hit me with your own top 5 if you got one
Ghostwire Tokyo
Triangle Strategy
FE: Three Hopes
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak
Sunbreak is technically an expansion but it adds so much more to the game it feels like a new game. New monsters, new areas, new skills, new locales, new difficulty rank, new quest style where you can hunt with NPC’s now. It’s honestly phenomenal.
@@lipsontajgordongrunk4328 so, honest opinion. Is ghostwire any good?
I'm still hesitant.
@@RichmenInc I loved Ghostwrite but I can really see how it's not for everyone. I just loved exploring an empty city, dr stranging ghosts and stuff though.
You can usually find it on pretty good sales at this point as well.
A few months ago I watched my friend play a few hours of Vampire Survivers gameplay and I honestly love it.
@@BabysitterSky okay now I wanna play it. Lol
I’m here for my grain of salt 🧂
Salt Daddy
And the pizza
😂😂😂😂😂
Haaaaaa he says that a lot!
And he always says “barely an inconvenience”
Oh wait
@@SP41891 salt Bae😂
Sifu is one of the best games I've played in the last 4-5 years. The combat is just so well designed and addicting. It is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time now.
Much better looking game coming to game pass next month . Stuffed if i can remember the name but you shoot , use items on the screen and can use martial arts lol
Yeah but it’s on Epic
Mad Max was sooooo much fun. Such an underrated game. Can be bought for peanuts now as well!
Borrowed it off a mate and it was really was something else. Weird, atmospheric. Just brilliant.
It had a few flaws but it really was an awesome game I honestly just think it was mostly just bad timing on the release cause the Arkham style combat and the Ubisoft style clear the camp and climb the tower to clear the map sorta thing was super played out at that point which is arguably half the game.
I feel like a good remaster of this game would do it some good cause the awesome stuff that's there really stands out like the cool horror like moments, the crazy electrical sand storm things, the car customization, the vehicle combat (which was fun but a little repetitive) there was a lot good there but I feel like it needs to be introduced to a new audience cause a lot of people overlooked it so they need to do a remaster that comes with a nice little added on story DLC or something so they can get some extra eyes on it.
Has there been a update on the remakes yet? For one and two think remedy where behind it?
@@MacIRLShorts Yah it was Remedy that made it I'm pretty sure, haven't heard anything about any remake though.
Yessssss! I picked this up on PS Plus years ago and it was easily my game of the year! Just epic!
Vampire survivors is my new favorite game. It’s not a beautifully designed masterpiece like elden ring, it’s just my favorite because it’s just plain simple fun. The industry needs more games like that
I didn't think much of it initially but I've now sunk 50 hours into it so far
I had to go cold turkey and stop playing for awhile. Forgot I had a job and a life for a couple weeks!
I replayed Mad Max this year also.
What a gem 💎
You're the man, Jake!
I am indeed one of those people that picks one game and plays it forever before moving on, but I’m also a nerd who loves learning about games! That’s why I love your take on games so much. Thank you!
thanks Heather! always good to know
I’d love to see a Mad Max video. I can’t put my finger on what makes it stick out but it’s very special to me and I’d love to see you talk about it
I really appreciate you not doing a typical top 10 format and just talking about what you personally liked rather than what’s mainstream
My top games this year so far are Horizon FW, Raft (since it hit 1.0, I'm including it), Coromon, and Iron Lung.
Currently playing Rogue Legacy 2, Powerwash Sim (again, now that it's also 1.0), Teardown (also hit 1.0 this year), and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Enjoying them all!
As for what I'm looking forward to this year still: God of War Ragnarok, Stray, Hogwarts Legacy, Callisto Protocol, Grounded 1.0, and Sons of the Forest.
Elden Ring and Forbidden West are by far the best games I've played this year. Sunbreak is awesome too but I just started that one. Dying Light 2 was not nearly as good as I was hoping but I still like it.
Elden Ring and Forbidden West are the Only games I bought at release this year, all the rest are on sale purchases of old games. And yes they are the best with Elden Ring taking the top spot considering I am still playing it whereas Forbidden West became the Forgotten West once ER came out.
@@navtektv yea I can't believe they released forbidden West so close to ER. I knew once ER came out I wouldn't touch anything else so I waited til I was done to buy forbidden West. ER is probably my favorite all time game but forbidden West isn't too far behind imo. I thought it was awesome.
