- With the recent release of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, let's take a look at the online series that preceded it! This is both more recent and more popular than the media I usually cover, not to mention it spans an era of Nickelodeon that I'm pretty unfamiliar with, so this was one of the more challenging videos I've had to work on. I hope it turned out alright!

This flash nick fighting game had to be the real Nick all-Stars Brawl that so many wanted with all the nicktoons from 2000-2023.

The fact that Otis shoot his power blasts out of his udders really gives _Street Fighters_ a run of its money. He should keep that power if he joined the rosters in _Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2._

Penguins was the most watched and highest rated at the time of Nickelodeon's release of Jingle Brawl-Super Brawl 2 (not counting Spongebob), with consistent viewers of new episodes. This success likely lead to its high representation in the game and Nickelodeon's future attempts to make multiple dreamworks shows.
Some added context on character choices. Blowhole was added to Super Brawl because the special he premiered in was released around that time, so he was there to promote it. Jellyfish Fields, likewise, was there because SpongeBob’s Last Stand was coming out (that’s what the construction equipment and broken highway are doing there). Mighty B had a major special around Summer’s release, and the pier was part of that; and Abrasive SpongeBob was in 3 since his episode was brand new and fit the theme.
Also, the multiplayer in World and Universe is not “real” multiplayer. The username, stats, and the outfit they’re wearing belong to a person, at some point in time, but the actual fight is against a CPU.
The blohole episodes was the best episodes in that show and probably the best villain in the madigascar franchise

Mort should have been able to one shot every single character considering how canonically overpowered he is in All Hail King Julien.
I watched that show recently and absolutely lost it when they revealed he’s a self-aware multiversal invincible nightmare fetishist of death with DID

Before Nickelodeon’s website lost all its substance, Super Brawl 3: Good vs Evil was the main reason I would go to the site. I love that game and was surprised they would update it too.
Ironically, Penguins if I recall was number two behind Spongebob in viewership, so its pretty well sensible for the time especially to have a such a heavy lean into that cast.
I liked how you weren't super cynical about the less-liked Nick series, that kind of attitude in videos can be annoying to watch, even if I understand some of it. A lot of the commentary here genuinely made me laugh as someone who grew up with 2010's era Nick. Great video!

Yeah, considering the first two games including characters from Fanboy and ChumChum, The Mighty B, and Tuff Puppy alongside the inclusion of Dreamworks based characters clearly dates these games as being from the early 2010s. If the first two games were remade, I doubt characters from those series would be represented since they have ended long ago. I also can tell they wouldn't include the Dreamworks characters since Dreamworks animation no longer works with Viacom
To be fair, the Penguins of Madagascar cartoon was unironically one of the most popular shows on nickelodeon at the time. It makes sense why that series has so many characters represented.
I enjoy playing Super Brawl 2 and 3 the most. I wish Nickelodeon's brand management took more cues from these games for the roster of Nickelodeon All Star Brawl. I really liked the inclusion of obscure characters from shows not many people heard of along with representation from media Nick had other than TV shows. I am aware that the developers of NASB are interested in including more obscure characters, but Nickelodeon is in control of who gets in.
I remembered playing super brawl 4 and the April fools update
Honestly, I feel like NASB has a better roster, the problem with the super brawl games is that they were only really picking shows that were on at the time, or still relevant in some way.
The cool thing about All Star Brawl is that they take characters throughout Nickelodeon’s history.
@phabiorules I personally would have preferred NASB to have a balance between all-time popular characters, current characters, and more reps from obscure franchises for its roster over almost exclusively going for popular 90s era characters. I don't mind the roster in its current state, but I feel that would spice the roster and experience for me.
Fun fact: i also remember a cutscene simulator nickolodeon game where you play as spongebob, the girl from that one show with the blue bird as the main character, the purple dino charge power ranger, that one robot from the tmnt space season, that one ice cream slug from the 2012 tmnt show, squidward and others
Nick's Not-So Ultimate Boss Battles? That game was... kinda cool, mostly because I could play as Squidward and beat the shit out of Squilliam with just a single button-press

A Winx Club fighting game is absolutely bonkers
But honestly, the NASB 2 Team should've take more notes from the Nicktoons Unite Saga and the Super Brawl ones.
I like Lance's design. He looks so cool.
I’m pretty sure they took as many notes from it as Nick would let them. At the moment Nick seems to be allergic to characters even saying the names of or referring to ones from other franchises, much less them having a conversation. The restrictions and mandates on the modern crossover games are kind of ridiculous.
That said, a couple attacks/animations from Jenny, Zim, and Patrick are from the Unite games, and SpongeBob’s Ftilt is from Super Brawl 2.
They did a better job. Characters like Rocko and Jenny never got to shine in a game like this before. They took more variety from Nick's history than just shilling existing IPs.
Considering that NASB2 referenced other Nickelodeon games through the character costumes, it infuriated me that SpongeBob Patrick, Danny, Jimmy, Zim don’t remember each other each other despite the Nicktoons Unite games being canon to their shows.

