I’ve had my system done by a “professional” shop , and they were a massive headache. After taking some electrical classes for my major at school , and watching your videos I’m happy to say I’m confident enough to start doing this myself ! Thank you for the amazing content !
@@heathheaton6486Watch Mark’s excellent fuse video. He tells us everything we need to know. It’s just about finding time to learn the easy way (vs electric shock therapy). 😂
Been installing for around 13 years. As a typical kid I assumed I knew everything. Found this channel along with others several years ago and you all have taught me to get back to the drawing board and study the mechanics that drive audio. I'm happy to live my life teaching others the right way rather then like me thinking i knew it all about installing and tuning, planning, equipment etc.. I'm a very proud audio fanatic and love everytime I turn a new fan into the audio department . Stay classy CAF (:
I installed a couple different full systems into my own car and installed head units in a bunch of friends cars. That was all back in the mid 90s. Later I spent 15 years working in Professional Audio Visual doing nearly all levels of House of Worship and Corporate AV design and installation. And now I'm getting back into Car Audio. =) Mark you've helped me redevelop the CAV bug along with expanding my interest in wood working in general. Thank you for 6 yrs of excellent effort and growth to make your channel what it is today. The best Car Audio training channel I've found!
I have a kicker cxa 400 .1 amp And a Skar Audio single 12 SDR sub with pre fab box at 1ohm rated at 600w rms since the amp is strong enough does that mean I will damage and ruin my amp and sub? Since it's underpowered I checked the amp Dyno sheet and it puts 514rms at 1ohm and 592 at (dynamic) This is the only amp I have And I was wondering if I could use it to power it as a temporary amp until I can get a better or would something bad happen if I do use this amp?😕
@@turbro7185 if ur running a 1 ohm load thats close enough like ^ he said, running over rms is when youll want to worry about damage, that sounds like a perfect set up
I did two installations so far with two amps and subwoofers in the last 8 years but watching your videos makes me realize that the equipment and technology has change so much that my next installation will be up to date with all your advice in the videos . keep it up
Installed professionally for 12 years and still doing it on the side. So I guess I’ve done a system or 2. Still love the videos have learned a lot watching!!!! Keep it up!!!!!

@@turbro7185 couple of things: be clearer in your questions/ formatting as your post isn't the easiest to understand. Also I'd suggest an audio forum where you can get more detailed answers than you will under the comment section of a RUclips video.....
@@turbro7185 having said that your amp should push that sub with no problems. It's not underpowered. According to you the amps specs are 500~ RMS at 1ohm and the sub is rated for 600 watts RMS, that's only slightly off which in this case isn't an issue or enough to make a noticeable difference in listening. Install them correctly and you should be fine. When in doubt, which it seems like you are, give the money you're saving to someone who does quality installs. You'll appreciate it down the road. Bigger/ more expensive amps and subs do not equal better output.

I’ve done 3 systems in my personal vehicles. The first 1 was in the 90’s. I have learned a ton watching your and 5 star audio channels on RUclips. I always look forward to your video’s! Keep up the great work!
I have installed one system so far. I learned a lot doing that install. I made sure to do plenty of research before doing it and that was when I found your RUclips channel and I am hooked now! I absolutely love how you breakdown in detail everything that I would need to know before, during, and after an installation. Thank you for all your info and knowledge! I am a lifelong CarAudioFabrication RUclips channel fan!
I started hooking up systems when I was 14 and did around 5 installs for friends that were older and got their own cars. Then over the years I did a few here and there. I think I've done maybe 10 or so installs. And as I got older I got better with patience and doing it right. And also being older and having more money really makes it a hell of a lot easier getting needed supplies lol. Man, the crap I cobbled together when I was 14 was atrocious but, I still got it to work and luckily no melt downs (even though there probably should have been). Side note: I started doing this in 91' and in shop class the teacher let me build a few boxes. First I built my home speaker cabinets and got a A++ then he let me build a bandpass and 2 slant face (1 for my self and one for a friend).
2 for me. constantly tweaking and upgrading my current one. Can't wait for a new car to start fresh w/ higher end products and actually knowing how to do it.
