- We now have the stone hearth pad complete and wood stove installed in our off grid cabin! This stone hearth pad was very cheap since we used natural stones found around the cabin. I love how this DIY stove hearth pad turned out. Having our first fire in the cabin was an exciting achievement and makes the cabin feel so cozy in our Canadian winter forest!

I believe the word “Hearth” actually sounds like “Darth, like Darth Vader”… the ar sound is strong.
It’s looks beautiful, l love what you’ve done❤️
you need cement sheet first and then mortar and stone. Great cabin, good luck!
Beautiful place.
Your cabin is so beautiful and you did a great job laying out that hearth and mortaring it all in. It's cool seeing everything come together.
When you get a few minutes, look up how to build a "top down" fire. It's so much better than any other method of making a wood fire. Once you have it laid out, you light it and close the door. You don't have to tend it and keep it going, plus you get less smoke in your home. The smell of a wood-burning fire is nice...in small doses, but if you've heated with wood very much, you know it can quickly become a problem. The top down method of starting a fire is very efficient and results in virtually no smoke getting into the house.
Funny. I have that exact same wood stove, this just reminded me to go throw a log on. Thanks!
wont be long now ,great looking job
You guys should be very proud of yourselves. Hearthstone and wood stove looks 👍🏼👀👍🏼

What's the entire Square footage of the house 🏠
why did you not use the mapie sealer before using the mapie adhesive
Love the cabin, I am working on building my own now. I have a similar stove, wondering how big that paver was that you used to level the stove?
Thanks! I think it was 12 by 12 inches. Best of luck with yours, I hope it turns out well!
Where did u get ur board and button siding and wat kind of wood is it ty it is a beautiful cabin
Thank you! Our siding is hemlock and we got it from my uncles mill, he owns a small lumber mill in New Brunswick.
What you using for back up heat. I live in near nome Alaska. Have 2 story home. Have. Bigger wood stove and 2 pot bellies. I burn coal in pots belly and different wood. Plus. Have gas heater. When needed
Our plan is to have a propane heater as our secondary heat source but we have not installed it yet.
This is AWESOME! Do you guys sell the plans for this layout?
Thanks! We have not sold them at this point, however I have an old video that shows the floor plans if you are interested. ruclips.net/video/WxGmFppIbjg/видео.html
how much did the whole cabin cost?
i guess not
We have not completed the cabin yet, but so far we have put around 40,000$ Canadian into it. Once we have finished I plan to do a video on cost. Thanks for watching!
do you have a rough floorplan?
t
Hi, yes I have a video that shows the floor plan ruclips.net/video/WxGmFppIbjg/видео.html
Hope this helps!
You should have put down 30lb. felt before putting the mortar down.If you ever have to remove the pad it is going to be a bear to remove the cement residue. Have you asked the people you got the stove from if you should have a combustion air intake duct? Is there an air space behind the metal shield? If not there should be.
A suggestive tone is always friendlier than a directive tone…
😍😍😍😍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👌👌👌
