I spent so much of my childhood convinced that ALL twins were identical regardless of sex because in kindergarten there was a set of fraternal twins (boy and girl) in my class and their features were very similar (same hair/eye color etc) and they told everyone they were identical. It wasn't until like middle school biology and learning about reproduction that I realized they were wrong.

I agree. Genuinely some of the most mature religious conversations i've seen on screen. I have read so many Christian books and movies where either atheists are treated as dumb and/or evil. And then so many where the author is just fuming about how dumb atheism is and that Christianity is so obviously the one true way.
20 min into the video: yeah so chicken girls is a pretty chill drama it's mostly dancing and boy drama 1 hr 20 min into the video: and here's the extended family tree and everyone's connections to the mob. also there are vampires.
I-…im still in the first ten minutes and i had watched like two (?) or so seasons of this when i was 12 and then grew tired of it because it wasn’t that good. This out of context is hilarious
the extremely mild/lowkey actor playing the most half-hearted theatre kid representation is the funniest thing in the world to me. i want him to get his own brat tv series.
The kid that said the water fountains were laced with “A. D. H. D….Med. I. Ca. Tion” was literally the funniest thing in the world to me and I would watch a show about just him 😂
"why are these women so little" is genuinely the funniest thing i've seen in a show recently, so good on chicken girls for making me laugh so hard i woke up my cat from another room 32:59
i am breaking my silence and leaving my first ever youtube comment because the silas/vincent switcheroo is literally word for word don draper's backstory from mad men. like not one singular detail was changed and i'm SCREAMING
i'm only 5 minutes in but this video being how i learn that david blum is the one who coined the phrase "brat pack" shook me to my core considering i know david's wife... who is terri minsky... the creator of lizzie mcguire... who also created the disney channel show andi mack... andi mack was produced by michelle manning, who also produced the breakfast club and sixteen candles... and some of the andi mack cast members that i know also appeared in brat tv shows and were close friends with the actors on that channel... what in the overlapping lore
At first I was like "oh wow what a crazy series of coincidences" but I've just remembered how absolutely jam-packed the entire industry is with nepo babies
I had aged out of BratTV's intended age demographic by the time Chicken Girls became popular, but this entire video reminded me of AwesomenessTV. They are like a legitimate production company now? They literally produced the Netflix Jenny Han adaptations. I wonder what happened to a lot of those channels in the mid-2010s which primarily used influencer casting.
i dont think your book was stolen from the library! libraries regularly cull their collection and sometimes those books end up being sold (and resold) with the stickers still on :)
I would like to personally apologize to all the Radio Rebels for haphazardly mentioning Chicken Girls to Ashley in the twitch chat 😭 it was a great crime against humanity….
@@mark-breen I guess at times like this it is important remember that we are all In this together, we are a girl gang like birds of a feather (I will pay for my crimes)
I do have to say regarding the standards for 13 year old competitive dance, dance moms is much closer to reality than you would think talent wise. My sister is 18 now but has competitively danced since she was like 9 or 10 and it’s kinda insane how good those kids are lol
Obsessed with the fact that the whole Vincent Patterson dog tag replaced identity and starting a successful company thing from the Chicken Girls book is literally the exacted lifted backstory of Don Draper in Mad Men 💀
I never did the flour baby thing at school but another science class in my year had biscuit babies. The main challenge was not eating your baby before the project was over.
Wait bc we did this we got given gingerbread cookies and just had to keep them alive for a week… the problem is I have this awful feel in mine is still in my bedroom at home.. this project was done in 2015
Oh god this gives me flashbacks to primary school when there was a group of 'cool girls' (we were like 11) who knew everything about this show, the dance they do, the characters, the actors. They were always talking about which child influencer was dating which and I had no idea what was going on. Weird to finally see THIS is what they were talking about.
I was actually a brataley fan during this Brat era and during the whole ‘cheating’ scandal and Jules had actually confirmed that she had dated Hayden and he did cheat on her (this is like grained in my brain because of how much attention was on it)
My younger sister was obsessed with all of these shows back when they first came out. This video unearthed so many memories I hadn’t thought about it years.
That says a lot more about the Nancy Drew plots than it says about the ghost writers tbh. And actually now that you mention it though. There's been enough blatant ripoffs of plots from other media that I wouldn't even be surprised if this was the exact actual plot of a real actual Nancy Drew book
Ok, at this point you NEED to do a video on Dance Academy. It is an Australian teen show about a dance school. It has ups and downs, and totally worth the weekend binge😅❤❤❤
Was gonna say this. I've bought several books off Amazon that were sold by libraries themselves and came with all their library stamps and stickers. If you check the seller while looking at "used" it'll usually say something like "friends of the [name] public library".
It was originally called Brat then later changed to Brat tv. I watched Brat since the beginning because of Jules. My favorite underrated show was “A girl named JO” it was really good and deserved so much spotlight
I've never heard of her until Group Chat and then Side Hustle which, as a late 20something expecting the bare minimum of modern Nick shows, was actually one of the best Nick shows in a long time! But because they care about their cashcows more than anything else, like most basic cable networks struggling to compete with streaming anyway, it got cancelled without a resolution of the plot. And I'm still not over it. Meanwhile, Brat TV has the bigger advantage as an independent studio making their own series without the threat of cancellation. And yet, they do the bare minimum of earning it.