11:21 I was wondering was that an A or 4 lol. I also make a list of potential equipment pieces before I start, just in case something is either unavailable or have had a drastic price increase. Having options helps me stay in the budget. Keep up the good work my guy. I love what you do for the community
I've installed hundreds of systems, SQL geared, SPL geared, and average system upgrades. I used to work at an audio and accessories shop. I've learned more about installations because of your videos, than being taught at the shop. I left because they'd get pissed I'd take to long going an extra step to do something the right way. They were quantity over quality. I prefer quality over quantity. I do my own builds as a side hussle now.
I’ve got a 3 amp system that’s brutally loud but still sound pretty damn good for the relatively small amount of money I’ve spent. I installed the entire system myself included custom built enclosure for my 15” sundown subwoofer and also some really nice small birch enclosures for my rear coaxials. Also made custom door inserts to mount 6x9 coaxials and a 6.5 mid bass for each door.
hey perhaps u could assist me in my build im looking to add a second amp for speakers only and i already have added a ported box which holds two 12 inch subs. and the amp for that is 800w
I have done one very, very poor quality, ultra cheap single subwoofer/amp install on my old ford ranger, at a point in time where the limit of my knowledge ended with my IT tech training. these days, i know a lot more about the process and how to do it right. a lot of that due to your channel and the enthusiasm you have for this getting me to really sink my teeth in and understand what im doing. my big limiting factor is cashflow, so now i spend time every week or so, putting together full audio builds in various carts around the internet, and doing diagrams for how id put them together. i never get to hit the ORDER button, but its still fun none the less.
I started in car audio in 1986 and did a TON of systems back then. It's been many years though, so I'm going back through and reacquainting myself with the latest upgrades and best practices. I have bought the car of my dreams and want to do one more system. Unfortunately, I don't have the shop anymore, so I'll be doing some of it without the perfect tools. But, I LOVE seeing these videos and reliving my old passion. Great job!
I've done 3 systems now. First up 76 GMC with whatever used amps and speakers I could gather up. After I ran my amps separate and both directly to the battery, grounded to whatever, ground loop problems from hell, etc. I started watching these videos. Now my old truck has newer gear, ran correctly, great sound in a really small area. I moved onto the 70 Pontiac. I'll never find the money for Audio Control but I'm confident in the 2-amp/speaker/subwoofer setup I've planned. Thanks for all the great videos and I think my trunk is going to come out sick because of those Fabrication videos as well!
1 system in my own car consisting of 2 (old school) Alpine amps, 2 x 10" subs + self made ported box, AudioControl passive crossover, Sony head unit with an external CD changer mounted in the trunk, Boston Acoustics satellite front speakers and I forgot what brand 1 pair of rear speakers. That was back in the early 90s. I've never got back into this hobby after selling that car. I've grown too old I guess. To me the fun part of this hobby is the installation... looking for ways to hide wires and all equipment so it looks as neat as possible. That's why I enjoy watching your video clips. I regret having no pictures of my own work. Wish I had a digital camera back then.
I have done a dozen or so. back in the day i had loose amps in trunk and wires everywhere! now i go for looks and function. i love to research and see how other people do it for ideas. i didnt have you tube growing up so it was trial and error. you have an awesome channel and you explain things so well.
I've done about 4-5 full systems over my lifetime. Done a few HU installs only as well. Working on the 5th system now. This channel is the reason I got a router and table.
I used to build boxes and install systems in friends cars in high school. I never burned anything down, and everything always sounded minty... I think I'm going to build one for my jeep now.. You've inspired me, sir.
About a dozen. My first was in a '66 Mercury Comet when I was 17(50 now): Majestic HU in factory opening. Majestic 40W booster to Yamaha 6.5s in the front doors. Majestic 150W rms amp to 2 12" Stillwater Kickers in a home-made box in the trunk. Currently working on 2 full systems. My wife's Highlander: Pioneer touchscreen HU, 6.5" components in front, 6.5" 2-ways in rear, 8" sub in sealed home-made box, 900W rms 5-channel amp. My Ranger: Pioneer HU, 2-way 6×8s in factory holes, 2 - 8" midbass under the rear jumpseats, and a quick(as it gets)-removable 15" for the low-lows, 2 - 900W rms 5-channel amps. Need to order wire, distribution blocks and several assorted doo-dads, assemble her box, build another of mine for the second 8", and build the box for my 15". Fun fun fun!
I was a professional installer for about 5-6 yrs. I installed 1000's of head units and door speakers. Amp install, probably still in the 100's approaching a 1000. I only really remember the unique ones or the crazy customers. I still have stories that most who haven't done it as career, find it difficult to believe! You're videos help me stay current, things have changed so much!
