That cam hits harder than my drunk stepdad
Thats a big ol OOF.
Cam hits me harder than my ex wife
Damn 💀
The Craig of two years ago would be blown away by the truck now !! Good job 😎 👏
When you drained the coolant, that was like drunk me trying to pee in a toilet. Lol.
Yeah, made me grin too! You were standing in just about the right place. 8-)) Amazing that you saved enough to reuse it.
We get the best of both worlds with you. Young enough to know how to shoot a proper video but has enough connections and experience to get those old-timer tricks.
" Watch the temp. gauge ." Temp. gauge won't work as intended unless its submerged in coolant .
We realized that 😂😂
@@Thecraig909 THATS POWER SON!.......I SHED A MANLY TEAR WHEN THAT MOTOR STARTED UP!
NOW GO FORTH TO THE UNWASHED MASSES ...CONVERT THEM...BRING THEM TO THE BLUE OVAL MY SON
Awesome vid! I am 18 and bought my 69 f100 390fe about 6 months ago. I finally have it crusing down the road. It wasn’t easy. But it is a blast.
Was getting a little worried there for a while. Glad you're back and she sounds sweet.
Truck looks and sounds awesome. My 15 year old daughter loves it and is already starting to build her own F100 . Thanks for sharing those before and after pics they really got my daughter excited to see what hers will turn into.
The neighbor's are probably pissed lol. But, that thing is a BEAST!! Keep it up Craig!
It sounds fabulous! Sounds like a mid sixties 289 271HP, only meaner! You might want to look at Vise Grip Garage big block rebuild #2 installment where he gives very pointed instruction on setting valves with stud mount aluminum rockers with hydraulic radical cam. It looks to be fail safe, and something I would like to have known 50 years ago! Could have saved a lot of money.
I jus recently bought a 68 F100. I’ve looked at everything you’ve done to your F100 throughout your channel. The transformation is wicked!! Now you’ve got me hyped on how I want to do my build lol. I’ve got questions as well.
I bought a 1973 Ford f100 302 with a three on the tree I pulled my 351 out and she got 400k miles took it to the machine shop got 270 cam and just bought a borg Warner world class 5 speed I hope you get your truck done cuz I can’t wait for mine to look that good
I'm a Chevy guy, but absolutely love your F-100, Great videos!
When using those screw in head studs you should put the head on first then screw in the studs so as not to scrape the head on the threads of the studs and cause some aluminum shavings to possibly fall in the engine
I watched to the end and I'm so pumped to see your f100 back running and ready to see it back on the road. I have a 74 F100 myself. Ready to see the future f100 videos. Keep up the good work.👍 "Keep it tween the ditchs"😉
Been waiting for a long time man. Thought something happened car sounds good
I also just got a project truck running with the same noise and it was the after market roller rockers tapping/rubbing against the stock valve covers so I put tall valve covers on it and the noise went away.
Same thing happened to me. I tried cutting out the baffles to try to keep it stock looking, but they leaked out the breather. I got the black aluminum Ford racing with red accent valve covers.
Love to see her come alive again! An idea to resolve noise based off of my recent 351W build in my dentside: if it isn’t valve train, check your intake bolts to see if everything is sealed properly. Had a concerning noise similar to yours that was caused by an air/vacuum leak coming up where a bolt and washer met the aftermarket intake; we eliminated noise once we added gasket maker and totally sealed off space between bolt, washer & intake
Thanks for the info! Didn’t think about that one.
could also be a header flange leak. sounds alot like a knock.
@@Thecraig909 happy to help diagnose this! Also random question, but where did you get your 2-piece heater hose fitting going into your intake? Been looking for something like it forever
Saved me MUCH work & frustration when I put a power dual master cylinder on mine, I used ALL flex hose lines in the WHOLE brake system, NO bending whatsoever
I try and keep up on your f100 its been badass to watch you build it. I'm stuck in a rut with my highboy trying to figure out which direction I want to go with it. So far ive made it reliable by rewiring it and upgrading the ignition system, cooling and suspension. Slowly been fixing the body, ive got a bed thats in great shape but i still use the truck to cut and haul firewood so im kind of afraid to fix it up too much.
