Saw them last night in Bristol....man I almost cried at the end of the gig....so many memories of being 18 and going to their gig in Gloucester in '79; a little punk with attitude and having the time of my life! Thanks for the wonderful times Undertones...love you to bits xxx
Was also at the O2 Bristol Debbie. Oh happy happy memories of sitting in their dressing room at Portsmouth Poly in 79. Great songs never die, and still a truly great live band. I love the Undertones!
This by far the best Tones track, amongst a mix of brilliant fast paced 3 min anthems. Paul has now been in the tones longer than Fergal.!! Paul to me is a better front-man, but we have to remember the Tones where at their peak when Fergal was in the band. Long Live the Tones with Paul. Fergal was great in the beginning, but Paul is where it is now! Get to see them live, you will NOT be disappointed.
The 'Tones have a knack for writing the perfect pop-punk tunes. This one is no different. Brilliant!! God I love The Undertones! Can't wait to see you again.
He sounds like he could be the lead singer of the Undertones. If they say he is...then he is! He doesn't sound much like Fergal, but that's not so bad! I like it! Play on!
@FergR It would be great if they released a live concert DVD, as a document of themselves. The BBC have one when they were on Rock Goes To College (or In Concert), from about late 70s. It's time those thick heads at the Beeb released their archive concerts like German tv shows Rockpalast and Musikladen have done.
Well actually - they did cease to be for quite some time - the O'Neills were in That Petrol Emotion for a number of years and Billy Doherty was in The Carrellines. Mickey Bradley worked for Radio Foyle - and still does.
Do you remember I used to say All the sweetest things to make you stay I kept believing that things would change That these delusions were nothing strange I never thought you loved me I had to leave the world behind Like the open sky above me You thrill me all the time Unknown emotions would wear me down If tears were kisses, I'm already drowned But my expression could make you see The hesitation that would come over me I never thought you loved me I had to leave the world behind Like the open sky above me You thrill me all the time I see everything you do And I've done everything you say Can't get close to you But maybe someday (hey maybe someway)
Regarding the Fergal Sharkey/Paul Macloone debate. I've been a fan since back in the day and seen them perform with both singers. Paul Macloone gets my vote...much better live performer and more stage presence than Fergal Sharkey. Been the lead singer for a lot longer too. This is one of their best songs.
with respect - wrong. Feargal was one out of the box. Unique vocalisations, attitude in bucketloads and a stage manner like no other, smokin'! But yes, GREAT band, great riffs great toons. From an original LP buyer in 80.
Lots of shouting bits in that message buddy! Question, have you seen them perform recently? The band have a ball on stage, and really seem to enjoy playing to a like-minded crowd. Fast-paced, anthemic, tuneful, 3 min belters!! Also need to take into account that they have recently released 2 albums, and that is where this track 'Thrill Me' comes from. hardly fair to say that is all about pretending to care about old music from their teens! Check them out at a gig, and then let us know...
Well it's not bad, I couldn't disagree more with Ferg Ranson. A band is a unit, and together they make the band. Without Feargal they are not even close to what they were, this guy has a nice voice but not even close to the intensity or manic style. I love the Undertones.....if I heard this song on the radio I wouldn't even know who the band was....not memorable.
why am i just hearing this now ?? great track love it up there with early undertone classics
Staggeringly brilliant. John O'Neill is a genius. As we know.

The Undertones are one of the best bands in the world today!
Can't really top the Undertones. I have to dance every time I hear one of their songs. Thanks for posting!!!!!!

Just heard this at Lemon Tree in Aberdeen tonight. Guys your music is brilliant, and your lead singer does you proud. Best gig ever.
The World Class UNDERTONES.Need I Say More
Awesome Tune. Great vocal performance.
This by far the best Tones track, amongst a mix of brilliant fast paced 3 min anthems.

“If tears were kisses I’d already drown”
Great little line...
3 minutes of pure brilliance from the Undertones
it is perfect, fast, energy!! and great videoclip too which really caught the song

Great tuneful tune
SUPERB!
Just saw 'em @ Gramercy Theater on 23rd St. in NYC May 23rd, 2019. 32 songs and not a dud in the lot-
I agree 100%
He sounds like he could be the lead singer of the Undertones. If they say he is...then he is! He doesn't sound much like Fergal, but that's not so bad! I like it! Play on!
It would've sat nicely on that ridiculously good first album. It really is that good.
Wish I could here this song with Sharkey singing...
Exactly!
Play this at my wake...
@FergR

Respect for all #cheers
excellent
miss Feargal Sharkey !!!!!!!!!! 😭
@skatertumen Not questioning Feargals singing he's a great singer just his choice of solo songs. Also think the new guy is just as good.

@witchhunter81 I agree. I think he is just as good.
👍👍

Does anybody know where i can find the lyrics?
Fergal who?
@peterpringle01 i know. i just dont know why undertones still well know and popular with this gay near microphone
Nice try, but you can't replace Feargal. Sorry.
@witchhunter81 "A good heart" gay? i don't think so
@FergR i just mean their music was a lot better with sharkey. with he, and when he
typical undertones track what ya see is what ya get
@skatertumen Hope that's sarcasm.Loved feargal In the undertones, but solo crap
mejor sonaba antes lo tema viejo.. esto suena muy punk lo otro era mas rock
@FergR "he was the weak link"? first, there's no logic. singer of band cant be weakest in band
@witchhunter81 what? feargal is good singer with real male voice. new undertones singer is gay voice
whats wrong?
Well it's not bad, I couldn't disagree more with Ferg Ranson. A band is a unit, and together they make the band. Sharkey's trills and power are just so much better
This guy is trying but it seems Feargal doesn't have to try he just does.
@skatertumen -He's just as good as Feargal-Just remember Feargal sold out- "A good heart" how gay is that?
it is perfect, fast, energy!! and great videoclip too which really caught the song