Fun fact in the power rangers stage in super brawl 4 reptar actually appears in the background. However he can only be seen via a camera glitch if you ko someone or vice versa. (Said glitch is where the camera still follows you when you or opponent gets ko'd)
It happened to me a few times when i played super brawl 4
The Good old Nostalgia. I remember playing Super Brawl 2 and 3 a lot. The Themes were really catchy, modes were cool additions and characters were fun. Having Rabbids and Po in a Nickelodeon website Game was really Cool. I know that the NASB 2 developers want to add more iconic and obscure characters, but can't due to Nickelodeon being in control of which characters could get in NASB 2, It would be cool though to see Otis and Timmy in as DLC.
Me and my freinds used to play these Nickelodeon brawl games so much. Miss those days so muchwhen flash games used to be a thing. 2D flash games deserve more love and recognition. Never forget these hidden gems of the internet.
Can we talk about how creepy Jimmy is in super brawl 2? He has the same unsettling blank expression no matter what he does
When I was a kid, I was borderline obsessed with the Super Brawl games and DESPERATELY wanted the series to come to consoles. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl kind of made that happen, but I wish it were a traditional fighter instead to keep the spirit of the Flash games going.

Never knew any of these existed at all. I was always more of a Cartoon Network kid and these games actually remind me of a Teen Titans fighting game they used to host on their city.
Side note tho: you can emulate Android games pretty easily

So fun fact one day when I was in grade 2 I wanted to play good vs evil on the school computer but the teacher looked at my screen and said " good vs evil? I don't like the sound of that! Play something else"
I played universe. While i kinda think its broken now, i do remember how the game worked. You would dash forward to make your character get up in the enemy's face, dash backwards for a quick dodge, hold the screen for a shield, tap the screen for an attack, and when you attacked enough times you could unleash a super move. Problems that i had with the game are: characters are handled POORLY. Their differences being ghe hit and hurt boxes alongside their special. There were also a lot of filler characters. You already could play as spongebob but also play as him in the costume shown in the video. Yes, costumes were handled like characters. You also had to keep opening chests and get enough cards to unlock em sonic speed battle style. 2. There was a campaign mode but it didnt really have a story. You just kept moving on to the next stage. I then wondered if i was just fighting endlessly but i checked and there was an end. Never got there so ye. Also one day text started glitching out and now you need to wakt like 30 mins (maybe even more) just to get in, and then it kinda just doesnt work. Sad. Kinda entertaining but totally different.
I loved these games growing up particularly Nick Brawl 2.
i would honestly love for them to return to the traditional fighting game genre again. Yeah platform fighters are more accessible to many people, but if done right it could rival something like MvC

I remember getting on my laptop as a kid playing Super Brawl 2 for a while and then dropping it to play their block party game at the time and play their 3D racing game
12:38 I love how three of them are from TMNT 2012’s parody cartoons that the Turtles watched throughout the show, and yet somehow they know these very real superheroes. It’d be like if the world leaders got together in a room and then suddenly Aquaman walked through the door. I have to give them credit for including all three of the ones at the time instead of just the most recent one though

As a guy who played super brawl universe, it plays like that one marvel game and it added in Special effects characters had. Some characters were broken it wasn’t the best

I’m guessing Danny Phantom was just barely relevant at the time, while Jenny was just barely out of relevancy.

The rosters for every nick flash game is a time capsule of what was airing at the time. It’s so interesting now to see these mish mash of characters, most of them are probably forgotten by now.

I used to love these games so much. Since jingle brawl i remembered being excited for super brawl. I don’t know why i loved it so much.
I remember that series i adored Rico in Jingle Brawl 1 because i used to spam Rico's dynamite move as much as possible to beat enemies without getting beat myself because that strategy was kinda OP but fighting Aang drove me crazy it always made me rage because of his avatar state move back when i was younger i miss that series i could never unlock all the unlockables

A fun/disturbing fact about 3 that i discovered when I went to obtain its files is that, while the game did in fact use Flash, it also used Unity inside of that and that's where all the actual assets were stored.

Hi! I was around when these games were originally coming out and I just wanted to say, yes, Penguins WAS being heavily pushed at the time. I’m surprised how forgotten it is nowadays since it was one of the more heavily aired and promoted shows on the network while it was on. Even Dr. Blowhole’s inclusion in Super didn’t feel out of place since him and his first special (The Return of Dr. Blowhole) were getting very hyped up.
Also, I’m surprised you only noticed these games as being advertisements for currently-airing shows by the third game, considering how Otis and Fanboy were in the original batch.

Honestly, I’m just disappointed in the TMNT reps. All star Brawl 1 and 2 are the only video games where despite being able to play as some of the turtles, you can’t play as all of them.
It feels so weird April is the only returning character in the sequel.

My favorite was always Super Brawl 3, I always mained the Rabbids since I liked the Rayman and Rabbids games at the time. It also makes sense for them to be on the evil side.
Brawl 3 was BEST it was so fluid and the animation was great and the artstyle was amazing wish they made more games like it

Brawl 3 (Good vs Evil) is the best one, hopefully it gets revamped one day because the aesthetic is visually pleasing.
When I was a kid, I remembered being so mad that they removed Sheen from the game. I never got to beat him and play as him. He was the hardest one to beat out of all the bosses.
My Favorites are Super Brawl 2 and 3. I didnt play World too much but that one isn't too bad either

In case you wonder why I count Just Got Real but not Scary Brawl, it's because Scary Brawl is just a reskin of 4, meanwhile Just Got Real removed characters, stages, and slightly altered the gameplay.
Super brawl one physics was better i think everyone had different special move it was more fast and hard then super brawl 2
