      Jack McDonagh The FX8 and 9 series cpu's have 8 real cores it's just that every 2 cores share a single resource. The quad core Intels like my i7 have 4 fake cores which are known as threads.

      -T-X-M- OK two things here.
      www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116942
      These are the important things you should be looking for.
      Operating Frequency3.1 GHz (3.3 GHz Turbo) L2 Cache4 x 256KB
      L3 Cache6MB
      Now the FX 6300
      www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286
      Operating Frequency3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) L2 Cache3 x 2MB
      L3 Cache8MB
      OK.I disagree.But i will show you why i disagree instead of being a dick to people like others do.
      You have where the data is stored before it is released.That is the L3.It is sent there then Led out through the pipelines to the L2 before releasing it through the threads of the processor.If you look at the
      i5 4440 you have 6MB in at one time an going out at 1MB at a time.This is slow.It is limiting the pipeline.So data gets to your system slower.
      Then you have the FX 6300 at 8MB an sends out a pipeline transfer of 6MB at a time.Which is must faster data to your system.This is why i disagree.This is what gives you the determined number of GHz speed.I hope that helps.

      On a second thought intel is good for gaming too,but i think what realy matters is what do you want to do with your pc.For example if i wanted a pc just for gaming i would probably go with an i5 or an i7 4790k but if i also wanted to live streaming i would go with an amd.Amd has cheaper cpu and these extra they put in some cpus (FX 8350) come realy handy.So i dont realy think there is a winner better the nerver ending war, intel vs amd

    • @belvawarrior
      @belvawarrior 9 лет назад

      King Firefly amd is just a budget option, intel beats amd every time they are pitted against each other, amds answer to the i7, the fx 8350 cant even match the performance of an i5

    4 reasons amd is better than intel.
    1:Provides extra heating for the house, AMD makes sure your family sleeps well.
    2:it uses more power, which is good because it also is what aids in helping you heat your house on those cold nights
    3:cores....thats right:) cores.
    4:It's cheap, so instead of spening 80$ more. I can take that 80, and order me a pizza. All in all, its a good deal:)

    I love both AMD and Intel
    Intel Pros
    -Hyperthreading
    -Less Power Consumption
    -Fast processing power
    -Budget and Fast CPU(Pentium G)
    Cons
    -Too pricey
    -Needs more variety
    AMD Pros
    -Affordable 6/8 core CPUs
    -Great Price:Performance Ratio
    -Amazing APUs
    -Utilizes all cores
    Cons
    -Slightly less processing power
    -Too much power consumption for FX 8000/9000 series

    • @WarsunGames
      @WarsunGames 10 лет назад +1

      Bullpucky.I have owned both AMD by no means gives less processor power.intel chips slows down benchmarks so they run longer an give more FPS.So processing power is a joke for Intel chips.An Power consumption is a utter lie.Intel chips blow 8 times more power than AMD chips because from Phenom II to today AMD chips power down to save energy.Intels don't.

      No.He is a Intel user.Plain an simple.I build computers.Any talk of AMD using more power.Bull pucky.Any talk of AMD over heating That is based of a manufacturer of motherboards not processors.Wrong motherboard Overheating problems.Plain an simple.But people who have not know or ignore these fact are people who do not use or build AMD systems.They are Intel users.The only con AMD has is poor advertisement.
      That is it.Every accommodation they have made is for the customer.Plain an simple.I am not going to judge Intel. I think they do fine for there products but their business practices are criminal.If their processors generate more heat.Get a water cooler an stop bitching.Systems slow.Buy some faster ram bitch!Drive isnt fast enough for your processor get a SSD an STFU.Seriously.Well that is my opinion of these people.If you like Intel fine.But dont claim stuff that is not true of your competition.I`m just saying.

    I mean it's not really even fanboy thing, AMD is way behind on a technical standpoint to the point that it's not even an opinion based question... it's pretty much a fact.

    • @ForTheViolence
      @ForTheViolence 9 лет назад +10

      ***** Yes, intel chips from 3 generations ago are faster than he current fx offerings.

    • @ForTheViolence
      @ForTheViolence 9 лет назад +8

      ***** AMD doesn't make a single state of the art thing in any market, and intel has a much larger market share, stop lying. Also Intel cpus cost less to make because their engineers are competent enough to make 14 nm chips. and their cpus are efficient enough to not need a bunch of extra cores therefore intel makes alot more money per chip than amd does. like i said 3 year intel chips are faster than amds current offerings, all of them that's a fact.