If Bayonetta 3 turns out fantastic, it might just take Game of the Year for me, Bayonetta 2 is already one of my favourite games of all time so i hope Bayonetta 3 lives up to it :)
please god
I've replayed 1 few months ago. so good. Never played 2. Cause it didn't have a playstation release. I think..
@@RichmenInc have you got a Switch? if you have Bayonetta 2 is absolutely incredible :)
@@James-gj8rn haha okay you've just made me really happy.
Friend of mine bought me a Switch Lite 3 days ago with that Zelda game. I was just 2 hours in. But knowing that Bayonetta is on Switch. Yes baby yes...
@@RichmenInc go and play it, it's absolutely amazing
Ori 2 and vampire survivors for now.
This year has been very good, Tunic is my favorite.
still gotta get to Tunic..thanks for the reminder
I just finished road 96 thanks to gamepass and wow I absolutley loved it, it’s just such a good game and honestly a different experience, it’s also not that long so you can do it in bite sized pieces, overall can’t recommend it enough
Imagine if the Sifu devs made a Mortal Kombat game with co-op and versus using that same engine. That would be sick. Like fighting gangs of enemies (and bosses) in big, open, intricate levels as opposed to a flat stage with a backdrop. Would make a great Shaolin Monks sequel.
It's called Absolver.
@@toval6255 yup
Jake you get me through the days brotha.. keep up the good work!!
Honestly as weird as it was, I enjoyed GHOSTWIRE Tokyo a lot. it’s stiff and clunky but it was really fun and I enjoyed the slower combat with an emphasis on positioning and spacing versus the usual twitch based action we usually get in these game. Combat felt methodical, especially on higher difficulties. I also loved the visuals and the Japanese folklore. For an open world game I also appreciated it didn’t overstay its welcome. I nearly 100% it under 30 hours played and I feel like too many games try to push you to be playing for hundreds of hours but this one felt nice and concise.
Thanks man, I might check this game out on payday
Okay.. I'm sold
Damnn nice review! Definitely check it out now !
Horrible story set in a soulless boring world with a bunch of fetch quests littered around the map disguised as side quests. The voice acting and story was decent as for the gameplay well.... exactly like you said slow and clunky it gets real boring real fast, not to mention the story is horribly short I got it done in 10 hours.
Couldn't agree more. Playing it at the moment and loving it. Very atmospheric and solid combat styles!
You know why a lot of us are here? Because we like listening to Jake. Jake has such a great VOICE. Lol like such a good narrating about nerdy things voice. It’s so natural too
I"m completely addicted to Vampire Survivors, thanks for making a video about it!
Bought a Quest 2 headset this year and have been blown away by VR. Played Resident Evil 4 for the first time (in VR) and it was incredible. Just jumped into Half Life Alyx and even just the beginning is fantastic. I'm finding it hard to go back to flat screen. Any chance you would cover more VR content on this channel? The Meta has sold a boatload of Quest 2s (something like 15 million) to the point that I think it's going to make sense financially for gamedevs to make games for it. There also seems to be enough of a backlog of games to justify buying a headset.
I dig the shirt of the 1999 cinematic masterpiece "The Mummy" starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weiss
Two playthroughs on the Quarry. Giving it a two week rest and another go. Definitely a good time. Especially when you've got friends over... Who haven't played yet
If you liked Vampire Survivors, you'd probably really enjoy 20 Minutes Til Dawn! It's similar, but with more control given to when you shoot and how your guns evolve.
Got really excited when I saw this video was posted. Always makes my day when I see Jake post a video!
Your approach to your videos is very genuine. It's very authentic you, and that's refreshing to see
Pokemon Legend: Arceus really is underrated.
Agree to disagree.
LOVE the Vampire Survivors shoutout! That game is awesome, I'm so happy it kinda blew up
20 minutes till dawn is a really small, indie early access game and is super fun. It understands the feeling of getting a game breaking combo and just letting it clear the game.
Great job with this video! Awesome job at thinking outside the Elden Ring box. This is the kind of thing that keeps me coming back to this channel again and again! Will definitely revisit the Stanley Parable.
roboquest. As a notable first person shooter rougelike or lite. Especially after recent update for me. On pc gamepass
I have always taken your advice for most games, so these lists give me the best first impressions 👌
Jake you are by far my go to guy for gaming news and insights. Most of my purchases have been off what you've said due to you have never steered me wrong. Thanks for all the years of great content and insight!
