Seems like End Game armies are now the perfect enemies to test out stacks.
Well in W2 the biggest armies you could guarantee would exist at some point was the chaos invasion, but it was a pretty bad test with its rangeless, slow roster. Now that there’s a good variety of endgame armies with various rosters we can test armies much more effectively
Latest update now lets us enable ALL the endgame armies at the same time lol.
Always has been
@@WuW0w0-m8m I don't mean just having the chance of any endgame. But having all of the endgames happen at the same time together.
Only enemies to test out stacks* I have yet to he challenged by more then two armies at a time with any faction not part of an end game crisis in very hard/very hard. Npc aggression in wh3 is a joke. Dont get me wrong though I have been loving the IE campaign just less of a thunderdome then wh2 was. Npc is far more defensive and squirrely untill you actually get into battle with them.
"Everything but cairn wraith has physical attacks"
*proceeds to highlight grave guard which has magical attacks*
To be fair, their attack stat is so low they have NO chance to damage Archaon. And with regen ( not to mention possibly even barrier ) they barely hit him, let alone damage him.
@@drazarkabalblade9486 The minimum hit chance is 8% though so you are constantly getting hit even by garbage.
@@drazarkabalblade9486 I don't disagree, just thought it was funny
dwarf hammerers now deal magic damage as well
@@ruukinen 8% damage essentially, and multiplying that with his 67% ward save yields a 98% total decrease for AP damage. His armour would make the resistance to base damage 90%, for a total of 99.2% decrease to base damage. Combined with regen he is essentially immortal to grave guard, magic damage or not.
Edit: especially considering their low AP. A unit of Grave Guard (great weapons) with magic attacks would at least get a lot of that 2% damage rather than 0.8% damage. Physical attacks would be 0.8% damage across the board.
Funny how at 5:36 he tried to direct the first Vortex spell by dragging it forward, even though it doesn't work in WH3 anymore. Leftover muscle memory from WH2
...wait, you could direct vortex spells in WH2 !?
@@Zigzf yeah, ‘dragging’ a vortex spell a certain direction after casting it would set it in that direct at first before eventually going another direction
@@Neockoen this would have saved alot of friendly fire smh
@@kp-legacy-5477 I once genuenly lost my entire fucking frontline to a rogue vortex spell
@@kp-legacy-5477 It wasn't that useful, since the vortex can instantly change it's direction after the initial one if it felt like it.
Archaon defending the world from the end game crisis. How the tables turn.
I think it's because he decided that he doesn't want them taking his kills, so he will destroy the endgame crisis to become the true endgame crisis.
more like end game crisis trying to save the world
Archaeon be like: "GET OFF MY WORLD, SPAYSH MAHRIN"
Archaon, the World Guardian
That's his lore. He's the champion of chaos so he can destroy the world and deny chaos souls to consume.
I think the AI blobbing up on single Lord armies when they didn't before
Is because before, they'd be running around, looking for hidden units that aren't there
So they fixed the AI to know how many units are in the army, and not hunt for ones that dont exist. Which results in their only target being to hunt down the single Lord, and the AI doesn't realize that it should spread out to avoid AOE so just mobs all of them into the lord at once
In warhammer 2, eye of sheerian granted like +25% ward save or something. Unfortunately, CA not only removed both banner of Tzeentch and eye's wardsave, but also deleted Kholek's unique skill with 15% or 17% wardsave
The loss of Kholek's wardsave skill was completely unjustified, given that CA already nerfed all the generic wardsave items.
Can't have fun, you must play as we dictates you. CA, probably
CA being very anti-fun... for no reason...
It's a justified decision, given that many players were complaining about lords and heroes being far more important than army choices and strategy. Lords are still plenty powerful, in keeping with Warhammer's theme, but it's now more difficult to make them the literally immortal armykillers that they were.
@@Vic21932 Your argument is many people complained about how powerful lords and hereos are. Many people complain now that CA nerfed said lords and heroes. According to your logic, CA should reverse these nerfs.
im a real noob at wh3, i only have about 40 hours and its really hard for me since im not a usual strategy game player, but its fun and your videos are great to learn
This is the place to be to get better!