    • @ForTheViolence
      @ForTheViolence 9 лет назад +5

      ***** The 48 "THREAD" cpu wasn't something intel made because they felt threatened by amds lackluster 8 core cpus. also you are misinformed, there is no 48 core cpu The 48 "Thread" cpu, is actually two seperate 12 core intel xeons that have two seperate slots on a motherboard if you get a dual cpu motherboard making both cpus combined a 48 "thread" system. it's a work station part, so no shit not everyone is going to use it, it's not a consumer grade product. which is a completely different market that AMD doesn't even have involvement in. and like i said "intel cpu's cost less to make" the keyword is make, intel cpus cost significantly less money to manufactur because the chips are on a smaller Die, smaller die means smaller transistors which = smaller manufacturing cost. amd chips cost almost twice as much to manufacture and they sell for less than intel chips, so not only does intel sell more volume but they also make significantly more money per chip. You are really misinformed and it's obvious you are biased. I'm sorry, but amd doesn't make any enthusiast cpu's.

    • @ForTheViolence
      @ForTheViolence 9 лет назад +1

      ***** your amd cpu not lagging doesn't mean intel isn't leagues above amd on a technological stand point. It's irrelevant, if you like your amd cpu then that's good. But that has nothing to do with what we are discussing.

    • @ForTheViolence
      @ForTheViolence 9 лет назад +5

      ***** Jerks? These companies don't owe you anything, they are running a business not trying to worry about your well being. If you don't think the price is worthwhile then just stick to amd, it's the only reason people buy amd anyway. Because it's more affordable, other than that there's no reason to buy amd.

      16gb
      1tb
      r9 290x

      For video editing don't get the 512 gb ssd, you need a large hdd unless you plan to kill it within a year. Just get a WD black edition for video editing purposes and storage. Get a smaller SSD for all your temp files, OS, and other programs that get updated every so often.
      plus you'll save a ton of money.
      i would also get a fx8320 if you're ona really tight budget, but i doubt you are if you were gonna get that 512gig.

      I don't think they will console players are starting to realize how bad they really are because think you pay $300 for underpowered hardware that has practically no exclusives because most are now on windows 10 on top of that you have to pay $60 a year to actually play online along with your internet bill and if you need to change your name that's another $10,the only way to get a refunds if you don't enjoy a game over Xbox is to get on internet browser and contact Xbox support (which has the worst customer support I have ever seen) and pray they give you a refund

      Sony Trinitron
      - i5 and i7 processors give more FPS in games compared to AMD CPU's.
      - Intel CPU's run a LOT cooler and consume much less power.

    • @XxJaffaCakeBoysxX
      @XxJaffaCakeBoysxX 9 лет назад +13

      HA^
      1. You pay like 200$ for like 2 more fps (If both are optimized right, but would get more on games developed for Intel CPUs and same the other way)
      2. My AMD FX 6300 runs very cool in idle and under load with fan cooling
      3. It's takes more power since it has more cores and raw performance compared to a Intel cpu with lower clock speeds and less cores.

    • @florisr9
      @florisr9 9 лет назад +13

      XxJaffaCakeBoysxX 1. You only pay 50-100$ more for a much better performing Intel CPU.
      2. A similar performing Intel CPU would use like 50% of the power of the FX-6300.
      3. An Intel cpu with 6 cores performs WAY better than the 6300 and even the 9560. Even a good quad-core intel performs better than a 9590 octa-core.

    • @motivated_capybara
      @motivated_capybara 9 лет назад +3

      Floris Rossel Intel does consume less than AMD, but they overheat extremely quick (especially i5 and i7). But many tests result in AMD having a higher FPS than Intel.

  • @VikingDudee
    @VikingDudee 10 лет назад +72

    I like them both, but Im not spending more then $200 on a CPU. I have a FX8320 and Im happy with it, got it to 5ghz on the H100 and evey game I play it does just fine. Intel may be faster, but I'll take AMD's price over most Intel CPU's.
    Intel doesn't seem to have a good middle ground, All of their i5's are way to much, I mean yeah the 3570k is a good CPU, but even today being at $300 USD is to much when I can get a the 8320 that vary close to its performance for $149.
    Not saying i wouldn't ever own an Intel, I own a i5 2500k in another system and it does well at 4.2ghz, but I would rather spend the extra cash I saved from not spending $400 for a good Intel CPU and use it towards a beastly Graphic card(s). though AMD did over price the FX9xxx series, simply get an 8320 or 8350 and oc it with ease.