I've installed around 15 systems over the span of a lot of years. Always learning, always interested in the next system to be better than the last. Thanks for sharing your knowledge in an entertaining way!
I have never installed an Amp. I only installed aftermarket radio and speaker. I'm doing my research. This is by far the best video I have seen on how to do this!
I’ve installed five systems in my lifetime. The information provided in this video is extremely helpful, well explained, and very valuable. The math makes sense and all the right variables are discussed to get the correct cabling sizes for best performance and safety. I actually purchased the KnuKonceptz cabling kit and distribution blocks after seeing your recommendations and demos in this video and several of your other videos. Thanks for sharing.
This the absolute best channel for this type of content, I am 48 and yes I’m still into car audio! 😂 but I’ve done installs since the age of 16 and this is my go to for information , Love this content!
My friends and I liked to mess around with sub woofers in highschool. I did a deck in my '87 Ford escort. Later in life I did a full system in a 2008 Mazda 3. I went all in on it... Speakers, deck, amps and sub woofer. I even did some sound deadening on that and even built the trunk floor/sub box. Was very proud of it. I now have a 2017 Subaru WRX. It's going to take awhile to save up the money but I will be going full send on it. Kenwood eXcelon speakers and amps, with duel kicker L7 10 inch subs. I'll also be doing a DSP for the first time with that build. I'm looking forward to it, but like I said, it'll be awhile!
Have been doing car audio for 20 years, and Likely well over 100 installs. Even now I keep learning and increasing my knowledge, thanks for the videos!
By no means am I an expert. I just have a passion for car audio. So far I've worked on probably 5 cars including my own (yes I'm young in game lol) and I always come to your channel when I need to learn about new tech or a new concept. Keep up the great content. Love from the Caribbean.
I'm so happy you made this video. I've had an aftermarket head unit running some CT Sounds Speakers and a Dayton Audio subwoofer powered by a Skar Amplifier for sometime now. Just this week I picked up a Focal 4-channel amp and have been researching how to integrate it with my wiring. This came at the perfect time.
Have done a few basic head unit, amp, and sub installs. And just last week I did an install of component speakers up front and coaxial in the rear with a kicker key amp. Watched a lot of your videos beforehand, love how you break everything down and explain it all. Keep up the awesome work! 👍🏻👍🏻
I have installed so many head units over the 30+ yrs I cant remember them all . and as far as full systems about ten over the yrs Nothing to big untill my current system its 5500 watts a single 18" woofer 8" mid bass in all four doors 6.5 " mids and 8 tweeters total . extra batt. lots of 0 gauge wire etc. have learned quite a bit from your vids over the last couple yrs. your channel is the best on youtube for learning the howto and why nots of car audio fab. thanks and keep them comming BASSHEADS FOR LIFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I installed a “system” once when I was 17 years old in my parents full size Dodge conversion van using miscellaneous parts and various speakers, amps, and equalizer that people gave me because I didn’t have any money. I’m 42 now and helping my son set up a system in his first car. Have learned so much from your videos in order to help him do it right, or at least better than I did at that age.
I installed for a few years about 15 years ago, and a dozen or so systems since. But we used the same concepts just the tuning side has improved so much. You would just have to sit with a screw driver and rta for hours.
I’ve done about 20 systems already ranging from a conservative 600w system to a 7000w competition system. Your videos have helped me so much over the years and I only learn more from you every time you post. My only wish is to be able to afford the fabrication tools to be able to create the masterpieces you do. Thank you so much for your time and your knowledge. I am greatly appreciative!

Done 2 years ago, About to do 1 in my new car but i'm going for decent quality this time. I've spent a lot of money on the system so doing a fair bit of research atm so I don't end up ruining the whole build. Have found your videos awesome thanks heaps.
I’ve done several installs, used to work for a shop that did car audio and remote starters. Working on my second for myself but it is by far my most in depth and advanced. Your channel has been an awesome guide as I plot out what I’m doing.