Lol I had 8k hours in warhammer 2 and I'm still learning, the game is massive.
Try using the pause and slow down velocities during battles in the upper right corner, it makes everything more bearable if you are not used
now now, its fine. My first one is the shogun2, i tot it will be a build game strategy like C&C series so i was like 30+hrs only and eventually understands and loved it
currently 190+hrs on WH3
Great series to learn on this channel is 'Saving your disaster campaign', where he loads his viewers' messy campaigns and fixes them. It mostly covers Wahrammer 2, but I'm sure there's a lot of stuff that's still valid in Warhammer 3. Clan Angrund and Orion in America are my two personal favourite disasters he saved.
I dont really care about "perfected" with one man doomstacks, i just like to see what is possible and i would rate a strong non perfected one-man doomstack even higher, just from a point of practicality. For example the Catahy LLs are easy one man doomstacks, they just need a bit of regen and they are strong enough to fight most weaker armies on their own. Since this is possible to reach in the early game, i would rate this way higher than a LL that needs to collect every single defeat trait just to work.
So my System would be: Bonus Points for practicality and early availibilty. Minus points for Sword of Khaine and "depending on perfection" i.e. collecting traits etc.
Well said. I hardly find it creative or a "discovery" when someone submits one of these one-man doomstacks and it's just [insert legendary lord] with the Sword of Khaine and a pile of defeat traits.
Only thing missing for this to be a one man doomstack is the Archaon Upside Down Face mod by Okoii (although that's for WH2).
Agreed on being annoyed by CA removing the regen cap tooltip info. Really makes zero sense why that was removed... what possible balance/gameplay/UI reasons could they have for removing it? Kinda seems like info a player needs to know...
When they released Festus, it was probably bugged
It’s more than likely a bug that needs to be fixed. Take your tinfoil hat off
My only guess is them having redone the UI and just kinda never added it back due to time-constraints and it being low priority/something. Very dumb though...
@@Kimbie cough* beta cough*
@@Kimbie This is definitely not the only issue, look at how healing isn’t taken into account in multiplayer scores, and just going by how they changed healing cap for this build I assume, I could imagine a couple of issues
"The Evercheesen" was a missed opportunity, Legend.
I think there should be a moratorium on using the Sword of Khaine to determine one-man doomstacks. It should be about the viability of a legendary lord with their own equipment, plus any regular items and traits they could reasonably pick-up on the campaign map, and how viable they would be as a one-man doomstack early(ish) in a campaign. Not just a rinse and repeat of insert-level-50-lord, 10 lord defeat traits, plus Sword of Khaine.
I love how Legend is complaining all the time about CA removing some of his favorite cheeses (entrepreneur, knowledgeable etc)
Can confirm that you can get regeneration during the crisis once Isabella commands an army.
All those grave guard have magic attack... Don't think demons would be a problem... Except for maybe a Bloodthirster doomstack or something like that.
I love how Legend is ranting about how it would probably be harder to fight an army with magic damage - while literally most he is facing has magic damage. I guess he forgot grave guard do magic damage now.
I think a 10/10 should be reserved for One-Man Doomstacks with close to no downsides
Meaning it can beat all armies (weather flying, missile, physical attack or magical attack heavy) and has no negative impact on the campaign side of things.
That way a sword of khaine can never be 10/10 only 9-9.5/10.
Even in this campaign the public order buildings where necessary in some provinces, just because of the sword...
To be fair, there aren't any other buildings that you need. You get the 3 from economy + 3 advanced military to boost income. You can also get the one that increases capacity for exalted heroes
@@nicolaeoboroc9076 good point especially when money is not really a problem ...
I'm happy they changed the AI to blob up though, kinda makes you feel like they're all trying to get you, while in 2 it felt like they were just lining up or you had to chase them down, it was such a drag, this is a lot more fun.
The fact that he didn't farm defeat traits means that it's one of the easiest one-man doomstack to make.