      Benjamin Wiseman yeah, mine will do 4.5ghz at stock voltage on prime all night long, 6 - 7 hours till I stopped it int he morning. Max recorded voltage was 1.38v, thats was where I was gonna stop because I was already happy with it. But the itch for more you know lol. my buddies 8350 was kinda bad on my system, it was only able to get to 4.8ghz where it needed 1.52v to pass even an hour of prime, and it was cooking at 64c. I'd like to go for a real water cooling setup, but im focusing on a 2nd GPU right now.

    • @Kepe
      @Kepe 9 лет назад +7

      Rusty Shackleford Yeah that line kind of made this whole video lose its credibility. While AMD CPUs might clock higher with LN2, the fact is that you can't run an everyday use computer with 24/7 LN2 cooling. Also, AMD's high-end CPUs have a 220W TDP. That's almost 2.5 times the power consumption and heat compared to Intel, and it still doesn't match the actual performance Intel has. You need a huge watercooling setup to do any kind of overclocking with such high power consumption.
      I have an analogy for Intel and AMD CPUs:
      A 4-core Intel CPU is like having four big garden hoses. You can always run a lot of water through them without having to use a pump with a kot of pressure (a lot of water = a lot of performance, more pressure = more power consumption)
      An "8-core" AMD CPU is like having four smaller garden hoses which each split into two along the way. So you have 8 ends but only 4 beginnings. You need a high pressure water pump to run water through them.
      If an application is optimized to run on the AMD style of hose, it can pump water through the AMD hoses at the higher pressure, almost as fast as it can through the larger Intel hoses with less pressure. But if the application is just coded normally without optimizing it for anything specific, it can't pump anywhere near as much water through the AMD style hoses, but it still can pump tons of water through Intel's hoses.
      Intel's CPU cores are each individual, separate cores that work by themselves. AMD's current CPU cores in their FX CPUs come in pairs that share the beginning of the pipeline. This causes a bottleneck in many situations, which is why it doesn't work as well compared to Intel's individual cores.
      I'm not some Intel fanboy either, I've had AMD processors when they were still competitive against (and even better than) Intel. I really hope AMD's Zen architecture is truly competitive against what Intel will have in 2016. It's good to have competition in the CPU (and GPU) space. Enthusiast level CPU prices are so high because Intel has been so dominant on the CPU market for many years now.
      The saddest thing is that even AMD's own Project Quantum, the fancy futuristic looking small computer with two R9 Fury X's inside, has an Intel CPU inside it... AMD simply doesn't have anything to offer right now if you want high performance at a reasonable power/heat level. I wish they did.

      Hamster1022 tldr; Current AMD CPUs suck (bad performance and huge power consumption compared to Intel).
      I wish they didn't suck because currently Intel is left untouched at the high-end market and can price their stuff however they like. Let's just wish AMD's Zen architecture is competitive against what Intel has in 2016 (Kaby Lake?) so that we can have some competition at the higher end again.

      I definitely will. Combined with HD7950, I will play everything on High-Ultra. But that isn't the point. I meant AMD are cheaper alternative of Intel. But if the price is not a factor, how can you compare them. Intel's equivalents are better. Intel's stronger single core performance will make a large difference than AMD's extra cores. And it needs to overclock to match Intel's stock speeds. Not to mention the higher power consumption and heat. So that means AMD is more expensive than Intel in longer time.
      p.s. There are some examples when Intel equivalents are cheaper. Around i3 and fx8xxx series.

      Ken Lu I just made a new PC - Intel Pentium g3258, R9 280, Kingston HyperX 8gb and 120gb Samsung 840evo SSD on Gigabyte Z97P for around $500 and run everything on High-Ultra. At the moment it works very well on 4.0+ ghz for around 60w and compared to FX-8350 (125W) works better in most of the games because AMD's cores are small, 32nm.... But in multi-threading AMD would work better than g3258.

The engine that both of those games use rely on CPU more than anything and what usually ends up happening is on AMD processors, framerate will be limited by the CPU as only 2 cores are used. A very much overlooked issue.

      whats the most powerfull AMD architecture for gaming? dont they have all 125W tdp and 95W tdp there. And Skylake has just 65 mostly and latest are 95. so intel are objectively cooler, but ALSO very importantly AMD mobo chipsets are hot, which is even more of an inconvenience because you have to somehow directly cool the NB if you want it to function.