There was a german book and movie series called "The wild chicks" in the early 2000s. Five girls who grew up together, living through typical girlhood problems. It was a huge success. Maybe that is, where the inspiration for name comes from?
This video is actually VERY relevant to me. I vividly remember sneak watching the Chicken Girls in the middle of the night on my ipod touch in middle school.
Did anyone else’s school have electronic realistic babies instead of flour babies…? They were horrifying and recorded things like if you fed it, if you were rough with it, etc 😂
Why did I think this was a farm-based child middle school drama 😂 like some small town farm girls with dreams of being dance stars but still needing to balance their chores with the animals lol
1:26:28 omg I remember back when Mani first came out, when they were going through babysitters there was a scene where one of the babysitters was all like “And that’s why I would be a great fit for your daughter 😊” then she hits her vape right in front of them, but it’s now been removed
Very surprised that she didn’t talk about the s10 chicken girl’s connection to both Attaway general’s newest season and the show Juniors😭 that whole thing is CRAZY
@@sita9071 the last episode of s4 was likeeeee 6 months ago I think? WILD season btw highly recommend both that and s1 of juniors. It’s like watching things happen from two different POVs
@@shminerva ah ok. I’m not in the target demographic for these shows at all. I tried to get into them, but it felt too weird. Glad that they are accessible for the kids today though.
probably because nobody actually likes season 10. it feels like its own show that was rewritten to be chicken girls for some reason (maybe due to a staff or actor revolt that caused them to not film the original chicken girls season 10)
No one actually talks about how good of an actress Hayley is! I was always amazed I mean maybe that’s because everyone else was no good but she has always just looked really comfortable and her voice never changes, which is what a lot of the other actors do, they change their voice to try act better
it's so weird seeing this whole universe be perceived by other people. i grew up watching bratayley, which is the family channel jules and hayley leblanc's mom used to have. i was around the same age their older brother was at the time, and my family wasn't very well off at the time, so i lived vicariously through them. when i saw the girls were staring in their shows, of course i was gonna watch them. add to that the cast of dance moms that's also in the shows and i was hooked. now i'm in my early 20s and ridiculously invested in this kids show universe because i just happened to get roped in it when i was a kid and now i can't stop. it's such a guilty pleasure that i just can't talk to anyone about, because how do i explain how i even found out about it?? as a side note, because the brat channel appeared around the same time jules and hayley started acting and they were the leads in a bunch of shows there, i genuinely thought that the channel was partialy owned by their parents, hence the name brat. like, from bratayley, their youtube channel. this is what i get for being a kid and taking things at face value lmao, i had no idea why it was called brat. it makes so much sense now.
my school did the baby thing but instead of flour sacks it was those hyper realistic baby dolls. it was an optional class so not everyone took it, but we all knew when the project started because people would forget their babies all over the school so you go to the bathroom and BAM hyper realistic crying baby doll was forgotten in the stall. people would also put the dolls in their backpacks with their heads sticking out which was… uncanny
Fun fact many of the adult actors at least in the earlier shows/seasons are just the parents of the kid actors. The parents were definitely just hanging out on set already to watch the kids and got asked to read a couple lines. Im sure that has something to do with the short screen times and basically nonexistent adult characters.
Once my nephews found out I watched RUclips but not Mr Beast. They were horrified. I told them I didn't know what was in the zeitgeist of tweens on RUclips (which they did not understand nor care to understand as they were still traumatized that I didn't know Mr Beast). All of Ashley's content makes me realize I missed the internet. I never know anything. I mean I knew Disney channel stars were on Danimals commercials but that's all folks. Might as well be Tig Notaro.
Have I heard of the Chicken Girls? No. Am I going to watch a 2 hour video about it? Hell yes. Love your new hair too, thanks for giving me a delight of a video to watch after work 🥰
I will give The Chicken Girls/Brat TV this much: They put more effort in their period scenes on a shoestring budget than some big-budget productions I've seen. Still community theater-esque, but trust me, I've seen lazier. I went to high school from 2003-2007. We didn't do egg-, flour-, or sugar-babies for Healthful Living (similar to Home Ec). However, for extra credit, some students were given crying baby dolls. They were equipped with devices which counted whenever the dolls were "neglected" (i.e. left "crying" for too long without intervention). Other teachers were pissed because students had to leave classrooms to take care of their "babies."
The “Rhyme and the Runaway Twin” was most likely “ethically sourced” because sometimes when a library has too many of one book or if the book is not the most relevant or popular, libraries will have book sales giving away their books. I have a couple of books I acquired this way with the sticker still on the spine and back. The book you received most likely was acquired legally so there’s no need for you to have a guilty conscience over it lol
58:24 my library would do library book sales all the time and sell books they had too many copies of or were old. So maybe that's what happened since the barcode on the back is slashed.
im so glad someone made a deepdive video on this omg.. brat was somewhat popular when i was in middle school (mostly 2017) and one of my friends at the time was obsessed with chicken girls and made me and other friends watch it 😭 i knew it was horrible back then so it's wild to see someone talking about the insanity of it now.
I work at a library and that is almost definitely a weeded book! When a book doesnt circulate it gets discarded and we put a line through the barcode in sharpie. It would usually damage the book to try to remove the stickers. So you're all good!!
I’d also like to point out by the point of the chicken girls movie Jules and Hayden had broken up already which just made it so awkward for those poor kids!
