Man, love this podcast. Every time Andy is on I'm all ears. Thanks to Andy and Riener for all your hard work over the years... Here's to 25 more! /cheers
GI ❤ edit: this is my comment from 7yrs ago. Today GI has ended. I literally grew up reading (since 2008) and hearing you guys all through the Hanson era and I still follow MinnMax. I've seen Jacob and Leo go from an intern and a new-hire to successful RUclipsrs. And, still follow the other diaspora of GI too. Thanks for Informing me about games and making me laugh since childhood practically. You guys really had an impact.
That was super fun! I could hear Andy and Reiner talk about the history of Game Informer and all those weird stories for hours and hours. Thank you guys and congratulations! Cheers from Hungary!
I'm one of those guys pestering GI on Twitter for a book about the life in the industry. Shame about the lack of pics, but I'd still looove a book to hold and read. And I'm sure there are pics out there even if GI didn't take them, just might take some digging. But thanks for this guys for this discussion. As a subscriber since about 94 I've always been fascinated with the inside business. I even got a letter printed as a little kid inquiring about the job (which was mocked hehe)
This was so amazing! I'm so glad y'all got to sit down and talk about game informers history. Ben does such a great job at asking questions and getting some cool stories out of people. I've wanted something like this for a while. I trust game informer so much, and it's because y'all have been there for me since elementary school. I can't wait for the book!
Wow, such a good episode. Missed the emails though. I know we have a tour of the vault, but it would be a great thing to have a tour of the office - just to see the environment you all create this wonderful content for everyone in. Congrats on 25 years!
I haven't been subscribed to GI since 2013 I think but after watching this ill be going by Gamestop tomorrow to renew my subscription. Thank you GI doing what yall do!
I agree!!! Blast from the past! I just realized that I was reading GI back in 2003 and shit, that's 13 years ago!!! I remember going to Babbages and Electronics boutique as a kid in the 80's and early 90's!!!
I've been coming to the website since 2006 but only just this year did I actually subscribe to the digital magazine. I wish I'd done it sooner as it's a great read every month and I hope you gents are able to continue publishing it for many more years to come.
Congratulations on 25 years, Game Informer! I loved listening to all the different stories, and I hope that this is only video 1 of 20! ; ) I've had the magazine since around 2003, and everything you guys do is incredible. Keep up the great work, and I'll see you in 25 more years! Also, when Andy mentioned "old yeller" I took a look at the site on the wayback machine. It's amazing! Did anyone else do that?
Wow that was fantastic absolutely my favorite GI show! I've been a subscriber for than 10 years now and whenever a magazine comes in my mailbox a smile comes across my face every time. Congratulations guys! Keep doing what you do so well and I'm sure that there will be another anniversary 25 years from now!
This was easily one of my favorite episodes. Great information and knowing I started subscribing at the Tony Hawk Cover story left a smile on my face hearing the back story of how that came to be was great. Keep up the great work everyone!
I've been subscribed since 2005 when I first discovered Game Informer. I'll never forget that green Condemned: Criminal Origins cover. The concept of a 100 page magazine dedicated solely to games blew my mind at the time, and it isn't a stretch to say that it changed my life.
congrats on 25yrs. I've been a subscriber for 3 to 4 years and look forward to every issue. ps still have all my issues and periodically read them. over 50 issues.
Aw man I remember getting all my gaming info from Game Informer and EGM back in the day. It felt like a good rivalry between the two, and that's cool of you guys for acknowledging them. Congrats on making it to 25 years and many more to come
While the GI of the last decade has been outstanding I would wager in the 90's EGM was consistently the better publication. My opinion of course. I love GI to death though and was a subscriber to both magazines during that time. Sad EGM is gone.
Yea I used to read most of those mags back in the day, but ultimately I always felt GI was the best even though they were the underdog at the time. So glad the cream has risen to the top
First issue of G.I. i ever got my hands on was the red cover with the Dreamcast on the front and I loved it! I have been a subscriber since the issues with Tony Hawk 1 and RE3 on the cover( not sure which came first) and you guys have rarely let me down. Here's to another 25 years!!!!
Strange to find out that Game Informer is almost as old as I am...I started reading at about 12 years old I guess, so the magazine would be 11 or twelve years old at that point. It was new to me! I've been a fan for the last 13 years, so I've been with it for over half it's life! That's pretty cool.
Can I please get an autographed 25th anniversary poster (like the one yall have there on the table) with Andy and Andrew. It would be the most epic in my world to get, yall rock, always and forever!
this was great i really want to get a subscribe this year just cause these guys seem like really geniune good people who love games. Congrats on your success!
Like a lot of people, I came after i learned of its cancellation. Saved and saw it this week. Ive had more than one subscription. Didnt know it was funcoland that started it. It wasn't my fav, that was egm. But i know what everyone is going through. And i had a sub after egm died. Mags were getting thinner even back then. GI still felt substantial. I wish some mags could come back annually or seasonally. Current egm isn't even listing it's writers.
Loved this episode!!! It was awesome to see some history about how these guys worked together to make all this happen. Slam that thumbs up button. Leaving a dislike on this video is like eating the Easter Bunny and robbing Santa Clause.
I totally remember going into funcoland when I was a wee lad. It was awesome how you could try the games before you bought them. Not to mention the fact that that's where I first found game informer. Apparently the 1st issue I had, had a scan of Andy's ass. Loved the mag since that yoshi's story cover.
i remember i used to flip thru the mag to read the reviews for the worst games i remember 1 that said if a game vould be pluked from the annals of space this wiuld ve the game... man i really miss the way you guys would break balls when a game was trash...
Sorry to see Gameinformer’s run come to an end. I will always remember how much joy these guys and the print issues brought me throughout my life!
RIP game informer, you provided so many core memories to so many people. Will always have good memories of you guys and the magazine
Watching this a day after I found out that Game Informer was closing down. Such a tragedy.
Man, love this podcast. Every time Andy is on I'm all ears. Thanks to Andy and Riener for all your hard work over the years... Here's to 25 more! /cheers
Seann Miller Why is there even 1 dislike. Probably my favorite episode.
Steve Barfoot yea i was thinkin the same thing...
Great to come back to this today after the news. Good show, good stories. GI will be missed for sure! Thanks for everything!
Love you GI, maybe we will get lucky and get a book from McNamara or Reiner at some point. You will be missed dearly!
GI ❤