Damn, I just now found your channel and I absolutely love your natural flow and how genuine you seem. Can't wait to watch more of your vids. SUBBED!
Jake you are fucking awesome, glad instead of talking about obviously great AAA you talked about other games that interested you and shined a light on those games, i will def check out some of the games u recommend 👍🏽
cannot fucking imagine being out in public and turning the crank on the Playdate
I've been playing/played:
-20 Minutes till Dawn
-Rogue Legacy 2
-Peglin
-Fire Emblem 3 Hopes
-And ofc Elden Ring
Fall Guys (Xbox)
I never got into mad max so I'd like a vid to change my mind, another great vid it's great coming on here a finding games that may have slipped past me and your hype about a game is infectious.
Just found your channel randomly. Nice videos.
Just realized why vampire survivors looks so familiar, apparently one of the few games I have downloaded on my phone Magic Survival served as inspiration for it
Love your videos Jake. Thank you.
i would love to see some videos that are passion projects. i sit here almost every damn day and watch before you buys on games that i know i have no interest in ever buying. and i know i’m not the only one. people want to feel like they’re apart of the group and when you do those passion projects things you get to see who your real ones are
Jake, you turned me onto Vampire Survivors... and I LOVE it. Dude, I have it as a part of XGP, and I STILL bought it on Steam because daddy has to have those latest patches. Much appreciated dude!
The Stanley Parable is one of my favorite games. I think it's one of the few games that's kept me giggling 90% of the time. The expansion adds a ton of stuff and it's perfect on the deck/switch.
Jake, my guy, thanks for vids and the recommendations
ive been playing a lot of max payne and control recently, both games have such an experience that no other game has.
Also try Quantum Break.
I don't know if you played the demo of Midnight Fight Express on Steam yet but it is amazing, since you love Sifu like me, you will enjoy it for sure. Full version comes out next month.
Great list by the way, my game of the year thus far is TMNT - Shredder's Revenge.
thank you for bringing up the stanley parable ultra deluxe! the new content is incredible
Thanks for the video Jake!
I'm currently playing Dino Crisis 1, never got to play it back in the day, only the sequel - so am eventually filling in that missed experience. Really fun - I'll probably replay DC2 afterwards for the hell of it :)
It's so cool you included The Stanley Parable, I played it for the first time with the re-release, and I can say this might be my fovourite game of all time, just bc how different it is.
The Titanfall 2 Northstar Client is my favorite of 2022 so far.
Dam Jakes videos are always nice !
"Sometimes I just wanna punch guys".. lol classic Jake
I really enjoy listening to all the gaming commentary here on YT, especially from folks like you, Ralph, Alanah, Shelby and Matt, etc. But in all honesty, I'm one of those people who just buys game a year after they come out on a super sale and just focuses on his immense backlog, lol. Like, I just finished playing through Spider-Man PS4's DLC last night and I really enjoyed that, even though no one's talking about it anymore. (Also Maneater - that game rules.) Still love to keep up with "all the latest games releasing" all the same tho.
You've pretty much described my gaming life there too !
@@stephengoodman9058 gaming can be an expensive hobby, haha. Gotta make use of those sales and deals!
Can you name the channels that you've mentioned I only know girlfriend reviews off of them that would a huge favor
@@manivarmazyar Ralph = Skillup, Alanah = Alanah Pearce / Charalanahzard.
@@stephengoodman9058 thanks man
Shredder's Revenge, Power Wash Simulator, Stanley Parable Deluxe Edition, and Tiny Tina's Wonderworlds are the four games i have jumping between playing right now, having fun with all 4 currently (all console)
i watched your vampire survivors vid and bought the game due to your original recommendation. it might not have performed as well on youtube but the review convinced me!
Glad to hear it. Thanks!
The quarry has a damn good sound track
The crank thing on the Play Date is very creative.
Love your work
I do have to check out The Quarry... I'm going to dig into it this weekend. Thanks pal.
appreciate you Jake ❤ your content
Pressure washing in real life is fun too! Im doin a deck rn
awesome video . Thank you
I love these kinds of videos.
7:45 Very glad you love GFR as much as we do!
Been watching for a while, finally subscribed. Definitely resonate with how/what you discuss lol We homies yet?
I got my steamdeck a few weeks ago and it has taken over my gaming life. I have a very nice gaming PC and I honestly enjoy sitting on the couch with my steamdeck way more. There are some things I would like to see updated or changed but over all I give it a 9 out of 10. It's been really fun seeing what all it can do and play with Linux desktop.