I've never seen or even heard of any of the Brat media before this video but now I'm 100% convinced that the Millwood of this show is the very same Millwood where the next-gen PLL girlies live. I Marlene Cinematic Universe
Fun Fact: There's a german childrens/teen book series called "the wild chickens", about a group of girls calling themselves "Wild chickens" (which could probably be translated to chicken girls as well...) because one of them actually owns chickens...it's a coming of age/middle school story, that was verry popular for kids growing up around 2000-2010, the books are by Cornelia Funke (who also worked on the book for Guillermo del Torros pans labyrinth) and also got adpted into three movies (I believe...) the point I'm going for is that my german ass was waiting for the connection to my childhood the whole time...
"I'm too busy watching watching 3 hour deepdives on TV Shows I've never watched" I feel so called out lmao I love Billiam's super long videos going over the story and BTS of Lost and I've never even seen the show
i think you're fine with the library book! libraries have to get rid of material all the time and often will donate them to used books services, and usually the sharpie through the barcode means it's not in the system anymore
To be fair, the library book may have been sold by the library if it wasn't checked out frequently enough. The crossed out bar code is something some libraries do when they do their sales. The libraries in my area tend to have biannual sales of books, sometimes it's like fill a bag for $10.
Weird fact that I just learned about Ashley Furniture. Superior Fresh, the company with the largest aquaponics farm in the world, only exists due to money from Ashley Furniture. It's owned by the wife of the billionaire inheritor/CEO of Ashley Furniture.
I used to watch all the brat shows when I was younger. This video is bringing back that nostalgia and I didn't realise how cringe the shows truly were.
has anyone ever actually attended a school where a group of kids that have long since graduated are still discussed by current students? Or was I just the sad and quiet enby and didn’t notice clique politics? Either way this video was a hell of a trip, go chicken girl go🎉
It happened in my high school if those kids did something notable (to children). Like we remembered the name of the kid who got drunk at lunch and crashed his friends car into a tree in the front lawn of my school and then it caught on fire lol
No, my highschool didn't have that. No one cared that much + we didn't really hang out with people from grades above ours so the stories that circled around were mostly about what people from our year did the previous friday lol
i went to a very old and small private school in the downtown of my city and because it was so small and the alumni network is v active, groups of students kept their “icon” label for like decades after they had left the school
47:26 That whole drama I didn't get when I was reading the comments of the movie until I saw a RUclips channel named Snow. Probably changed the name or deleted the videos but basically, a recap was Hayden dated Kenzie or was talking until he made a music video with Jules (Annie at that time). Then after the music video asked her to be on the channel for Chicken Girls people started shipping them, and Hayden and Kenzie broke up. Then Hayden and Jules were dating, but some time before the movie premiere Jules posted on Instagram how they were dating because they never confirmed it, and he cheated. The girl everyone assumed was Kenzie because Hayden and Kenzie were hanging out again. This movie felt awkward after all that drama and Jules made one or two songs about it. I'm not entirely accurate because this is all 2018 stuff but videos should appear on RUclips or Instagram.
58:35 based off the fact that the bar code has been blacked out, I’d wager it was actually removed from circulation by the librarian and probably sold off in a book sale. Children’s books tend to have a shorter shelf life (pun intended) than adult fiction and if the library had multiple copies at any point it’s even more likely.
Our school had baby dolls with computers in them that made them cry and fuss and also recorded how long they cried/if you dropped them. You had to take them home for the whole weekend.
as someone who grew up watching the original chicken girls cast, i literally will not allow any slander against the original 6 seasons, yes they may be cringey and weird, but 12 year old me loved it and i still do to this day; i stopped watching since the original cast left, but i can speak on my behalf that the og chicken girls were a staple in my childhood
i clicked not knowing how you could make a 2 hr vid on the chicken girls interesting, and yet i could easily watch hours more. Ashley you are a visionary. thank u.
- the scream that left me when i saw this notification, like you have no idea how long i've waited for someone to cover this. as someone who witnessed all that brat tv had to offer because my little sisters were obsessed from its start (2017) to its peak (according to me - 2019), and nothing since i have been dying to see someone cover this insanity. and I'm not kidding when i say i watched it all, like more than my little sisters that were obsessed, i am a completionistand i needed to know the lore - also the fact that right above this notification was the chicken girls season 11 trailer (yes i'm still subscribed even if i haven't watched it since 2019) - also i have to say, for most of the people on brat, that weren't formerly on disney or nick, whatever role they had was literally my first time hearing about any of them, i wish i never learned about tyler holder (holden?) - "rooney forrester pranked me. i hate rooney forrester. wait? am i in love with rooney forrester?" and "are you here to do the make out?" the amount of time my sisters and i used to quote this was insane, like never to be topped - 57:57 sometimes librabies get rid of old books to free space for new ones, i have a bunch of old library books i got from public library garage sales and stuff, the stickers don't mean it's stolen, especially if the thing is sharpied like that, they would only do that if they were getting rid of it - 1:04:56 not the first time in the brat universe that a bad guy got away scot free (henry roach i am looking at you) - 1:23:21 i was gonna say, you could watch like only the shows set in attaway and never realize that canonically in this universe magic and supernatural stuff exists in millwood at the same time lmao - 1:24:09 i'm sorry but when we found out that