Greg, I’ve followed you and your channel dating back to your Apple watch 100 lb weight loss journey, and I’ve always enjoyed your style, humor, and authenticity compared to others. I don’t have any plans to pick up the MacBook Air, but I really enjoyed the video and look forward to many more. Thanks for staying true and sticking with it through the years!
“This thing is the ultimate travel Mac”. Yep that is why I got the MBA 15 w/512 GB storage and 16 GB memory. It’s all about the form factor. So many other reviewers comparing it with a MBP just don’t get it.
We had a flood last year that knocked the power out for 3 days and I used my powerbank to power up the wifi router and my macbook used battery to check the weather and how the road conditions were and general knowledge of what was going on in the area. I put my 16 inch M1 Max macbook pro into low power mode and it lasted about 18 hours of just checking weather & local news and letting my nieces and nephews watch some movies I had on an external SSD.
Greg, I really like this type of “regular life” video with technology. While I do daily the 14 inch M2 MBP, I really do envy the size/portability that the 15 inch MBA has
Great review man. I upgraded from 2019 intel macpro to 24gb 1tb 15 air, I can honestly say this is the most efficient and effective laptop I’ve used and this is my 5th MacBook. I find myself wanting to utilise this machine as often as I can, carry it everywhere without been pressured about the battery life and weight, you get to concentrate important stuff. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
This video make me understand that as a college student, I’ll be alright for a day of note taking, more than any other video with benchmark! Thank you for you hard work!
this was a good, honest review. Most reviewers seem to think that people using a basically configured entry level Mac will use them the way they do: Edit videos, software development, photoshop & playing games. Those are actually the very things I never use my 15" Mac Air for. I'm very satisfied with mine. Does everything I wanted and expected. I wonder how many people were convinced to upgrade memory and SSDs to the point where it would have been better to just buy a MacBook Pro - just to watch RUclips, write emails, surf the web and use Word? That is what this machine is intended for. I came from a lifetime of Windows and it has disgusted me what it was turning into. The Apple system of hardware and software is a huge breath of fresh air. I wish I made the jump years ago. Don't let stupid stereotypes cloud your judgement.
So you just bought the base model of the air 15”? 😊 i got it today and same with me, i just use it for simple light stuff, none of video editing and stuff like that. I hope it will be okey, I switched after my 2017 MacBook Pro died after 6 years so hoping this will last me some years too 😊
Great video, Greg! Rewatched it a couple of times already, super helpful for normal day users! Ended up getting one 15” M3 because of this! Super thanks!
Dude, you’re in pretty damn good shape! Good for you, man. You’ve given me a little inspiration. Thanks! And thank you for the awesome variety of content and entertainment, as always.
I have a MacBook air 15", i might be doing something wrong coz my MacBook only lasts me for my work day with about 18% left by the night, I start my work from around 9 am and get done by 6 / 7 pm, the battery life is very good no doubt but I think if you are doing a desk job and that means using your MacBook for prolong period of hours, then you should definitely carry your charger, plus there are no bricks so it is much more easier to carry. 10/10 recommended to go for it, in the Indian market it is very expensive and if you go for apple care + it will cost one lakh sixty thousand rupees all and all, but totally worth it.
Love this video that shows real world performance. I'm curious to know 1) what are the specs on your M2 15 air 2) did you use any battery saving settings on your trip like low power mode decreased display brightness etc.. I just got a refurbished 15 air and mostly use it in low power mode when not plugged in
Thanks for the video enjoyed watching this on the same MacBook Air. This was a little different outside the videos you do normally. I think this should be done more often. Day in the life of Greg's day at work😁
More to come! I think in this stage of tech doing more "real" world videos and experiences are more interesting and give user's a better idea on what it's like to use a device longer term. Its a format I'm still new to and others do it better than me, but I'm gonna keep learning and improving with this style.
Great video. I think the M3 or M4 version of the 15" MBA might even be powerful enough to replace my current M1 Pro 16" MBP. Seriously love the form factor of this Mac.
hey Greg! I replaced my 2019 MacBook Pro16in (that I payed $2400 for) with the 15in MacBook Air with upgraded ram and 512 gb ssd. I payed $900 for this laptop and have not looked back. Never realized how much Touch Bar was a gimmick beacause I no longer have to look ar my keyboard to change my volume. The MacBook Pro had way better speakers but I prefer how the m2 chip stays cool doing simple task unlike the intel MacBook. So far I am loving my choice as for a laptop this is absolutely perfect!