I think for me dying light 2 and horizon 2 were a bit of a letdown. My biggest and greatest surprise is Citizen Sleeper. I played through it in one sitting. I couldn't recommend it enough!
DL2 was part of a buggy game they rushed out the door with most content cut. Such a fantastic ...part of a game though.
Yeah Capitalism !
I had to force myself to finish dying light 2. I don’t what it was exactly but the story was so lacking, I didn’t care about any of the characters or saving the main guys little sister.
I feel like both of those games got “ubified”,just running from one “question mark” to another,it just gets tiring.
Good vid man as always. Actually just started playing Mad Max lol surprised how good it is
Got a big group together to watch me play the quarry, favorite gaming experience of the year so far
Awesome shirt Jake!
MH Sunbreak has consumed pretty much all my spare time.
Tunic is really good. Highly recommended
2nd half looks like an incredible gaming time, October in particular is insane!
I was addicted to vampire Survivors and every time it's updated I'm strait back in to clear the unlocks.
Love the t-shirt man
Jake baldino talking about teenage engineering is the coolest crossover ever
I love that “The Mummy” shirt *chef’s kiss*
I'm kinda vibing with old games. Rise of Nations, Kenshi, Ark Survival, Total War: THREE KINGDOMS. But I'm also playing Apex Legends, Path of Exile, and finding time to try games I didn't try yet. SuchArt! is a fun game to casually play from time to time because I can draw whatever I wanted and folks in the game still praised me xD
Love your shirt
My Steamdeck has primarily been a Moonlight player. I stream games from my PC to it to save so much battery
I didn’t know you had your own channel. This just popped up in my feed.
Sifu is amazing 😻 I had a great experience listening to the Kill Bill soundtrack during the Art Museum level.
October 2022 is sooo packed, hell the last 3 months in general have wayy too many releases scheduled.
I'm sorry I missed your video on Vampire Survivors. I'm definitely going to check it out after this! (thumbs up emoji)
MAKE A MAD MAX VIDEO PLEEEEASE! Maybe talk about what they could’ve done in a sequel.
Part 2 of this video in December is gonna slap
Damn right
Dangggg no mention of the Cuphead dlc! I know it's not technically a "new game" but we've been waitin' like 5 years for it, and damn is it good !!
My backlog is so crazy right now that the only 2022 game I've played is Elden Ring, I did spring for that one. Otherwise, I've finished beloved games like Dark Souls, Limbo, and Undertale for the first time.
My top 5
1 Elden Ring
2 Elden Ring
3 Elden Ring
4 Elden Ring
5 Fall Guys (Xbox)
My favourite releases of the year, because they're all I've played, are ER and "Trek to Yomi", which is an absolutely beautiful experience. Stupidly excited for "Stray" next week though.
The Quarry is on sale at Best Buy as a daily deal today only FYI.
Loving the mummy shirt!
I did watch your Vampire Survivors video, and I think that game is great! I still haven’t survived 30 minutes on any map but I’m getting closer.
I got Stanley parable recently and had an absolute blast, it's so funny and it really doesn't ever feel like it's trying to get you to stay, which is a weird thing to say, but i never felt like "oh I have to do Stanley parable today to beat it/get this achievement or whatever" so after I'd had my fill I could just go back to something else without feeling like I'd lost because I hadn't experienced literally everything it had to offer, it was a refreshing experience.
Btw have you heard of UnMetal? A metal Gear parody that I think you'd be into
Love listening to people who get to play so many games. Due to time restrictions don't get to play that many anymore. That said I just finished Tales of Arise and found it a great little escape with a great story.
Mad Max is a criminally underrated game.
Elden Ring, HorizonFW, TMNT Shredders Revenge, Kirby and the forgotten land, Pokemon L: Arceus... honorable mentions to Triangle Strategy and KoFXV
I should get my Steam Deck email near the end of this month, very much looking forward to getting my grubby little gremlin mitts on it, I also love just tinkering with things and seeing what I can get working so I'm just as excited for setting up and doing that stuff as I am for actually playing, it should be a good fit for me. It has been a super rough year so I'm hoping getting the Steam Deck will make up for that at least a little.
Jake. Your hair is getting more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
😂😂
I've mostly been playing games i never got around to, playing Tunic blind was an amazing experience, if you play it dont look up anything, its fantastic