I have never installed an audio system. And like most of my other projects, of course, I think of a very complicated system. Since I didn't know anything about enclosure sizes or components that are considered for these builds, I have been watching many of these videos the past few days. I have been finding them very helpful. Things that I still have not had answered are things like, "where do I need to be putting each speaker, and in what orientation?" and "what does the actual wiring process look like in the car and the placement of the amps?" I saw some of your videos that were explaining the different locations and orientations for subs and one that explained how to position the tweeters in the a-pillar. It may be due to the fact that I just started looking at videos a few days ago, but I haven't seen much info on anything in between. I would like to if that isn't something you haven't done. I have watched the videos explaining how you chose the size of wires, and how things connect, but I would love to see the process when you are working on the whole system wiring on the car. Like I said before, I thought of a very complex first project. I am planning for my next car build. Even though I don't have the car yet, I like to have a fairly thorough plan before I even purchase the car. One of the aspects of the build was a cool idea, but I realized that, for it work how I want it to, it would require two different sources. And yes, that means separate sound systems. I am definitely okay with hearing some feedback and criticism. However, I will warn you though, all I need is the to be a possibility in order to go through with my projects.
Great video with loads of useful info, thank you Mark!! I've installed MANY systems in the 30+ years I've been in to cars but never too old or too experienced to learn new stuff!! :)
I've done a few over my lifetime (I'm 47). However, I am fixing the installer issues that I discovered and improving the system. I saw your recommendation on 14ga speaker wire. The installer used 16ga, including my subwoofer. Ouch. I'm making those corrections after seeing this and your other many videos I have watched in the past week. I have learned a TON from you. Keep it going!
Sending tons of thanks from Egypt I have followed you for tha last 3 months while building my system, bought $500 wiring from New Concepts to support my $3000 gear Results are exceptional Mark! ... You are the best 👌 keep it up man
I've done more installs than I can count, little brother went to school for it,so constantly doing it on the side.good to see someone not just putting equipment in, someone actually doing the math behind it 👍
I've been installing for only about 7 years. Usually 2-4 jobs a day, depending on what exactly needs to be done. I know i haven't seen it all and i know I'll never stop learning.
I've done 3 systems so far. I'm really starting to get a understanding about the electrical and amp settings though. At first I would throw it all in now I'm taking my time and planning it all out. That's why when my wifes friend asked me to do a complete install I told her I need a cc1 and dd1 so I can better set gain and crossover. I have used a ddm but would perfer the other. I really enjoy your videos. They always make me think about what I can do better and what I havent thought off. Next on My list is learning how to build a speaker box. Keep up the good work. Wish I could find someone with your knowledge to apprentice me.

Some people are great at what they do but are poor teachers/instructors. Some people are great teachers but don't really know how to demonstrate their work. This dude is awesome at teaching and demonstrating. I've learned so much already concerning car audio systems with just a few videos watched. Keep up the great work dude, that's why you keep on getting so many views.
Mainly just helped diagnose various malfunctions in friends or families systems. Although, when I turned 16, well technically before I had officially turned 16 and could drive on my own, I bought my first car, and put a Sony deck in it. Added Pioneer 5 1/2" rounds to the doors and Pioneer 6 × 9's to the rear dash. Then bought a set of MTX Audio 12" RoadThunder subs in their factory sealed box with the matching 250watt RoadThunder amp. The car was a typical first beater but I loved my system, so did everyone else who jumped in to run a muck around town with me. One day I parked my car right outside my girlfriend's house, ran inside to drop something off, was less than 5 minutes. Ran back to my car, jumped in and hit play on my music, and could tell something was way wrong. I turned around to find my subs, amp, and capacitor were all gone and all that remained were the 4 rubber feet from the amp and the 2 mounting rings for the cap, since those were all secured to the metal floor of the trunk, and just my wiring, bare and exposed protruding from the carpet floor liner. Middle of the day, busy area JUST across the street from a beehive-like Dairy Queen that was lined with customers. Not 1 person said they noticed anything occur near my car in the 4 minutes it took someone to unlock the doors through the barely cracked drivers window, pop the trunk, and physically rip my entire system from the trunk of my car, and vanish. That was almost 11 years ago. Found out over 6 years ago who had done it and that they still had everything they stole from me. Contacted LE to tell them what I found out, and they told me theyd try calling the person on my behalf and ask them if they'll return my property, otherwise, "that's definitely unfortunate". Eventually the thief learned that LE wanted nothing to do with it, and about every 6 months or so I am taunted by the person as they rub in my face that they got away with my system and still enjoy it as it's hooked up in their car to this day. Truth be told, the whole experience made me quite bitter over it all, and I have yet to make the decision to go ahead and install a new one in my current vehicle. Although, tbh...it would be pretty vindicating to install one that's 10 times better than my original, so they can be cocky and dumb all they want to, because I have the superior system anyway. Maybe someday soon
Been 30 years since I installed my first audio system...front door speakers, amp and dual 15" subs in rear. Just purchased a new-to-me 2016 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro and I'm watching your videos to learn what's changed before I pull the trigger on installing a new system. Great videos and appreciate you sharing your knowledge! 😉👍
ive done one system, but I know you go above and beyond in explaining wiring and it helped me identify how many amps I am using, so now im not second guessing myself if i needed to upgrade my alternator
Been doing car audio for prob 20 years but still learning from your videos on how to better my installs. Thanks for the videos man and keep them coming
I don’t have any experience installing amplifiers. Heck, that’s why I’m here! I definitely appreciate the share. I realize this is a old video, but this Is exactly what I was looking for.