    • @kgtc
      @kgtc 7 лет назад

      Vladislav Kostin But AMD CPUs throttle at 71.1°C, and burn at 80+°C, they run cooler because they need to. And I run them with dual stacked dual 140mm on a dual slot 280mm water radiator for 300W.

    • @vladkostin7557

      KGT UserCast I see, so if that accounts for all the TDP difference (which I doubt, maybe), then the joke maybe does not work, but still chipsets are much hotter. But the main point is that it takes much more to cool an AMD then Intel.

      Another sign that AMD CPU produces more heat would be if it consumes more power, which it does?

  • @Jonathan-sw4zq
    @Jonathan-sw4zq 9 лет назад +9

    Here are my thoughts on your video:
    First reason:
    Intel Processors can overclock just fine. I got an i7 2700k @ 4.9ghz. Also clock speed doesn't mean everything. Also not all non "k" variations on Intel processors can't be overclocked. An i7 3820 can be overclocked just fine. My friend has a rig with an i7 3820 with water cooling @ 4.7ghz.
    Second Reason:
    First of all AMD 8 core processors ONLY HAVE 4 PHYSICAL CORES! Intel multicore performance is just as good as AMD multicore performance believe it or not. An i5 4690k overclocked will beat the AMD 9590 in basically anything, even multicore performance (however not every multicore application). The i7 4790k will beat any AMD processor on the market right now at anything, and yes believe it or not hyper threading actually does make a difference.
    Third Reason:
    Who the hell cares about iGPUs? Any gamer or professional will NOT use an iGPU. They will either use consumer or professional grade graphics cards. iGPU's are basically in this day and age a non-factor. Also Skylake has worked very hard on improving iGPU's and while I have not seen a direct benchmark comparison between AMD and Intel Skylake iGPU's, I would not be surprised if Intel has closed this "gap" you speak of. Also Intel processors bottleneck GPU's less, meaning in all reality, Intel processors will allow you to have better graphics performance if your using high end graphics cards or sli/crossfire.
    Fourth reason:
    I will agree with you on this. AMD is cheaper. However here's something for you AMD fanboys out there to think about, it quality. Believe it or not but you do get what you pay for. This means in term of future proofing and longevity of the processor, Intel will win. The i5 2500k Overclocked is still an amazing CPU and a very viable option in the world of gaming. Despite this being 3 or 4 years old (I forget the exact release date at the top of my head) it still games well! So in all reality with that said the fact that your processor will actually last you longer, really does narrow that price gap quite a bit in my opinion. I'd also like to say that AMD pricing doesn't mean better performance, it just means better performance per dollar. However the Pentium G3259 can OC to like freaking 4.4ghz on the stock cooler and 4.9ghz max (maybe 5ghz???). however the G3258 Price Performance beats that of every AMD processor on the market, and in single or dual threaded games it still kicks AMD's ass.
    I do miss the days of the CPU war, as it was a time when performance gaps were needed for each company to actually survive. But unfortunately for people both on Team Red and Team Blue AMD has been killing itself. This means Intel can get away with release new processor generations with only 15-20% performance because they have no competition. And I bet it's gotten to the point that if AMD actually did release a good processor that Intel could just pull a new CPU out to beat that one (I'm guessing on this point, but it wouldn't surprise me).
    Also another reason why Intel is better is less wattage usage. The FX 9590 uses 240 Watts non oc. You say that AMD Processors OC better, well you better get a tough ass power supply to overclock that thing.... Heck I bet I could run GTX 980 OC for less power.
    What I'm trying to say that AMD is even starting to lose out on Budget builds with the G3258 and there is NO high end competition from AMD anymore. Not to mention NVIDIA is just destroying AMD to... I really do feel bad for AMD these days...

      As a Former Intel user.I cant think of any reason to buy an Intel.If you like Intel That's fine.But as long as you have the douches going to AMD pages to criticize mock an try their best to humiliate AMD who has done nothing to anyone.They will only have our hate for Intel fans an Intel users.AMD fans an users don't go to Intel pages an thumbs down their videos.AMD fans don't go to Store pages an give false review an give 1 star to Intel products.An just lie an lie an lie.So no.No no support.Go to all the fake web pages like CPUBoss.They're pretty popular Intel fan based webpage.
      Or If you are into fake scores try Cinebench or even 3DMark.They always fake benchmarks.