Defeat traits have been nerfed across the board haven't they?
I was proud of myself yesterday, managed to repel a full saurian army with only a lvl 10 morathi, guard of the blood queen and a tier 1 settlement guard. Morathi is a beast
Yeah in my opinion she is one of the best LL in the Game. She has it all cant lose a Battle with her when she is at Level 40+
Did she scucc all the lizards off?
wh2 or 3?
@@finn-3976 2
That was nice but definitely would have liked to see what a non-overcast purple sun would have done to that blob.
The issue I’ve found with getting the sword is that HEROES can somehow get ahold of it. My current chaos campaign has a hero of sigvalds faction carrying the thing around and I have no idea if assassinating them will retrieve it or not
I had the exact same problem in my Be'lakor game. Then the hero gave up the sword and the shrine of khaine is a ruin that no one seems interested in re-settling, so now I can't get it
@@unnamedenemy9 tell ur vassal to get it- they build it, take it, loose it and u take it... works xD

@@MrJeppo96 super fun mod! one of the best
I think you should rate one man doomstacks for warhammer 3 not comparing them with wh2 version because that's a different game after all.
On my First IE campaign as Sisters of Twilight, I got Isabela's trait (regeneration), It was an endgame crisis and she was commanding.
I guess they forgot to include her defeat trait if she was a hero in an army or it was too difficult to implement for the release.
I really miss when you could choose the initial direction of purple sun. Given its short duration, it made such a huge difference.
-1 for the Sword of Khaine
-0.5 for going against lame VC infantry etc. Send him against Bloodthirsters or something, and we’ll see
-0.5 for lack of defeat traits
So I guess 8/10, your favorite rating
Going against Khorne would be a challenge, but there is no way to fight against 3 full Khorne armies sadly. Other strong endgame armies would be dwarfes or wood elves, but dwarfes would kill themselves with their artilery and wood elves would be just annoying.
I've actually been fairly pleased with spirit leech's damage in wh3. I like the graphical update too.
Same, I'm playing a Caravan of Blue Roses (Helman Ghorst) campaign, and one of my necromancers got an item giving him spirit leech as a bound spell. It's been surprisingly good at dealing free damage to single entities. I hear it's not good at multiple entities though, and I haven't tried it.
@@TheWhiteDragon3 Vampire heroes spawning with the trait that gives them a bound Spirit Leech with 4 charges is so incredibly good. So much free damage, definitely one of the best traits in the game imo, especially since Vampire heroes are so strong.
@@TheWhiteDragon3 spirit leech is meant for single, or low entity targets. Something like murder of crows is meant for large entity targets. You can read it on the spell descriptons. Itll tell you the entity number theyre best against. (Low entity targets includes most monstrous infantry typically in the range of 12-16 models per unit, or chariots. Spirit leech is good against all that, although it is at its absolute best against single entities. Large entites are basically all normal infantry and large quantity cav, or small monster like warhounds. For stuff like that murder of crows would be better)
Probably the single best way to assassinate single targets early game
So, after testing Searing doom and Purple sun of Xereus on a situation almost identical to that I have come to the conclusion that a single Purple Sun does deal WAY more dmg than searing doom
Good example of my greatest weakness, for some reason I just won't attack what you tell me to
"Spirit Leech has always sucked" unintentional pun? :P
The Regen icon was not in Warhammer II until several years in; I also don't recall it being Warhammer I at all
after watching this i wanna go back and compare the wh2 one archaeon doomstack, being knocked around like a baby, having invincible stats but unable to do much as he struggled to stay on his feet
Another nerf to One Man Doomstacks and another reason for the Sword of Khaine being more needed, is the lack of Isabella's trait.
Chad Zhao Ming doesn't even need the Sword of Khaine, unlike virgin Archaon.
the sword should only be allowed to be featured for lords who wouldnt really suffer much or at all from having it in campaign.