I was hanging on every word. This had some great insight, solid stories and I always love having Andy talking about games.
I live near San Marcos, boy has it changed since those days. What a great nostalgic episode! Keep up the good work GI

I really liked listening/watching this video.
Would love to hear more stories/history from Andy McNamara & Andrew Reiner!
loved this episode. gave me an incredible new perspective on GI.
Man, that's gotta be one of my favourite episodes yet.
Keep doing what you do
I absolutely loved this, hope to see more videos along the lines of history and stories of the magazine. Great job guys.

This is fascinating.

Sad that video game magazines have gone the way of the dinosaur. I miss game magazines!
❤️🤣.... miss Andy M and Ben H on the podcast.
I grew up reading @gameinformer throughout the entire 90's and beyond! I love yall! Never stop doing what you do! #YallRock
Great episode. You guys should have the Game Dandy on more often.
Extra sad re-watching this today.
Great episode. I found it fascinating, honestly. Mac and Reiner are good people.

Any chance of that poster becoming a hi-res photo for our viewing pleasure?
1:40:35
FINAL FANTASY 7 REMAKE COVER CONFIRMED?!!!
But seriously, keep up the good work. You guys are some of the best in the industry.
Lol that's what I thought especially after seeing Andys reaction. But nah, that's very unlikely.
Guys like Andy come around once in a lifetime.
Andy, I go to school in San Marcos! Had no clue you grew up here.
Congrats Game Informer. Hands down my favorite episode thus far. Even Hanson was tolerable.
agreed on that Hanson..
Paper Mario, NEVER FORGET!!!!! j/k, keep up the great work guys. Congrats on a quarter century!
this was so good!
This is the saddest news. I have been a customer and reader of GameStop and GameInformer for decades!
Like a lot of people, I came after i learned of its cancellation. Saved and saw it this week.
Ive had more than one subscription. Didnt know it was funcoland that started it.
It wasn't my fav, that was egm. But i know what everyone is going through. And i had a sub after egm died.

Heck yea guys. I'm with game informer for life!
Here's to another 25
Andy sounds like Ben Stiller.
Keep up the great work, GI! Any chance you will appear in Russia eventually?
McNamara and Reiner make me want to quite my job and go work for GI
I totally remember going into funcoland when I was a wee lad. It was awesome how you could try the games before you bought them. Not to mention the fact that that's where I first found game informer. fantastic
Congrats #Legends
I'm going to pretend that Kyle went back in time to leave that comment on the forums to get his ultimate revenge.

1:27:45 Lisa did nothing wrong. TTYD is vastly overrated. If memory serves, the second opinion was around a 6/10 as well.
GI is totally worth $1.25 a month1
I have a collection of every issue from 2004 to 2014...who wants it?
@@hihosilver1234 oh...just kidding...my mom already threw them out