I've installed a few of my own systems. Now I'm looking to install one in my daughter's car. Great content given in this video. It will definitely help. Thanks a lot
Iv installed 2 complete systems and 2 installs to add an amp & subwoofer. All on my previous vehicles. My first was on my 2012 impreza. 4 Kicker door speakers pushed by a Rochford Fosgate punch amp and 2 Sony Xplod 12s on a sony xplod 1k watt power amp, ported box. I wired a new harness with a LOC so I didn't have to replace the headunit. I absolutely loved that car. Second. Replaced my rear 6x9s and added a LOC for a kicker pt250 10in sub w/ built in amp in my Buick. Third. I finally gave my 06 F150 an audio overhaul. Kicker D series 6x9s in the front/rear doors. JVL double din touchscreen/BT headunit and a 12in Kicker comp-R, came with a nice ported box. I probably spend a bit more than I should have considering the trucks age.. but, it's done now so.. lol oh well. And my last one is on my daily driver, 2018 subaru impreza. Iv already put a LOC on a new factory harness and added a 12in Kicker pushed by an alpine mrv-m500 amp. Currently Saving for the second amp/ door speakers and sound deadening equipment to add on at a later date. This one's going to look the cleanest so I can't be as sloppy as some of my previous work. I haven't destroyed anything yet however I have certainly pissed off my wife a few times for spending as much time as I do on these projects. And you know what?? she'll get over it LOL. It took way more time researching and learning about ohms/wiring sequences and proper installation than the actual install itself.. not to mention looking for the best quality equipment. If I had any advice to give it would be this. Depending on your knowledge/experience with car audio. After figuring out you want/need.. Put in the work to educate yourself on the basics and the specifics. Make sure you know what equipment you need so your not burning up your new speakers, subwoofer and amplifiers.. or worse case, you or your car.
Never did a professional system, only beer garden type car audio installations. You know, pulling the AC Delco head unit out, and tapping in a $35 7 band equalizer/amp. Used to get them from Radio Shack (back in the old days of dinosaurs), and hey, it made me happy 😀 I really enjoy your videos for the great info you provide. I'm learning a lot for my 1 month old 2017 VW golf! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
I'm curious how your system turns out. I had quality equipment installed in my '04 GTI and it sounded terrible. So bad that I took it out and just listened to the factory system. I was so disappointed. That reminds me, I need to sell the JL Audio Stealthbox I bought for that car. Sadly I no longer have the car.
I've done maybe 5. All personal vehicles. Each time has been better than the we last.my next build which I am planning currently will be much better thanks to you. So thank you!
I'm doing my first ever installation with a "carputer" of my own design and software. I'm going with cheapish equipment but everything should be upgradable. Thanks for the amazing inside it's really helping me putting this together. Keep up the good work!
Love your videos. Excellent production quality, easy to follow and very informative. I have done 3 or 4 basic systems in my cars in the past, but am now doing some bigger systems in my boats. The one i am working on now is 8 speakers, 2 subs and 2 amps. Keep up the good work.
I've done 4, 3 were full over hauls, and 1 quick upgrade. I'm about to start my biggest one yet on my celica gtfour, rockford fosgate everything except the head unit, your videos have been super helpful for my prep work thus far.
Full complete installs running wires and everything... tomorrow will be my 6th in I guess 10years. Tomorrow is for a buddy with a box I designed. Pretty excited.
First time viewer. I really like your presentation. I have installed one stereo system. With your teaching here I feel confident that if I can plan out a clean & efficient sound system. Thank you.