I'd love to see an item tier list, I'm a hoarder and have a hard time fusing anything because I can see a use case for even gray items
Use the 100% item chance mod + better fusion mod and have fun since you will have more items than you could ever field
@@andrewparker3329 exactly what i m doing. Can recommend
As far as winds of magic go, so glad mods exist which remove the cap, reinstate knowledgeable and rework elements of arcane conduit. May not be what CA intended it's at least fun
Eye of Sheerian provides 25% wardsave in WH2, it is definitely better than in WH3
Depends on whether you want to micro or not. Barrier is technically unlimited regen with dedicated micro.
The Eye of Sheerian has already told me this one man doom stack rating, but I will hear it from your lips.
I'd say that if an army performs well regardless of whether or not it's perfected, it can gain a 10/10 rating. A 10/10 rating means it can deal with basically anything, or most anything and win without any real problems. If an army scores a 10/10 and it's not perfected, that just means it's true potential isn't needed to reach the 10/10 rating. If a 9/10 score is given to an army that's not perfected, then depending on how imperfect the army is, we can assume that it might just reach 10/10 if it was perfected. That's how I see it. As for the Sword of Khaine, yes it does essentially make an army a doomstack pretty easily, so the real question is whether or not the army could still do this without the sword, now for this instance, Archaon could manage this without the sword, but it wouldn't have gone as quickly and he'd likely have taken some actual damage towards the end. As such it'd be debatable if this would still be a 10/10, I'd argue it would still be a 10/10, and that it having the Sword of Khaine makes it an 11/10 army as you don't need the sword for this to work, so like the Kairos leading an army of lords of change doomstack, this is overkill.
Really nice thing about WH3 is you can just swap the gear you need before a fight. One of the better things about the game.
Oh it’s 10/10 for me even without SoK.
I think him making the talisman was fair because the barrier would of been pointless and he was in a blob the whole time thus making thus ward save more important.
Perhaps go standard- 8,5
And did he have throtts trait?
Legend, hope you'll do Archaon or Be'lakor stream they can confederate now in the new patch.
As for good arcane items, Tzeentch specifically has a rare arcane item (Scepter of Entropy) that gives +10% hp, +10 MA, +10 MD. Ironically, the best you can use that on is an exalted lord of change I guess, which tbf isn´t too bad, but also obviously not the best option. If you can get your hands on one of those as another faction though...
Actually, it seems it can drop for the Daemon Prince, too. And the +10% hp got changed to +10 WS. Still extremely good.
I still remember when Tyrion killed his own army with the Sword of Khaine.
And then Malekith woke up.
9.5/10 or 10/10. With the lower amount of winds of magic, you can't rely on spells so sword of khaine for AoE makes sense. It's not perfected but took no damage against 3 full armies. Sure it could be stronger, but if it's handling multiple armies with no downtime to heal, I doesn't have a practical impact. A couple more traits would be neat but what stat do you want to increase exactly?
10/10 is Zhao Ming with blade of slaanesh soloing 3 tzeentch doomstack which is the hardest in the game currently. So Yeah I think Archeon would've get deaded by that. Probably 9/10.
the AI changed so it does not assume you are part of a larger army when doing a 1 man army. Like the ai in tww2 was like "nah, no way hes charging my whole army with 1 guy, there must be more hidden!"
Please explain me why my brain, when i watch archaon miniature , sees a big nose and fire mustache
I somehow ended up with two Swords of Khaine in my current high elf campaign. I just found them in my inventory after a few confederations.
Yeah Eye of Sheeran providing 800 Barrier is a big nerf compared to the 25% wardsave it used to give.
Depends on how you want to use him. In a one-man, you're right. But if he's part of an army and you wanna cycle charge, barrier is basically unlimited regen.
He's a 10 but... he left his eye of Sheerian at home
One purple sun would've shattered 50% of those units.
ARCHAON
From my experience since Warhammer 2, Purple Sun does tons of damage but doesn't last long.
I heard somewhere that Archaon’s weapon, the Slayer of Kings’ ability to increase splash damage affects his spells’ damage output but I haven’t had the chance to test it out.
It’d be pretty interesting to see if it makes Searing Doom even better or if it makes Purple Sun viable.
