That is awesome! Congratulations on getting such a beautiful guitar that plays and sounds exactly like you like. Without breaking the bank to! I don’t have any PRS guitars but it’s very obvious that their whole lineup has great guitars. Maybe some day…😢😅. Congrats dude!
Oh you're absolutely right. IT's the best SE, no doubt. I have one in the gold black burst, and it not only looks killer but sounds killer as well. I'm disappointed they didn't bring the S2 Thinline to the SE, because that one is my favorite, but the single-cut is a great guitar.
This is a little late but I love my McCarty SE singlecut… same color as the vid. Sounds great on all the pickups tapped or untapped. Looks great. Comfortable in the hands. Plays like a dream
I have that same exact guitar. I was surprised how bright blue it is in person but not a deal breaker. I can get awesome Clutch tone out of it through my Orange sc100
I have a Myers SE in Trampas green. I love the neck and the way it plays. I have a second Trampas green with EMG’s Super 77 set; 350 C in the neck and a 370 C in the bridge.
The contrast between the top and back/sides/neck is excellent. I'm about to pick up the same one next week after messing with one at Guitar Center. Slap some Bare Knuckle Silos or Polymath in there and have some fun... Or maybe the Gojira set from Dimarzio. Great review and demo track as usual Hunter 💯🤘🏻
@@donbishop6994 In a mix it won't matter that much, but that's not the point. I've produced a lot, but have been playing guitar much longer. In isolation there's a noticeable difference with various pickups and that matters when I'm playing/practicing. I don't dislike the PRS pickups, I just like to mess around with differences in sound.
@@adamstrachni played one with an orange amp and head at a store a week ago and dialed in a perfect gojira tone, slightly hotter i’d argue but that’s arbitrary. my point is if the pickups handle high output you can get damn near any tone man
I wish when they'd updated the Zach Myers that they would have switched to the 58/15 S like these have. These are great pickups. My green ZM sounds like a green BM, hey
I thought I would change out the ZM pickups but I really like them. Nice slightly hot PAFs. Try messing with the height! (Much cheaper and easier than replacing - no reason not to)
I have 4 PRS's. A SS core, a Custom 22 SE, A McCarty SE and a Dustie Waring CE. My favorite of the 4 is the CE and I bought that based on this channels review of it. I just connect with it in a way I haven't connected with any other guitar I own. The McCarty is my second favorite.
Great vid and nice tune! I will totally check one of these out one day. I was so close to purchasing but then they released the maple SE Silver Sky's and I couldn't resist. I was missing a single coil guitar in my collection so it just made more sense. I also have a SE custom 24, which I've owned for 6 years and it's been a great guitar as well. No regrets with either purchase. Maybe in a few years I'll add the SE McCarty too 🙂
I purchased the double cut away in the faded blue as well. Not only is the Front spectacular looking, the wood grain on the back and the headstock and kluson style tuners round it out perfectly. And yes the thicker neck makes playability a breeze.
I just got one of these. Not really road-tested it yet but looking forward to it. I've also got the SE Custom 24-08 which is absolutely lovely and incredibly versatile. I used to have a PRS Core/US DGT which was great and I really regret getting rid of it. I wonder how the SE McCarty compares to the SE DGT.
I got the black and gold double cut but then traded it in for the vintage sunburst. I love how the guitar feels. I have large hands and the neck feels so comfortable. 10/10
These are great. I went with the S2 McCarty 594 Thinline so I could get the Pattern Thin neck. Now if only they'd do a DGT in a S2 model. Great demo track BTW!!
Have both styles of the 594 SE. (blue singlecut and vintage sunburst double)…Outstanding guitars at this price point that I’m not afraid to take out of the house…. Enjoy your channel!
Nice demo track. I would love to see a dedicated video of your total writing, recording and mixing proces. Do you play or program bass? How do you create drumtracks. How does Jordan mix? Would be very interesting
You can’t believe the top on that, but then you see a wood library model, and you see PRS is next level. Their best tops are better than anyone else’s. I want to splurge on a wood library Paul’s guitar so bad!
Had one just like this, loved it-- was such a great guitar. Only thing I wish, is that it didn't have the stupid veneer, and would've just had the plain maple cap. I also had no use for the split coils, but that's just personal preference. What's the bar thing you've got over the strings/headstock starting about 2:25?
Are you still in touch with Thomann/Harley Benton? I've been comparing models of different years from 2020-2023, and it seems they're starting to cheap out on locking tuners, nuts, soldering wires that comes solderless from EMG, 500k pots for actives etc.
I've had the core model sc250 and hands down this plays exactly the same if not better they hit it out of the park with this 594 and I have the exact same blue one
This guitar looks and sounds soooo good. I have to admit, the first clean riff I heard took me back to the days of Creed. (IMO, that isn't a bad thing.) Thanks for the video. I really want to try one of these.
Because I have the 2021 Zach Myers (mahogany/maple cap - and in best-boy blue) - I'm kind of interested in the all mahogany version of the 594. Plus it's then easier to justify to my partner that it's "different" to the other guitars I have. Interesting that the fretboard edges aren't as rolled as other PRS's you've tried.
