  • The opening rounds of 2024 AMSOIL Champ Off-Road season was this past weekend in Lena, Wisconsin at Dirt City Motorplex!
Not only was this the start for the NEW season but the start to several other NEW things for our team as well! This year both drivers have moved up and are in NEW classes. Lucas Houle in Pro-Am SXS and Hudson Houle in Youth SXS. They are also running NEW machines this year 2024 RZR XP machines. We also have several NEW sponsorships and partnerships this season. The team has been working very hard to get everything ready for the season and we felt were ready when we left
    the shop on Thursday.
FRIDAY: Each driver had a practice session to shake things down and get dialed in for the races on Saturday and Sunday. Hudson recorded the fastest lap in his class and Lucas had some mechanical issues which didn’t allow him to finish the session.
SATURDAY: Hudson was up first for our team in the Youth SXS class and he would start 4th based off the random redraw for the first round of the series. Hudson quickly made it into 2nd place and by turn 2 was passing for the lead when he and other driver made contact and Hudson took on some heavy damage (bent tie rod and broken axles) Hudson recovered in last place and started to charge back through the pack all the way up to 3rd place at the end.
Lucas was up next in the Pro-Am SXS class. Based off of random redraw Lucas would start 22nd. Lucas quickly began to make moves and pass cars but early into he race realized he did not have 4WD and he as running in 2WD due to a part failure. Lucas still pushed hard and came home 17th overall but he posted the 9th quickest lap of the race while being stuck in 2WD. This gave Lucas and the team confidence that Sunday would be a better day.
SUNDAY: They flip the starting orders to keep it fair and them going to the next race weekend they invert the field based off of points. Hudson would start 5th on this day. At the start of the race Hudson quickly started to make passes and found him self in 1st place on lap 1. Hudson drove a smooth and clean race to take home his first win of the season. This also puts Hudson 1st place in points going into the second round of the series.
Lucas would start 5th on Sunday. The start of this race was very messy and guys were all over the place early on. Once the mayhem settled Lucas found him self back a few positions but this was the first time he was on track all weekend with out any issues to speak of. Once Lucas got the feel for everything he start making passes and finish the race back up in 5th place. This is a very strong performance for his first weekend in this class!
Jake Jorgenson also had a solid race weekend Lena with two top 5’s at a track that has been good for the Wildcat XX!