henry was jimmy roach, that was the craziest plot twist, peak brat tv - 1:29:31 i couldn't even give you context for this, genuinely i do not remember what happened lmao, and the context probably wouldn't do anythig lmao - i am telling you the era of a girl named joe s2-3, crown lake s1-2, chicken girl s4, total eclipse s3-4 (okay less on that, s4 was pretty terrible), red ruby and zoe valentine (actually zoe valentine is in its own league), as well asthe last 2 movies, were peak brat, they achieved the best quality when you look at it in their standards (ie pretty low). it was the time when most of their actors had been there for a long time, and got comfortable in front of a camera, so it felt less cringe, or they hired actual actors from disney or nickelodeon shows, so the acting became bearable for the most part. plus they upped their production value, and started caring about the universe. they connected characters across shows (ie all shows set in attaway could have a character like rhyme or rooney show up as a guest spot, i'm pretty sure rooney was in like 5 shows). they made sets that made sense, before you could have 3 shows set in the same school with different sets, but they made it so it was all clearly one school. they started caring about the stories, i remember there was a week where there was a connected storyline between a girl named jo, crown lake and something else, where you had to watch all the episodes to understand the full history of a character, it was baffling to me that a channel like brat tv that started so poorly, got to a point where it could do that. and yeah, after they all ended, it was like their endgame, this thing they had been working on for a year had like peaked, and so now they entered a new phase, with new shows, and new actors that did not have any training and were really bad. from the snippets i saw anyway, i stopped watching cuz i was never the target audience lmao and also zoey valentine ended and that was the highest quality they could ever hope to achieve, it was not worth my time anymore. but seriously if anyone is like let me check it out, genuinely there is some good stuff if you have a high tolerence for bad. my recs are - zoey valentine, a genuinely good show that i lowkey have no criticism of, it's about a girl, zoey, who lost her sister to cancer recently, and is now going to school with all her former friends, and trying to find her place in the world, and it stars anna cathart (recently of xo kitty fame) and has genuine good representation - a girl named jo. season one is a bit rough, but like ashley said in the video, there is a real attempt to cover important topics, and there is a mystery almost every season that keeps you intrigued. it also serves to reveal a lot of the universe's lore, but that's not really relevent lmao - crown lake s1-2 specifically, i haven't seen 3. the story is a bit lackluster i suppose, but there are fun moments, and one of my favourite queer characters - red ruby, it's the vampire show! no seriously it's about a group of kids that were stuck in a mine in the 90s and turned into vampires, and with the town fracking, they escape and cause mayham. i will say, it only has one season and ends on a cliffhanger so, not great.but the theme song is an earworm. actually a lot of the music is an earworm.
Hey, I recognize you! From Keyan Carlile's videos! I've never heard of Jules Leblanc, let alone Brat TV, until Nickelodeon's Group Chat and then Side Hustle which, as a late 20something expecting the bare minimum of modern Nick shows, was actually one of the best Nick shows in a long time! But because they care about their cash cow franchises more than anything else, like most basic cable networks struggling to compete with streaming anyway, it got cancelled without a resolution to the plot. And I'm still not over it. After so many of the shows I watched not only got cancelled, but some of them are not even available to watch ANYWHERE FOR FUCKING TAX WRITE OFFS, I've been fascinated with how blessed the independent studios are. The ones that built everything from the ground up without any input from a comparatively larger studio. Throughout the 2010s, cable networks like Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network or streaming services that make their own kids shows are losing more and more respect for their continued business practices where they take other people's hard work, cancels it or worse, shelve it for years on end. And the fucking creator can't do anything about it. Meanwhile, Brat TV has the bigger advantage as an independent studio making their own series without the threat of cancellation. And it's made up of the same stuff Disney Channel or Nickelodeon would make. And I have to wonder what other independent studios are out there making G or PG projects. Maybe I'll check all the shows you recommended. Crown Lake sounds the most interesting. And also cuz I want to see Francesca Capaldi and Emily Skinner in more stuff after their Disney shows ended and I haven't seen them since. And I've kinda had crushes on them looking at their Instagrams recently. Tho, it's awkward for me because of their ages filming that show.
@@AJ-xc4qe love keyan's videos haha. i didn't know side hustle got cancelled, i never watched it, but i though tit was going well because they had a big crossover with all the other nick shows ( i only watch danger force so I'm not updated on the other ones statuses, but it does suck when they get canceled on a cliffhanger, like at least end it) and i haven't kept updated with brat, but they did reach a level at one point where it was comparable to disney/nick, mainly because they had disney/nick actors lmao so like you said interesting to see where they can go. also because they're not afraid of having actual representations of all types, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, they're very good at having casual representation, even if the shows are bad sometimes lmao, like it's a good thing. and yeah francesca and emily are the reason i watched crown lake too. emily is in total eclipse also but i think she does a better job in crown lake, or rather i like her character better there. and yeah, it's weird to me too, i was watching alex meyers' dog with a blog video and she made a comment about how hot francesca was now, and i was like ew that's a child, completely forgetting that she is a grown woman lmao. if you do watch crown lake, there is this thing called the wall, whenever they show it, pause and read what it says, because its so funny to catch things that the actors clearly wrote, like i def saw a bts reference there and it's really funny in context