    Too many Amd owners with inferiority complexes and too many Intel owners with egos based on the size of their wallets. Firstly know what you want a system for, research benchmarks, read comparison reviews, avoid fan boys and make an informed purchase. Then enjoy your hardware and don't worry about feeling inferior or superior to others, ignore all that BS and enjoy your tech!

      No we just want to be proven wrong without any cheap tricks.Which every single time we see cheap tricks from Intel.We would gladly move over to Intel if we saw legit proof they had superior anything.We don't see it.An so many others are tricked by fake benchmarks slowing down transfer rates on the processor to make it look like it blows away in FPS from just a processor.Which is a lie.There are just too many thing we say no to.

    • @AlkanphelPlays
      @AlkanphelPlays 9 лет назад

      Well regardless of your biased opinion, it is a fact that Intel do own AMD when it comes to single core performance, so much so that they have happily kept their cores lower than AMD's. Reason? Well because each single core they deliver at stock out performs multiple AMD cores running at higher clock speeds, why? Better architecture, simple. Intel's architecture has been so good since the first Core series that now they rest on their laurels and incrementally increase frequencies and cores whilst focusing on efficiency, why? Because there is no competition from AMD, instead they focus on pumping out sub standard apu's to stay a float. I don't knock them for this business practice as most people want to save as much money as possible but to try and think you are correct is laughable, both companies have a history of not being quite so honest with their figures, if you had been building PC's for 20+ years like I have you would know this. There is no debate I'm afraid ... so NO to you. In life when there are 2 competitors 1 is always going to be better, face facts ... Intel are better nowadays, not 10 years ago, AMD ruled, but now Intel is better. You seem like a butthurt AMD fanboi, like I said in my original post, if you make informed purchases then you will never be butt hurt enough to make the comment you did.

    • @WarsunGames
      @WarsunGames 9 лет назад

      I will make this clear.That argument.That has been said over an over again.That in single core performance was 2 Years ago.BEFORE AMD had a refresh.All the new FX and APU out perform Intel`s new processors.There aren't any that out perform the AMD new series.In any general Single performance test.An you misunderstand what Intel did.
      Intel data blocked their processors an slowed down the timing.Which is why in programs there are issues.The processors are designed to limit how much data comes through them.With the limit of data it seems like you get more FPS but instead your graphics card has less work to do.You are not getting better performance.You can state the argument that this is why you need less GHz.The truth is.this method of delayed data prevent data from getting through fast enough.That's why your GHz are so low now.Not only that.But this is also a major issue when in games or other programs.You will think your getting faster compression.Just to see that compression causes errors in data transfers.(Mind you this does not mean it do it quickly depending on what language the file is being converted.)But that data comes out corrupted almost every time you have large files an they need to refresh.
      Intel`s Architecture?I just explained it.It is so poorly designed it causes problems.Intel has not learned a thing.They just used the same cores an just made them function to a higher degree which still presents programs.Nothings changed.There architecture is garbage.Running temperatures of 70c to 100c sending off alarms an shortening the life span of the latest processors to only a year or maybe a year and a half.Even Hardware salesmen fear selling these desktop ovens!An are fearful of building these Desktops for people in general.
      Who told you that lie about efficiency?None of the processors run at that level of voltage.They run hot at 70c anyone testing this has found the voltage to go over 461 watts.So your 85watt processors in fact run around 400watts. BRB again.

    I know it's one year later, but a lot of this was simply never true and until AMD updates there CPU, the only thing I'd recommend are budget APUs for mini ITX and HTPC builds. Clock for Clock Intel's builds have faster single-threaded performance. With Skylake the distance is even farther than it was before. Take a look at even the FX 8320 vs an i3 Skylake. It gets beat across the board and even mostly on encoding. I wish I could recommend AMD's CPUs, but I just can't at this point in time.

    • @WarsunGames
      @WarsunGames 8 лет назад +1

      +TopTenGamer First off No Intels faster single cores are compared to older processors.Or had you not noticed that?Second How many programs do you know run off a single thread?Exactly.If you want to do low end stuff.Sure go Intel.All the power to you.But if you want to do intense processing.Stop buy an pick up an AMD Processor.

