Although I will agree with Doug on this, the CDL is a joke and has been ever since it went into franchising. If you disagree then I don't know what league you are watching. This esport needs to go back to MLG and CWL days where everyone was given a chance to play in Champs for example. No matter your background if you are from the US/Canada, Latin America, Australia or wherever you should have a chance. Ever since this game has gone to franchising and the games got progressively worse there simply just hasn't been a lot to it. The fact that 8 teams are at champs is a JOKE! To the highest degree. So there I agree with Doug. Things need to change franchising is not working. MLG and CWL format worked so well. Open bracket, pool play, hundreds of teams, more tournaments and of course the games were a lot better then they are now with the garbage we get these days.

Eh, if you look at the world cup for example, the same thing happens. All the best national soccer teams are in Europe and in order to qualify they have to play against each other whereas you have shit teams like Australia or really any of the Asia/North American teams that get MUCH easier qualifications.

The CDL has so much crazy potential but they consistently keep shooting themselves in the foot they desperately need better people making decisions. Hell even hire retired cod pros as consultants for certain decisions.

I agree, Doug's been going through it the past couple years and I hope he's able to find his footing again.
I've never seen someone so driven to compete. The dude basically said challengers is ruining his life, but he's happy just solely for the chance to prove himself and get in the league. I really hope they listen to him, but have absolutely no faith that they will.
Maybe what we need to do next year if shit is still this bad is start reaching out to Activision/Blizzard themself. I don't know much but i'd guess pretty confidently the guys running the league were put there by people even higher up in the company. I'm not saying there should be a witch hunt, but if there's someone who can be identified for making all these changes(because it sounds like even doug doesn't know), people should just reach out to those higher up executives or people actually designing the game and tell them that person is running the league in to the ground. I feel like it's much easier to convince people in charge that whoever is running the challengers scene, or even the CDL in general is making bad decisions than it is to convince the person making those bad decisions that they are bad decisions. This stuff has almost no hope of changing if people don't even know who's making the decisions in the first place. The fact that the format for the biggest tournament is announced barely a month before the event, and comes as blind-siding most of the players who would be competing in that event is absurd. I wouldn't be surprised if the person running all this shit is just someone hired by their billionaire corporate overlords to get a fat pay check for running it and doesn't even care at all about the esport. Franchising seems like it's just put a huge wedge in communication between the players and the people running it. Everyone involved even including some of the pros in the league are so focused on money that when it comes to quality of life or competitive environment they view it completely different from years past. Do the people running it really gain anything from changing the format? They probably just view this all as a hassle and more effort than they want to spend when they are getting a paycheck regardless. They clearly don't care about the opinions of most players, or the logistics of creating a quality competitive environment otherwise there wouldn't be pro's still confused on who it's being run by. I pray to god someone just comes in one day and fires everyone in charge and hires people actually passionate like doug who communicate with the players

I'm sorry but you created a great opportunity to present a valid case on Challenger issues and solutions, but why did you continue to throw petty, salty, and condescending digs at players around you and pro players? (Ex. laughing at players with more points than you because they "don't have what it takes to win"). Acting like your harder working than everyone around you, everyone else is grinding just as much as you are. You're not entitled to a spot, and the league is slightly political like every job in life to a degree, but not nearly as much as you claim. There literally are so few spots it's just a reality, it's not gate kept. Then you were condescending towards APOC and SA teams dragging names and not apologizing, why? He’s just being honest. That spreadsheet shows that AU and EU teams aren’t up to par with the NA Teams. The 8th seed from NA can easily beat the first seed from AU. So It’s Unfair that the AU team get to qualify just because they’re first in their region cause they’re playing with just shit players. It’s harder for NA to qualify cause everyone in that Region is fucking good.

CDL doesn't give a crap about challengers or the CDL. Daniel Tsay is a awful GM. The entire challengers scene including every single player/coach wants at least 16 teams at challengers champs(should be 32). There was a petition with 3,000 signatures and every signature of every challengers player to change the challengers Champs format and the cdl still does nothing. Shame on the CDL and Daniel Tsay the GM of the CDL for destroying challengers.

The sooner everybody realises (Like I did when first announced) that the franchise league is the last attempt of getting as much money out of regular Call Of Duty possible the sooner you will all realise they don't really care for anything else. Challenger teams have been in the blender ever since because you don't make them any money. Just remember that the ultimate goal is for them to move to Warzone because that's where they see the future of COD. Numbers will drop significantly during MWII. Nobody will stick around and watch a 2 year cycle COD league. All this will blow up by 2024/2025 they'll move all the main money to Warzone leaving competitive call of duty high and dry.

This is part of the growing pains Doug. League of Legends did the same thing years ago, Korean teams were so much better than NA/EU teams that we shouldn’t have ever been able to come. Just get better dude.

I mean if they want to take WORLD championships seriously they should do it like they do with football during the worldcup. But instead of by country do it by region. Let a team pick the best players in each region to form the best teams and give them a few months to practice before sending them off to play against each other.
A good option could be how the smash community has done big tourneys being small tournaments in each country/ continent before having a big international tournament.
We should have CDL Mexico CDL Canada CDL ASIA CDL USA . And battle it all out in a mundial type tournament

This issue came up when they went into franchising. Its a money making scheme that doesn’t care about competition and working your way up. It’s like what they are doing in golf and what they tried to do in English football.

It's absolutely a joke, if you're wanted to be all inclusive and give weak regions spots which is fine then you have to up the number of teams competeting not reduce it. From EU this does seem like typical American sports though, francise leagues are such a joke competitively it's hilarious. I know challengers isn't franchised but it's in the same vein.
And here I thought COD Mobile's championship structure was messed up (which it is) but this is actually terrible
I don't understand why you are upset about a WORLD championship having other regions compete? Its fair to pick 2 teams from each region. You guys get to play in the NA championships and majors the other regions don't get the chance to start a career because NA has the most viewers.

Does the CDL have a players coalition? If they do, then they need to ACT NOW. This isn't right by any means. Yes, everyone deserves an equal opportunity. That doesn't mean lesser teams should get in simply because they live somewhere else. Make the qualifier the top 8 seeds from every region going at it in random pools, so that way you can't "fix" any matches. It's time for change.
It's their mission to bury COD. Everything about it is worse. The streaks, maps , graphics , sbmm , disbanding lobbies, connection , literally all of it has gone completely backwards. Can't even make friends because every lobby disbands and if you party up you're punished by sbmm. It really feels like their mission to ruin the game
Also can't forget camos, challenges, weapon progression, and calling cards are worse also the combat record. They've actually managed to not add a single feature thats better than anything in black ops 1. Just mind blowing
