    I found you through Facebook, and this is helpful. I was able to upload something simple from my iPad. Of course, I have the newest version, and a lot of things have changed! What I want to do is something apparently more complex. I created a heart, and then I created a lot of smaller cut-out shapes. No matter what I do, those shapes end up scattering all over the place when I upload the svg file to Cricut Design Space. I even tried combining them all on one layer.
    When I get a minute, I’m going to see if I have better luck on my laptop (which is now downloading another update!).

    Just checking to see if you ever got more figured out on the sizing. I'm wanting to create svg's for acrylic blanks but when I save it, it's got to open in cds and similar programs in the correct size or they won't work. I'm still trying to decide what programs I want to use and how to do it all correctly. Looking at inkscape, AD and procreate currently but AFAIK procreate doesn't export svgs.

    • @ShootingStarSVG
      @ShootingStarSVG  2 года назад

      Inkscape is probably going to be your best bet in terms of usability. Affinity is a little limited. I haven't had anything further on the sizing in AD to other programs outside of this

    This video really helped. Thanks. I don't see any way to use Affinity Design for creating DXF files. Most graphics are sold in EPS, PNG, DXF and EPS. Any thoughts on this? I would love to save money and give up AI for this software but I don't think I can because of them not adding that file selection.

    • @ShootingStarSVG
      @ShootingStarSVG  3 года назад

      DXF is an Autocad file
      Important for silhouette studio basic edition and glowforge
      PNG yes transparent photo
      EPS is encapsulated post script generally used for AI
      You can convert svgs in Inkscape to get the DXF and PNG if need be. Really all I use is SVG DXF JPG and PNG
      I'd say make the jump will save you some money!

    I'm confused - what is this video actually showing/demonstrating?
    SVG files are Scalable Vector Graphic files, so by definition, they can be scaled up or down without any loss of quality (unlike a rasterised graphic format that consists of pixels rather then instructions for drawing lines, curves, primitives etc) - so why not just import the file to CDS how it's exported by default by AD (i.e. the small version), and then scale the image up in CDS to the desired size?

    • @ShootingStarSVG
      @ShootingStarSVG  3 года назад

      Because customers are complaining. It helps with customer service. We know the scaling is not an issue the customer does not (in some cases)
      You're 100% correct.