Man I have had a 67 f 100, two 73 F100s and my 2nd 73 had a 390 built with intake, cam, posi rear end...God I miss that truck. Great job . Btw I am in college for Auto mechanics and I will be 50 yrs old in August
Every project starts somewhere! I started following your channel after the open headers at school video. I've loved watching the progress on the F100. Cant wait to see it ripping down the track! Keep it up Brother.
I remember my first vid was you putting the Edelbrock carb and offenhauser intake on your truck. I was in English class tuning out my teacher when I found it! Can’t believe it was 4 years ago. I’m almost 22 now. Crazy how fast time has gone
Just got my 72 F250 up and chuggin too, It's such a great feeling to hear that rumble
Its good to see the F100 running.
I’m glad you’re back! I was just telling my fiancé it’s been forever since you posted! Love the f100 content as I have a 1970 100 sport custom. Sounds sick! Can’t wait to hear my rebuilt engine with 10:1 and tons of power! Keep it up man
I started this video shortly after you uploaded but ended up crashing. I got up kind of bizarrely early this morning and finished it up. These kind of videos are great for inspiration, I've got way too many projects in process but seeing your progress helps. Yeah, get outside and get that thing done.
Hey Craig Badass Truck Man! My dad and I have a 73 F100 with a 302 and a original 3 speed also ! We are trying to bring back to life and I’m aspiring your Build please Keep up the Good F100 Content Man Thanks !
💯🙏🏼
First time viewer. Nice truck. I've owned many F100's, so that's what made me click. Another viewer suggested watching Derek from Vice Grip Garage as he's got a great set of videos on valve train adjustments and pushrod calculations. I've built 50 motors or more (long ago lost count), but he even learned me a thing or two. Besides being funny as heck, the dude will help you give it all the onions.
What a transformation you did with that beast. She sounds mean!! Glad you're back, got a bit worried! I'm hoping to get a house with a garage soon so I can get working on some upgrades to my 1970 C10.
Love your methodical approach to this build. Sweet ride you got there. I don’t think that engine tick will be too hard to find. It sounds very valve coverish on the video. A question I have is did you tack weld the guide plates once you had them dialed in? I have run into them walking over a bit and have since then always run a little tack weld for insurance. Good luck with that machine! Glad to see you come this far.
yo i just got a 1970 f100, super excited about it, and im so glad i found this channel, you got awesome content
Man I was beginning to wonder about you. Glad to see you back. That’s an awesome transformation from what it was. Looks great! Sounds mean too!
Great transformation! This stuff helps motivate me to get my 67 Mustang finished. Been eyeballing BluePrint as well.
Gotta love the time-lapse. And- thanks for not being dead.
Wow... This truck has been truly transformed! Congrats
Sounds good, but there has to be a reason why the front 2 are ticking, hope you can track it down before it causes more problems and money 👍
Funny(to me) that he didn’t have any valve train issues or noises when he had only 9 psi of oil pressure, but ngl, it sounds amazing
Seeing you work on your Ford F100 reminds me of my dad working on his truck..now I hate that it was sold when he passed away in 96.
Looks great and sounds even better, I've been watching your truck build from day one. Awesome work and keep them coming
Damn, son....that thing sounds rowdy! Worth the wait to get this update....coming together nicely. Great work. Look into your pushrod length, as others have mentioned, regarding that top end noise. Wondering if that's part of your issue...
The coolant said wtf you mean go in the bucket 🤣🤣🤣
Shows how much you love that truck to make it into what it is today keep up the good work👍
Doing same thing , ton of money in my bbc turbo s10 build. Can't overlook anything. . keep videos coming . 👍
You give a lot of great content, especially in this video. Next thing i know is i watched it to the end! Just bought a 71 short bed myself. Never thought of doing it until i started watching your channel.