I really wish they included the OG McCarty layout when they introduced these. I know I'm probably the only one, but the original control scheme was so streamlined.
So what’s the biggest difference(s) between this and the Zach Myers because that’s on my list for my next guitar but outside of the coil split, I’d rather grab the guitar with the matching headstock and save $100
Hey Folks, how dies the guitar deal with Drop-D Tuning with high gain? Is it compareable with a Gibson les Paul PAF Sound ? Greetings from Germany😊 Thank you
SEs are great, especially for the money, but there are two things that would still make me pick an S2. (1) S2s are available with satin necks, SEs are not (except for the Holcomb IIRC?) and (2) I prefer the Pattern Regular carve on the S2s to the Wide Thin on the SEs, which I know is highly subjective since it's like a 1/32nd difference in width and depth, but that's how it is, for me at least.
Any of the SE's are a ton of bang for your buck. I've got 2, and both came with better fret work out of the box than a lot of guitars that cost twice as much.
I would buy one of these, today, if they were to make a left-handed version. Same for the DGT. I have a SE Custom 24 and it's great, but that is the sole left-handed guitar from PRS that isn't a $$$ custom order.
I have the vintage cherry finish SE McCarty single cut. I also own 3 S2s and I love the SE just as much, it totally holds its own with the S2s. I changed out the tuners to some Kluson vintage style locking, the SE tuners are jank but other than that these guitars are a ridiculous value.
I already own a LP Studio, so my question is… Do I go for this or an SG? This guitar is like 10 pieces of wood… Sounds better than it should. It’s awesome. I’m so confused 😂
I'm hoping one of the local guitar shops will have these to try. Just more curious about them than anything. I will say for me I'd probably swap the bridge pick up for sure based on all the sounds I've heard on various demos. But looks wise these are probably the best looking SE guitars PRS has.
I pioneered NDM (near death metal - for old folks who love metal but can't play fast - ha) and for some unjustifiable and probably stupid reason, I never took PRS guitars seriously as tools that would satisfy the metal appetite . . . however . . . this review is starting to sway that seemingly false assumption . . . I think the less expensive version (tobacco color) will be my next axe and don't choke but I'm gonna convert the neck to a satin finish (my way of sayin I will carefully, slowly use hg sand paper w vacuum bc idrgaf, it's mine) . . . thank you and rock on mang! (upon request I'll attach a link to a video when I'm ready to toss out an NDM video w/my first ever PRS axe)
Although it's gorgeous and sounds awesome, I still can't put it above the Tremonti charcoal burst. But if I come into a lot of money I'll definitely get that as well lol
I prefer the PRS TOM versus the stoptail, and the pickups seem crunchier IMO. Also for whatever reason tuning stability and intonation were much, much better with this McCarty.
Did a couple drops setups on these. Guitar is great, pickups sound…meh. I find them to be a bigger gap between the S2 than the S2 is to the Core. The neck and tone of the S2 is definitely closer to the Core than the SE is to the S2, but they are $900. Out of all their models, I like the McCartys the most. However if I was looking at the SE line, I'd probably go with either the DGT or Paul's guitar. The one-piece necks are a big plus, especially at that price. I prefer fixed bridge over tremolos, but the master volume/tone is and has been a deal breaker for me (honestly I don't know why they still do this, especially with their Hollowbodies. Most semi/hollow body players I know live in the middle pickup position and use the volume controls to dial in their tone, which you can't do with a master volume). If you're thinking of using it in place of a Les Paul and lean more to the vintage sound, you'd do yourself a great disservice if you didn't try the Standard all mahogany model. I actually find them to be closer to the traditional Les Paul sound, even without the maple top. I think it's probably the laminated neck construction that is doing that. They're stiffer than a one piece or scarf joint, so the top-end you lose without the maple top is being made up by the more rigid neck. If you're a metal player and are going to be dropping in higher gain pickups, the subtle tone difference tend to get rounded off anyway, so it's not as big a deal than if you're going to be using low output PAFs and cleaner amp settings.
Even with it being an SE, ten years ago that would easily have passed at twice the price for that kind of quality. I own the vintage sunburst one. Best split coil sound of any other brand. Most of the time, split coil is almost unusable but not this one.
Surprised how many of these blue ones are selling? I love the guitar, but hate all the colors and finishes. The Vintage Cherry standard model has real binding and you can actually see the wood. Black backs and veneer tops hide all the scrap pieces getting used. Sometimes less is more with guitar manufacturing. I'd never pay $949 for a veneer top and or a blackback. I've got $975 into my cherry standard, including Schaller straplocks, a Gator Deluxe TSA chainsaw case, Gotoh tuners, and all the electronics except the pickups have been upgraded. It was decent before, now it's as good or better than some of my other guitars costing alot more.
The new T style models from P.R.S. are interesting. But, for me the .594 McCarty is still the best P.R.S. It's a masterpiece. And I don't even like P.R.S.