    • @Toptengamer
      @Toptengamer 8 лет назад +3

      Intense processing? Look I don't drink the blue cool-aid... in Fact, I want AMD to succeed - But, Have you seen any benchmarking results as of late? Take a look at how the i3-6100 does against the FX 8320e's EVERY benchmark www.techspot.com/review/1087-best-value-desktop-cpu/ so yes, the hyperthreading of the Skylake i3 is more "intense" than AMD's "8-core (arguably 4-core) processor

    • @Leland4783
      @Leland4783 8 лет назад +1

      +Infostack tells us that amd is about to have by far the cheapest chip with hyperthreading. even better if they put it across the entire fx line. the technology is cheaper. however i love both but amd hooked me harder sorry. still both companies are more worried about squeezing as much out of these chips as possible. howeverlike i said. amd hooked me. the apu is one of the biggest advancements in cpus in a while. and on the graphics side tresfx and hbm. they may not be the best of the best however they do make some of the most substantial advancements. dont forget x86=amd

    • @WarsunGames
      @WarsunGames 8 лет назад

      ***** I honestly have no idea what your talking about.From the beginning.When it comes to price.Intel does not know what the word competitive prices means.So anything based on wallet combined with the word Intel makes no sense.Whoever prices Intel products is a money is clearly a madman.
      How much is an Intel Xeon E5-2687W V2 at 3.4 GHz?An how much is an AMD FX 9590 at 5.1 GHz?The Zen design an Hyperthreading were BOTH created by AMD.AMD threw the design away because it did not increase performance.Intel picked it up an went with it with AMD's signed licensing.The design is an AMD Original design.Not Intel.So i don't know where you got that info from.

    • @WarsunGames
      @WarsunGames 8 лет назад

      *****
      Wow.OK First off.I say what i want to say.You don't have to be a little crybaby about what information helps you understand something.If you don't want me to correct what you say.Stop mispronouncing or giving vague descriptions of thing.
      Because you are comparing low end to high end or 3 years ago.So i had to correct your mistakes.
      Also I used the Xeon to play games.I had been for 4 years back when i had my old one.An yeah the Cool the fuck off tells me you are the one getting angry.Not me.I am here to edjucate.
      Dual cores are obsolete an have been for years.Since the first AMD Quad core back in 2001.The industry should have started focusing more on 4 cores back then.Intel failed to do this.Support of 2core computing or gaming is done by the least acknowledged people.This whole a single core our performs bla bla bla.Look.If that is the cause then get a Celeron processor.An talk about how great that is.Other than that.
      People want quality an performance.You cannot by any means get that from a dual core.You need at least a quad core.An after that.You will see the need for a 6 core.Then see the need for a 8 core.An then you will be settled.Because the Industry has not produced hardware that uses all 8 cores.Just 6 an you have space to breath.So i am gonna just crap all over that comment of yours.
      Prices.OK.Clearly you don't know.Spending more money on something you do not understand is a bad idea.Just because someone prices something higher does not make it better.This is why people use computers to do RESEARCH.I have to put that in bold.RESEARCH on products before purchase.Its simple.When a person comes up with a version of Fallout 4 does not mean someone who sells you an different one for 100 bucks more is better.They are the same product.You know what.Ask your grand parents.Not the internet on the value of a dollar.They may be able to help better.
      OK if you think that about AMD.You are sadly mistaken.Instead of listening to other people an being their bitch.Why don't you try it yourself an try not to shit all over it while doing so.I know it will be hard for you.You being a fan of a company and all.But people like me.Who only care about truth an facts.Honestly can give enough of a shit about other peoples feelings.You lie an spread lies? We hate you.You tell the truth? We like you.That simple.

    For me, best bang for my buck is always with AMD. Cpu's and motherboards cost much less. Yeah, Intel will win in benchmarks but in my world (video editing) AMD never lets me down. The way I see it is like this: If I render a 5 minute HD video and Intel beats the AMD by say.... 20 seconds, Yeah, it beat my AMD but shit, I also paid $100 less, that 20 seconds doesn't justify the higher price tag to me.

