio ma ka ‘olelo Hawaii, ina makemake ‘oe)
Glad you can afford to live there. Unlike many born and raised there. Unable to afgord a home and live on the beach part time in bewteen jobs. Hawaii is the biggest welfare state kin the Unionnext to, California. Many, Many locals born and raised cannot afford a half million dollar 3 bedroom home. And if you want to get a four bedroom expect to pay close to a million or more depending on the location. Then the outrages property Taxes. Then the outrages utlity's along with the overpriced water services. So many homeless on the beach. Sick of it.

Since 1989, the first and only time I visited Hawai´i and saw, heard and smelt - felt in my heart it´s spirit, I was always wishing to come back, but it never was possible; Songs like this brings me back with my soul and led tremble my heart.........Mahalo nui !!!!
I watched all the Project Kuleana videos and must say that this one is my favorite. Wonderful work that they all put in, from performing to editing and making it appear as if they are all at the same place and time. Also, I accidentally ran across the project just a couple of days ago and can't stop playing it. A few weeks ago I lost a family member, which has hit me really hard. I lost sleep and appetite, while grieving. This music is the very first that was able to bring me back sunshine and hope; to cheer me up and actually lift me up from some rather dark times. For that, I thank you and will always cherish and respect Hawaiian music and culture in general. Mahalo!

This song and lyrics can’t get out of my head, I’ve led the song when I was in the Kamehameha program in Kona and can never forget this song. I would randomly start singing it when I pronounce Hawaii as Hawai’i if you know what I mean😂❤
That opening shot of Poka'i Bay always gets to me. Spent 36 growing up in Makaha, Maili, and Nanakuli. Took my kids for swim there all the time. We just moved out of Hawaii two years ago cause was too expensive to raise six kids. But the ohana is going back to visit this summer. I'm sure they'll love playing in the sand again =) Thanks for this video, I watch it several times a week to keep me in touch with Hawai'i.
Mahalo for the music and the video pictures. I have relatives left on the islands after I married one of them. Always get touched when listening to all the music of hawaii.
Mahalo nui! Been waiting for another song to come out from ProjectKuleana. My coworker just showed this one to me. I've been playing the first two songs forever. Mahalo for sharing your amazing talents with the world. I can always feel this burning in my naʻau when I listen to these collaborations. Keep up the great work!