Libraries often discard books that don't get read very often to make space. It's possible the library donated it in some fashion and it ended up back on the used book market.

"why are these women so little" is genuinely the funniest thing i've seen in a show recently, so good on chicken girls for making me laugh so hard i woke up my cat from another room
32:59
same, it completely went over my head when i watched it on my own, but it actually got an audible laugh out of me. good job brat.
god, Ellie singing to her friend unprompted while she's having an identity crisis became one of my fave scenes of all time
i am breaking my silence and leaving my first ever youtube comment because the silas/vincent switcheroo is literally word for word don draper's backstory from mad men. like not one singular detail was changed and i'm SCREAMING
funnily enough something similar happened on ncis hawaii
Basically Principal Skinner's backstory too lol
lmao I'm so glad someone else noticed
i'm only 5 minutes in but this video being how i learn that david blum is the one who coined the phrase "brat pack" shook me to my core considering i know david's wife... who is terri minsky... the creator of lizzie mcguire... who also created the disney channel show andi mack... andi mack was produced by michelle manning, who also produced the breakfast club and sixteen candles... and some of the andi mack cast members that i know also appeared in brat tv shows and were close friends with the actors on that channel... what in the overlapping lore
this comment adds a great layer of extra depth
At first I was like "oh wow what a crazy series of coincidences" but I've just remembered how absolutely jam-packed the entire industry is with nepo babies
I had aged out of BratTV's intended age demographic by the time Chicken Girls became popular, but this entire video reminded me of AwesomenessTV. They are like a legitimate production company now? They literally produced the Netflix Jenny Han adaptations. I wonder what happened to a lot of those channels in the mid-2010s which primarily used influencer casting.
So glad you said this bc every time I watch a movie from them I think of RUclips and I convince myself is not the same company 😂
yeah they made Trinkets, which isnt a bad show
imagine changing your name for sneaky professional reasons and the name you choose is Robin Robins
i dont think your book was stolen from the library! libraries regularly cull their collection and sometimes those books end up being sold (and resold) with the stickers still on :)
I had this thought as well, although usually when that happens there'll be a stamp or sticker somewhere on there that says "withdrawn" or similar
the line through the barcode is always a good sign
Came here to say this !!! My family buys a lot from thrift books and they have a lot of books like this
Your ad placements are top tier. Specifically enjoyed when it cut to an ad after hearing “water fountains are laced with adhd medication”
Fell asleep at chicken girls season one and woke up at “evil uncle JUMPS out of the ferris wheel”