  • @Em0killer13

    You have no clue what you're talking about. Firstly, doesn't matter if your cpu hits 10GHZ, if a 3GHZ intel cpu is faster than your 5ghz amd cpu....what's the point? A high frequency does not mean better performance. Secondly, K processors from intel are not the only ones that are overclockable...all processors are overclockable, the difference is that K processors have the Multiplier unlocked in the bios which allows for easier overclocking. iGPU?.....Intel HD graphics....Fact is the "apu" market is obsolete....the concept is ignorant because if you truthfully need that graphical processing power, I can guarantee it'll be more effective to split the budget between a CPU and a DEDICATED card. AMD died soon as Hypertheading got implemented.....Even back in the LGA775 days they were getting stomped by the Q6600's....heck I grabbed my E6750 over the bullshit 3.2ghz black edition because I already knew that clock for clock it couldn't hold up......Your video is filled with misinformation.

      dedicated gpu market dying?...are you insane?..... the whole point is that the market is directed at Media systems, Workstations and mostly Gamers. For the same reason because that market is directed towards people who need that power, the people who dont need that power would fall into the niche of . Which in itself is reDONCULOUS. Because the only people who would actually want an APU would have to build a system from scratch or buy a system prebuilt in which case most of the time they dont give a fuck, And for those who would build a system from scratch and want to go for an APU would merely be enthusiasts of the APUs or somehow find some purpose for them. There is a good reason intel is crushing AMD and ati is doing so bad and has been since the fall of the 4770. Bad marketing, Innovations of little use to consumers (IE : R9 295x2 which is great from a technological standpoint but makes no fucking sense for 99.999999% of people for reasons other than the price tag) And finally, REBRANDING REBRANDING REBRANDING. You should really keep up with news.Those benchmarks are designed to slow down AMD performance an even try to correct the processors input data to set it as GenuinIntel.You can't trust anything from Futuremark or Cinebench.They are not accurate test.What graphics card was used?What was the time from beginning of the test to the end?Which was fastest to finish it's workload?If you cant answer these questions then you cant get correct information.

    • @DifferentKindOfDrum

      WarsunGames What news? Give me a break. AMD CPUs suck. Quite telling me this conspiracy that benchmark utilities favor Intel. Go to passmark bus if you don't believe me. There isn't one AMD CPU that even remotely phones close to any Intel CPU. Not one. CINEBENCH favors multicore CPUs; it doesn't matter as to whether or not the CPU is AMD or Intel. If AMD can't make a decent product then they are a waste of my money. Like really, you can't trust CINEBENCH. Hahaha. Wake up man. My 4960x would absolutely destroy all AMD CPUs our there unless your running some crazy Opteron server unit. Now I am switching over to Xeon. Sorry to say it... But Intel runs the show.

      Forde3654Eire Each has their pluses and minuses. Over all they are of equal quality. With each release one will pull ahead of the other but that only lasts for a few short months. Normally, which you should choose is more dependent on the state of the market at the time you are shopping than anything else.
      Also I would like to say that I find it somewhat humorous that people are arguing about the CURRENT validity of statements made on the subject a year ago. When you consider how much the industry changes from month to month, that is like someone today taking issue with someone's opinion in 1780 that the Kentucky Rifle is the best hunting rifle ever created. What was, was. What is, is and it probably won't be is next year.

      Incorrect price isn't everything. You can get an intel core that least you a while and an AMD that last half the intel's while so you are only spending more money and decent processing AMD processors while intel will last you for a long time before getting bad

  • @GarethPW
    @GarethPW 8 лет назад +6

    I like AMD as a company, but - for the most part - this video is simply wrong. AMD processors are not even close to modern Intel equivalents. Zen has me excited. But, until we see it released, AMD isn't really an option if you want a decent CPU. I'll address the points made in this video below.
    1. Unfortunately, overclocking produces extra heat and causes chips to draw more power. With the efficiency and IPC Intel are currently offering, it makes no sense to buy an AMD chip so that you can overclock it to make it comparable to that of Intel. Sure, AMD processors _are_ more overclockable, but is that really a selling point?
    2. Actually, Intel chips are now considered superior in terms of single-threaded _and_ multi-threaded workloads. Choosing AMD isn't a benefit for either.
    3. AMD's APUs are certainly better than Intel's CPU+iGPUs in terms of graphics, but I'll reiterate: AMD isn't beneficial for single-threaded or multi-threaded workloads. I wouldn't say this makes AMD "better;" I'd say it balances the competition somewhat. You're right that Mantle (and now Vulkan) help with this, however.
    4. Price is the only benefit AMD has over Intel currently. Let's hope Zen changes this.

