they all amazing, but if you jump from clip to clip you'll find that dm-2 have the best slapback tone. big boys seems cool for crazy stuff, especially the moog
I have/had all of these except the WH, and only kept the DM-2w. CC muddies up the low-mids a lot and takes off rather suddenly once self-oscillation threshold is crossed, distorting the repeats very quickly. The MF is lovely on long setting and in-studio may be the best overall, but is so friggin' huge and that preamp colors everything in a way I don't care for. DMM is the best for staccato hands down, and chorus/vibrato is unique - but has similar issues as the Moog with form-factor and power, noisy, just one footswitch for everything. DM-2w does arguably the best slap, takes expression, is compact, doesn't mug the dry signal and best of all does the "near-infinite"repeats thing _without going into oscillation_ like only the Moog can, but imho does it a bit better due to a broader sweet spot to play inside of. I also have a Rubberneck which is hardly worth $350 or whatever the MSRP, but for $200-250 it absolutely is. Pretty.versatile and fun to play with the digitech 3-button momentary "fx3" switch for ramping self-oscillation and tap-tempo, on top of the pedals other f/s for modulation. Slaps great but repeats get verrry dark at long settings and can easily turn into some bass-mush if you let it regen for long.
I know it's sacrilege, but I have been through a fair few analog delays, am willing to spend whatever it takes for magic, and the Strymon El Cap just does it for me. I have previously had Diamond Memory Lane 2, Analogman ARDX20, Boss DM2 (original), and the DMM big box. The DMM is the best, hands down, but without tap tempo it's not practical for me.
@@GriffinJenningsMusic it was cool and had some unique features that were great (I had the II which offers two delay settings, so you can have your long delay + a slapback - pretty much covered my bases) but tonally I never really fell in love with it. The El Cap sounds better to me. I did love the ARDX20 - that's an underrated, really great sounding delay - but the tap tempo and mod being a separate pedal was really weird. I had the old ARDX20 which has a lame design, the new organ box one looks cool as hell. I know that shouldn't matter...but it matters.
@@Find-A-Band it absolutely matters! I feel similarly, the ARDX seems sick but i dont wanna use an extra power slot for the modulation. In my hierarchy of delay pedal needs, modulation and tap are at the top.
@@kyledonworth3845 Hey Kyle. It´s tricky :-) Soundwise: Slight win for the Memory Toy. But: I´d still take the Carbon Copy because you can adjust the modulation to taste by opening it, just manipulating the trimpods. That´s a huge bonus. Yes, I know, it can be done with the Memory Toy as well, but it´s not without risk because you have to mess with the contacts, not recommended. No sure if you care about visuals but the Carbon Copy looks beautiful as well. At the end I go with : 55-45 Carbon Copy. Both do their job. Wonderful, warm sounds that don´t stand in the way of your playing. They just create another dimension, especially with the modulation on. Go for it!
@@jillesguzman3333I purchased a Deluxe Memory Man Nano a few months back and that pedal would solve your modulation issue. It has knobs for modulation rate and depth.
@@GriffinJenningsMusic thanks for taking the time to reply man! Would you say the Moog is worth it at its current price point? I’ve got a Thermae that I love and use all the time but want to get one more analog delay that has a different flavor.
I heard somewhere that it's officially pronounced like "Maug". Like, with an "ow" sound. But I think saying it with more of an "oh" sound like in this video is how most people say it. That's the one I prefer, anyway. Ha ha
Nah it was always pronounced Moog, until a few years before Bob Moog mentioned he thought it was originally pronounced Mogue in Dutch, & after that everyone started calling it Mogue. So if you learned the original way (or you’re an actual Dutch speaker), then you probably just pronounce it Moog.
@@Spuzzmacher yep straight up moog. unless youre a cork sniffer, then mogue sounds better. because its posh you know.. i was here back in the day and its always been moog. i have a multimoog synth, if anyone called it the other in its presence i would say, "leave my house" 😆 and liam shepherd, its a play on words for marketing. rhyming is cool 😅dry my eye.
You should definitely look out for the rubberneck. It has effects loop, tap tempo, gain control, tone control, mod and rate control. But these all sound great!
oh man, all pedals at time is pure bliss, most beautiful sound ive ever heard wow!
Deluxe Memory Man and it’s not even fair. It has just the right amount of everything PLUS the chorus/vibrato. And I’m a Moog fanboy.
Awesome comparison. Love analog delay tones. Nice to have the variety of tones from the bright Aqua Puss to the dark tones of the DMM. Sweet.
The Deluxe Memory Man just has "it" for me. It sounds so 3D, especially with the chorus. I need one

how does this not have more likes. An actually useful video
thanks bud!
always gotta turn them all on at least once 🙌
That dark moog chorus was magic, also all the delays at once… pretty special.
i agree, love getting chorus and vibrato sounds from analog delays
I loved the Moog
This was great! Really enjoyed this comparison. For me, nothing beats that DMM sound! Mmmm. Delicious!
Subbed. 😎👍
Thank you! I just returned the favor! 😊
Much obliged! 😊
I think I need to put all my delay pedals on my board now
deluxe memory man is the best!

DM2w is so lush.
I have used the Supa puss for years. I never thought the aqua puss was really that interesting, but the Supa can do some really cool stuff.

I could never justify the cost of the moog, but the tremolo and chorus in the DMM is so cool! I ‘d love to get that with the clarity of the aqua puss.
I have a Carbon Copy and a Memory Toy coming my way. Really curious which one I will like more

boss and moog is best
As a budding delay junkie, I’d love to know which of these you hung onto still. Man, that Moog is special but so spendy!
Cheers!
still have the moog and DMM and use them all the time. gonna get a carbon copy deluxe at some point!

Hi. What delay pedal if you think that is the best of all those? Thanks
if money is no object gonna say the moog

not for sale sorry!

Yeah it’s awesome that it has so many features while being affordable
awesome but show me something i can't do with my memory boy 😎
EHX just kills it
EHX is just top notch. Always punching above their price. And it's not overinflated by guitar players.
The best delay you have is making a cameo but isn’t on the board.
this was for only analog delays
@@GriffinJenningsMusic I know, I was joking. They were all great. I was just giving that Volante some love. :)