Great video, the wait was worth it. Kudos to you, I have great respect for you putting your education first. Looking forward to your next video.
Amazing transformation under the hood looks and sounds meaner than a junkyard Ford!I would highly recommend investing in a push length checking tool kit from Summit to finally straighten out the ticky pesky valve train issue though.Good luck sir dude!
Hey Craig, I recently dropped a blueprint 302 long motor with aluminium heads ((H9008) I noticed yours were H9009) into my 66 Mustang and I have slight noise on the left side head. I believe it to be a rocker, although I checked all rockers on that side and they were tight. I have driven approx 1000 miles so far on this engine and the noise has quieten down considerably but can still hear it from time to time when driving slowly. Just thought I’d share with you. Congrats on the build and also love the head liner!!!
stock valve covers? rockers could be hitting them. that or a lifter is collapsing.
Oh yeah been waiting for you to drop a new video. She sounds mean as hell.
Keep doing what your doing! With the cost you have in the truck already, take your time with it and make sure it is right. Love the not bleeding brakes so you won't drive it. As a Ford guy myself I have really enjoyed the truck series and I too want to see you have success and as much fun with it as you can and not have to worry about it breaking.
Shes roudy! Glad to see you're making good progress on it. I think I've been watching since 8k subs? You've made a ton of progress and are a big inspiration to all of us young guys, so thank you for what you do! My biggest financial burden right now is putting a forged internal, .030 over, performer rpm top end, AMC 401 into my 76 Gremlin. Hoping for 570hp at the rear wheels and wheelies
Glad your back. The f-100 is looking and sounding good..
Always watch until the end on the f100 build. Don't worry about pumping out videos, just makes the next one better. Cant wait to see the Marti report!
Nice work. Come pretty far. That thing is a beast. .
Pretty soon you will have a collection that will make people jalous...the f100 and the galaxies..wow.
Great job. Have you seen vice grip garages pushrod length calculations it's the first thing o thought with your little noise. Good luck getting it sorted
Glad you found the problem and my guess was wrong
Man thank goodness you made another video you are probably my favorite to watch its cool to see kids like me building old cars and trucks
Man ive been watching you with this truck for years now and i still absolutely love everything you have done with it
The bit draining the coolant got me chuckling. Trust me you’re not the only one to do that.
Glad you went with Blueprint
Love your vids, glad you back and at it with the ol f100
Ya I did miss ya bud, but from what I’ve seen so far it sounds insane
Welcome back craig..man that F100 sounds so sick.and choppie
Valvetrain just wearing in. Readjust the rockers. Heavier oil is just a bandage for the tick. No worries. Sounds real good!
This is the video I've been waiting for. Sounds a lot different than it did before. You'll get everything figured out. Can't wait to see it going down the road
Glad to see you back, man! I've only been watching since you got the white Galaxy back on the road, so I never saw how the truck looked when you first got it. Awesome transformation, and this is officially getting bookmarked as inspiration to get my shit together and keep working to get my Chevelle back in fighting shape.
Check your pushrods. Vice Grip Garage just put out a video today talking about finding your correct pushrod length.
he did in the video
@@TylerDuysen I know he checked them before it ran, but it could have still bent them when it was running.
@@davidjames2788 true but i doubt it his old one that pushed the stud up isnt even bent he probably just needs to adjust them remember hes got an 1/8in of adjustable play to work with
greatjobbro..so glad to see younger kids today still into the older stuff..sounds like you just need to go over the rockers again and get the correct preload on the lifters..then she will be a ripper no doubt!
Craig = one smart ambitious young man.
Git er done F100 truck build, great video content, much appreciated.