Lore accurate Archaon gameplay
9.5, not boring to watch with the spell casting! 😆
I feel like there’s not enough pressure on the high elves to even have them build it. Every time I travel over there high elves dominate the area but the settlement is always at +2 (sword of Kane)
Actually, in WH3 you can get Isabella's defeat Trait, you just need to have wiped Von Carstein before the Vampire Endgame crisis happens
I really like pit of shades now, straight up kills any unit you properly hit with it
Thats a huge blob here. Just imagine a pit of shades or two here.
Un-dead regen so burning head may work in this case.
About that problem getting the sword: They probably got confused about the location of the sword. As it turns out, the sword wielders location is no longer constantly pinpointed, now it only shows the sword icon above the city that the sword wielder last entered. I think this is pretty cool because now you can actually sneak up on someone with the sword, as long as you don't enter new cities to reveal your plan. >;3
This probably would have gone by faster with burning head rather than searing doom.
10/10
Sword of Khaine draw backs were nearly non-existant at this point in the game
I tried getting the sword in my Archie campaign, but it got stuck on a DE assassin who wouldn't join an army or give the sword back.
searing doom is insane... playing as Vlad, one of ur early enemies is Gelt and he can cast the damn thing for like 3 winds absolutely decimates armies cause of the cooldown and damage/wind
They buffed Burning Head recently, it's actually pretty good again now.
It's easy if you can build t3 settlements. Capture the shrine of khaine in northern lothern and rank it up. Harder for races like warriors of chaos because you can only get it from the lord who currently has it, if nobody has it, you have to wait for the AI.
I've had issues getting the sword of khaine when taking it at sea. I destroyed their army and the sword of Khaine was given to one of their heroes.... bizarre
The Eye of Sheerian would not have been better. The barrier gives you a sad and pathetic 800 non-regenerating HP if you're the only unit in an army, you have to think of ward save as an effective HP increase, just in the case of Archaon alone it gives him over 11k HP if you take the Talisman of Preservation, whereas you'd only have him at 9862 (10662 with barrier) still because barrier doesn't regenerate in combat. -10% winds of magic spell cost and 800 barrier is not worth 16% ward save. Old Eye of Sheerian was better anyways, had 25% ward save on it, now it's just inferior because of the overall reduced effectiveness of spells in the game.
Onee thing to note is that Archaon's mounted animations are a lot better in Warhammer 3
Even unmounted. His animations are great now.
Dunno why but the AI never ever behaves to me like it does with legend, I even had cases of them unironically ignoring my meatshield heros completely
Half of the campaigns I’ve played so far won’t let me pick up the sword, very sad because In my Malus campaign that was the whole reason I even started it
I had one game where the sword of kanine kept changing hands like every 5 turns
16:52 Says Sylvania while having Vlad's faction icon lol
i think if you make 2 one man doomstack fight each other it will bbe realy fun to watch
I personally think Purple eye of Xereus wouldve been a lot better here. Seering doom is amazing but since you don't have any ally infantry around that could be hit with the vortex, it would be a lot more logical to use it over the bombardement spell.
well seeing how much the sword of kaine went out of the blob, having that with the purple sun would be a waste of winds...it might have been faster, might have been slower...seering doom was the safe and efficient option, imo
@@darth0tator it did go out of blobs but I still can't imagine seering doom doing more damage than the sword of khaine vortex right? For the small amount of time it spends inside the blob, vortex spells are usually more damage dealing than other since u disregard the safety aspect
Purple Sun doesn't do as much damage in WH3 as it did in WH2 and you can't control the starting direction like you could in WH2, so it's not as reliable as you might think. I remember being very unimpressed with the new version.
@@draegoch154 Seering doom was also buff and have a big explosion radius that deals a lot of 100% AP damage and ONLY for 5 WoM ! So no, seering doom was the way to go there. It is also way better than the vortex against cavalry and monster which has a lot of HP and few entity.