I love planning builds and hope I get to help someone plan and build their's in the future. I've done 5 builds for myself, the most recent one has been a great success thus far.
I've been designing and installing for @ 25 years. I've been watching your channel and several others for quite some time. Some things I already know, but there are many things that I don't and I like to learn about them. Also there have been a few times where I've learned a much easier way to do some of the things I already know
Installing now my first real system, in a 91 Corvette. I have put in other audio before, just not a full build. This system is - 14 speakers 2 amps JVC head unit. All purchased at Crutchfield. Blew my first sub in about an hour. Crutchfield did a no questions asked swap asap which has sweet. I wish I would have watched your videos first then I wouldn't have made so many mistakes. Maybe?!
Only installed one, but second one was done at a store. However my 3rd system will be done by me. I’ve gain much more knowledge on what to do from you and other you tubers I watch.
I work on the mechanical side of cars but also worked in car audio for a year or two. Ever car I’ve owned has had a system I installed. Each getting better with the next car. I’m super proud of my current setup but I think I’m gonna have to ad a second battery now. Headlights starting to dim under heavy bass load. I’ve done Probly 20 systems in the past 2-3 years. I’ve added secondary battery’s but never a bigger alternator. But I’ve done some sketchy systems, big systems, gone in behind people and cleaned up their rat nests of wiring, etc. I feel like I’ve seen it all. Now I usually pull all seats out and pull up carpet to do everything super neat like and when it comes to my own system, I don’t spare a penny to do it right
Crazy coincidence: I'm adding a JL Audio 12TW3 sub to my car. Already have an AudioControl D6.1200 for my 6 speakers, and I just got the L1.800 for the sub! I came here to check power and fuse specs - you're site is excellent! - and saw this video with the same amps! PS I just installed that exact same Sony head unit in my son's Jeep and it rocks!
Never Installed a system, I have done odds and ends like new decks or install subs stuff like that but never a full system. But I want to install a full system in my Ford ranger and that is what bought me to your channel. Thanks
I have installed 2 systems. Both for myself. One when I was like 16. A small sub setup. Altho functional I’m sure I could have done better. I’m an alarms system installer so paying someone to do what I love seems silly. I enjoy learning about the car audio from your channel and I may want to go into this feild in the future. It seems like a good area for my skills and I like to run cable. I love that you teach how to properly mount things and make good connections when doing terminations. Stranded wire can be a pain and I especially liked your video where explain what not to do 😅. I see it all the time. Even in my own feild. Makes me sick 🤢. Keep up the great work and thanks for teaching me and others about the nitty gritty. Sometimes you need to know how to sound deaden things. I aspire to know as much as you one day.
Never installed a car system ever, had a botched install done 20 years ago , It never sounded right the subs were under powered the list goes on. Watching these video in 2021 alot has changed I need to upgrade my headunit in my 92 Foxbody mustang this gives me a lot to chew on. Thanks for all the great info. The Alt will be upgraded this spring LOL.
Can you help me? I dont understand how Im supposed to control the audio positioning on the HU of they are connected straight from the car (not stock hu) to the amp.. and.. can you skip the mono cable and bridge the one sub? Im trying to install a 5 speaker (front LR component speakers, rear LR full range speakers, and one sub)... thanks
4 for my own vehicles- that's top to bottom with sound deadening, door speakers and new wiring. 3 were dual amp installs. Everything you said here was gold star info even for more experienced installers. 👌🏾👌🏾
I’ve installed four complete systems . Three didn’t have a second amp and sub box. I’ve been a big time hobbyist that loves music . Only loud music . Thanks for video
I probably hooked up 20 systems. I used to work at best buy install bay for the summer after I graduated and been hooking up systems out my driveway mabey 2 or 3x out the year. It's great to see the professional way of doing things.
I’ve never installed a system before but I am a certified Cisco low voltage electrician. Love your stuff and I’m looking forward to getting my install done soon
Mark dude! Love the channel brother, I've been a mechanic for 25+ years, spending the last 6 in my own shop building custom cars. This summer I used your content, and Audio Frog's content, to help me design and build a $20K system for a customer's work truck. He loved it so much I'm currently building another system for his 89' Cadillac and I find myself referencing your material again. My sincerest thank you for your contribution to motorsports. Being in Canada It's difficult for me to buy products through you, I hope you can keep producing content man. I enjoy your sense of humour!!
