Big thanks for your work about this video it's very cool and it will be help many people to rebuild their pump, can you just say the torque for the screws please
Thanks i did rebuild on my a4 b7 2.9 tdi bre, but now is leaking oil and the car brakes, before rebuild it was leaking diesel and had no brakes, no sure what i did wrong, any advise?
No brakes must mean you have a vac leak or the pump is no longer making vac to assist your brakes so possibly put something back together wrong. oil leak is probably from gasket between pump and head.
Not really I turned the ignition on and off a few times to try and get as much fuel in the pump as possible and then cranked it over for about 10 seconds until all the air was out and it fired up.
@@inthegarage4 Ah dang, guess I have to do some extra investigation. My lift pump works fine but it doesn't seem to starting after quite a lot of cycling the key and cranking it over
When putting the new main shaft seal do you hammer it tightly or it is slightly away from the bottom? Cause mine takse quite a hammering to get inside and now it does not get to the bottom.
Do you think it's an issue if I have put the main shaft seal the wrong way or not fully in? It was hella stiff and I am not sure I got it all the way in. Everything else assembled properly tho.
Can u help me please. I have A3 2.0 tdi 2004. in the morning it has a hard start. after first start, its fine and start normally. if let it cool for 2 3 hours. have the same problem. i replacment, injector seals, glow plug, 2 injector, and no solutions.
Sounds like you may have fuel running back to the tank after a period of time or one of the other injectors is faulty leaking the diesel into the cylinder over time. You could try a one way valve in the fuel line to eliminate the problem to before or after the tandem pump, will give you an idea where to look then. Only other thing but highly unlikely is in the tandem pump there is a pressure limiting valve in the return line out if that had failed but i doubt it.
is it possible to give the Seal Measurements? cant get the Service Kit in South Africa. Want to give Spec to local Seal Manufacturer and hope for the Best
@@zakkria Double chamber pump bolted to the cylinder head, driven by the camshaft. Inboard chamber creates vacuum for the brake servo so has a hose attached to it from the servo unit at the brake master cylinder. Outer chamber is a diesel fuel pump with an in and out hose connection. When the round 'garter' type seal you seen being replaced fails, diesel goes into the head and down to the sump pan, raising the oil level and of course thinning the oil.
Awesome video, thank you very much!! Just finished rebuilding mine and can't wait to get it fitted.
Subed to the channel.
Thank you for making this video. It helped me rebuild mine with confidence.
Very helpful Saved me a great deal of time Easy to follow strip down
Link not working anymore. HELP with bosch part number please😀
Hi ive just posted a new link should be available in 24hours so keep an eye out.
Brilliant video very enjoyable to watch look forward to doing mine.

Thank you and sorry i dont know the correct torques.
Tight enough works.
Too loose 👎
Too tight 👎
As a rule, the gear wheel and housing of the gear pump are so worn that they also need to be replaced.
nice video, very helpful Torque @ spec. do you have the spec ?
Thank you and i dont sorry
Good morning, nice job done well, you know the code of the gaskets / orings.
Not sure but there is a link to where i bought them from.
Would a fault on this cause diesel to find its way into the oil and sump? My oil level is going up and it smells like diesel.
Yes it can do but can also be injector seals double check which before you replace anything.

Great timing on this as I just had to do mine! Did you have any issues with your car starting after installing the pump back in?

@@DigitalN Use a brake bleeder to suck diesel through the pump. Can attach it to the return line from the pump to the filter
You get the distinct feeling they have never opened a PD tp before in their lives.
I don't have brake bleeder, can I use vacuum cleaner or try to syphon fuel with hose and mouth, of course without risking my lungs. @@MrQueelie

Hi i just tapped it in until it bottomed out you will here a change in tone when its seated, from what i can remember it took some force to tap it in.

Not sure which side of the main shafts seal goes head first actually... Is it the pointy one?
Im not sure have a look at the video see which way i did it. Its been a while now i cant remember 😂
whats the torque spec?
Hey :)
Where do I have to connect the pressure tester? At the right or left bis screw? 😊
Bottom right of the pump as you look at it
@@inthegarage4 Thanks man! 🤗

Did you finally fget the measurements, if yes please share, want t to service Mine too
I dont have the old one anymore so unable to give you the size sorry.
Where the hell does the spare oring go?? I've rebuilt about 10 of these and 1.9tdi and all have extra oring with no place to fit. Wtf.
I think it may go in the vacuum outlet but i never unscrewed it to find out.
+LAW do you know the correct seal orientation? i dont know wich way the seal goes in anymore.
Hi!! Where can I find the torque setting for the bolts?
Not sure, maybe go off the thread size and torque to the standard of that size.
@@inthegarage4 Ok I’ll search it. Thanks for your quick answer!!
Hi can this cause oil in fuel tank
Yes this was the reason for the rebuild on this particular pump.
@@inthegarage4 thanks
And how did your car run when you had the symptoms
Fine until the fuel filter blocked with oil then had major hesitation
@@inthegarage4 thanks
what were your symptoms ?
Oil mixing with the fuel 👎
"Torque to spec" ???? What's the spec ? ???
I dont know thats that the 👀 are for. You will know when there tight enough.

I know best i could do tho, I’m a novice at video making.