Alright I'm convinced now hahahaha you guys changed my mind
Negative public order isn't an issue when your garrisons kill rebels. You can actually just run the two -10 gifts, the -4 commandment, and the -8 from the sword and just farm rebels like the self raiding days of yore...
I’ve been playing for a couple weeks now, when I saw you drag the banner on to the character, I assume that makes it actually use it… wasn’t aware….
Archaon the EverSWOLEn
Deducting points from a one-man doomstack because it has faction-wide debuffs seems odd since the goal is to make the best single entity army - not the single entity army that also has no downside to the faction
Sword of Khaine was supposed to defeat Chaos, not join it!
I keep having to let the elves build up to level 3 on the khaine province, then when they don’t even build the shrine of khaine, I loot the province and wait another 10 turns or so. It’s horrible.
TF you mean Magic Resis doesn't do anything anymore?!
I think it's 9 (not perfected -0,5, Sword of Khaine -0,5). In the end game I don't think those diplomatic penalties affect that hard anymore when your relationships are at hundreds + or - anyway and the public order is easier to maintain than in WH2. And even that upkeep bonus is like 2,5 armies less for you later in the campaign, so, that might be something but not that essential if you build your eco and go for it.
I think WH2 Archaon is better. Easy magic resist, better ward save, more magic, and you can direct vortexes. One thing to note is that the sword of khaine and most of Archaons' spells have been nerfed from WH2 to 3. Flamestorm and the unnerfed sword of khaine is absolutely better.
(And channeling staff is absolutely the choice here, as it would make sword of khaine cast more often)
Strange, I've gotten sword of khaine on every WOC run so far this game.
Hey legend the blade of slaanesh is in immortal empires.i just got it as a dilemma choice for the eye of the gods as azazel
Playing on very hard. This dude rolls up with 2 other armies against 2 of my best armies both led by 2 level 50 lords, both handpicked armies specifically designed for these lords with the best boosts and stats possible. Rank 7 and up units. Rank 3 settlement with a garrison boost. Crushing defeat. Ok, maybe I can get valiant or close. But crushing? So I go to fight it out and my buddy plays the other side. We mess around and he just send this dude, this just Titan of a lord out there. This guy refuses to die. Towers pelting him. 8 units marauding him. A level 50 lord and 2 level 40+ heroes attacking him. It’s not enough. He’s just there like… is that all? I couldn’t fucking believe it. It made me understand why this was a crushing defeat. This guy was going to defeat me all himself 😂
I think defeat traits water down a doomstack or one-man-domstack. Every lord can get them, if every lord can get them it makes no sense to use them to compare said lords to each other. If a lord needs them he is automatically weaker then a lord who doesn't need them.
Seems like one lord doomstacks are better now just because the AI blobs instead of running around the map looking for the rest of your army (that isn't there)
Hey legend, could you compile a list of bugs? Or post a picture of your bug report on your media. This might compel the devs to prioritize these fixes when everyone is better informed of the bugs. I'll probably send my own in as well.
Imagine having access to doom rocket here :D
I think you forget Armour now from those calculations a bit. With that armour and ward save that magic dmg needs to be armour piercing mostly.
You know, I think Vilitch would be better. His arcane item provides 5% ward save, he's got the lore of tzeentch, and a lot of ways to recharge barrier.
Vilitch is a beast! I did the RoC campaign as him and I'm really bad at fights because I seriously struggle to keep track of everything. When the final army arrived in the last quest battle I didn't think I was gonna make it, but Vilitch was in the middle of it all fighting and casting Tzeentch's Firestorm and I don't think he lost much health (if any).
My blade hungers
I'd like to see how do you actualy build an army to kill a one man doomstack
I may regret saying this, but I want to see an Archaeon-stack like this up against a Ghorst Zombie-stack. I wonder who will out-sustain the other one?
i dont think the zombie stack can damage him
@@Lost7one Even low melee attack chance against high melee defence can hit. Eventually it hits a minimum guaranteed chance to damage the defender.
Admittedly though, the more I think about it the more I think Archaeon might have enough of a damage output to overpower Nehek-regeneration by himself.