I know this is late and might not get seen, but I've installed 6 systems. Albeit 3 of those is just a complete re-do of wiring and upgrading of amplifier/subwoofer of my truck system, with another one coming soon that's finally to the point of new alternator at the time of install.
1st install since I was in college. At 5:56 you use the 2 ohm rating of the amps to calculate current. Is this because the speakers you use are 2 ohm and that if our speakers are 4 ohm we should use the 4 ohm rating in the calculation? Thanks
Back in the day around 8 systems but it's been 30 years! So with all the new technology and speakers I need to brush up. One of the last systems was Alpine 7905, ADS PH-15, JBL To-1 and T-61's with Nakamichi Sp-40's and 10" Fosgate in a 92 Civic Hatch back and oh boy did she rock!
I am starting my 5th system (laying down sound dampening material now). Wanted to confirm my wire sizes, fuse sizes, and pointers as I haven't done a full system in 10 years. Installing a new head unit and 8 speakers plus 2 parallel subs powered by 3 amps in a 4th gen Pontiac Firebird. I am upgrading the OEM alternator to a 145 Amp and wanted to make sure that is enough or if I needed caps. I really appreciate your run through and updated knowledge on equipment as my experience is ancient.
Yes please. More. I just got into all this car audio. Ive had systems installed but now I'm all old and my midlife crisis was buying some terminator 12s and all new kenwood head and 6x8s for my crown vic. 800w Mrs mono and cerwin vega 1600w 4 channel. I got the bass hooked up but I'm waiting on some 0 gauge to finish the install. Ive been watching trying to learn how to male this sound as good as possible.
I haven't done any. I just got a pontiac vibe, no radio signal. Tore it apart, swapped in the radio from my parts vibe, it worked in the parts vibe but didn't work in mine. Tried to track down wires, find colors, find connections, didn't work. Checking voltage and continuity, nothing. I'm at my watts end. Then my friend chirps up and tells me to Check my amp. It was also at that time, 4 days in, I think to you know, check a wiring digram. I track down the wires, hook everything up, jump the amp wires, and bam I have sound. Videos like this help me learn hoe to do stuff like that. Thank you for helping the community, it's helpful to watch as we all learn
Great videos , thanks for explaining everything like you do , I've installed 100s of systems in my life , I'm just now starting to learn ohms , LOL I was the guy in the hood who did system's , I learned as I went along ,now I'm 45 years old and can only do my own system's , but know I take lots of time , like day's , I'm new to RUclips videos , so I watch videos and learn a lot ! Thanks
I’ve installed many but nothing like this. I would say atleast over 25 years. I’ve evolved from my first install on own cars. But getting much into installation I have learned a lot from you, EXO and Steve Mead (SMD). Thanks Mark!!!
I just purchased one of your custom blue prints and even though it looks basic I can see that you took everything into consideration to optimize the speaker. I just want to say thank you. From DeAngelo
I've installed almost all of my audio in my vehicles since I started driving (30+ years ago). I'm certainly no expert or professional, but it's a lot of fun and very rewarding. I'm currently running a DSP-tuned active 2-way + powered sub system and would like to eventually add dedicated 2"'-4" mids in the A pillars. Keep up the great videos!
I’ve had my system done by a “professional” shop , and they were a massive headache. After taking some electrical classes for my major at school , and watching your videos I’m happy to say I’m confident enough to start doing this myself ! Thank you for the amazing content !
Doing it myself too, just had some electric shock therapy 👍
Also your local tweakers are a good help
I've done it with no school back before there was a RUclips 🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What size fuse for 1/0 wire
Mark you've helped me redevelop the CAV bug along with expanding my interest in wood working in general. Thank you for 6 yrs of excellent effort and growth to make your channel what it is today. The best Car Audio training channel I've found!
I have a kicker cxa 400 .1 amp
And a Skar Audio single 12 SDR sub with pre fab box at 1ohm rated at 600w rms since the amp is strong enough does that mean I will damage and ruin my amp and sub? Since it's underpowered I checked the amp Dyno sheet and it puts 514rms at 1ohm and 592 at (dynamic)
This is the only amp I have
And I was wondering if I could use it to power it as a temporary amp until I can get a better or would something bad happen if I do use this amp?😕
@@turbro7185 with how close it is the the nominal rms, me personally, wouldn’t even worry for new amp

I had that sub before and I decided to get the Skar 800.1 so I would have that head room for my amp so it wouldn't get too hot

Dude I just bought a Jetta and started matting my trunk. Just found your channel and the fact you also did a Jetta is a blessing
I’ve installed 4 systems in my life. I’m planning my 5th one now. Thank you for the excellent content.