      +Michaël “deasy” Colignon I'm by no means an expert, I've just got into the world of PC's for a real short time, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought AMD's architecture was behind causing their chips to be by far inferior to Intel's on single threaded performance which is very important for video editing. At least that's what I here a lot of people rambling on about...

    • @MrDesillu
      @MrDesillu 8 лет назад

      I don't know about the use of cpu power in video editing, i don't even know if it's monothreaded. What i know is that in multithreading (like video encoding) the 6600 last intel arch is still behind amd old arch(lol by 2% behind with x264 and 0.5% in x265 but it's a shame it's not above amd ).

    Well AMD has the record for highest OC. They kneaded to disable all but two cores and cool the chip with liquid helium to achieve it. When it comes to the real world Intels chips are actually better at overclocking due to the lower TDP.
    Also when it come to multi threaded apps intels quad core hyper threaded chips out preform AMD's 8 core ( four full and four half core ) chips.
    The only reason to go with AMD is the low cost.

    • @bluefoxtv1566
      @bluefoxtv1566 9 лет назад

      ***** But consumers can afford intels chips. If they couldn't intel would not charge as much as they do.
      Intel know's precisely what they are doing with there pricing and that's why they turn a profit. Unlike AMD who despite having both consoles and a GPU line are still in the hole 2 billion.

      They are not the same.AMD is a whole different type of set up.You need to learn what you can do with it before just installing an running it.APU work off memory.You can just throw it into a system.You need efficient ram by what the box you bough it says an you need to know if you can adjust memory on the North Bridge to get performance.Without these functions you really cant experience what your system can do.

      As WarsunGames said, you need to plan before you buy. You could greatly increase the performance by choosing faster ram and balancing it out among your ram slots to take advantage of multichannel ram. Basically, if you're stupid or you just want a system that works, Intel is what you want. If you're willing to think and plan, AMD is more cost-effective. And have you taken into account that the CPU frequency is changes based on the load on the CPU? I OCed an AMD Athlon 64 3K+ to 2.8GHz but it didn't stay that way.

  • @D4inJPN
    @D4inJPN 10 лет назад +3

    AMD has more cores, Intel has faster cores. Until games start utilizing more cores Intel will almost always beat AMD equivalent flagship CPU's in performance. Look at it like this. AMD is able to read a book fast, but Intel can read two different parts of the book at the same time at competitive speeds. Buying an AMD with 8 cores is pointless if your not playing a game or using an application that utilizes them. It's like having 2 GTX 780ti's in SLI running on single monitor 1080p. Yes its powerful but its not really practical or efficient.

      +hartsickdisciple That is becouse games don`t utilize multi cores properly atm. However, thanks to AMD`s Mantle Microsoft decided to make DirectX12 which almost certainly becomes popular and replaces DirectX11. And DirectX12 will have multi core support.
      Look at DirectX12 and DirectX11 benchmarks, in DirectX11 AMD is lacking behind, but in DirectX12 AMD is equal to others. But that is pure perfomance, lets remember that AMD often has better price to perfomance ratio. (note, i am not sure about that last part, it has been awhile when i checked that)

    Where are you getting your infos from. The 4 core 4790K outperforms the 8 core 9590 in multi threaded applications too. Battlefield will run on higher FPS and you can overclock your 9590 to 5ghz but it will have less performance than an out of the box 4790k. The I7 has 3 times the power per watt and that saves me my 100 euro in a year (15.09 pt/W vs 4.99 pt/W). The 4790K has much lower typical power consumption 71.5W vs 178.75W. I don't know were you guys come from and how much your electricity cost but the 4970K is cheaper for me in the long run. I only have a 4770k but its better than any CPU AMD has. Plus its running at 800mhz right now saving me more money. So in the end Intel is cheaper. Even if battlefield ran better on the 8core amd its only game and every other game would run far better. I don't give a fuck that the 4790 is 9 months younger. For both of these cpus you will need a GPU that doesn't bottleneck them.

    The problem with amd is that it costs less to buy but costs more over time. AMD:s significantly higher TDP will burn though the most coolers. You can't go aircooled with AMD:s top tier CPU:s.
    And if we compare in the same pricerange: amd-8350 and Intel Core i5 4690k. If we check out the performance per watt ratio the AMD one has a ratio of 4.93 p/w while the intel smacks the fuck out of AMD with a ratio of 13 p/w.
    And price per dollar wise intel wins that one too with 6,6/10 while AMD got 6,4/10.