I would like to personally apologize to all the Radio Rebels for haphazardly mentioning Chicken Girls to Ashley in the twitch chat 😭 it was a great crime against humanity….

I do have to say regarding the standards for 13 year old competitive dance, dance moms is much closer to reality than you would think talent wise. My sister is 18 now but has competitively danced since she was like 9 or 10 and it’s kinda insane how good those kids are lol
"Formerly blue haired freak" 😭
I’m so excited to finally be able to make this comment- I’ve never once heard of the Chicken Girls but I’m absolutely here for the deep dive

Shout out to the fellow little stinkers in the crowd

I was actually a brataley fan during this Brat era and during the whole ‘cheating’ scandal and Jules had actually confirmed that she had dated Hayden and he did cheat on her (this is like grained in my brain because of how much attention was on it)
yes omg and the bowling vlog with all the tension

My younger sister was obsessed with all of these shows back when they first came out. This video unearthed so many memories I hadn’t thought about it years.

This video was the exact amount of time it took me to make the dough, roll out, cut out and bake two batches of sugar cookies. Thank you.
Honestly the plot of the chicken girls book sounds like it could be a nancy drew novel so kudos to those ghost writers
That says a lot more about the Nancy Drew plots than it says about the ghost writers tbh. And actually now that you mention it though. There's been enough blatant ripoffs of plots from other media that I wouldn't even be surprised if this was the exact actual plot of a real actual Nancy Drew book
honestly, the lore is legendary. i love how deep it goes without getting absolutely riverdale.

If it makes you feel better sometimes libraries sell off books that don't get checked out a lot to raise extra money so it could be that 😅
Was gonna say this.
My favorite underrated show was “A girl named JO” it was really good and deserved so much spotlight
does anyone else remember that one mini series with kristen hancher? cause that’s how i found it 😭

The chicken girls is the musical of all musicals. It's every type of musical at once and yet at the same time, not one at all.
Andrew Lloyd Webber wishes he could break genres like this
Did anyone else’s school have electronic realistic babies instead of flour babies…? They were horrifying and recorded things like if you fed it, if you were rough with it, etc 😂
My middle school had the flour babies and my high school did the electronic ones.
My highschool did when my big sister went there about 12 years ago

this would've been too good for Brat TV
1:26:28 omg I remember back when Mani first came out, when they were going through babysitters there was a scene where one of the babysitters was all like “And that’s why I would be a great fit for your daughter 😊” then she hits her vape right in front of them, but it’s now been removed

THERES 10 SEASONS?
I’m excited to finally learn what all that discussion in the Twitch chat has been about
Thank you for putting up with the weeks of me spiraling
no same i am so ready -yeehawspinach :)