2 for me. constantly tweaking and upgrading my current one.
He clearly says... 43 amps, so it's a "4"
I've installed hundreds of systems, SQL geared, SPL geared, and average system upgrades.
Also made custom door inserts to mount 6x9 coaxials and a 6.5 mid bass for each door.
hey perhaps u could assist me in my build im looking to add a second amp for speakers only and i already have added a ported box which holds two 12 inch subs. and the amp for that is 800w
just had some electric shock therapy 👍
I’m 14 I’ve installed about 7 but these tips and tricks help me out so much thank you
I have done a dozen or so. back in the day i had loose amps in trunk and wires everywhere! now i go for looks and function. i love to research and see how other people do it for ideas. i didnt have you tube growing up so it was trial and error. you have an awesome channel and you explain things so well.
My first was in a '66 Mercury Comet when I was 17(50 now):
Majestic HU in factory opening. Majestic 40W booster to Yamaha 6.5s in the front doors. Majestic 150W rms amp to 2 12" Stillwater Kickers in a home-made box in the trunk.
Currently working on 2 full systems.
My wife's Highlander:
Pioneer touchscreen HU, 6.5" components in front, 6.5" 2-ways in rear, 8" sub in sealed home-made box, 900W rms 5-channel amp.
My Ranger:
Pioneer HU, 2-way 6×8s in factory holes, 2 - 8" midbass under the rear jumpseats, and a quick(as it gets)-removable 15" for the low-lows, 2 - 900W rms 5-channel amps.
Been Installing now for about 35 years now , like learning how other people approach installation issues.
Can I add new amp and sub to a car with a factory amp I upgraded the head unit
I'm 55 years old been in car audio since I was 15 and still watch each video you put out thank you I have learned a lot from you
Have been doing car audio for 20 years, and Likely well over 100 installs.

7 systems since 1990. Each one better than the one before...... especially the last two thanks to your videos. Thanks and keep it up
I’ve done several installs, used to work for a shop that did car audio and remote starters.
Things that I still have not had answered are things like, "where do I need to be putting each speaker, and in what orientation?" and "what does the actual wiring process look like in the car and the placement of the amps?"
I saw some of your videos that were explaining the different locations and orientations for subs and one that explained how to position the tweeters in the a-pillar.
Where were you when i needed this a week ago? I already did this setup and I literally finished it this morning

This dude is awesome at teaching and demonstrating. I've learned so much already concerning car audio systems with just a few videos watched. Maybe someday soon
had done more than 15 installs over the last 10 years, and learned a lot from you at the past 2 years. i wish to have equipment like you have....

I have never ever ever not learned anything watching your videos!! my #1 youtube channel!!!
Never did a professional system, only beer garden type car audio installations. You know, pulling the AC Delco head unit out, and tapping in a $35 7 band equalizer/amp. Used to get them from Radio Shack (back in the old days of dinosaurs), and hey, it made me happy 😀
I really enjoy your videos for the great info you provide.
Dude you are the man,, it seems more complicated than it actually is but I definitely appreciate all you do
I've installed 6. All as a hobbyist. Love what you do you explain it to where even I can understand what your talking about
First time viewer.
Also there have been a few times where I've learned a much easier way to do some of the things I already know
Been installing all my own stuff ,friends, family for about 20 years it's my hobby love it
Installing now my first real system, in a 91 Corvette.
I’ve been professionally installing for 6 years now so definitely a few systems
Awesome 👍
One of the last systems was Alpine 7905, ADS PH-15, JBL To-1 and T-61's with Nakamichi Sp-40's and 10" Fosgate in a 92 Civic Hatch back and oh boy did she rock!
first real system! Thanks for making this so basic and easy to follow!
Keep up the great videos!
i’m 15 and i’m on my first system, i’ve got 2 12s and i’m thinking about upgrading door speakers. thanks for the lessons boss!❤
I've never installed a system before - planning my first!
Good luck !!
You got this man👍🏽 lots of help with RUclips and from local audio shops!
