I just got into MTG recently since I am on break from school and this series literally helped me so much with learning the game and how to play decks. This was the deck that I had the most fun and did the best with instead of the top decks like arcane aggression and duel armory so it was nice to be able to go up against the top decks and fry my brain trying to control and outsmart them. Thank you so much for the videos as you came up when I tried to search for MTG tutorials and you're really helpful to learn the game while having fun so I look forward to more content from you man.
Again, thank you for the awesome content. Just another comment about the Bonecobbler that you mentioned around 5:28 . It makes a creature from the graveyard into a non creature artifact retaining benefits. It is actually quite good as starter decks don't cater a lot for non creature artifact removal and you can create a few different artifacts as you are constantly milling. If this is done for Vohar, ->tap it draw card, discard card and opponent loses life. Academy Wall -> Draw a card when you cast a spell . Rona -> cast instant or sorcery and opponent loses a life. In fact you could have Rona out on the board as a creature and the other Rona out as the artifact at the same time as the artifact loses legendary status 😀Rusko will make another clock as well. As you are constantly milling, chances are high that one of these will be in the graveyard.
@@coffeestout I haven't played Arena long and am not very experienced, I really enjoy your content and learn a lot from you. I am only free to play as well and play a lot with the Starter Decks. I would eventually like to have enough coins to really start building my card library when the next Standard set comes out as I am not interested in collecting Alchemy cards, but am forced to use and understand them in the Starter Decks. I didn't understand the potential of the Bonecobbler until I tried it on Rona. Have you ever considered making an Artisan deck combining different cards from all the Starter Decks that have existed, as everyone has access to these cards and no need to craft 🤔
Man, thank you so much! 😊 This video meant a lot, at some point my opponent was at 26 lives, I was at eight. I was able to endure and I got myself to 5 and them to 0. First winning in full control mode, I felt super powerful! 🎉
I got really hyped up for this deck while watching this video, but then I tried it for myself and kept getting destroyed I know this deck isn't beginner friendly but I love how it works. I'm still trying to get better with it but it's tough
Haha I new it was a "figure out" kind of situation. I'd really love both an alchemy and standard upgrade for this deck tbh. (I realize that rusko can't make the standard version) I've definitely been having fun with this deck too. Great video! Cheers my friend!
@coffeestout yeah 100%! I love decks with shenanigans, but unfortunately, I am a bit of a budget player, so I am definitely spending time training on the reward/free decks! I do notice, though, that this can be a challenge to get rolling against a deck with pace if they get a good hand. However, if you get a slight mana lead, you completely control every aspect of the game lol
This deck was a lot of fun actually. In a beginner vs beginner match-up, I'm pretty sure a lot of goofy stuff happened as I had 3 clocks on my field at some point lol. It's also even funnier that none of these cards don't really have a hard once per turn limitation on them, doesn't that cause big problems? Cause I played some YuGiOh recently and cards with no such limitation were a little bit handful I should say lol. Thanks once again for the video, helped greatly!
As a person who just downloaded arena a few days ago i have got to say that specific deck is the most trash of the options available in the starter deck event
I like it... its a lot different than the other ones. All of the attackers are garbage and the rares are bad, though, lol. I like the interactions though, lol.
Mostly a tempo move to make him burn a card without him getting the chance to kill it. He was way behind on cards, and I wanted to put I'm further behind on cards.
Amazing videos. Instant subscriber. You're a smaller channel but your microphone is so much crisper and clearer than a lot of channels that I've watched with roughly the same amount of subs. Adds to how thoroughly entertaining your commentary is.
Amazing content!, also i am new to magic Arena, and i find it very usefull to have the big picture of those decks. One question, around 16:32, you cast Gix command but i don't fully understand that card. I should expect that both creatures die.. but instead only dies the opponent one and your's got the +1/+1 counter. Why!? Thanks anyway, and I expect more!
There are four options on the card and you choose two. Usually people use it as a board wipe, but it could be used to get cards out of your graveyard or to pump a creature as well.
Yes but the text of the option selected says: "each opponent sacrifice a creature with the highest power among creatures they control", and then also put the counter on your creature. Therefore I expected that both creatures die (and of course no apply of the counter), but your creature stay alive and with the counter applied. Could you explain that? Thanks!
at 31:40, why don't you block the attack? Also wanted to say: thanks a lot for your content, I tried to learn to play using Reddit, but everyone seems to say to not even bother with starter decks. However, this series of videos demonstrates their potential, and discover so many mechanics!
It just added insult to injury to him, lol. I had too much health to die, so he couldn't kill me and I thought it was funny to just take the damage. As if I didn't care, lol. Besides that, he could have a burn spell which makes it a bad block... especially with the life totals here. Sometimes it is better to just take damage. And thanks for the encouragement!
@@coffeestout super interesting, thanks! I managed to get a few victories with this deck, thanks to your video. None against white-red though, I'm always overwhelmed before I can do anything. I'm wondering if it's even possible to win in this matchup
The correct way to play this deck is once you get breach the multiverse, play it and return either meldweb or the skaab card to the battlefield which allows you to return breach the multiverse to the top of your library. Repeat the process until your opponent is milled out and you will always have at least one card in your library.
This is the weakest deck among the starters actually. If you don't have at least 4 very good cards, you are overwhelmed by your opponent and can't recover from the damage you receive at the first 3-4 turns.
The funniest deck. Some games you lose and whatever, while other games are completely controlled by you and thats where the most fun comes in
I’m new to Magic Arena and have just started dabbling in duel decks. Your video has been super helpful. Looking forward to seeing more. Cheers.
Cheers! And welcome!!
I agree I just started playing yesterday and these videos have taught me a lot
Thank you so much for making this video, he's fantastic for newbies like me! Prayer.

Welcome! Glad to hear it!!

I love this deck, lol. It does take some finesse, though. If ypu wanna learn to play control type decks, mastering this is a good place to start.
Maybe, however, I am biased, lol.

There can be, but having tp pay mana slows decks down a lot. That is why infinite mana is so powerful.

Why arent the starter decks adding to my library when i win with one? so odd.
It's a bug... apparently, they are working on it, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
@@coffeestout Ah ok. they will probably have it all sorted by the time Wilds of Eldraine releases.

@@coffeestout Yeah that def shows through!
I’m actually winning quite often with this deck. Though I am still waiting to actually decrease an opponents life total to 0 before they concede 😂
😂😂😂😂

@@Tartiflat3000 It is possible, but that is a very good deck for the Starter Deck Dual area of arena, though... really hard to win against, lol.
The attacker also had menace, no? So you couldnt Block with only your wall
The best starter
Reezug is epic in here...get all the abilities like ruskos minus the creature issues
True... I've recently used him a bit more in the F2P account. Still not my favorite, because creatures dying isn't really an issue with this deck.
Grave Matters Rusko upgrade alchemy 🙏
Definitely in the works!! Gotta finish the series first, but make sure to thumbs up to make sure I know that folks want this.

It's astonishingly bad even when it's used correctly.

Probably more playstyle oriented.