Hell yes. Love your new hair too, thanks for giving me a delight of a video to watch after work 🥰
oh, the boundaries this show could have broken if it had a different name
The book you received most likely was acquired legally so there’s no need for you to have a guilty conscience over it lol
i was a 12(ish) year old who was obsessed with these shows. but total eclipse was my favorite lol
The breakup happens after they already done filming s1+s2 and the movie
They broke up right before it premiered then had to awkwardly film season3 together
I've never seen or even heard of any of the Brat media before this video but now I'm 100% convinced that the Millwood of this show is the very same Millwood where the next-gen PLL girlies live. I Marlene Cinematic Universe
Chicken girls got to 10 seasons?!
I just checked and apparently they are still making episodes and about to start season 11
“Why are these women so little” IM SOBBING
Fun Fact: There's a german childrens/teen book series called "the wild chickens", about a group of girls calling themselves "Wild chickens" (which could probably be translated to chicken girls as well...) because one of them actually owns chickens...it's a coming of age/middle school story, that was verry popular for kids growing up around 2000-2010, the books are by Cornelia Funke (who also worked on the book for Guillermo del Torros pans labyrinth) and also got adpted into three movies (I believe...) the point I'm going for is that my german ass was waiting for the connection to my childhood the whole time...
"I'm too busy watching watching 3 hour deepdives on TV Shows I've never watched" I feel so called out lmao I love Billiam's super long videos going over the story and BTS of Lost and I've never even seen the show
i think you're fine with the library book! libraries have to get rid of material all the time and often will donate them to used books services, and usually the sharpie through the barcode means it's not in the system anymore
that brat pack lore was so fun and interesting, thank you ashely!
To be fair, the library book may have been sold by the library if it wasn't checked out frequently enough. The crossed out bar code is something some libraries do when they do their sales. The libraries in my area tend to have biannual sales of books, sometimes it's like fill a bag for $10.