Really appreciate this video I'm considering buying a Macbook Air 15 inch, and am debating between the base 14 inch Macbook Pro or a similarly spec Macbook Air 15 inch. Can I ask what configuration this one was?
I found out what makes the battery tick in the Mac book pro. If you increase the brightness to 100% it switches to HDR mode automatically and the battery life drops to 7-8 hours.
I noticed you slide the air right into the padded compartment of your bag, do you feel comfortable consistently doing so? I worry it's fragile and always use an additional padded sleeve. ive never owned an air though, only a pro.
I love this day in the life videos or should I say days in the battery life You’re like me I am so addicted to coffee but I love it. I went to the Apple Store on Friday planning to get the 15 inch MacBook Air but when I put that laptop beside the 14 inch MacBook Pro I couldn’t get over how awesome the screen was on the 14 inch so I ended up getting the 14 even though it’s a tad bit heavier. I really like the more ports battery, life screen, etc.. although it’s nice to have the extra screen real estate and the lightness of the air. Love these videos. Hope you do more like this.
I have two questions: 1. Did you have the low power mode activated? It saves a lot of battery especially for simple tasks and limits the CPU performance of the M2 by just 30%. 2. In what kind of a dreary and barren hole did you resided? It looks like a hospital in the former Soviet Union.
Please do more videos like this. I decided to subscribe bc of this video. It’s realistic for everyday users like myself who love apple products. I don’t want to get too caught up in the tech specs. For me, I don’t need anything powerful. I just need something to go from point A and to point B. Check emails, use for school, browse the web, watch RUclips videos. I love my M2 MacBook Air so far and would love to see how this looks on the 13”.
What do people who use their laptops in public do when they have to go to the bathroom do you leave it at the table and if so arent you worried someone will take it
Really enjoyed this video, Garg…. Oh and your boy @TravisMCP did a podcast the other day, and strangely a few of us OG’s missed you being there.. sort it out lad 👍🏼
Do you say that this would be a good laptop as a main computer for people that don't run Final Cut, Photoshop, Logic with 100 tracks, etc.? If you max out the 15" Air with the 24GB RAM and 2TB SSD, it's the same price as the base model 16" Pro. Nobody in these reviews has mentioned that.
Hi brother! Loved this real life review. Was looking for this kind of video. Quick question, how’s the build quality for you? I want to buy the 15 but I travel a lot, so I feel like the 15 inch would be too sensitive to put in my backpack. I want the screensize but 13 might be a safe bet for backpacks? Great channel!
How is that HDR pro res content? Oh wait... And How much time did you actually spend on it, using it? Did you watch movies? DId you edit any pro res content?
Did you turn off wifi & bluetooth on the macbook whenever you were transiting between locations? (eg. from apartment to cafe, from home to airport, etc)
Just lost my 13 inch air. Looking at new 15 inch. While consumption is fine on this do you edit any 4K video with it and do you think it’s fine for this. I do some drone and GoPro footage and was wondering how this Mac holds up. Thanks and enjoyed the video.
The MacBook Air's battery just goes on forever no lie. And it's so fast , what's not like. In Geekbench it leaves my maxed out windows desktop in the shade.
Are you still running the non-beta software on it? I have Sonoma beta 3 (now 4) on mine and I ran it to 33% today in one day with RUclips playing non-stop all day.
do u not get reflux from those caffine during cafe hopping? nice to see Greg outdoor. Have been considering this 15" air for the longest time, as i sold my 13" air M2.
Good review to see. I have M1 MacBook Pro, and M1 iPad Pro 12.9. Would like to upgrade my mac, but thinking the air would be nicer (and more affordable) than the M2 pros! I charge my MacBook like once a month, so think this is great to see the M2 is also great with power efficiency. Do you store everything on local drives? As I have 5G and gigabit Wi-Fi at home with a NAS, so it is quicker for me to do everything wirelessly, than plugged in. Cheers and keep up the good work
Sitting here in the cafe on my ancient dell 2018 gaming laptop tethered to it's charging brick. Waiting for the day I can go thin and light on my new M3 Air. Soon I keep saying, Soon.
The longevity of these batteries starts to drop off after about a year, I know that personally and have had it confirmed by friends. Out of the box brand new yes, but don't expect it to perform the same after a year. I'm hoping that when it comes to it I can change the battery myself, I'm not keen on driving to the nearest Apple store over forty miles away, sending it away or paying their extortionate fees.
@@savethisforlater Well, I guess if you do not use you computer much to compare it to heavy user yes, but my personal experience with a 13" MBA M2 and others I know suggests the longevity drops off fast after the first year.