I run valvoline vr1 20-50 in my 408ci Ford and it loves it! Plenty of zinc for the flat tappet cam to stay happy. Make sure you have enough preload. When I put my cam in I thought 1/2 a turn past zero lash was enough preload but I had a similar tick to what you have. I looked at my cam specs and it called for 3/4 turn of preload on the lifters and that took away my ticking noise. So just some food for thought!
Thank you I’ll definitely look into it!
It sound so good! Glad you are back!
Watched to the end. Craig and other Galaxie fanatics keep me company on the treadmill.
Micro ball valves are available to screw into to block for coolant drainage. Luv mine, They are barbed on the end for a hose witch in my case is clear. Mess free..! Draining from the block lets the level come down far enough where if the intake is taken off there is no intake and head port coolant that dumps into the oil galley, or if the heads are removed nothing dumps into the cylinders. If my motor oil is clean i still remove it anyway and re-use it.
Good to see you back
Loved that comparison at the end. Motivates me with my truck
That's why I like my old trucks, you can climb in to the engine bay to work, even with the 429 CJ in mine.
I love seeing what you're doing with the engine bc I have a Falcon with a sbf, so I'm taking a ton of notes! Can't wait to see you tear things up with this thing!!! It sounds amazing!!
Hell yeah dude glad your back that trucks come a long way
I am so pumped to build the 302 in my f150. I’m taking the old fuel injection off and carburetor swapping it. You truck makes me want to build it more
Hell yea bud! I needa cruise by and see this in person. Sounds absolutely insane.
i would be checking your push rod length..rocker arm geometry is paramount for valvetrain to be correct....vice grip garage just did his big block showing how to get proper rocker arm geometry.i have used same method for years..it is the best way mate..F100 is looking awesome mate.
You got skills. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep them going. I'm sticking a 302 in my 65 cj5
Before and after pics were awesome. Great transformation! Keep up the good work. 👍
The transformation of your truck has really been fun to watch ... so great to see you guys carrying on this hobby & helping each other build some bitchin' rides.
Looking forward to more on both the truck & the Glaxie , along with all the other guys in the crew & their rides, in the future.
I did the same thing with my 78. Forgot to put the wheel seals on.. I had to go back and pull everything apart and put them in. Also about to do the brake lines on mine and new radiator.
Sounds killer!
Awesome build man. Watched all the way through
For stock bottom in 302 with the top end that you put on this engine that thing sounds ungodly wicked keep up the good work holla if you hear me
I know I sound a little old-school but whatever happened to the Crown Vic frame? I was really excited to see what you were going to do with that.
Glad your back try 15w40 t4 rotella oil I used it in my old 72 f250 it works great because as you said older engines have less tolerances thicker oil really helps but anyways it sounds really good
Nice.! 👍🏼 I have a 78 F100 flareside been wanting to get going, this is motivating
I did. Glad to see you back. Nice sound.
My mans in the background randomly walks up talking about some “howdy dooty bitch “ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 wasn’t expecting that
Awesome to see and watch all the progress you've made over the years. Keep up the great work Craig!
Glad to see your back...great to see the truck running again
Need to check lash when hot. Info should be on cam card. If good, lifter(s), a/or check the rods. Odds are the springs on the new read are stronger than you had. In this case, the lifters you are using with your cam and old heads may not be adequate to stay pumped up with the new heads.
Alright man finally! Been waiting for an update! Glad your getting the F100 back up and going!
I love this truck have been following you for a long time it would look a lot tougher with a chrome bumper on the back to me. Good job man
Good job! FYI, The company CPP in Southern California says it’s coming out with modular dropped 2 inch spindles for Ford twin I beams. Hope it’s true, would love to add another two inch of drop to my 3 inch dropped beams....
You may have 2 failed lifters if the noise is from the same cylinder. It can happen that they wont pump up under pressure. Thicker oil may work but theres a possibility youll need another set of lifters for that cylinder
Happy to see you back Craig.