I think its neat that Ashley takes a break from manufacturing door hardware to give us hour long videos. We´re not worthy
I did the flour baby thing in high school but it was not with partners. Glad I’m prepared for parenthood now!
has anyone ever actually attended a school where a group of kids that have long since graduated are still discussed by current students? Or was I just the sad and quiet enby and didn’t notice clique politics? Either way this video was a hell of a trip, go chicken girl go🎉
It happened in my high school if those kids did something notable (to children). Like we remembered the name of the kid who got drunk at lunch and crashed his friends car into a tree in the front lawn of my school and then it caught on fire lol
yes?? lmfaoo 😭
yes but in my case it was specifically theatre kids and those are just a whole different breed and should not be looked to as standard examples
Not the toxic gossip train! 😂😂😂
It actually makes my day when I see you've posted! Instant dopamine hit 🥰
Yes!!!! Seeing a new two hour Ashley Norton is such a gift
This video went places I was not expecting 😂 I didn’t know the chicken girls lore went so deep
Did not realize there was multigenerational lore to brat tv
Our school had baby dolls with computers in them that made them cry and fuss and also recorded how long they cried/if you dropped them. You had to take them home for the whole weekend.
The Chicken Girls was literally my childhood! I’m so glad that someone made a video on it.
as someone who grew up watching the original chicken girls cast, i literally will not allow any slander against the original 6 seasons, yes they may be cringey and weird, but 12 year old me loved it and i still do to this day; i stopped watching since the original cast left, but i can speak on my behalf that the og chicken girls were a staple in my childhood
i clicked not knowing how you could make a 2 hr vid on the chicken girls interesting, and yet i could easily watch hours more.
Ashley you are a visionary. thank u.
- the scream that left me when i saw this notification, like you have no idea how long i've waited for someone to cover this. as someone who witnessed all that brat tv had to offer because my little sisters were obsessed from its start (2017) to its peak (according to me - 2019), and nothing since i have been dying to see someone cover this insanity. and I'm not kidding when i say i watched it all, like more than my little sisters that were obsessed, i am a completionistand i needed to know the lore
- also the fact that right above this notification was the chicken girls season 11 trailer (yes i'm still subscribed even if i haven't watched it since 2019)
- also i have to say, for most of the people on brat, that weren't formerly on disney or nick, whatever role they had was literally my first time hearing about any of them, i wish i never learned about tyler holder (holden?)
- "rooney forrester pranked me. i hate rooney forrester. wait? am i in love with rooney forrester?" and "are you here to do the make out?" the amount of time my sisters and i used to quote this was insane, like never to be topped
- 57:57 sometimes librabies get rid of old books to free space for new ones, i have a bunch of old library books i got from public library garage sales and stuff, the stickers don't mean it's stolen, especially if the thing is sharpied like that, they would only do that if they were getting rid of it
- 1:04:56 not the first time in the brat universe that a bad guy got away scot free (henry roach i am looking at you)
- 1:23:21 i was gonna say, you could watch like only the shows set in attaway and never realize that canonically in this universe magic and supernatural stuff exists in millwood at the same time lmao
- 1:24:09 i'm sorry but when we found out that henry was jimmy roach, that was the craziest plot twist, peak brat tv
- 1:29:31 i couldn't even give you context for this, genuinely i do not remember what happened lmao, and the context probably wouldn't do anythig lmao
- i am telling you the era of a girl named joe s2-3, crown lake s1-2, chicken girl s4, total eclipse s3-4 (okay less on that, s4 was pretty terrible), red ruby and zoe valentine (actually zoe valentine is in its own league), as well asthe last 2 movies, were peak brat, they achieved the best quality when you look at it in their standards (ie pretty low). it was the time when most of their actors had been there for a long time, and got comfortable in front of a camera, so it felt less cringe, or they hired actual actors from disney or nickelodeon shows, so the acting became bearable for the most part. plus they upped their production value, and started caring about the universe. they connected characters across shows (ie all shows set in attaway could have a character like rhyme or rooney show up as a guest spot, i'm pretty sure rooney was in like 5 shows). they made sets that made sense, before you could have 3 shows set in the same school with different sets, but they made it so it was all clearly one school. they started caring about the stories, i remember there was a week where there was a connected storyline between a girl named jo, crown lake and something else, where you had to watch all the episodes to understand the full history of a character, it was baffling to me that a channel like brat tv that started so poorly, got to a point where it could do that. and yeah, after they all ended, it was like their endgame, this thing they had been working on for a year had like peaked, and so now they entered a new phase, with new shows, and new actors that did not have any training and were really bad. from the snippets i saw anyway, i stopped watching cuz i was never the target audience lmao and also zoey valentine ended and that was the highest quality they could ever hope to achieve, it was not worth my time anymore.
but seriously if anyone is like let me check it out, genuinely there is some good stuff if you have a high tolerence for bad. my recs are
- zoey valentine, a genuinely good show that i lowkey have no criticism of, it's about a girl, zoey, who lost her sister to cancer recently, and is now going to school with all her former friends, and trying to find her place in the world, and it stars anna cathart (recently of xo kitty fame) and has genuine good representation
- a girl named jo. season one is a bit rough, but like ashley said in the video, there is a real attempt to cover important topics, and there is a mystery almost every season that keeps you intrigued. it also serves to reveal a lot of the universe's lore, but that's not really relevent lmao
- crown lake s1-2 specifically, i haven't seen 3. the story is a bit lackluster i suppose, but there are fun moments, and one of my favourite queer characters
- red ruby, it's the vampire show! no seriously it's about a group of kids that were stuck in a mine in the 90s and turned into vampires, and with the town fracking, they escape and cause mayham. i will say, it only has one season and ends on a cliffhanger so, not great.but the theme song is an earworm. actually a lot of the music is an earworm.
@@AJ-xc4qe love keyan's videos haha. i didn't know side hustle got cancelled, i never watched it, but i though tit was going well because they had a big crossover with all the other nick shows ( i only watch danger force so I'm not updated on the other ones statuses, but it does suck when they get canceled on a cliffhanger, like at least end it)
and i haven't kept updated with brat, but they did reach a level at one point where it was comparable to disney/nick, mainly because they had disney/nick actors lmao so like you said interesting to see where they can go. also because they're not afraid of having actual representations of all types, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, they're very good at having casual representation, even if the shows are bad sometimes lmao, like it's a good thing. and yeah francesca and emily are the reason i watched crown lake too. emily is in total eclipse also but i think she does a better job in crown lake, or rather i like her character better there. and yeah, it's weird to me too, i was watching alex meyers' dog with a blog video and she made a comment about how hot francesca was now, and i was like ew that's a child, completely forgetting that she is a grown woman lmao. if you do watch crown lake, there is this thing called the wall, whenever they show it, pause and read what it says, because its so funny to catch things that the actors clearly wrote, like i def saw a bts reference there and it's really funny in context
i’m sorry but the locker slamming singing break out had me IN TEARS
56:01 the QUEEN actress asking where they’re from (attaway of course) is a regular on the lifetime channel, specifically their “the wrong” series lololol, what an icon, what a filmogtaphy
Libraries often discard books that don't get read very often to make space. It's possible the library donated it in some fashion and it ended up back on the used book market.
