Good video. Most videos miss key steps, which is why I created some videos for the X540 attachments. Very similar to your setup with the exception of hydraulic lift. The only attachment that I didn't do a video for is the mower deck. Glad you did :) You made sure every step was covered, and had decent camera angles. Again, awesome job!!!
Thanks for your video. This was the first time taking off a mower deck and this video helped me to do so. Very easy job, would be easier if I had the pins you have on your deck.
Anthony, I also have a pre 2016 X500. Mine is a 2010 and I just removed my deck yesterday. Thank you for the very helpful information. I just ordered a snow blade for my X500. Could you possibly include a video on how to install this? Thanks again.
It's a good thing he picked this year model because cheap John Deere took away the belt loosening rod that this deck has and now requires you to have your own 3/8 inch ratchet wrench to take off your deck. It also requires you to perform a gymnastic maneuver to use your own tool and at the same time reach under the tractor and with your left hand while on your knees, pull back with the 3/8 inch ratchet, and then reach under the tractor with your right hand and take the belt off of the pulley. This must have saved JD $5 per unit but made taking off the deck 3 x harder. This is JDs history. Not making the tractors better but cheaper for them. They also made the two "J" hooks so that the hook end will not come out of the lift arm so that you can twist it to stay locked out of the hole. Now you have to fight the deck and the lift arm while holding the "J" hook toget it to release. It is fixable by cutting one circle of the spring off but why did they make this change?
The pins for the wheels, did they come with the deck? I want them for mine. I bought a used mower and the deck came with nuts and bolts. Takes a lot longer to change the wheel position. I have a John Deere X340.
I have the same deck and have not seen the type of mulching kit that you and I have. Is this an OEM kit? The plastic is throwing me off. I have had several x300 machines and never knew about pulling the pedal BACK to facilitate things. Thank you!
Hi there nice video I have an pre 2016 x500 "54 deck the pulley on the left hand side between the left blade and middle blade broke on me but every is fine the middle where the bearing was how much I looking at for just the pulley??
Just bought a 3oo series, used. Couldn't have done this without you. So thanks!
