in my Remington Ultimate muzzleloader I got the best groups out of black horn 209 powder 105 grains and Barnes TTSX 250 grain bullets, speed out of the barrel was 2006 fps. Shooting about .8 inch groups at 100 yards. Plus that black horn cleans super easy Good luck out there boys.
The Remington Ult. Muzz. doesn't cover any damage to the breech from the BH 209, they do make after market breeches able to sustain shooting BH209 all the time but it does burn them out.
Use a scale and weigh your powder helps so much. I can keep muzzle velocity down to within 15 ft per second per shot with my cva. Also look at the 45 and 40 caliber cvas. Ballistic are so much better than 50 caliber.
Check out my other vids…I use an RCBS Chargemaster for every powder measurement and I already own 2 CVA .45 cal muzzleloaders... there are pros and cons to both. Any other ground breaking suggestions?😂😂😂
Wonder how well these would do if you didn't rush the shots on a hot day? My Savage ML-II is very reactive to barrel heat. I wonder if you had just shot one, swabbed the barrel, then shot the other, swabbed its barrel before going back to the first to shoot again, if that flyer round would not be an issue?
Thanks for the info! I'm looking at switching from slugs to a muzzle loader. How would you say the recoil compares on these muzzle loaders to a 12ga or 20ga 3" slug?
Very cool and thank you for sharing. Personally, I think you're over scoped for up to 300 yards, but to each his own. I want the lightest scope possible when I'm lugging a rifle downrange. Personally, I think a 309x40 or 3.5-10x40 Leupold is perfect for 300 yards. That's only 12.2 or 13.5 ounces respectively and you get a better field of view.
Awesome video and info! I am looking into getting the Remington Ultimate and was wondering about what scope to get for it. Could you explain to me a little bit more about your scope set up and how you sight it in? Also can/how do you use it with a turret system?
Hey brother. After many, many years of shooting I'm interested in getting started with muzzle loaders. I'm a member of Cowtown, would you be willing to give some tips and advice? Cold refreshments on me.......................
I was unaware they made those until just now...I will definitely try those thanks for the reference. I know they will shoot slower being 75 grains heavier but they work so well in the .45 I’m sure they are awesome.
how you take me to cowtown and we dial mine in,- I'll pay. I am going to trying the aerolite and magnum pellets and try it, my 140-150 BH209 shoots okay with the Remington green sabot/250bullet and the TC shockwave super glide/250. I may need to dial back the BH209 a bit.
@@timmywinslow it was great 3 777 magnum pellets and green sabot and Remington bullet 2380 avg and sub 1” at 100 2” at 200 and about 6” at 300. But the gun has shoot cool it heats up fast.
@@timmywinslow i have been doing this for several years now , and will share some knowledge gained, th bigger name bullet companies lie about thier bc and their terminal peformance more often than not . If you want quality results you need quality components and attention to detail . For best results you need to lose the sabots all together especially in your warm enviroment . Parkers/pittmans/fury are the best options for long range capability out of a muzzeloader. If you can switch to 45 caliber and if you can and its legal in your state switch to a breech plug and module syetem that uses rifle primers , ditch the factory breech plugs . I could go on for days but those are some of the biggest things.
Good thoughts...I’m running the CVA paramount system it is a .45 and they built the rifle around a 285gr power belt....have you looked at this system at all, if so what are your thoughts?
@@timmywinslow yes i have ,i plan on purchasing one unless i go with another smokeless build . They missed the mark with the placememt of the breechplug bug there is already aftermarket fixes for it for relativly cheap . I personally dont like the powerbelt elr either i think there are better bullets and if you get a sizing die you can really take advantage of really good bullets that you custom size to your specific barrel bore.
Nice video. Just ordered a Paramount for a December South Dakota whitetail hunt
Thanks man I’m trying to get a good load and bullet for my remmington UML

Weak. I’m getting 2280 with 105 BH 209 by weight on a Parker 300gr bullet sub .5 MOA.
I want a paramount so bad it’s so sad they’re discontinued

I use an electronic RCBS scale for every measurement…I own 2 CVA paramounts mounts at .45 caliber…anything else? 😂😂😂

Great video, I got the Cva paramount as well, shoots great 👍🏼
I love the CVA Paramount...its a little more complicated than the Remington but it shoots amazing!
I just got new bullets for the paramount from arrowhead rifles. They shoot much better groups. You should give them a try. He’s in phx

Very similar recoil, a little sharper but it does have a big push type feel more so than a centerfire rifle.

Yeah that’s a good setup for sure...can’t go wrong there🤙

Turret system for sure, sighted in at 100 yds but the zero is at 200yds for hunting scenarios. I’ll Go over exact setup in another video👍

Sounds good I’m hunting pretty steady until March so hit me up in the spring I’ve always got new projects to take to the range!

Will do. Good luck this season.
Refreshments are still on me.
Happy holidays
Have you tried the 325 grain 50 cal powerbelt ELR bullets in the Remington? If so how did the group?

You are really handicapping yourself with powerbelts if your shooting long .
What do you suggest besides Parker’s? My goal is finding the perfect blend of easy to use/long range hunting application
